Loner no more

This was definitely the eatery he mentioned Rei had to admit it was charming and the general appeal was to his liking however it wasn't very crowded which he didn't mind in the slightest. He chose a table close to the front that way his team mate would be able to spot him right away. Rei had only spoken with Lance a few times and both exchanges were slightly stilted almost lackluster, but he was convinced that the guy was simply not a people person so he would endeavor to pick up the slack as far as the conversation was concerned. He picked up the drink menu and held it close to his face. "Wonderful I choose today to forget my glasses..." he muttered squinting at the words.

Lance woke up in his bed at the guild hall and looked at his clock Lacrima. "Crap.... I'm late to go meet Rei at the eatery." Lance got up and got dressed in a hurry. "Hey Wolfy you ready to go meet Rei?!" Lance yelled as he walked out of his room followed by Wolfy his lovable pet and his trustworthy companion. When he got to the door he put his hood on and ventured out into the streets of Magnolia.

Lance and Wolfy ran down the streets to try to get to the eatery before Rei left. When they got tired they slowed to a calm paced walk. "I don't like being late because it makes people have to wait...." Lance muttered to himself and put his hands in his pockets with his hood still on. he shook his head as he looked at the sky.

A couple minutes later he opened the door to the eatery and walked in. He looked around and saw that Rei was already there sitting at a table. Lance walked over and sat down with his hood still on and Wolfy flew over and sat down on the table also. "Sorry I'm late.... So anyway, what's up?"

He looks up from his menu and gives him a friendly smile. "Actually I was just about to order our drinks to start off with, but we can talk about the particulars over a nice meal. I hear this place has a nice spread and well lets be honest an army marches on it's stomach." his tone was warm and brotherly as always as he gestured toward the empty seat in front of him.

Lance sat in the seat and took off his hood and stared at Rei for a few seconds. "If your hungry then we could order something." Lance called over a waiter to take their order. "Yes sir what would you like to drink." The waiter had a kind smile on his face and wore a white apron. "Ah yes I would like 2 waters." Lance said remembering to order a second water for Wolfy. The waiter bowed and walked away. Lance looked at Rei with a faint but kind smile "So, what did you want to talk about?"

He looks over at Lance the smile that he had before had diminished somewhat making him look much older than he actually was it was amazing how he managed to keep a cool head what with everything he had been through before joining the guild. "Well since we are a team of sorts it has come to my attention that we might need to find a job soon. Granted I'm far less experienced when it comes to eeking out a living from the more dangrous fair. My girlfriend always handled that sort of thing I was more of the tactition. What I'm trying to say is that if you ever need help with anything and I do mean anything just let me know and I will endeavor to help you in any way that I can." he was dead serious and completely earnest about wanting to help Lance.

Lance nodded his head at the loyalty of his teammate "I like you Rei, I will take you up on that offer.". Rei was obviously older than him and Lance was hiding that he was exited about being on a team with him. Lance made another faint smile as the waiter brought the drinks. Lance nodded to him and ordered some taco's. Lance looked at Rei and smirked "I got your back out their in the jobs." Lance put his thumb and had a big smile on his face.

Rei returned the smile as he reached for his water and took a sip he would have to keep an eye on Lance he seemed like a good kid, but there was wildness to him that Rei couldn't help but notice. "Lance you do seem awfully young to be on your own sorry I usually speak my mind, but I can't help but note that little detail about you. True we will rely on one another but I would never want you to put yourself in danger." he paused for a moment to look over at the younger man. "So lets just take it a step at a time, but I have a feeling that we are going to be fast friends."
