Volac stared upwards at the mountain trail that he'd been told to follow, a bemused look on his face. This was the first time that he'd ever travelled on this particular mountain, and while he was slightly disappointed that there wouldn't be as much of a challenge actually climbing the mountain, he was at least somewhat relieved that there was actually a marked-down trail that people could follow. Not everyone was used to climbing a mountain, and with how tall the particular mountain was, it would be more than a little silly considering what the path led to. The Silver Wolves Guildhall, a rather large guildhall that was nestled within one of the taller mountains in the mountain range that contained Phoenix Mountain. Not only that, but the apparent snowstorm that surrounded the guild itself would have someone lost in an instant.

... Maybe he'd finally be able to find a home here.

He'd been travelling through a few of the towns that were bordering Phoenix mountain, completing his usual route for deliveries. Jobs had been slowing recently, leaving him with less work, so he'd been forced to take on more routes to try and get even a fraction of the pay that he used to get by taking actual missions or tasks from the various towns he'd gone through. The money was only barely enough, and it was thinning out no matter how frugally he decided to live. So, he'd decided to ask around, wandering throughout the various towns about places that he could go that would offer better work. Quite a few had initially suggested fairy tail, but that was clear on the other side of Fiore. Some had also suggested Luminous Rose... but they just, didn't call to him, the idea of making his magic stronger for any reason making him slightly nauseous.

The runes on his arms thrummed with energy, responding to his emotions.

"Isss something wrong..? You heartrate just spiked." Volac quietly turned his gaze down to his scarf as a scaly head poked itself out of the folded fabric. "It's... ok. Just nervous." he said softly, a hand going to his scarf so he could stroke his beloved familiar's head. "Thank you... for worrying, Hi... Hita.. Hitaaa-OW!" Hitamuki nipped his chin, a low hiss coming from her mouth "Sstop that, no throwing your voice out before we even get there!" she scolded, snuggling closer to him. "Ssseriously.. You'll need it for introductions, yesss? Don't waste it!" Volac could only nod in response, looking up at the mountain trail.

Welp, he only had one way to really go at this point.

'Well this is rather awkward...' He thought idly, staring at one of the spectral wolves that was now looking at him with a strange expression, pacing around him curiously. Hitamuki had retreated back into his scarf, having let out a startled hiss when the wolf had arrived. The staredown was somewhat unnerving, at least it was unnerving until the wolf started trotting closer, looking at him, and then tilting its head towards the snowstorm as it began trotting towards it. Volac carefully reinforced his runes so he didn't catch a cold from standing within the howling snowstorm, and he followed after the spectral being.

Wearing her usual green, white, and gold outfit with black bike shorts underneath the skirt, Leona was standing in the foyer of the guild hall and holding her second cup of coffee from the guild cafe. She was seriously considering buying a third cup even though that might not be a good idea. To say that she liked coffee was an understatement. She liked coffee so much that the only other thing she would drink was water. That habit was probably bad for her health, but so was going to the Cursed Lands or fighting cultists.

Leona was halfway through her second cup of coffee when she felt a magic signature and decided to investigate its source. With cup of coffee clutched in her right hand Leona exited the guild hall to locate the source of the magic signature.

    -Outside Silver Wolf Guild Hall-

Leona walked outside the guild hall and shut the door behind her, then began moving in the direction of the magic signature. As she drew closer to the source she thought that she could make out a human shape in the distance, but it could also be her just seeing things. She would still check it out, though. If there was nothing there then she would turn around and head back to the guild hall to finish her coffee.

The Wizard Saint continued to walk forward while taking the occasional sip of coffee until she spotted a well-dressed young man being escorted by one of the spectral wolves. Leona took another drink of coffee before lowering her cup and approaching him. Having practiced introducing herself many times before, Leona decided to just say who she was from the start so that she did not look like she was trying to gain an edge in the interaction by revealing her importance at the last moment.

"Hi there. I'm Leona Jarnefeldt, Guild Mistress of Silver Wolf and the Wizard Saint of Courage." Leona calmly introduced herself to the young man.

Volac quietly followed the spectral wolf, shivering as the cold of the strange snowstorm began to eat through the runes that he’d applied to himself, a weak complaint coming from Hitamuki at the feeling. Just as he’d wanted to start complaining of the cold himself, they finally breached the storm, the howling winds abruptly dying out in favor of a soft flurry of snow. He blinked in surprise, looking over at the wolf, who had stopped a little ways in front of him. It was almost as though it was waiting for him to do something. He shook himself like a dog, trying to remove the snow from his hair and clothes. The blossoming warmth from the strange barrier that seemed to be protecting the guild hall was pleasant enough, and almost made him want to take off his coat.

    … Almost.

