Personality:
Duke(as he likes to be called) is a man who has lived long enough to know what he wants. Quiet life where he only has to worry about himself and nothing else. Due to this, he can be quite passive when it comes to life, willing to often time ignore insults to himself and making choices that are "good enough". He will even often say this, choosing to let others make decisions so as long their not too outlandish. Speaking of this, duke is also pretty vocal, not afraid to let his opinion be known. Though sometimes this can be seen as him complaining(and usually it is), but he can't be faulted for not speaking his mind.

Truth is though, what he says and does are often two different things. While he may talk about wanting to be alone and do the bare minimum, he will go out of his way to help another if they need it(he won't be the first to admit though he's doing this out of the goodness of his heart). Those who know him more will also see he is quite compassionate, especially more so toward animals and other non-human beings. He can even be considered a songbird, if he believes no one is listening he will hum or sing aloud a tune.

To preface, duke does not like combat. Preferring to take the route of a pacifist, he will often go through great lengths to ensure their is no fight. However if forced into one, then he will engage in warfare that could only be described as, "A fast and violent escalation." Beginning combat, Duke will absolutely go all out as if his life defended on it, using any tactic and any method to end the fight as quickly as he can. He will do this for two reasons, the first to end the fight he did not want. The second though is that if he shows a gruesome enough display of power, it will convince other threats to back off long enough for him to escape from the situation. And while it seems like this is a desperate man's tactic, the fact is he has a wealth of military experience to draw off of, and can adjust depending on his circumstances.

As for leading and being lead, he perform roles rather well being a former soldier. Though he would prefer not too in either case, not enjoying the responsibility and overall conflict.


Likes:

• Peace: Whether relaxing or just listening to a background of people going about their day, it's rather enjoyable to be in a stress free environment
  
• Pegrande countryside: The winters and springs of his homeland are wonderful to witness, and he can recount many days where he sat around and enjoyed them as they passed by
  
• Helping others: Even if he wants to pretend otherwise, the truth is he doesn't like to see anyone going through trouble, especially if he can do something about it.
  

Dislikes:

• Battles: Duke can see the appeal of a boxing fight, or two lads wrestling in the yard over a girl. But battles or wars leave a sour taste in his mouth
  
• Pegrande military: Being apart of it for a few years, he sees the cost for the glory of the Pegrande empire, and frankly finds the price too high to pay
  
• Injustice: Overall unfair treatment of others, punishments that do not fit the crimes, and everything in between. His strong sense of justice refuses to let him to overlook such acts.
  
• Magic: Despite his time in Fiore, Duke still shows uncertainty when it comes to the topic of mages, especially after recent tragedies such as Joya.
  

Motivations:

• Settle down: Duke wishes that he himself can forget about the world, find his own piece of land, and work it while he is left alone.
  
• Understanding magic: While Duke is uncomfortable with magic and mages, he understands this is from his upbringing, and wishes to understand it more so he can look past the stereotypes
  
• Finding love: A cliche maybe, but the subject is on his mind. More often then he'd like to admit
  

Fears:

• Battles and wars: Duke pacifism is born after having a chance to reflect on his military service, and finding that he had no disgust over the atrocities he committed, even enjoying the thrill. So he fears that the next time he gets in a bloody conflict he may decide to forgo peace.
  
• Manipulation: Duke's hands off attitude is born from a fact that he sometimes will help others even to his own determent, and fears that this will lead to his own death or worse.
  
• Helplessness: The idea that all of his actions are for naught, useless in the wave of death and injustice that travels across the world, is one that motivates him to retreat away from it.
