Descending upon the town of clovers that rested upon the depths of a darkened lake was something that typically brought the pink gemstone heavy emotions- there was a certain feeling of dread that would come deep into her stomach when sighting the expanse of dull waters stretch across the rugged terrain, provoked by her sadness of just what resided deep within the water's deepest parts. While Desirée had accepted those fragments of the past for what they were some time ago, it was difficult for her to face just how many failures she had caused due to her absence from the planet's surface. What sat at the bottom of the lake was just another reminder of that, and while she typically wouldn't be able to cast aside those reinforced emotions, tonight was a bit different- a golden hue would twinkle within the optics of the guildmistress as she would delicately walk through the city's alleyways toward the west side, resonating with a glimmer of confidence for what was yet to come. In accordance with an ongoing investigation on behalf of La Mage Maison, a historic museum of magecraft in Rose Garden, Luminous Rose would be requested to recover a series of stolen ethereal statues that resembled old gods, which were last spotted upon the basin of the ruins to the west of Clover Town. Tonight was the night that the pink diamond had arranged for the guild to make their move- having sent each and every member of the guild of pink roses a letter vaguely detailing the request of assistance and information relating to the meeting place and those they would potentially be facing, she had hoped that it would not be too long before the vines of the rose bush could make their way to the suspected angelic hideout and that a plentiful amount of the guild's lovely roses would appear at the cafe on the east side of town.

Raising her crystalline vaporizer to her lips as she would gently ascend the steps that led up to the meeting place, she would inhale the strawberry-flavored contents softly and proceed to exhale them, allowing for the clouds of smoke to thrash into the winds of the night. Nicotine was one of Desirée's newest coping mechanisms for her many anxieties she would experience within her life, which she found to be much more light on her headspace than alcohol- she had not been a smoker since her early adolescence, back when she inhabited the body of a teenager rather than a crystalline construct. "Oracelies let me know that she will be a bit late tonight, apparently the weather in Iceberg was not that friendly on her dragon's wings, ✧" the pink-haired guildmistress would speak to her companions that would climb the steps of the cafe alongside her, her eyes focused on the open arch where the doors would typically be to the establishment, "I'm sure she'll be here in no time, though! ♡ Oh, and one of the detectives of La Mage Maison told me that the heiress of the museum will be joining us on the raid~! ♡ Apparently, she's able to use elemental magic, and she wants to become an official member! We shouldn't keep her waiting for too long, no? ✧ Let's a go-go! ✧" Quickly grabbing onto the hand of her wolf companion Rose, which would take the form of a human girl on this occasion, the party of four would quickly make their way up the stairs and slip through the entryway of the spot- inside would be a rather ordinary mage cafe which would be made of wooden constructs, accompanied by three sets of stairs on each of the walls. Looking up at the ceiling, she would be able to tell that the tallest of the three stairways would lead to the room she had booked to overlook the expanse of the lake the city sat upon, which would serve as the guild's rendezvous point.

Reaching her hand toward the spiraling wooden railing that would line the staircase, Desirée would quickly run up the stairs in determination, allowing her white boots to make tiny thuds with each new step she would take. As she would run up the staircase, it would appear as if magical energy would outpour from her forehead diamond into the silhouette of her body- upon the staircase would blossom winding growths of glistening pink roses, accompanied by similarly-hued petals of roses that would litter the steps. It was quite easy to tell just where the idol finds herself in the moment, especially to those that would be able to recognize the resonance of holy light that would form similar to pollen upon her blooms- hopefully, this would guide the arriving members to take the right stairs to the heavenly upper meeting room. Arriving at the top alongside her trio of floating friends, the guildmistress would smile as her eyes would meet a foreign pair that was sitting on the other side of the room- it would appear to be a rather short looking girl in her early teenage years, accompanied by a brightly-hued outfit that resembled a red and pink rose, fluttering as she would arise from the pristine couch. "Hi, my name is Winona Maison- you must be Desirée Blooms! Thank you for offering the assistance of Luminous Rose to help the cause," the short-haired girl would softly speak to the guildmistress with a smile on her face, "I will help as much as I can alongside all of you." Winona had a bit of anxiety hiding behind her calm and gentle attitude- while she was a mage, it was quite outside of her comfort zone to take on jobs that were not simple and innocent, such as saving a kitten from an extremely tall tree. Taming her summons was the pinnacle of the hard missions she had found herself going on, at least, outside of all of the hard tests that came with her schoolwork. However, the inspirations of the legal guild marked by the pink rose had inspired her to use her magical abilities to the fullest extent she could. It's why she was preparing to bear the sigil of roses, after all.

Meeting the hand of the young girl with her own, the pink-haired idol would smile and nod her head in response to what she had heard the girl say, softly shaking her hand in greetings. "It's great to finally meet you, I've heard quite the things about you, and they were so good~! ♡" she would speak with her usual bubbly kindness, which would allow small refractions of pink holy light to scatter around the two as they would speak, "one of those things is that you're interested in joining Luminous Rose- if that's true, I, by all means, see you as worthy of bearing the sigil, and I don't really wanna wait too long to give it to you! ✧ Even though we are the early birds to this occasion, I'm sure it won't be long before the others arrive one by one~ ♡ And we've gotta make it to the ruins as soon as possible." While Desirée would reach into the opening of a small bag the size of a teacup that would rest upon her gemstone belt and dig around, the Cardcaptor would express that what the guildmistress had heard was indeed true- she did wish to join the guild prior to embarking on their journey of the night, which would make her heart flutter. Within the hands of the gemstone princess would rest a luminous pink rose that would appear to be made entirely of crystalline structures- it was one of the newer styles of guild stamps, custom-made with magecraft for the one and only guild of roses. "Well, where do ya' want it? ♡" the idol would ask, causing the two to giggle as they would pick a spot- it would soon rest on the surface of her hand, chosen so it could always be visible amongst her use of the shiny rod.

