Descripton:
The people of Pergrande have always been a proud kind, a fact that has been established by their imperial history reaching back more than a millennium. The tragedy that struck this ambitious nation more than 500 years ago, however, was something that forever changed the national consciousness of Pergrande and its people, an untold number of individuals losing their lives in 3 massive catastrophes that reshaped the map of Ishgar forever. War gripped the wounded and stricken nation, more people still losing their lives as brothers turned their blades on brothers, and internal dispute, secession, and hatred dominated the political landscape of the once-mighty Imperium.
There exists a song from the time, since then long forgotten and only detailed in very few isolated records, telling the story of 5 siblings who had been born to a Pergrandean noble family that, at the time, had given rise to many powerful mages, being highly respected in the northernmost nation of Ishgar for this fact prior to the triplet catastrophes. When, however, it was ruled that magic had become the enemy, the family fell from grace and broke apart, the siblings, once close to each other, now facing each other on the field of battle, doomed to take up arms against one another in a terrible, and indeed, heartbreaking scenario.
There exists a record of the eldest brother of those siblings, a man so adept at a magic that utilized transformation that he could shift his flesh at will, assuming any form that would find its way into his mind with an unparalleled understanding and ease. In the end, however, he, like all those other user's of the arcane, was driven from Pergrande, finding refuge in the nation of Desierto, where it is said that he established a new bloodline independent from the original Pergrandian one, and though the melancholy embodied in this song is now lost to time, his heirs live on to this day, one of them inheriting his abilities.
Abilities:
✲ Shapechanger ✲
The mastery of a school of Magic that deals with transformation is no easy feat, the art nowadays referred to as "Take-Over" requiring a strong body and spirit alike, coupled, of course, with immense and indomitable willpower. There exist few who have completely mastered this art, and even fewer who have broken the limit of what is possible. Perhaps through fate, the heir of a certain brother has received the potential to peak in this art much like their ancestor, taking it to heights never seen before, should they be so willing. The user gains access to a new type of magic called "Advanced Take-Over", which may be used in the creation of their magic applications, replacing the option to chose the regular "Take-Over" Magic Type for the user. The "Advanced Take-Over" Magic Type enables the user to use "Take-Over" spells in the magic containing this Magic Type, and any magic containing this magic type may use 5 partial Take-Overs to form a full Take-Over. The benefits for "Advanced Take-Over" type magic can be found below:
- Solitary: +100% to Strength and SP or Spell Damage and MP.
- Primary: +75% to Strength and SP or Spell Damage and MP.
- Auxiliary: +50% to Strength and SP or Spell Damage and MP.
✲ Metamorphosis ✲
The ability to change one's body into that of another, even if only temporary, is a difficult power to comprehend, let alone handle. One must possess a profound awareness and control to maintain the self. Once this ability has been mastered, however, nothing stands in the way of one's own transformation to something greater... the realization that the boundaries of one's own form are merely suggestions. The user gains access to an additional Signature Spell slot in every magic including the "Advanced Take-Over" Magic Type they possess (Ranking up with them to S). Further, the user also gains two additional Advanced Spell slots in every magic including the "Advanced Take-Over" Magic Type they possess (1 ranking with the user up to S+ and the other ranking up to H+). Lastly, the user has the option to sacrifice an H rank spell slot in any magic including the "Advanced Take-Over" Magic Type they possess to gain an additional H+ rank Advanced Spell Slot in that same magic. If any of the spell slots gained via this ability are used to create a Take-Over spell, the spell in question gains an additional ability of the same rank as the spell slot used to create the Take-Over.
✲ Evolution of the Flesh ✲
The might that is embodied by the process of transformation, the act of becoming something greater than the original thing, greater than the sum of its parts, is something dearly familiar to all mages who utilize this particular application of arcana. Only those who truly understand this act to be an intricacy of life, however, can draw strength from it and evolve themselves along with their creations. The user may choose from one of the following two increases:
- 1) 100% base increase to Spell Damage and MP / 50% base increase to Spell Range and Spell Speed.
- 2) 100% base increase to Strength and SP / 50% base increase to Technique Range and Technique Speed.
Increase chosen: 1
✲ Self-Induced Mutation ✲
Changes of the body affect the mind, and changes of the mind affect the body. It is a symbiosis that spells an eternal, self-perpetuating cycle. One can utilize this cycle to understand the exchange between one's thoughts and one's actions, this, of course, presenting a natural conclusion for all those who seek to perfect matters of both mind and body alike. The user is able to add an additional Transcended Take-Over to every magic containing the "Advanced Take-Over" Magic Type. Further, the user may freely utilize any active ability belonging to a "Take-Over" type spell, even if the parent Take-Over spell in question is not currently active. The MP/SP cost of any Take-Over ability cast in such a way must be paid in full in order to do so. The duration of the Take-Over ability in question will begin and tick down as normal. If a Take-Over ability is used in such a way, it will automatically be cancelled once its parent Take-Over spell is activated, restarting its duration and requiring its SP/MP cost to be paid in full to activate it again. All other applicable conditions for activation of the ability in question must be met in order to successfully cast it.
✲ Arcane Reconstruction ✲
Those who have mastered the art of transformation may be referred to as sages, for their knowledge of this mysterious power turns them into formidable individuals that are capable of many-a-trick, indeed, and those who have truly grasped this power are capable of the most magnificent of changes at nothing more than a thought. The user is able to freely change any aspect of their bodies (such as size, hair color, eye color, voice, etc.) to suit their needs. OOC permission must be obtained in order to resemble Player Characters, player-owned NPCs, or Event NPCs. The user further gains access to a special custom spell slot called a "Mastery" Spell. The Mastery Spell may be added to a single one of the user's magics, but must be turned into a Take-Over spell. This spell slot is of advanced rank and ranks with the user up to Z rank, the spell itself and its abilities using specially modified values only applying to the "Mastery" Take-Over spell in question. This spell is always a full Take-Over, regardless of partial Take-Overs being used to invoke it or not. This spell cannot be designated a Transcended Take-Over. All other Take-Over rules apply and the spell gets access to 2 Take-Over abilities, which may be either active or passive. The abilities may contain the same number of effects as a spell of their rank, up to 5 effects at and after X Rank. Every rank after H multiplies the applicable advanced spell / technique base values for damage, durability, healing, range, and speed specified in the Tables and FAQ by x1.5 (e.g. the base damage of an X rank single target spell-based ability would be 315 HP, 210 HP at H rank multiplied by 1.5). This spell may only be used once per thread. Modified values can be found below:
