Spring is over and Summer is here! There is fun to be had at the Summer Celebration as activities both old and new await festival attendees. Whether one wants to participate in a Limbo Contest, ride a jetski for some fun on the waves, or get a bird's eye view of the party by going parasailing, there is plenty of fun in the sun to be had. Just do not forget to apply plenty of sunscreen before showing up!
Completion Requirements:
As you take part in the activities and complete them you receive a coin-sized golden token called a Solar Coin handed to you by event staff. In order to complete the event you or your group must have at least four Solar Coins from completing different activities. Once you have the required number you can turn in the event and get your rewards.
When an activity requires a roll, rolling IS required. However, you can choose what activities you participate in and if no roll is required you can choose the outcome.
WC Requirements:
The event must be run by players either individually or in groups of up to six. Lone players are allowed to complete the event by themselves.
The Word Count for each player is 2,000 words.
Just like with jobs, the Word Count stacks. If two players participate in the event, the WC is 4,000, three players have to reach a 6,000-word WC, etc. Please bear in mind that the WC of all players contributes to the total WC so that players still have a chance to complete the event if one of the group members is unable to meet their part of the WC.
Location:
Any town, city, or island with a beach.
Deadline:
Sunday, August 25th, 11:59pm EST

Activities:
- Volleyball Match:
- Volleyball Match:
An activity that seems to be a staple of any beach party worthy of the name, a friendly game of volleyball is available for all to play and skill is no object. An event staff member is available to act as a referee for the match, so players only need to focus on playing the game. Players can participate in teams of up to six. Opposing teams always match the number of players (ex. four players, four NPC opponents). If there are not enough players for a PC team, NPCs can be used to fill the gap for the PC team.
This event must be rolled for using one Normal Die. No matter the outcome of the match, participants get one Solar Coin.
1: Your team has it easy. Your opponents are not very good while your team is pretty good. Just try not to run up the score!
2: Your team might have a bit of work ahead of you. The opposing team is filled with players who do not seem to be all that good, but from time to time they can work together well enough to get some unexpected points. You can still win, but do not underestimate your opponents. If you do they just might get lucky and score an upset victory!
3: Your team and your opponent's team are evenly matched. Player skill will determine the winner here.
4: Your team is at a slight disadvantage. Whether your team is average or your opponent's team is just that good, you are going to have to work for the win.
5: Your team is at a major disadvantage. You seem to be facing an opposing team of above-average players. You are going to have to dig deep if you want to claim victory.
6: Have you ever watched a sports movie with a team of plucky underdogs going up against a rival team stacked with talent? In this scenario you and your team are the former. Your opponents are very good players who might be collegiate or even at the professional level. You might want to hope for the kind of improbable luck that carries underdogs to victory in the movies!
- Limbo Contest:
- Limbo Contest:
In this classic beach activity that has returned for another festival, players must go under a bar that gets increasingly lower without their head or hands touching the ground, without falling while trying to go under a bar, or without knocking the bar off of the upright poles. The winner is the player who can go the lowest and still remain on their feet. How low can you go?
Players are free to go into detail about the contest such as the appearances of NPC participants, the music, and any other relevant details. No dice roll is required for event completion. Participants get one Solar Coin.
- Parasailing:
- Parasailing:
Have you ever wanted to get a bird's eye view of the beach but lack access to flight magic or a personal aircraft? By participating in this activity you can do just that. All one has to do is go over to the dock and request a boat, then climb into the harness and wait for the boat to get into motion. Once airborne you will get a view of the beach and the ocean that is hard to beat. The safety harness and parasail and other rigging have been rigorously tested and meet all safety standards, so all one has to worry about is enjoying the view below!
Players are free to go into detail about their trip such as whether they are parasailing by themselves or with a group, the color of their parasail, what they see below, and other relevant details. No dice roll is required for activity completion. Participants get one Solar Coin.
- Sand Castle Building Contest:
- Sand Castle Building Contest:
In this activity participants work alone or together with to build a sand castle for judging in a friendly contest. Contestants have one hour to build their sand castle before it is judged on criteria such as appearance, level of detail, overall quality of build, and more. Players are encouraged to get creative with details such as the castles their competition is building, NPC competitors, and so on.
No Dice roll is require for activity completion. Participants get one Solar Coin.
- Swimsuit Contest:
- Swimsuit Contest:
The ultimate contest of beachwear! Men and women alike can put on their most eye-catching bathing suit and strut their stuff down the walkway for the judges and audience alike. Snap a pose to really stand out among the other competitors and dazzle them with your confidence and pazazz! Will you win? Will you even place? The only rule is make sure your swimsuit is family friendly; there are families in attendance!
This activity requires no dice roll to complete. Participants will be rewarded with one Solar Coin.
- Water Gun Fight:
- Water Gun Fight:
This activity is a giant free-for-all where individuals armed with water guns of all types do battle. The battle lasts for twenty minutes and water gun refills are unlimited. However, there are two optional dice rolls to make to make things more interesting should players wish to use them.- Armament:
- The first is for armament. Since there is a high demand for water guns, getting a good one is luck of the draw. Will you get a wimpy water pistol or will you get the big guns?
1-2: Congratulations! You got your hands on a high-quality water gun that is more like a rifle! It has a high-capacity water backpack that will never run out, a hose feed to supply water to the weapon, and it has a long reach! Now go and rule the sandy battlefield!
3-4: In this case you get a standard size water gun with a cylinder that is of average capacity. It will require a few refills before the battle is over, but you will be able to hold your own thanks to its respectable range.
5-6: You find yourself going onto the field with a rather small water pistol with a meager water capacity. You will need to refill it a lot and its range is generously described as "low."
- Visibility:
- The second is for how conspicuous you are. Will you be easily seen or will you move about almost undetected?
1-2: Somehow you manage to pass virtually undetected by your fellow combatants. People wonder where the water gun shots are coming from but they cannot pinpoint your location.
3-4: You are an average member of the crowd. While you may get hit every once in awhile, no one is really going out of their way to target you.
5-6: You tend to stick out like a sore thumb. Whether it is because you are the only tall person in a crowd of people of average height, the only man on a battlefield full of women, the only female participant, a particularly famous mage, or some other reason that makes you stand out from the crowd, people can easily spot you. Prepare to be shot frequently.
Dice rolls are optional. Players are encouraged to come up with details such as the color of their weapon, NPC appearances, etc. Regardless of the outcome participants get one Solar Coin.
Rewards:
Players at D and C ranks receive B rank EXP. Players at B and A Rank receive EXP of a rank above their own. Players S-Rank and above receive 100-Year EXP.
Upon successful completion of the event, players also receive a Floral Lei that can be turned in with one job for a whopping 75% to both EXP and Jewel!