Upon giving Winona the stamp upon her right hand and having a bit more conversation with her, it would appear to the guildmistress that the Cardcaptor had been working alongside the detectives during most of their studies and had already been informed of every detail currently known regarding the situation- it was relieving to Desirée that she would not need to tell her guildmates the remaining details they had yet to learn alone, even though it would most likely still be just the same due to Winona's anxieties that she was starting to pick up on. However, the pink-haired idol's focus was now drawn to one of the open windows that showed the room the horizon- her gaze was met by a small glistening fragment that shone ever so gently from the depths of the lake, which would cause her to delve back into her nostalgia of what was down there. She knew that there was only so much time she had until she would need to go down into the dark waters and cause a change for the better- but that would come later, and while it would be soon into the future, it would need to be later. Scanning the horizon that would appear rather fuzzy upon the dark clouds of the nighttime, out of her arisen hand would manifest pulsating glowing shards of levitating crystals that would span across the lake that stretched to the east- upon these fragments would manifest the now visible basin of the ruins the guild would descend into in search of the missing statues and the thieves that took them away. "Winona- when we are facing the cult of angels, we'll need to take certain precautions to ensure the safety of all of Luminous Rose, ✧" Desirée would speak to the girl that would now sit across the room from the guildmistress, who would remain facing out toward the horizon from the colossal window, "I'll talk about it when everyone gets here, but... I don't want any blood to spill on either side if we can prevent it, and while I'm sure there will be fighting in store for us, I don't want anyone to taint their own hands when they don't have to. Hopefully, the people we are up against will have a similar will to keep on living."

"Right," the summoner of card spirits would speak to the guildmistress to affirm her support of that ideal- she felt like it was the best way to ensure a clean victory, which would make her support completely genuine. A certain feeling of curiosity would form within the young girl's mind about the guildmistress- though she was quite bubbly and cheery, it was quite obvious to her that Desirée had a serious side to her as well, which she could see poking out from within her words just like sprouts from the ground. "Now, we wait for the others, ♡" the idol would softly speak as she would continuously keep her gaze at the small speck of the ruins that sat on the other side of the water's surface, "I'll get us as ready as we can be, for now. ✧" Clasping her hands together as if she were praying, the demon slayer would channel her magical energy into all of her body and allow her gemstone upon her head to glisten even brighter into the dark sky- a set of five pink diamond necklaces of all different lengths would begin to twinkle upon her quilted sweater as she would appear to recite an incantation in an ancient language. The language of atmospheric crystalline, upon finishing her short sentence she would raise both of her hands forward and open a pink spinning magical circle in front of her, which would begin to produce a fluctuating magical construct of pink crystal that resembled a bridge. It would shimmer as it would stretch all the way to the other side of the lake from the arch of the window- following the cessation of the magical circle it arrived upon, its gemstone structures would appear to emanate geometrical particles of light into the night sky, bouncing across the surface of the water like a swarm of a million pink crystalflies.

    Lyra Karant
    Archangels of the Sephiroth

The start of this particular day was like any other that Lyra Karant experienced: first, wake up, go for a morning walk, come home, bathe, sit around and drink some tea to unwind, go off and train or perform a job– one of the two, always– and then wind down with a cup of tea and a book for the evening. Rinse, repeat ad infinitum. It was a routine that had worked for her since she had originally joined Luminous Rose, and she had stuck to that routine like clockwork for every normal day that she had experienced since that fateful time. It felt like an eternity ago since she had first passed into the depths of the ravine towards the Grand Hall, and taken her first steps towards becoming a fully-fledged member of the guild. Goddess, if she had’ve known then what she did now, then she would have scarcely believed that such progress was even possible for her life. These things, and more, were simply part and parcel for the way she approached life. Sticking to that routine was a very important part of how she kept herself sane, after all. That sanity allowed her to give her all to each and every job that she received, whether it was a kitten rescue from a tree– that happened once– or seeing an ethereal sky whale through a shimmering portal of stars on the surface of a reflecting lake. It was simply the way that all of the guilded mages of Fiore worked their jobs.

When Lyra returned from her morning walk to find a letter pinned to her door, she knew that yet another job had arrived for her. The letter had a very particular floral aroma to it, as well as an incredibly familiar wax seal that closed the parchment; she had received one such letter only recently, the day that the lovely guild mistress Desirée had tasked her to take a skywards trip up towards a floating research facility high above a distant mountain to consult with one of her allies. That day, Lyra had returned successfully from a fight with a woman of such otherworldly and ungodly power that she had been crowned an S-rank mage in the eyes of the guild. It was, in fact, an auspicious day indeed. Receiving one of these letters meant that there was going to be work to be done on behalf of the guild, and Lyra beamed with anticipation as she plucked it clean from her door frame so that her emerald eyes could cast their way down it and read the words penned beautifully to the page.

The details were a little on the sparse side, but it painted a sufficient enough scenario for Lyra to be able to piece together what was happening with this request for an investigation into what was seemingly something dangerous beyond the reckoning of mortal ken; a cult of what appeared to be angels had decided that committing an act of thievery was a sufficiently good idea, and both the words and the polaroid pictures snapped hastily to be included with the data packet confirmed that this was going to be an incredibly difficult task. The way that these beasts simply comported themselves– wicked grins twisted into a vicious rictus– seemed to be an inhuman and otherworldly experience that could not be demonstrated sufficiently with images. It was certainly not a task that any one of them could have completed alone, were any of the members of the Rose brave enough to attempt something so foolhardy on their own. Included in the message was also the meeting place, in not too distant Clover Town; this would be separate to the La Mage Maison that had also scrawled their signature in addition to Desirée’s upon the page. It seemed the logical option that their residence would be the meeting place, and a momentary consultation of her iLac confirmed that theory.

