Diana's Movie Day Empty Re: Diana's Movie Day

Post by Diana Winchester 7th March 2022, 3:14 am

    -Diana's Townhouse, the mini-kitchen, 11:00 A.M.-

Wearing her usual outfit of purple t-shirt, black skirt, white thigh-high stockings, and black tennis shoes, Diana stood in the mini-kitchen listening to the television she had bought just a few days ago. It was a wall-mounted 60" flatscreen television that was perfect for Diana's needs. It was a good-quality television that had a large screen that was big but was not overly large to the point of being hard to watch anything on. Ami was pleased with it and was watching a car auction show set in Motor City with rapt attention.

Diana was not nearly as invested in the television as Ami was... Diana was busy rummaging in the refrigerator for a drink and listening to the auction of an old silver sports car that was produced thirty years ago when the doorbell rang. The blonde emerged from the refrigerator and shut the door.

"I wonder who's at the front door? Want me to get it?" Ami asked Diana without looking away from the television as the latter walked out of the mini-kitchen.

"I will get it, thank you." Diana politely turned down the winged android's offer to get the door in favor of answering the door herself. Diana walked briskly across the living room and walked to the door. She unlocked it and opened it to find Amber standing outside.

"Hey Diana!" Amber greeted Diana warmly. Before the blonde could reply Amber reached out and grabbed Diana in a tight hug. Diana's skin crawled as she silently endured the hug until she was released from it.

"Hello Amber." Diana greeted the dark-haired young woman once she was free from the latter's unexpected embrace. Diana looked at Amber and saw that the latter was dressed in a white t-shirt and a short black skirt with white tennis shoes. Amber made eye contact with Diana.

"I've come here to tell you that I finally got a day off. If you're still up for it, I'd like to go to a movie later today." Amber informed Diana. The blonde thought back to their last meeting and remembered that Amber had wanted to go to a movie whenever she had a day off of work. Amber had been forced to take a rain check, but today she was here to cash it in.

"I am still up for it." Diana calmly informed her sort-of neighbor. Amber smiled.

"Great! I talked to Catherine and she'll be going with us... if you don't mind her joining us, that is." Amber informed Diana that a third person would be joining them for the trip.

"That is fine with me." Diana replied calmly. She had no problem with a third person joining them, especially since she knew the individual.

"Great! Listen, I've gotta get our tickets, so I'll catch up with you later. I'll see you again around 4:15 P.M.!" Amber informed Diana that the former had to go get their tickets. Diana wondered why Amber had not already obtained them, but she was not going to question it.

"All right then. See you later, Amber." Diana replied calmly.

"See you later, Diana!" Amber replied. She then turned right and started walking away. Diana shut the door and walked back into the living room, where Ami was still facing the television.

"I couldn't help but to hear that you're going to the movie theater with some friends later today." Ami said while watching the car auction. Diana caught a glimpse of the screen and saw that the current bid on the silver sports car was at 250,000 Jewels. Diana was not impressed with the sports car... she did not have any knowledge of automobiles, so she did not know what was so special about the silver sports car that it merited a bid of 250,000 Jewels.

"Yes, Ami. I am going to the movie theater with Amber and our mutual friend Catherine." Diana calmly informed her faithful android companion of her plans for later in the day. While calling Amber and Catherine "friends" was something of a stretch, they were definitely acquaintances of hers that she was on friendly terms with. Maybe those two could one day become friends to Diana like Ami and Aliarey Casady were.

"That's great, Diana. I'm glad to hear that you're doing something other than working all the time or staying holed up in here." Ami said to the blonde. Diana was amused by Ami's keen interest in the television and did not hold Ami's not looking at her as they spoke against her.

"I have some time before Amber returns, so I will go try to pick out another outfit to wear. If all else fails I will just wear this one." Diana told Ami what her next move was.

"Go for it, Diana." Ami replied. Diana wordlessly walked out of the living room and headed for the stairs that would take her to the second floor. Maybe she could combine enough clothes to make a decent outfit that was a good alternative to what she was wearing now. As much as Diana liked the combination she was wearing, wearing a different outfit to the movie theater might be in order.

Diana's Movie Day Empty Re: Diana's Movie Day

Post by Diana Winchester 20th March 2022, 11:39 pm

    -The second floor, Diana's Room, 11:35 P.M.-

Diana emerged from her closet with nothing to show for her efforts but wasted time. She had made a serious effort to find another outfit to wear other than the one she was already wearing, but in the end it had been a futile endeavor. She could not find anything more comfortable to wear, so she took the easy way out and opted to just wear what she already had. Besides, she seriously doubted that Amber and Catherine were going to dress up in anything really fancy for a trip to the movie theater.

