Magic
Magic Name: Idol Authority (Solitary Benefit)
Magic Type: Faith Magic
Description: Lyr's goal is the abuse the power of a loved and admired performer. In order to accomplish this, they have invested heavily into superficial talents and altered their demeanor to be unrecognizable as nefarious (to most people). Although this magic does rely heavily on charming those around them, not everyone is susceptible to mental warfare. To address this issue, Lyr does not always feign lovability. Rather they also focus on ramping up their damage over time in order to slowly and 'peacefully' remove themselves of any less well fooled thorns in their side.
Idol Authority is the true name of this magic, but typically Lyr does not reveal this. They would instead dub it simply 'Music Magic' or a similar moniker. As a mid range magic, Lyr can struggle with opponents who sit far away as well as ones that get up in their face. Regardless, they have a few tools to protect themselves from those who would want to dive on top of them. As well as they are working on strategies to overcome the gaps between themselves and snipers who are eons away. Idol Authority is constantly being revised and improved. An enormous part of it is Lyr's mentality, which sustains that they must consistently seek to become stronger.
On the surface, Idol Authority seems to be a perfectly benign celestial type of power. With rainbow sparkles and shimmering blue and yellow musical staffs and waves, it is a gorgeous magic to those who are not offended by the color palette. However there is another side to that and her softly green healing blooms. Although it attempts to be subtle, the true power of Idol Authority lies in its manipulative abilities. Rather than its healing and supportive powers on the surface, this magic is highly adaptive and allows Lyr to shapeshift their features and the colors and imagery associated with their magic. In this way Lyr often pretends to be a different mage to disguise their identity.
As a Faith Magic, naturally Idol Authority 'worships' something. In this case, Lyr has an immense bitterness in their heart on account of their sister. In a sense Lyr wishes to be worshiped themselves and truly idolized, loved in a way that will never allow anyone to attempt to abandon them. While they have obvious attachment issues, their magic does not always show it. Instead, it usually attempts to come across as a holy, spiritual power that Lyr gained through praying to her god, Devon. In reality this god whose name they have taken up as an acting surname is simply a figurehead. Neither demonic spirit nor heavenly angel, Devon is just an empty mask for Lyr's own ravenous desire to be the sole focus of a person's world. At any expense and without regard for the cost in their lives, Lyr's idyllic seeming magic demands admiration.