In fact, while her iLac was the device of choice, she decided to consult with her closest confidants; her mentors, the sisters Faulkner, would have either received the same letter to their residences or even potentially already have had knowledge of this particular situation before the letters were delivered. That was their rights as aces of the guild, and being able to support Desirée in this task would have been no small feat. It was unlikely, but possible, that this was entirely the action of the Guildmistress. She was an incredibly busy woman and, with all the time she had to dedicate both to her music career and to the operations of the guild, Lyra could have believed that the girls were helping their leader with this task somehow. Regardless of whatever status they held with this particular incident, the rose quartz mage flipped her iLac open and began to write a message intended for the group chat that the four of them shared. It seemed like the most logical thing to do, and besides, they’d need to be consulted if she was going to run off headfirst into danger. A certain someone would worry, after all.

First, to their group chat. I just got Desi’s letter about this guild job. I’m going to go for sure. You’re all coming, right?

Then, within the next second, Lyra switched over to a more private message, with Jamie. Please tell me you’re coming too. I need you there with me. x

Yes, ladies and germs, Lyra uses proper spelling and punctuation when she writes her messages. This is what happens when you let someone who reads far too avidly and not-so-secretly has a particular viewpoint on how books should be written compose a message. That attitude stays. But, yes, Jamie did in fact receive a little cross with her message, which was all of the breaking of grammatical protocol that Lyra would allow herself.

However, the next hour would be given over to preparation before she took off to the job in question. She would have to check her outfit, her weapons and armour, and ensure that her nerves were sufficiently steeled for the task at hand. None of this promised to be easy, by any stretch of the imagination. However, this was her first outing since reaching the vaunted S-rank qualification. Lyra would have to put on a very strong showing, especially considering that she had been picked most recently for the honour by the Guildmistress. She felt as if she had a lot to prove here. Young Miss Karant was not one to disappoint, by any means. Once her signature new collared red coat festooned with black patterning across its breast, white top, white-trimmed red skirt and knee-high black boots were attached to her body, she reached for the pink scarf that set off the outfit completely. It was certainly the closest thing to an adventuring outfit that she owned, and it would have to do. How important were aesthetics? Well, for this guild, shockingly important - it seemed to be something they all prided themselves on. Lyra had to be part of that.

Sufficiently prepared mentally and physically, Lyra knew that this was the time to take to the skies and make the journey. It would take her most of the day and, knowing that the vast majority of the guild would likely catch the train, she gave herself the entire day to make the whole trip. As she first ascended to the skies upon her pink rose quartz crystal wings, summoned out of pure aether, the familiar onrush of wind was a refreshing feeling that she relished every time she traveled between cities. It was going to be a long trip, that was for sure, fraught with multiple stops, but absolutely nothing beat the wonderful feeling of taking to the skies at full speed and crossing great distances with nothing but your own strength. Taking power, seizing it with both hands, and making yourself better was one of the lessons that Luminous Rose taught - and Lyra had more than taken that to heart. She had, through trial, error and a little luck, borne herself on crystalline wings. Ironic that it was so thematic for the rose guild that she had taken membership of, especially when she typically left a trail of falling cherry blossom petals behind her. The right as a wind slayer to soar through the skies had become hers, and Lyra relished every moment of the boundless freedom that it attracted her. There was nothing better than feeling the wind on your face, and even to fight the turbulence of a low-pressure system forming in the distance. It was an irreplaceable feeling.

Hours passed. Cities, deserts, rivers and mountains all passed underneath her as she traversed beautiful skies, rolling under clouds and all manner of natural weather effects. Truthfully, she had not flown directly to Clover; she wanted to enjoy the trip that she could make to ensure that she got the best opportunity to stretch her legs, so to speak. It was a pleasant journey that she barely even noticed that it was now coming to nightfall upon her arrival; as the sun began to set on a distant horizon shrouded by sky-eclipsing mountains, Lyra began a careful and measured descent towards the Garden.  It seemed that she had picked a wonderful time to arrive, for as she gazed down towards the city that was built upon an island in the centre of a gigantic lake, Lyra could see wisps of pink beginning to take form upon the surface of the water while it reflected the beauty of the stars above. Those pink wisps began to take shape into a glowing, magnificent iridescent bridge, spanning the length of the water to a location unknown as a thousand dancing light followed underneath it like pyreflies; there was no doubt in her mind that it was the work of one of her guild-mates, most likely the Mistress herself. It was the sort of thing that she would do that was just a little bit extra - and Lyra was here for it.

She banked hard as a slipstream followed her, rushing down towards the cafe sitting atop the city walls at the outer edge of the city. It took her mere moments to finish that rapid descent from the skies, where her boots touched down on the stone wall that protected Clover Town from outside influence; she had come to rest precisely where she had meant to, directly outside the door to the cafe in the message. Without a moment’s hesitation, Lyra pushed open the door and crossed the threshold to somewhere new - only to be greeted with a strange sight; there was not one here already, but five. Well, one of these people she knew particularly well; the rest were as of yet unfamiliar. First, Desirée Blooms herself, long pink hair, clad elegantly as ever; it was her signature and one that she was ever grateful to see. Then, three more attendants along with her, fluttering gently; these were unknown to the rose quartz, but no doubt with time. Finally, one entirely different again who seemed to be standing there as she observed the work of the Guildmistress, but with the stamp of the guild upon her hand - she was, no doubt, a new member, and Lyra offered Winona a dazzling smile as best she could.