Having made up her mind as to what she was going to do about her outfit, Diana exited her room and made her way back to the first floor. She would just sit on her couch and watch television until Amber and Catherine got here.

-The first floor, the living room, 11:37 P.M.-

Diana entered the living room to find Ami right where she had left the winged android. Ami was still watching the car auction show based in Motor City with the same fascination she had shown earlier. She was so fixated on the television that Diana could have entered the room banging cymbals together and the winged android would not have flinched.

Ami had probably never seen a television before, so it was new to her. Diana wondered what it was like to experience the world with the same wonder Ami showed at watching the television. Then Diana closed her eyes.

There was no point in wasting her time thinking about that.

She was too jaded to see anything with a sense of wonder.

Diana turned away from the television and sat down on the couch to watch the car auction. The new auction was for a cherry red sports car boasting a white stripe running from the top of the car to the hood. According to the person narrating the program the car was a limited-edition model with a specially made engine geared towards producing good acceleration and high speeds.

The bidding started at 750,000 Jewels and once the auction began the bidding frenzy started. Diana turned away from the television because the show was about as exciting as watching paint dry and she decided to go back upstairs and grab her iLac to see if she had any messages from clients who had work for her.

    -The second floor, Diana's Room, 11:39 A.M.-

Diana walked back into her room and walked over to her bed, where her iLac was sitting to the right of her pillow. She scooped the device up with her right hand and began to peruse her Text Messages for anything she might have missed. Roughly a minute later she had come up with nothing. She closed the screen and went to put it in her pocket when she realized that the skirt she was wearing did not have pockets. Unperturbed by that minor inconvenience, Diana walked towards her closet to change into a skirt that did have pockets.

    -Diana's Room, 11:41 P.M.-

Wearing her black skirt that had pockets, Diana emerged from her closet having made a small but vital change to her outfit. Now she could carry her iLac with her without having to wear her blue jean short shorts or a pair of long pants. She could also carry money for concessions, freeing her from the need to depend on Amber or Catherine and freeing her from the possibility of incurring a debt by requesting that they help her purchase something.

Diana was pleased with her outfit and would make no further changes to it. Now she had to find a way to pass the time until Amber and Catherine arrived. The car auction on television was boring, so watching television was not an option that interested her. She did not have a personal library of books, so reading a book was out of the question. Diana would have to find another activity to do until her acquaintances arrived.

    But what could she do?

Diana was not sure what to do. She could take a trip to Capital Coffee to get something to drink and kill a few minutes. She could swing by Capital Crocus Mall to walk around a bit. Or she could lie down on her bed and sleep for a few hours.

Diana thought about her options for a minute or two and decided to go to Capital Coffee. She was feeling a bit restless and wanted to go there for at least a few minutes. Maybe she would run into Jasmine or another acquaintance of hers while she was in the coffee shop.

With that Diana moved to get some money for a cup or two of coffee before she went downstairs to tell Ami where she was going.

Diana's Movie Day Empty Re: Diana's Movie Day

Post by Diana Winchester 1st April 2022, 12:54 am

    -Capital Coffee, 12:35 P.M.-

Diana had gathered some money to put into her pockets, grabbed her housekeys, told Ami where she was going, and had then set out for Capital Coffee, which had only four people ahead of her. Considering how busy the coffee shop normally was, that was a very good thing. Diana calmly got in the back of the line and waited her turn while listening to the overhead music, which was some generic pop with syrupy sweet lyrics about love that seemed to be gaining popularity nowadays.

Diana waited for almost twenty-five minutes to get to the counter, but when she got there it took only two minutes to place her order and pay for it because she always bought the same beverage every time. After placing her order she walked over to the left side of the counter and calmly waited while listening to the music, which had changed from syrupy pop songs about love to syrupy pop songs about friendships that would last forever.

Within six minutes of placing the order Diana received her double espresso in a to-go cup and looked towards the seating area of the coffee shop, which was almost full. Diana pondered her options for a moment before deciding to take the drink on the road with her. She would go back to her place and see if Amber and Catherine would not put in an earlier appearance.

    -Diana's Townhouse, 1:35 P.M.-

Foot traffic had been so thick that it had taken almost an hour for Diana to get home, but she was back home. She shut the door behind her and locked it, then walked into the mini-kitchen and put the empty Capital Coffee cup into the trash. She walked out of the mini-kitchen and saw that Ami was still mesmerized by the television. Diana turned away from Ami and began walking upstairs, where she had left her iLac on her bed.

