Re: Halloween Time In Magnolia Town
Wearing the same "shipgirl" costume that she had worn last year complete with toy rifle inside the case slung on her right shoulder that doubled as the deck to the aircraft carrier she was dressed as the anthropomorphic personification of, Lucia walked into Magnolia Town dressed as the aircraft carrier Hornet. Lucia made sure not to hit anyone with the case as she walked through Magnolia Town and walked among numerous costumed festival attendees dressed in as many types of costume as there were people. In the first few minutes of being here Lucia saw people dressed as pirates, vampires, black-clad Parasol Company soldiers from the video game Malevolent Tenant, anime characters from many anime titles she did not know the name of, a few fighting game characters from a fighting game named Avenue Brawler, and many other types of costume.
Magnolia Town had spared no expense for the decorations, which were varied and abundant. Lucia saw rubber bats hanging upside down from the undersides of several awnings, smiling jack-o-lanterns placed alongside streets, on doorsteps, and on top of tables at restaurants. She also saw black and orange banners festooning some buildings and orange banners with a smiling jack-o-lantern face festooning other buildings. She even saw a few animatronic black cats sitting on fences that turned and hissed at passersby whenever someone approached. Lucia walked along the busy streets until she came across a red-haired young woman dressed as a witch.
The redhead had long copper hair and piercing green eyes that almost glowed. She was dressed in traditional black witch clothing right out of a storybook and a black hat that concealed some of her face in shadow. She was stirring a cauldron with a long wooden stick. When Lucia approached she looked up at the blonde.
"Welcome to the Witch's Brew activity, darling. Would you care to try some of my brew?" The event staff member asked.
"Certainly." Lucia answered in the affirmative. The witch produced a plastic bottle and dipped it in the cauldron. Lucia heard bubbling as the liquid rushed into the empty bottle and heard a subdued sloshing sound as the bottle was pulled from the cauldron.
"Here you go, sweetie!" The witch said, holding out the bottle for Lucia to take. The blonde took the bottle of light blue brew with both hands and held it as she began to drink. She noted a light blueberry flavor as she drank it and when she was finished she saw a flash of blue fill her vision and stay there for a count of five seconds.
When the blue finally faded Lucia looked around her and saw ghosts everywhere she looked. The blonde was not happy about that because they reminded her of the fact that she too should be dead. However, someone or something had brought her back to life for a reason she did not know.
"Here you go, sweetie! You get a Skull Token for trying my brew!" The witch said, exchanging the empty bottle for a coin-sized token with a grinning skull on it.
"Thanks." Lucia said as the witch returned to her cauldron. The blonde looked all around her and saw numerous ghosts. While most of them ignored her and milled about unseen among the living, a few spirits looked back at Lucia with empty holes where eyes should have been.
It had only been a few seconds since she had consumed the witch's brew and Lucia already hated seeing ghosts.

Re: Halloween Time In Magnolia Town
Several minutes after partaking of the Witch's Brew and coming away with the ability to see ghosts Lucia was looking for something else to do in order to take her mind off of what she was seeing when she came across another activity with no line to wait in. A young woman with blonde hair that flowed to her lower back dressed in a black witch dress that was a little shorter than the norm plus a black witch's hat was leaning on the counter to a booth devoted to an activity named "Coffin Up Candy." Lucia stopped in place and looked at the booth while doing her best to ignore the ghosts floating around the area and walking all around her. The witch's blue eyes met Lucia's and the former stood up straight.
"Hey there. Wanna try your hand at Coffin Up Candy?" The young woman asked the blonde mage. Lucia ignored a ghost standing behind the young woman and made eye contact with the event staff member.
"Certainly. How does the activity work?" Lucia confirmed that she was interested in playing and asked the witch how it worked. The young woman smiled.
"It's easy. I'm gonna place a piece of candy inside one of three small coffins that you see on the counter." The other blonde explained, pointing towards the three small coffins that were indeed lying on the counter. Lucia looked towards them as the witch opened one of the three and placed a piece of candy in a pink wrapper inside of it, then closed the door.
"Now that you've seen which tiny coffin the candy was placed in, I'm gonna shuffle them around with magic like this." She explained the next step. She raised both hands above the small coffins and her hands began to glow purple. Lucia did her best to keep track of where the candy had been placed and when the coffins had been magically shuffled around several times they finally stopped in place standing on their ends and facing Lucia.
"All right, lady. Time to choose the coffin you want me to open. Which one do you think has the candy inside?" The witch asked. Lucia looked over the three coffins for a moment, then selected the third one, which was on the right. She pointed towards it with her right index finger.
"So you think that's the one, huh?" The witch inquired. Lucia nodded.
"Yes." Lucia replied calmly and confidently. The witch opened the coffin pointed out by Lucia and inside was a small piece of candy in a pink wrapper. The other blonde smiled at Lucia.
"You were right!" She cheerfully announced. She briefly ducked behind the booth and came up holding a small clear orange bag of candy with silhouettes of bats and witches riding broomsticks decorating it. In her other hand was something that Lucia did not see until it was set on the counter, but Lucia thought that she heard the sound of something metal hitting wood.
"Here you go, Miss! You win a bag of candy plus a Skull Token!" The witch said. Lucia took both items and looked at the young woman, who now had a ghost standing to her left. The ghost had empty eye sockets and was glaring at Lucia for whatever reason... the blonde mage's skin was beginning to crawl from looking into the empty eye sockets.
"Thanks." Lucia thanked the event staff member for running the activity and telling her how it worked. The two blonde then parted ways: the witch began to attend to another festival attendee who wanted to play Coffin Up Candy and Lucia began to look for another activity to participate in. She was not sure what she wanted to do, but she was sure that she would find something else fun to do before she called it a festival.