”Desirée, I hope I’m not too late - and thank you for the invitation,” the rose quartz said with pride as she whisked her wings away back into the aether from which they had came. ”Hopefully the rest will arrive soon. Do we know where anyone else is?”

A pause, before the winged mage gave her attention entirely to the new guild addition. It was rather unlike her not to introduce herself first, but this was a rather peculiar situation and one that would inevitably need to be addressed quickly. ”Oh, gosh, I’m so sorry. Where are my manners? I’m Lyra. It’s nice to meet you… and welcome aboard!”

The rose quartz joined in with the circle, which would soon hopefully grow as more guild members added themselves to the mix. As more time passed, more of them would inevitably form, and the foundation of friendships that had formed in recent times would surely blossom as they had time and time again. Lyra welcomed each and every one of her fellow guild members, for the indelible bonds of camaraderie that they had forged would no doubt be the key to the success of the operation that their guild would surely be embarking upon shortly. It would be a good test– a true test– of the capabilities of each and every one of the people that would inevitably gather soon. Lyra looked forward to it, for there would be plenty of opportunities to mingle with the rest, and stand side by side with them as they faced an unknown and implacable foe.

Post by Katsumi 28th January 2022, 5:43 pm

Katsumi hated her life. Maybe that statement wasn't entirely accurate. She hated her decisions that had led to the massive headache currently attacking her brain. She hated those same decisions that lead to getting onto a train. She hated past decisions that had apparently led to intense sickness on trains. Katsumi really hated that she could remove the sickness if she used that magic. Truthfully, if she'd had a guidebook to where this questline had been leading her to, she would have put it into the ever growing list of 'I'll get to that quest later'. The glorious death place of all uninteresting quests that were only ever picked up for EXP.

What decisions had led to getting on the train? Katsumi's decision to indulge in a little gamer girl time. She'd tried out the new Genshin Smack on her iLac. It hadn't jived with her Need for Speed in a game. It wasn't that she couldn't enjoy it. Eventually, she might pick it back up but Katsumi had needed a little more action. That had led to switching to a little Splendid Stealing Auto V - can't neglect the need for mayhem - after which she'd cued up a session of Duty on Call: Modern Magefare. Those poor noobs hadn't been able to stop her. After dropping her fifth or sixth Etherion Cannon, Katsumi had finished out the night with a little Spiro. You couldn't beat the oldies. Katsumi had fallen asleep in the middle of a level somewhere between 4 AM and 6 AM.

A few hours later, something had been slipped under her door. No matter how many years since escaping LAO, Katsumi couldn't shake being a light sleeper. Blurry eyed and irritated to hell, the gamer girl had awoken the moment she'd heard the rustling. Ghost had immediately flagged the envelope as a VIQI - a Very Important Quest Item. Despite her body crying out for sleep, Katsumi had opened the letter. The invitation from the guild mistress sounded urgent. Furthermore, the swordswoman had resolved not to become a recluse again. First in Midi, then in the Rune Knights, followed by a recluse PI stint, Katsumi didn't want to keep with the pattern. Thus, Katsumi had grabbed her weapon and armor modules in spite of her exhaustion level. Perhaps because of that exhaustion, she nearly walked out in her sleep wear.

The swordswoman decided to pull on her classic outfit. A black combat skirt with red frills, black tights, thigh high combat boots and a belt to hold the modules. A black corset encased her body, offset by a thin grey long sleeve blouse. To complete the ensemble, Katsumi pulled on the red cape that her uncle had given her. Maybe not the best choice, given what he'd done but the cape held her last memories of home. Good memories that got her through the day when her PTSD wouldn't. Quest accomplished: Getting Dressed!

Feeling like she would be late, Katsumi had hoped on the train. Thus her current predicament of feeling sick and being unable to do much of anything. The creepy cursed lacrima residing inside her body pulsed with every movement. It urged her to grasp its power. A snap of her fingers and the lacrima's magic could fix her sickness. All she had to do was reach for it. Katsumi knew it couldn't be that simple. Even without using the lacrima's magic, she felt a hunger for flesh. The desire to eat anything living had pervaded nearly every waking moment. Katsumi struggled not to give in. Should she use the lacrima to ease her discomfort, the hunger would increase tenfold. No amount of Willpower would keep her from eating then. Katsumi decided to suffer in silence instead like she always did.

Upon reaching the town of clover, Katsumi stumbled off. She fell gratefully to her knees, pressing her lips to the train station floor. A gurgling stomach upended the little she'd had eaten onto the floor. "I made it all the way here, only to stumble at the finish line." The swordswoman grumbled, wiping her mouth. The crumpled letter got pulled from a pocket. "Where did the quest marker point to again?" Ghost downloaded a map of Clover Town. In seconds, a mini map popped into Katsumi's field of vision. A flashing marker pointed out the meeting spot. The gamer girl smiled, patting the tiny floating construct. "You're a more useful familiar than your predecessor and less lippy too!"

Stepping outside brought attention to a spectacle. Someone had cast a spell over the lake. It glittered with many twinkling pink lights. Katsumi smiled at the sight. This had the feeling of a World Event. The swordswoman wondered how many other Luminous Rose mages were here. How many had received the invitation? She hoped there would be enough for a Raid Party and that there were enough healers. Tanks too if mages could really be counted as tanks. Katsumi hadn't seen that branch of magic yet. The gamer touched her weapon for comfort before she strode out into the streets.

It took Katsumi a little while to find the meeting place. Even after Ghost led her there, the swordswoman checked it thrice. The construct had been newly repaired after all. When Katsumi couldn't ignore her own avoidance of meeting people, she walked through the doors. Three people were inside. Katsumi recognized Lyra immediately. The other two, she assumed were also Luminous Rose members. Perhaps one was even the head mage of LR. Time to make some dialogue decisions. Katsumi flashed two fingers. "Yo. Lyra, good to see you again. Two people I haven't met: I'm Katsumi."

