All Hallows In Hosenka

Dressed in her Hornet costume that she had been wearing for a year or two now complete with toy rifle that was being stored inside the carrying case that doubled as the flight deck of the aircraft carrier that was part of her "shipgirl" costume, Lucia strode into the festively decorated town of Hosenka, where she had met Eyir for the Sommarsun Weeks event that seemed like it had happened a lifetime ago. It had only been a few months, but time moved fast for someone who had already died once and had been resurrected by an unknown power. Having arrived in Hosenka, Lucia waited for her friend Eyir to put in an appearance as only the latter could. If the latter wanted to attend this event, that was.

The blonde had left Eyir a written message in the guild hall asking if the mysterious mage wanted to meet her at All Hallows in Hosenka. She was not sure if her guildmate would show up or not, but she had extended the invitation anyway because she kind of liked Eyir. Once the blonde had gotten past the facts her guildmate was an animated suit of armor and had a different way of going about things Lucia had taken a liking to the mystery mage.

As Lucia waited for Eyir to arrive she looked around the town, which was certainly decorated for the occasion. In addition to black and orange banners, fake spiders clinging to walls, and fake bats roosting under any convenient ledge,  standing under the light of a streetlight to the left was an animatronic skeleton waving at festivalgoers while wearing a black top hat and holding a wooden cane in its left hand. It was not a cheap one... it was so detailed and it moved so smoothly that it could have passed for a real skeleton. Lucia looked around further and spotted a black cat with glowing golden eyes perched on a fence a short distance to the left of the animatronic skeleton.

The blonde walked towards it expecting it to be another animatronic, but to her surprise it was a real black cat because it turned its head to face her and meowed while swishing its tail left and right. Lucia stopped where she was and watched it hop off the fence and trot towards her. She expected it to either run away or attack her, but to her surprise it sat near her feet and looked up at her as if expecting to be petted. Lucia obliged and slowly crouched down to pet it with her right hand, gently stroking its back and feeling it purr as she did so.

Once the feline had had enough affection it did a complete circle around her legs and rubbed against her right leg for a moment before trotting off on a road that led deeper into town. Lucia watched the cat depart with a smile on her face. Some people considered black cats to be bad luck, but in this case nothing but good came out of her meeting with one. Once it was out of sight Lucia turned to face the entrance to Hosenka and spent some time looking at all the costumed people moving about.

She saw a male and female dressed as vampires in elaborate costumes and makeup that were quite detailed. She saw a blonde "sexy nurse" hanging off the arm of a muscular man with close-cut black hair dressed as a knight with a flowing red cloak hanging off the back of full plate armor. She even saw another "shipgirl"... the young woman had waist-length black hair and was dressed as what looked to be a battleship because the costume featured four gun turrets with two barrels apiece hanging on arms attached behind the young woman's back. She also wore an anime-style schoolgirl uniform with an armored belt around her hips.

Lucia was having fun just looking at other people's costumes. She could not wait to actually participate in the festival, but for that to happen she needed to wait for Eyir.

Lucia Winchester rolls one Normal Die for Coffin Up Candy.

'Normal Dice' :

After waiting nearly an hour Lucia decided to strike out on her own and hope that Eyir caught up to her. The blonde mage walked around Hosenka looking at the decorations in town and the costumes of other festival attendees until she came across a small wooden booth manned by a young woman with shoulder-length red hair dressed as an anime character from a series she did not know the name of. She wore a white anime schoolgirl uniform with a black necktie and a black hairband plus black thighigh stockings and brown shoes. The redhead was a full foot shorter than Lucia and had to literally look up to the blonde, but the former was not daunted by the height difference and happily greeted Lucia.

The redhead the explained how the game worked and once she was finished set three small wooden coffins on the counter, a sight that made Lucia slightly uneasy. Two of them had small plastic skeletons already inside while the third sat empty, but it did not remain empty for long. The attendant set a piece of purple candy in a clear purple wrapper inside of the empty coffin, then closed all three doors manually. When that was finished she raised her glowing pink hands above her head, causing the coffins to glow pink before being shuffled about.

Lucia watched the process and when they stopped after the final shuffling she was told to choose the coffin that she thought held the sugary prize within. After a few moments Lucia chose the one in the center and the attendant opened the door to show that her guess was right. The blonde mage was rewarded with a small clear purple bag of the candy and a light blue ticket of some kind called a "Spirit Ticket." Lucia thanked the redhead for hosting the game and the latter waved back before the blonde walked away to go find something else to do. So far the blonde mage was off to a good start... she hoped that the good times would last for the entire evening.