Re: Halloween Time In Magnolia Town
Some time after completing Coffin Up Candy Lucia was standing in front of a black event sign with orange lettering. The sign listed the other activities festival attendees could choose from and there were indeed quite a few to choose from, but none of them really appealed to Lucia. The Tunnel of Terror was a no-go and so was the Field Of Screams. Lucia did not feel like being scared tonight... besides, she already had to cope with seeing ghosts everywhere she looked.
Whack-A-Ghoul also did not sound very fun, but that was because she had killed so many ghouls on jobs to Silent Cemetery and Abandoned Cabin that she did not want to play a game based around it. The blonde looked up from the sign to see a ghost floating just above it and staring down at her with empty eye sockets. The blonde's skin crawled and she looked at the sign again to try and distract herself from the unwanted companion.
Lucia looked at the sign and was just about to give up and try the Tunnel Of Terror just to do something other than stand around and look at ghosts when she spotted something called "A Little Night Music." The blonde's attention was instantly drawn to it and she spotted a skeletal hand pointing the way to the right, which provided a general direction of where the activity was being held. Leaving her unwanted spectral "friend" behind, Lucia began to walk in the direction of A Little Night Music at a brisk walking pace and soon merged with a small crowd of people heading in the same direction.
-At A Little Night Music, seventeen minutes later-
Once she had set out on the trail all Lucia had to do was follow her ears the rest of the way. When she finally got to the area where the activity was being held she noticed the layout of the area. All along the edges of the venue were individual seats for lone attendees. Near the back were long rectangular tables decorated with orange and black tablecloths and a smiling jack-o-lantern in the center of the table. Off to the sides of the long tables were smaller square tables undoubtedly meant for smaller groups of people.
Lucia's eyes were drawn to the stage, which was large and spacious. It was so large that a full orchestra could easily fit on it with room to spare. On each side of the stage was a medium-sized tower speaker and in the center of the stage was a DJ dressed as the Western portrayal of the Grim Reaper tending to a turntable that was playing old Halloween music from way before Lucia was born. The DJ wore the black robes and a skull mask on their face along with skeleton gloves to complete the look.
Lucia turned away from the stage to look around the venue and she learned that there were quite a few people in attendance and both the small square tables and the long rectangular ones were already taken. The only empty seating left was the individual chairs and all of the open ones were in the back, so Lucia would make haste to claim a seat before they were all taken. After a short and brisk walk Lucia found an empty seat in the middle of the back seating area and claimed it as her own. She took the toy rifle case that doubled as the deck to the aircraft carrier off of her right shoulder and set it on the ground to her right, then sat down.
Once the blonde was seated she faced the stage, where the DJ was still manning the turntable but had been joined by a troupe of dancers dressed as zombies who began dancing to an upbeat song called "Thriller." Lucia liked the song and she liked the coordination of the dancers, who performed each and every move in unison. The rest of the people in attendance seemed to like the performance too because every face was directed towards the stage to watch it. Lucia was so busy watching the dance that she was startled when a young blonde woman dressed as a storybook princess complete with silver tiara and purple dress with purple high heels handed her a Skull Token.
Lucia thanked the young woman, who nodded and quickly moved on to dole out more Skull Tokens to participants in A Little Night Music. With the Skull Token in hand Lucia turned her attention back to the stage, where the dance troupe was still dancing. Once the current song was over Lucia would decide whether she stayed a bit longer or called it a night and started the trip back to Luminous Rose Guild Hall.

Re: Halloween Time In Magnolia Town
-One hour and twenty minutes later-
After getting the third Skull Token from A Little Night Music Lucia had opted to stay a little longer at the festival because she was not in any real hurry to go home. After leaving the venue for A Little Night Music she had walked around the entirety of the festival area looking at the costumes people were wearing and looking at the decorations while ignoring the ghosts who were walking among the crowd. Once she had seen everything that could be seen she decided to just call it a night and start the long trip back to Luminous Rose Guild Hall. There was no point in delaying the trip any longer.
Lucia stopped at the side of a busy street and waited for a crowd of festival attendees to pass by, then went the opposite way and headed for the town outskirts once she could do so without getting in anyone's way. The crowds entering the festival were much denser than those leaving the festival, but in a few minutes the density of the crowds would no longer be a problem for her. The road home would be long and mostly empty, which was fine with her.
Lucia was glad she had decided to attend the festival tonight. She had seen a lot of costumes from a lot of different sources, she had partaken in three interesting activities, and she had even won a small bag of strawberry-flavored Halloween candy from Coffin Up Candy. A Little Night Music was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening for her... there had been plenty of seating for everyone and the music was as diverse as it was good. Whoever had come up with the music program for the night deserved a lot of credit.
The Luminous Rose mage was in such a good mood that she hardly paid any attention to the ghosts walking around her as she reached the town outskirts. With the three Skull Tokens safely zipped up in the small pocket on the left sleeve of her jacket, her toy rifle case slung on her right shoulder, and small bag of Halloween candy in her right hand, Lucia was ready for the trip home. It would take awhile for her to reach her destination, but she did not mind at all. She had walked all the way here to attend the festival and she would walk all the way back home.