Nailed it. The swordswoman walked over to a nearby wall and leaned against it. Four people weren't nearly enough for a Raid. There had to be others coming to the party. Katsumi debated trying to make friends. She wanted to but talking to people filled her with anxiety. Here in the real world, you never knew what triggered a death flag or a romance flag or a rival flag. Building your relationship points couldn't be quantified in the real world. The wrong sentence might obliterate all your hard work. Katsumi shivered. Not to mention Katsumi's habit of talking in gamer speak put people off. Once, just once, she'd like to meet someone that understood what she was saying both as a gamer and as a person.

Post by Lucia Winchester 29th January 2022, 12:03 am

-On the outskirts of Clover Town-

It had taken Lucia a while to get ready for the trip to Clover Town. First she had to take a shower, which was no real challenge. Then she had to get dressed, which was slightly more challenging because she had only two outfits to choose from... her normal casual outfit or her "Hornet" cosplay left over from Halloween last year. Lucia did not want to wear the same thing over and over, so she chose to wear the Hornet costume... minus all of the ship parts like the rudders on the back of the boots, the toy rifle, and the carrying case for the rifle that resembled the deck of an aircraft carrier. Wearing the full shipgirl outfit outside of Halloween or an anime convention would make Lucia look absolutely ridiculous.

Once all of the ship parts and other unnecessary components had been removed Lucia was left with a serviceable outfit of a black bomber jacket on top of a blue sleeveless shirt with blue necktie, a long black skirt with a shorter black skirt on underneath it, and black boots. On her right hip was Shining Light, the Holy handgun that had seen her through a lot of challenging jobs. Lucia now had a "new" outfit for this job, but it was only a stopgap measure. She really needed to go shopping soon and find some new clothes to assemble a more practical work outfit that was not a repurposed Halloween costume.

Having arrived on the outskirts of Clover Town after a long walk from Luminous Rose Guild Hall, Lucia pulled a letter from her right jacket pocket and read it to remind herself of where she needed to go. According to the letter from the Guild Mistress herself, the blonde needed to go to a place named La Mage Maison... whatever that was.

Once she read the letter again and learned where she needed to go a new challenge presented itself.

Lucia had never been to Clover Town before today, so getting to where she needed to go was going to be something of a challenge.

-One hour later, at La Mage Maison-

Lucia had wandered around Clover Town a bit longer than she would have liked, but after some wandering she had finally found the destination. Moments after arrival she saw Lyra the pink-haired mage, Katsumi the black-haired mage, and two mages the blonde could not immediately recognize. It seemed that Lucia was not the only one wearing a new outfit for this adventure... Lyra and Katsumi were both wearing outfits Lucia had never seen them wearing before.

Lucia took a minute or two to catch her breath, then walked up to the two familiar mages to introduce herself to them. She raised her right hand in greeting before she spoke.

"Hi Lyra. Hi Katsumi. Nice to see you again." Lucia greeted them with an economy of words. She probably sounded rude, but she had walked a long distance as quickly as she could. Maybe they would not judge her harshly for not initiating an extended conversation with them right away. Once she did not feel like she was about to drop from exhaustion she would speak to them using longer sentences and a more cheerful tone of voice.

After greeting the people she knew Lucia turned and faced the two unfamiliar mages. She raised her right hand in greeting and spoke to them.

"Hi there. I'm Lucia Winchester." Lucia greeted the two strangers with the same economy of words with which she had greeted the mages she knew. Hopefully they too would not be offended by her use of short sentences. After that brief introduction Lucia went silent to give the others a chance to speak.

    OOC: I almost missed this!

There had to be a serious disadvantage that came from having the essences of some weird elder god, a lesser trickster deity, and a human soul all wrapped up snuggly and fitted into the five foot two frame that was Nita Fortune. And while many people thought she lived an enviable life; she was practically immortal, by general consensus she had a fetching appearance (despite her height), she was healthy and full of charisma and life, and so on and so forth, the truth was that the wise would know that with great power did not only come great responsibility, but great burdens as well. It was all well and good when the great responsibility was the burden, but where responsibilities existed alongside burdens, someone as blessed as Nita was could not help but sometimes yearn for the years when she had been normal. At least, even if Pergrandian life had been a little bit strict, life had progressed as expected. Sure, war had certainly been the cause for a lot of tears for the young Nita, and even though she had joined the military, it had been to strive in her own way to bring an end to the hostilities. Which had been why she had summarily enlisted with the diplomatic corps. Then a routine field patrol had turned into an ambush, which had turned into an abduction by alien god things, and boom, someone who had previously hated and feared magic had become the very thing she both hated and feared. To make matters better, Nita could not tell whether many of the thoughts which ran through her brain were hers, or the product of a much more sinister will.

At present, being the ever optimistic person, Fortunita had decided that if she kept on an altruistic path, she would not lose herself. And she had done so, with all the gusto and zest she could muster. It was best to appear as though she was really enjoying her life. That way, even if anyone was envious of the life she led, nobody would have to join her in bearing the burdens that were exclusively hers, and which she bore in measured silence. The silence in which she escaped from the whirlwind of activity that seemed to govern her life and strove to maintain the inner calm with which she could bear up the outer energy of what she appeared to be to the world. And so she had stayed in her own corner of the universe, her private space, her Ark, reading a book. While it wasn’t a particularly engaging book, it did have a few moments, and as the ancients said, the deepest lessons could be learned from even the most mundane things. The book had been summarily concluded in inhumanly short time, and Nita rose to her feet and tapped the great spinning orb in the center of her Ark. As she was drawn into the interdimensional space between worlds, she focused her mind on the other place she could call home: a small apartment in a corner of Hosenka. She’d chosen this place simply because it was quite close to her guild, Luminous Rose, although Nita wasn’t sure she’d been a good guild member, always running off on her own. Well, it was believed among humans that the rambunctious and lively ones were the friendliest of the pack, so Nita decided to operate as such. There was some personal satisfaction to be had in making new friends, in any case, and who knew, there could be fun activities thrown in as well, if the guild leader was anything to go by.