'Normal Dice' :

After making a correct guess at Coffin Up Candy Lucia had both a Spirit Ticket and a small bag of candy to show for her efforts. Now she was on the hunt for another activity to do and after a bit of wandering around found one called "Bobbing For Apples." The area was manned by a young woman dressed in a black anime schoolgirl uniform with blonde hair that went down to her ankles and black boots. On her shoulders were pauldrons that looked like jet engines, on her head was an open pilot helmet with the black visor up and the oxygen mask hanging off to the right side, and on her back were folded metallic wings. Lucia was not sure if the other blonde was supposed to be the anthropomorphic representation of a fighter jet like the Luminous Rose mage was the anthropomorphic representation of an aircraft carrier, but it looked that way.

A short distance in front of the attendant was a large metal trough in which were numerous apples floating in water. The trough had at least forty floating inside of it, so there were plenty to pick from. Lucia made eye contact with the other blonde and greeted her. The greeting was returned and the rules of the game were laid out. Lucia's objective was to lean close to the trough and try to pick out an apple with her teeth, hopefully without falling into the water.

This was the first time Lucia had ever done anything like this, but that did not deter her. She walked up to the trough and set down the toy rifle carrying case so that it did not unbalance her due to it being slung on her right shoulder, then leaned over the trough, which was hard for her due to her height. Lucia managed to lean over it enough to get within biting distance of a floating apple and stabilized herself as it passed by.

After doing her best to make sure she did not fall over into the trough and make a splash in a bad way the blonde mage waited until an apple passed within range, then grabbed it by the stem with her teeth. After securing it she stood upright and turned to face the attendant with the apple's stem still in her teeth as proof that she had accomplished the feat. The other blonde approached Lucia and handed her a Spirit Ticket, then took the apple from Lucia. The blonde mage thanked the person for hosting the game and walked off with one more Spirit Ticket in hand. She had had a decent amount of fun with Bobbing For Apples and the good mood was still going strong.

After completing Bobbing For Apples and receiving her second Spirit Ticket Lucia moved on down the street, but her progress was slow thanks to her running into a group of fellow festival attendees who were walking shoulder-to-shoulder and talking to one another, taking up practically all of the street as they moved at a leisurely pace without regard to anyone behind them. She exercised patience and was rewarded when she found another activity called Brewing Up Trouble that was to the right. She walked out from behind the slow-moving group and met a bespectacled young woman with waist-length blonde hair and green eyes. She wore a conservative witch outfit consisting of a black long-sleeved dress and black shoes with a pointy black hat on her head.

Lucia was greeted by the young woman, who bore a remarkable resemblance to her late sister Katrina. The Luminous Rose mage stood in place for a few seconds and looked at the person's face... she was so fixated on what she was seeing that she did not hear a single word of the explanation of how Brewing Up Trouble worked. When the other young woman asked if she understood anything she had just been told Lucia snapped out of it and admitted that she had been distracted. The event staff member graciously explained everything again and this time Lucia paid attention, repeating back everything she was told to prove that she was listening.

Once that was over Lucia calmly walked over to the ingredients area, which consisted of a wooden table with black bowls containing numerous ingredients. Also on the table was a rack that held test tubes of liquids of different colors. Lucia grabbed a test tube of light blue liquid and a handful of ghost-shaped gummy candy pieces and walked back over to the cauldron, then poured the liquid first. Next came the gummy ghosts, which she let fall from her hand.

When that ingredient hit the liquid that had been poured beforehand the cauldron glowed a ghostly blue. Lucia received a clear plastic beaker from the witch and lowered it into the brew, holding its mouth in the brew until it was full. She then pulled it out, looked at the glowing liquid for a moment, then drank the brew in one long drink.

The moment she lowered the empty beaker she saw the witch hold up a hand mirror with a gold frame and Lucia looked at herself. Her long blonde hair had turned white, her skin had turned pale, and her eyes were now an unearthly blue. The Luminous Rose mage was surprised by the transformation, but for some reason she was not frightened by it.