He perked up at the sound of crunching snow, his eyes catching sight of a rather pretty woman with blonde hair that was watching him, seemingly waiting to catch his attention. She had a cup of coffee in her hands, the smell making him perk up a bit. The woman introduced herself as a wizard saint, causing him to do a double take, his eyes going wide. “..!” He felt Hitamuki start squirming around, shifting so she could poke her head out. “Isss something… wrong..?” Volac winced, a dull ache setting in. “
It… It’s nice to.. Me… mee… meet you..!” he bit out, the ache blossoming into a searing burning sensation that made him cough.

So much for introducing himself verbally like he’d wanted to.

Oh well, this was what backups were for!

With a sigh, he put a hand to his breast pocket so that he could retrieve his trusty light pen. With a practiced movement, he willed a bit of magic into the pen, allowing it to activate as he quietly moved closer, an embarrassed look on his face. As soon as he was close enough that she’d be able to read what he was going to write, he quietly turned around so that he could write out what he’d originally wanted to say.

In neat, curly letters he wrote out: “It’s nice to meet you, Miss Jarnefeldt. My name is Volac Seihsa, and I was hoping that I could ask to join your guild. Sorry for not saying this aloud, my voice has a habit of giving out on me.

Leona's face briefly turned red from embarrassment when she heard the young man's reaction to her introduction. Maybe she should have just introduced herself using her name instead of her name and her titles. She had tried to let the young man know who she was from the beginning instead of at the end so that they could have an interaction as equals, but the blonde failed to take into account the effect of using her titles too. It was clear that she needed to rethink how she introduced herself to others in the future.

Not sure what to say to try and alleviate the young man's nervousness, Leona opted to say nothing at all and let him do the talking... or writing, rather. She watched him produce a pen and patiently waited for him to write out his message to her. When it was presented to her she immediately noticed that it was written in an aesthetically pleasing style, but she also noticed that the young man's name was Volac Seihsa. She also read that he was interested in joining Silver Wolf.

Leona did not have to think very hard about her answer because she already knew what it would be. What she had to think about was the wording of her answer. After a few moments the blonde gave her reply.

"Certainly, Volac. You're welcome to join Silver Wolf if you'd like... we're always looking for new members." Leona answered calmly. She decided to go with a short and simple answer. She just hoped that her response did not sound curt to the prospective new member.

Volac smiled at Leona, bowing his head respectfully. It seemed like he was actually going to have a proper home again, something that made him genuinely happy. He quietly dispelled the blood magic that was warding off the non-existent cold, the soft red runes dying down as he adjusted his scarf to make sure that Hitamuki was nice and snug within it. While he knew he could most certainly handle the cold, he wasn’t entirely sure that she could, and he didn’t feel like risking her safety once those runes were dropped. That wasn’t something he was going to leave to chance.

He activated the pen again, putting it to the air.

Thank-you for accepting me, miss! I won’t let you down, and i’ll do my best to represent the guild in the best light I possibly can.” He wrote, pausing as a thoughtful look crossed his face, before he snapped his fingers and continued on. “I heard that this guild primarily focused on magic research, yes? I’d like to help with that if at all possible.

Researching magic was something on his list of priorities, one of the reasons that he’d actually sought out this guild partially because of this particular fact. He wanted to have different avenues to either making his magic less… gruesome to utilize, or to be able to learn a completely different type if at all possible. With access to the resources that they likely had, he might actually be able to finally get somewhere, and possibly even find a tutor that could teach him how to effectively utilize a different magic type.

Either way, he wouldn’t complain. Both options were viable, and both were something that he could certainly work with.

Leona took a sip from her cup of coffee as Volac wrote another message to her. She had never seen anything like this before and she watched the pen intently as it spelled out what Volac wanted it to write. She lowered her cup and was about to speak to him when he dashed off another message to her. Leona read over both parts and decided to address each part individually.

"It's no problem, Volac. Silver Wolf is always looking for new members and the guild will be glad to have you." Leona addressed the first message. Just as Leila Vergious had welcomed anyone willing to join Silver Wolf over four years ago Leona was welcoming anyone willing to join the guild and help its missions. Prospective new members were an unknown quantity that could bring any number of skills and talents to the table, skills and talents that Silver Wolf was willing and able to harness towards its missions.

That led to the second part of Volac's message. Leona read it again just to be sure that she had read everything carefully before talking. When she was certain that she comprehended it she spoke to him a second time.

"Yes, Volac. One of Silver Wolf's main missions is magical research. To do that research we rely on all the members of the guild no matter what Division they're part of." Leona informed Volac that what he had heard about the guild's mission was true and gave him a preview of the Divisions that Silver Wolf employed to carry out its work.

"If you want to focus mainly on research you might be interested in joining the Scholars. They're the Division who does the heavy lifting when it comes to research on magic and science." Leona revealed the name of one of the Divisions and made a suggestion. Volac seemed to a scholarly sort, but he might not be content just reading books and doing experiments all day. He might want to venture out into the world and search for artifacts himself as opposed to letting the Hunters do all the searching. It was his call.