Nita exited the interdimensional sea in her apartment, and immediately sensed residual magic. Seemed like the magical mailing system had been in effect, and she had received a letter. She looked to the door of the apartment and saw the letter in its rose-pink envelope. Most likely some sort of guild correspondence. Nita picked the letter and opened it, reading the contents and looking at the images. It was not the message in the letter, but the images of these supposedly angelic creatures, that disturbed her. There was something so wrong in their smiles, and even though this was a picture, even the aura that seemed to have been captured by whoever had had the wits to take this picture seemed… off, for lack of a better word. So far, the mission seemed simple enough in its requirements: get in, kick angelic demon butt, get the statues, and don’t forget to take names while doing so. Perhaps the mission details were simple in apparent expression, simply because the mission itself was rather vague in its wording. Nita shrugged and placed the letter on a table. The details would most definitely be given when she arrived at the place of meeting.

All of this had happened days ago, giving enough time for any guild member interested to make their way to Clover Town, situated idyllically at the center of a lake. And Nita had not bothered to make any moves yet. This was definitely one of the downsides of having on-demand teleportation: it made you lazy in a sense. In any case, Nita didn't waste the free hours. She had spent her time researching on what she could about this mission in question. Truthfully, there was little to be gleaned from public information databases, but even knowing just a little bit about a matter could draw the line between life and death. Nita checked the time. The moment of the rendezvous was at hand. A black card formed in her hand and she threw it into the air. It stood vertically in thin air and expanded to form a portal, which the blonde mage walked into.

To the gathering of Luminous Rose mages assembled at the shore of the lake, there would suddenly be a rift in space time, as a rectangular portal quickly took shape, hanging in the air. Out of this portal strode Fortunita, and the interdimensional doorway closed behind her, and all was as it had been a couple of seconds ago, except that there was a soaked, blonde young woman standing where had been nothing a little while back. Even as she wrung the strange water out of her hair, water which evaporated before reaching the ground, she looked up and grinned at the gathering. ”Hey everyone! Ms. Fortune has arrived, pun intended.” Of course, it would sound as though she had said, ‘misfortune has arrived’. She looked at the bridge that stretched across the cold dark waters. ”That’s very nifty and convenient,” she mused audibly, mentally running through the apparent structural integrity of the structure. Then apparently realizing that she hadn’t particularly made the best of introductions, she grinned sheepishly, by this time totally dry now. ”Um, you can all please call me Nita, to whom it may concern.”

“Mysie, don’t you even dare think of blowing anything up. Blair, keep your simping to a minimum. You can simp harder after we’re done with the task Desirée has in store for the guild. Maybe if you show off to her instead she’ll let you simp harder.” Jamie says as she holds up her rifle and starts polishing the barrel with a cloth. The trio were on a train nearing Clover Town, the designated location of where the guild was to meet up together. There was a cafe that Desirée wanted them all to meet at, so she guessed they were having coffee first. Or at least herself. She pinched her nose a bit as Mysie snickered to their older sister.

While they were sitting there, the trio got a message on their iLacs at the same time. Lyra messaged them asking if they were going on the job too. Mysie was typing already.

‘Yeah, we’re almost to Clover Town already.’

They messaged before pressing send. Jamie had gotten a second message, and softly snickered. Her siblings didn’t seem to pay one bit of attention to her as she smiled softly to her iLac while she typed.

‘Yes, I’ll be there. Blair’s going for Desirée, and Mysie’s a little bit in a bad mood and wants to see if they can destroy things. I gotta babysit. See you when you get to the cafe. ♡’

A while later, the train started to slow down it seemed and the older redheaded woman looked out the window towards the slightly lit up town with a small glare. “Behave. Or I’ll skin both of your hides.” She threatened, but the two younger siblings knew it was an empty threat. The train lurched to a stop and the siblings each filed off of the train when they were allowed to, Mysie up front, followed by Blair, then Jamie. The trio had no idea where they were, but they managed to find a map in the train station and Mysie found the location of the cafe that Desirée wanted them all to meet up at. With a nod, Jamie started to usher the two towards the exit of the station to start finding the cafe in person. Blair had the map as she wanted to be the one to find Desirée, and that was fine with Jamie as it kept her busy.

Mysie had their hands in their oversized red coat with a thin, but soft, trim to the collar that covered a white tank top and a pair of black shorts similar to the ones that Jamie herself wore with her black bikini top. Blair decided she needed to be different and wore herself a pair of light pink pants with embroidered rose patterns on the sides as well as a salmon pink spaghetti strap top that pushed up her chest some under a dyed pastel pink jean jacket. The only thing that all three of the siblings wore similar to one another were the black boots that they sported. Jamie had insisted that they wear them for the potentially excessive walking and to ground them better. Blair at least found them fashionable enough, though she changed the laces out to have them be pink ones instead to match the rest of her outfit.

The trio made their way through the town with Blair in the lead, eventually coming across the mage cafe just a ways down the street from them. Blair stopped and pointed her hand up towards the building. “Right there! That’s the place we have to go to~!” She giggles happily to her siblings. Of course the singer felt really proud of her temporary leadership position.