"Some people might call your new look scary, but I think you have an uncanny beauty." The witch opined. She lowered the mirror and walked over to Lucia, embracing her and gently kissing her on the right cheek before releasing the mage and handing her a Spirit Ticket as compensation. Lucia blushed for a moment and the witch smiled as she waved goodbye to the Luminous Rose mage, who waved back before setting off down the street to find another activity.

Some time after finishing Brewing Up Trouble and becoming a pale-skinned and pale-haired version of herself Lucia had made a lap around Hosenka and found nothing of real interest to her except for a ride called the Roller Coaster Of Emotions. The ride was manned by a young woman who was her height dressed as a "shipgirl." The young woman had light brown hair that extended to just below her backside and she wore a light green anime schoolgirl uniform with brown shoes... on her head was a silver headband with what looked like a radio antenna on it. On her back was a carrying case shaped like the deck of an aircraft carrier and it looked exactly like the one Lucia had.

Lucia greeted her fellow shipgirl and an empty roller coaster car rolled up to the gate. The pair waited for other passengers to assemble, but after a five-minute wait no one else showed up, so Lucia was given permission to board by herself. The event staff member promised to look after her carrying case while she was on the ride, so the Luminous Rose mage handed it over before boarding an empty car and sitting down in the seat to the left. The moment she sat down the metal safety harness dropped down over her shoulders and secured itself.

Once that was finished the ride lumbered out of the station and her fellow shipgirl waved goodbye. Lucia waved goodbye for a few seconds, then faced forward. The car slowly moved towards the first peak and she was feeling fairly confident that she was going to be in for an exciting ride. She looked at the town below and the view gradually improved until she reached the first peak.

The top of the peak provided an excellent view of Hosenka, a sight which was beautiful due to all the lights and decorations she could see. She also saw a ball of orange magic which exploded in the shape of a pumpkin seconds before the roller coaster began its descent. The sudden drop was surprising enough, but the surprise was compounded by what she saw next.

Lucia began to see the faces of her family, all of whom were dead except for Diana. The roll call started with Melody and Lucius before proceeding in birth order until all of the Winchester children were listed. Gloria, Olivia, Ashley, Katrina, Eleanor, and Jessica Winchester, then Albert, the second brother and the youngest child in the Winchester family. Lucia felt sadness knowing that she was the oldest child of the family and had outlived everyone except for Diana. After seeing each of her siblings individually she saw a group shot of all the Winchester children except for Diana and every one of them looked to be happy.

The roller coaster continued down its track and she saw a vision of the Winchester family crypt in Bellum, where she had once been interred and where she had come back to life through unknown means. Inside were all the sarcophagi of the Winchesters and each one was labeled with the family member it contained. All of them were occupied except for Diana's and her own. She did not anticipate any miraculous resurrections for her siblings, so unless a divine being saw fit to return them to this world they were destined to lie within the family crypt. Lucia's mood continued to be a somber one as the ride continued.

At the top of the second peak she saw one last glimpse of her younger siblings when they were children. Lucia had been there for each of their births and when she was old enough to do so without running the risk of dropping them she held some of them in her arms. She had held all of her younger sisters after Olivia: Ashley, Katrina, Eleanor, Jessica, and Diana. She had also held her younger brother Albert. The vision ended on a shot that showed her as a young adult sitting in a chair and holding him in her arms while her siblings were gathered around looking down at him.

Those times had come and gone.

As the roller coaster reached the third peak she saw an image of a gravestone in a well-kept cemetery somewhere she did not recognize flash before her eyes. It was a plain gray tombstone, but engraved on it was her name in perfectly engraved letters. The vision was obviously a reminder of what her eventual fate was, but that was not all she would see. After an appreciable amount of time she got a glimpse beneath the ground of her body lying in repose inside a coffin... her long hair was laid beneath her, her eyes were closed, and her hands were folded under her chest. Lucia closed her eyes because she no longer wanted to see that image, so she closed them and held them shut for several seconds while the ride progressed.

When she opened them again the image was gone, but there was still more ride to go. After a few more peaks and dips the ride mercifully reached the end. An unhappy Lucia waited as the car rolled into the station and the safety harness lifted before she got out of the car and received her case from the event staff member, who also handed her another Spirit Ticket. Lucia put on a smile long enough to thank them before leaving the area at a slow walk and heading for Luminous Rose Guild Hall. She had had enough of the Halloween event and just wanted to go home.