    -Diana's Bedroom, 1:37 P.M.-

Diana walked over to her bed and picked up her iLac to check it for any missed calls or text messages. She swiped on the screen and found that she had one missed text message. It was from Catherine Corvinus.

"Hey Diana, do you mind if we step up our plans and meet at your place at 2:15 P.M.?" Catherine had inquired in the text message. The message in question had been sent at 1:50 P.M, which was during the time that Diana was heading home from Capital Coffee. Diana had no problem with that request and began to type out a message to that effect.

"I have no problem with that." Diana replied via text message and sent it. Moments later she heard a DING and got a visual confirmation that the message had been sent. Diana set her iLac back on the bed while she went to gather some more money for the trip to the movie theater that had been unexpectedly pushed up.

    -Diana's Living Room, 2:15 P.M.-

Diana had returned to her living room with a bag containing 40,000 Jewels in her left pocket and her iLac in her right pocket. She had decided to leave her keys at home in case she was targeted by the local hoodlums. She could always earn more money, but there was no way in Ishgar that she would let them get the keys to her house. Besides, Ami would let her in when she returned from the movie theater.

Diana had just checked the contents of her pockets again when she heard knocking on the door. Diana walked over to it and opened it to find Amber and Catherine standing outside. Amber was wearing the same outfit she had worn when she first showed up on Diana's doorstep earlier this morning while Catherine wore a partially zipped hooded gray jacket over a blue DJ Dynamo t-shirt and black gym shorts with black tennis shoes.

"Hi Diana!" Amber said, reaching in and embracing Diana before the latter could react. Diana felt her skin crawl until she was released, but she managed to keep her discomfort from showing. Thankfully Catherine opted for waving instead of trying to embrace Diana because the blonde was not sure if she could handle another hug without her discomfort showing on her face.

"Hi Amber." Diana said without any trace of animosity towards the young woman. Trying to play the part of the gracious hostess, Diana decided to ask if the two black-haired young women wanted to enter her home for a few minutes.

"Would you two like to come in?" Diana asked Amber and Catherine.

Diana's Movie Day Empty Re: Diana's Movie Day

Post by Diana Winchester 4th April 2022, 11:22 pm

    -4:00 P.M., Capital Crocus Cinema-

After getting in line around 3:00 P.M. and waiting almost an hour to get tickets to a movie named , Amber, Catherine, and Diana were now standing in the lobby of the movie theater waiting to get concessions before the movie started at 4:30 P.M. However, a lot of other people had the same idea. The trio were standing in the third line leading to the concession stand and there were almost thirty people ahead of them.

"Man, this sucks. It's like half the city's in line ahead of us!" Catherine complained. Amber laughed a little.

"Yeah. We might want to come back to the concession stand later when there aren't so many people." Amber suggested to the trio.

"Waiting is fine with me, Amber." Diana said to Amber. The blonde had no problem waiting until a better time to get a large Cherry Charge soda. Amber looked towards Catherine.

"Hey Cathy, do you mind waiting 'til later to get something?" Amber asked the other dark-haired youth. Catherine shook her head.

"Nah, Amber. I don't feel like waiting. Let's go to our theater instead so we might be able to get some decent seats." Catherine replied and suggested that they get a head start on claiming seats before everyone waiting in line for concessions got the same idea. With that the trio got out of line and made their way towards the theater that their movie was in.

"Say Amber, what theater are we going to anyway?" Catherine asked Amber. Amber held up her ticket and read it.

"Theater 13." She answered. Though she did not show it, Diana did not like hearing that number. She recalled the last time she had tried to watch a movie in Theater 13. On board the gambling boat Gambler's Paradise she had tried to watch Colorado Smith and the Palace Of Malevolence and that attempt had failed due to technical problems with the movie projector.

Maybe this time would turn out different.

"What movie were we going to see?" Catherine asked Amber.

"Montana Smith and the Lost City of Gold." Amber answered. Diana recognized the name "Smith" and asked a question.

"Is this movie connected to the Colorado Smith movies?" Diana asked Amber. Amber nodded.

"Yeah. Montana Smith is Colorado's son. This movie's set roughly thirty years after Colorado Smith and the Quest For The Sacred Chalice." Amber informed Diana of the connection between the movies. She then walked ahead of Catherine and Diana and motioned for them to follow her. The two obliged and walked towards Amber, who then resumed walking to the theater with her friends in tow.

Diana hoped that Montana Smith and the Lost City of Gold would be as good as Colorado Smith and the Seekers Of The Lost Map. She would find out when the movie started playing.