“You sure you have the right place, Blair?” Jamie asked as she put a hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow. Mysie was tapping away at a game on their iLac while they walked, finding amusement in it while they weren’t doing anything of importance, that included the squabble that was to happen between their two older siblings just then.

“Of course I’m sure I have the right place! The map says it’s here anyways!” After she said that, she just barely noticed the bridge going from a window of the cafe towards the other side of the lake. Blair seemed to also blink before looking towards Jamie, wondering if her older sister saw what she saw. She did. She also noticed someone gliding down to where the cafe was and going inside. “Was that Lyra?” Blair asked as she continued to walk on forward towards where the cafe was, before realizing that Desirée was there and she wanted to see her idol immediately. She started off in a jog before going into a sprint.

“Blair! Stop!” Jamie cries out towards her younger sister before she ran after her. Mysie just continued to walk on casually behind the group as their sisters ran ahead.

Of course Blair was first to burst into the cafe and notice the rose covered stairs and run up those, skipping steps towards the top before instantly locking her green eyes on her idol. “Desirée~!” She squeals happily as she attacks the guildmistress with a literal glomp and was snuggling up to her.

Jamie burst in shortly after Blair, breathing a little heavily for the unintended cardio workout that Blair gave her older sister, and partially stormed up the stairs. “Blair you lil shit!” She grumbled under her breath before she made it to the top of the stairs and noticed others there. She closed her eyes briefly before taking a deep breath. “Hello everyone. That is Blair, and I’m Jamie… Mysie is… on their way.” She pinched the bridge of her nose when she realized that Mysie was taking her sweet time to get there. She made her way towards a table on the floor. Jamie knew she met a chunk of these members at least, but it didn’t hurt to make sure everyone knew.

A few minutes later, the straggler, short haired redhead came waltzing in. They tapped their toes up the stairs calmly before they reached the top. On their iLac was a game making noises as if the player was attacking something so one could hear ‘Hi-ya! Hi-ya!’ and sword clashes coming from it. With a sigh, Mysie turned the screen off before slipping the iLac into their pocket and giving a wave before snapping their fingers to get Jamie’s attention. Jamie’s emerald green eyes looked up to see Mysie signing in Stellan Sign Language (SSL), and groaned. “‘Hello, I am Mysie. Nice to meet you all. I see there are similar faces here already. I’m hungry though so I need food.’ Mysie! Get yourself some food then goodness child…” Jamie groaned as she rubbed her temple after translating the sign language. “Why don’t you use your text-to-speech app anyways?”

Mysie pulled out their iLac again and then typed out something before pressing a button. A moment later, a Stellan accented voice came from the iLac’s speaker.

“Because if I use the app, then it is no fun. Why use an app when I can make you speak instead for me?”

Mysie gave a devilish grin towards their older sister, who was now shooting daggers at their youngest sibling. It was obvious that Jamie wanted to pop off Mysie’s head today, but was holding herself back from doing so.

Post by Kanna 9th June 2022, 3:16 am

There was another looking to join the order of roses this day, er, night, and that was one very clueless Kanna. Admittedly getting lost more times than she could count in this confusing world outside of Sin, the young demoness had been looking for a guild that had the right thetikí enérgeia (good vibes), and Luminous Rose was the only one she'd heard of that made her delicate heart swell. Though she had no idea what the words 'Exceeding Ethereality' meant and had no rivals to speak of to surpass, the other two pillars within the guild-- protecting innocents and family-- were notions she was very, very keen on. If only it hadn't taken her ages to figure out what and where Hosenka and Sakuramori were, and even longer still to locate the ravine she'd been vaguely pointed toward for the hall's location. However, Kanna was not one to give up, and finally it paid off!

    And she'd missed them!

After hearing only a few details about Luminous Rose's current mission with disappointed tears in her eyes, Kanna, suffering from tunnel vision, immediately took off hot on the Grand Mistress' heels for Clover Town. Back onto the train she went, though Kanna really found trains quite frightening. There seemed to be a few different types. Some were fast, some were still fast but slower than the others, and some smelled like the acrid air of home! If there were trains in Sin, she had never happened across one or had the experience of riding one. The clacking noise and subtle jostling was unsettling and wouldn't allow her to sleep to pass the time. It was also quite costly for an immigrant with no income and officially no more jewel to her name. Paying for things was a strange concept to the horned girl. Sin's economy was bartering... and violence. If they weren't still in Clover Town by the time she arrived, she wasn't sure what she'd do! Her shoes weren't really meant for walking all the way back to their Guild Hall, and it'd take her potentially days, if not weeks!

Oh, what a mess. The whole train ride was spent fretting, wondering about what ifs and but thens. Her stress level had officially skyrocketed. What if the train flew off the rails? What if the master of the guild wasn't in Clover Town? What if she was denied entry because she had horns sticking out?

However! She would not rest until she met with this Desirée Blooms or anyone else within the guild who could admit her. This world was a large and unfamiliar face. Desperately, she sought a safe place to belong.

Arriving in the lake-bound town once night had already fallen, the horned young woman paused only a moment to marvel at all of the brilliantly lit pink magic and crystals over the lake, giving the strange but beautiful bridge construct that stretched over it a good long look before she quickly made her way to the wooden café. Ordinary as it may be to others, there weren't things like this back in Sin, so her mouth silently formed a "wow' as she ascended the stairs. Stepping through the archway, she noted three staircases. Just as she was looking around to ask someone which would take her to the meeting of the guild of glowing roses, her magenta eyes caught the twinkle of crystal roses and petals on the tallest of the spiraling steps. That had to be it. Hopefully she wasn't too late!

