Iris, and Mateus for pitching
in to put this event together!
Autumn has returned and so has Halloween! This year's event will feature a mix of old tricks and new treats for participants. Whether one feels up to riding a magical roller coaster, strolling through a cemetery at night, participating in a spirited dance-off with other festival attendees, or even taking part in a costume contest, there is something for everyone. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory (except for one activity), so feel free to show your holiday spirit!
Completion Requirements:
As you take part in the activities and complete them you receive a credit card-sized light blue paper ticket with the silhouette of a ghost printed on the right half handed to you by event staff. In order to complete the event you or your group must have at least four Spirit Tickets from completing different activities. Once you have the required number you can turn in the event and get your rewards.
When an activity requires a roll, rolling IS required. However, you can choose what activities you participate in and if no roll is required you can choose the outcome.
WC Requirements:
The event must be run by players either individually or in groups of up to six. Lone players are allowed to complete the event by themselves.
The Word Count for each player is 2,000 words.
Just like with jobs, the Word Count stacks. If two players participate in the event, the WC is 4,000, three players have to reach a 6,000-word WC, etc. Please bear in mind that the WC of all players contributes to the total WC so that players still have a chance to complete the event if one of the group members is unable to meet their part of the WC.
Location:
Any town or city.
Deadline:
Sunday, November 19th at 11:59pm EST

Activities:
- Brewing Up Trouble:
- Brewing Up Trouble:
In this activity participants will get to mix up a magic potion of their own under the careful supervision of an event staff member dressed as a witch or warlock. Participants will be provided with a wide range of perfectly safe magical ingredients with which to make their brew. Once the brew is made the maker will get to sample their creation. There is no predicting what effect the ingredients will have, so be careful!
Participants get to choose the ingredients, the taste of their created potion, and its effect. The effect will last until the end of the event, so participants are encouraged to get creative. If players choose to suddenly change genders their clothing will magically change to fit their new form so that decency is maintained. No dice roll is required for this activity. Players get one Spirit Ticket for completing the activity.
- Coffin Up Candy:
- Coffin Up Candy:
This Halloween-themed twist on the classic shell game returns for this event and the rules remain the same. Players see a piece of candy placed into one of three small coffins, which are then moved around by magic until they come to a stop. The player's objective is to choose the small coffin with the candy inside. Choosing the right one results in getting several pieces of Halloween candy along with a blue Spirit Ticket. Choosing the wrong one results in the player finding a small plastic skeleton in the coffin but no negative consequences.
Participants must roll a single Normal Die to choose the outcome. Participants get a single Spirit Ticket regardless of the outcome. Should participants choose the right coffin, the candy inside is up to them.
1, 2, or 3: Success! You chose the right coffin and get some Halloween candy in addition to a Spirit Ticket!
4, 5, or 6: You chose the wrong coffin! No candy for you!
- Spooktacular Dance-Off:
- Spooktacular Dance-Off:
Like the name implies, this activity is a Halloween-themed dance battle. Participants who step onto the dance floor will be competing with NPC participants to see who has the most spirited moves. The music, dance floor, dance floor decorations, NPC personalities, and other features are up to participants. NPC opponents will always match the number of players participating, (ex. one NPC for one player, two NPCs for two, etc.).
No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one Spirit Ticket for completing the activity.
- Graveyard Tour:
- Graveyard Tour:
Participants take a guided tour of the cemetery in the city or town they are in. The tour starts off as calm as a tour of a graveyard can be, but eventually the dead take umbrage to the living using their resting place as a tour site and rise to do something about it. When the dead rise the tour guide and all NPCs flee the scene, leaving the PCs to fend off the dead without having to worry about innocent people getting caught in the fighting.
Players are encouraged to come up with details such as the appearance of the tour guide and other NPCs, the type and appearance of enemies the PCs face, the atmosphere in the cemetery (ex. whether there is fog or not, whether there is a cloudless night with a full moon or a cloudy sky, etc.) the appearance of the cemetery itself, etc. If players do not want to fight zombies or skeletons but want to face something else instead they can bring in other supernatural entities associated with Halloween to fight (werewolves, vampires, etc.) The fight is over when all enemies are defeated.
No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one Spirit Ticket for completing the activity.
- Bobbing For Apples:
- Bobbing for Apples:
This classic party activity involves players bending close to a tub of water with apples floating inside and using their teeth to pick out an apple. While this might sound completely safe, no Halloween Activity would be complete without a spooky surprise or two. Some of the floating apples have worms in them due to questionable quality control while some of the apples have the ability to bite anyone who tries to bite them. (edited)
Participants must roll a single Normal Die to choose the outcome. Participants get a single Spirit Ticket regardless of the outcome.
1 or 2: Congratulations! You managed to pick a perfectly normal apple!
3 or 4: You managed to pick an apple that had a worm inside, but do not fear because you did not actually bite the creature! You just disturbed its home and it might peek out to see what the commotion is all about...
5 or 6: Oh dear... you selected one of the angry apples that can actually bite back! It bit you on the lip or the side of the face! Do not worry... the wound will not be infected and it will heal over after the event, but it will certainly hurt!
- The Shadow of Trauma:
- The Shadow of Trauma:
In this activity a strange shadow creature is ambushing people and transporting them to a dark and mysterious realm where one must face their past. Once attacked and drawn into the realm there is no predicting what one will encounter... one might face their worst fears or they might face long-dead enemies from their past who have taken advantage of the supernatural energies of the occasion to come calling. Can you face the difficulties of your past?
Players are encouraged to be creative when it comes to details like the appearance of the realm they are drawn into, any background effects relevant to their fears/past enemies, etc. If participants wish to do so, they can share their perspective with other players and allow them to see what they are seeing (ex. if a player is seeing what they fear the most or if they are seeing an enemy from their past that they fear/hate, other players can see it too if the first player allows it).
No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one Spirit Ticket for completing the activity.
- Costume Contest:
- Costume Contest:
In this activity participants compete in a costume contest that features age divisions for festival-goers of all ages to compete in. The activity consists of walking down a runway in front of an audience and judges and showing off one's costume, then waiting to see how the audience and judges receive it. Do you think you have what it takes to rule the runway?
Mages can participate, but the use of magic is heavily discouraged, if not outright frowned upon. This activity is the one time that costumes are required for participation. Details such as the length of the runway, the costumes of NPC participants, NPC participant personalities (if any), and others are up to players.
No dice roll is needed for this activity. Regardless of the outcome participants receive one Spirit Ticket for completion.
- Roller Coaster of Emotions:
- Roller Coaster of Emotions:
This activity involves a Halloween-themed roller coaster that is built around the perimeter of the town or city the festival is on. Participants board the roller coaster and are secured into their seats by safety bars. The track itself is built up to code and has been tested multiple times before the event, so the only terror will come from the ride itself.
The ride starts off slow and calm, perhaps even relaxing. This lasts until the first peak is reached and the riders have a scenic view of the town or city below. Once that happens participants are hit with a powerful burst of magic that might turn the ride into an entirely different affair based on one's perceptions. Will you survive the ride to the end?
Participants are encouraged to get creative when it comes to what one sees and experiences. Auditory and visual hallucinations of things/people one fears or hates, seeing dead people from one's past, visions of an unpleasant future, a general feeling that the ride is going too fast to be safe... anything is viable. Or if one is in complete control of one's emotions or is too jaded to feel much of anything, the ride might feel like a calm stroll through the park. Details such as the appearance of the roller coaster, whether there are other NPC riders or the PCs happen to catch the roller coaster at a slow time and are the only ones on the ride, how the burst of magic manifests, and others are up to participants.
If participants wish to do so, they can share their perspective with other players and allow them to see the ride from each other's perspectives (ex. if a player is hallucinating and seeing dead loved ones or dead enemies, other players can see it too if the first player allows it).
No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one Spirit Ticket for completing the activity.
Rewards:
Players at D and C ranks receive B rank EXP. Players at B and A Rank receive EXP of a rank above their own. Players S-Rank and above receive 100-Year EXP.
Upon successful completion of the event, players also receive a Ghost Lollipop that can be turned in with one job for an additional 25% to both EXP and Jewel.