Pausing outside of the meeting room at the top of the staircase, Kanna paused again just out of sight, but this time to try and compose herself. She heard voices inside. As her tunnel vision wore off, the bluette was suddenly filled with anxiety. How many people were in there? Would she be interrupting? How would she know if she would be allowed to come along on something potentially important as a brand new member, assuming they let her join? A shaky breath escaped a parted pink pout, and for just a moment, the demon girl faltered. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Perhaps she should go all the way back and wait outside the guild hall until they returned successful.

No! She'd come all this way! Reaching up to fluff her light blue waves in hopes of making her horns of red and black less noticeable, she smoothed the wrinkles out of her skirt and stepped around the corner and into the room with as much confidence as she could muster. Which wasn't a lot once she saw there were twelve people inside already chattering, not a single one familiar to her in any way. "A!" she quietly exclaimed, jolting to a stop in the doorway. How would she know who the Grand Mistress was?

Also, why did most of them have some sort of shade of red or pink for a haircolor? All of them were in a complimentary pallet and here she was, the sore blue thumb with horns! Was it a requirement to look good with their pink rose emblem? Did people section off by aesthetically matching hair outside of Sin? She'd never taken the time to notice! Oh no! She clenched her hands tightly in front of her skirt, but would shoot her shot anyway.

"Ah," she hesitated, nearly breaking into a sweat as her brain frantically translated a greeting into Fiorean. The more she tried not to come off weird, the weirder she felt she was being. "Hello, I am Kanna," the Alpha announced, though her voice was so soft and quiet it could barely make it above the chatter. "I am looking to join Luminous Rose under Grand Mistress Desirée Blooms. Do I have the right place and people?" she asked, her words a little stilted but ultimately in the correct language. Her eyes melted from the determined magenta they were into a spooked orange and flicked between each face for answers. The moment of truth!

Post by Zincarla 23rd December 2022, 2:28 pm

Zincarla was shocked to find the letter under her door in Magnolia Town. Of course, she had given her alternative address to the guild, so that they could reach her for important missions or emergencies. She picked up the letter, folded in half and smelling like flowers and frowned. She spent about half of her time closer to the guild itself, and half of her time living here with her friends, a rare word for her vocabulary. As she turned the letter over and opened it, Zincarla knew it had to be very important for the guild to reach out to her here. Not to mention, she was still very new to the guild; they must really have needed her help.

The dark haired woman flipped the page with the fluid motion of just one finger, reading the contents slowly. One might have thought that she was being careful, but the truth was that she not gotten the best education, having grown up in the streets of unwelcome Bellum and then behind bars for a decade after. It was frustrating, but glaring at the words didn't make them any easier to sort out. She got a general gist and folded it back up into her pocket. Statues were stolen, apparently it was important enough to summon her to a cafe in Clover Town for a meeting. That part was reassuring at the least, knowing she would get much more information in person than from the letter, and maybe she could keep up the facade of reading by just showing up there. Though her magical power was remarkable, she was afraid of what the other members might think of her other abilities.

Zincarla packed a sparse over the shoulder bag with a change of clothes meant for both cold, hot and neutral temperatures. Until she had a better sense of the world and its climates, Zincarla always packed many different outfits to accommodate her. It helped that she didn't need to lug any weapons or armor around, and that her magic didn't even need a tome or staff. Though, sometimes she did carry a staff for the important look of it or the slightly added ease it gave her in casting spells. It was much more sentimental or ornamental than necessary for her uses. The witch didn't bother leaving a note for her friends, she wasn't much of a writer either, and they were used to her vanishing acts regardless. So they would know she would be back, Zincarla left a bottle of sake on the kitchen table: a promise to return and drink it with them, unless Sojiro took it upon himself to down it on his own while sitting up on the roof again.

Dressed in her usual pink and black affairs, the spirit mage left her home in Magnolia Town and found the train station with ease. She hadn't been to Clover Town before but listening carefully to the people and conductors at the station made finding her train simple. She didn't know what all the fuss was about when it came to reading- with iLacs and people talking openly everywhere, there was never a real reason to learn to read. It didn't change what she was good at. And finally, this would be a chance to meet the mages of her new guild and prove to them that she was useful and powerful with her arcane arts. She would make sure that nobody doubted her.

Time passed and Zincarla spent much of that time sleeping or drinking the tea from the cart dragged up and down the halls of the train. She was ready to get up and move around when Clover Town came into view. From the window, she could see the lights coming closer and a soft pink glow about the lake. It was almost as if the guild knew about her shortcomings and had sent her a bright rosy beacon to help her, but she wouldn't complain. Within another hour, she carried her bag and trekked to the cafe, excitedly keeping track of her whereabouts so she could do some exploring tomorrow. That was assuming she would have time in the morning, of course. Zincarla found the cafe and felt slightly intimidated upon opening the door, seeing so many faces she didn't know and feeling a powerful aura of magical energy emanating from them. She swallowed hard and moved quickly to the wall, the safe place in prison, where nobody could get behind you and attack.

It was an embarrassingly sheltered choice, but like with her skills of reading, few noticed her odd habits or pointed them out to her. Zincarla let out a breath of relief, hearing that the chatter in the room hadn't ceased on her account. Her magenta eyes drifted upwards and she watched the guild leader in serious conversation with others. Her lips pressed together in a tight line and she whispered, "I think I missed something in that letter." Thinking only she could hear, she was surprised when she looked around and caught sight of another mage standing directly beside her, arms crossed. Zincarla must have sidled up to them and the mutual quiet between them scarcely made her noticeable. Zincarla blushed, "I ... I just got a chance to scan it is all, before the wind took it from me," She lied hastily, feeling the weight of the letter folded up in her pocket. The weight seemed to double in strength as she added, "I'm sorry, you prolly wanted a bit of space and I just barreled in here up next to you. I'm Zincarla, you can ask me to move if you like. I won't be upset."
