Personality:
- Who is Dia Izuna?:
Where do we start from? The young woman known as Dia Izuna is a complicated issue. Considering outward appearances, she always seems to be calm and in control... at least, that’s what she wants people to believe, and she does a good job of sending the message across. She is of the notion that more quiet people tend to be more mysterious, and so she doesn’t make a habit of blabbering about regularly in public. With the way she carries herself, coupled with those occasional composed smiles and her exotic voice, she exudes a certain mystique about her...
... and she is also quite the schemer. As most people tend to judge others based on their outward appearance, she uses this major human flaw to manipulate and misdirect people. The first thing people usually notice about her is her dressing, and people come to the conclusion that she is looking for attention. Well, she actually is; she wants people to remember her wherever she goes (unless, of course, she is on a mission that requires her going incognito), regardless of what they think or say about her. She is very conscious of her looks, and always likes to look pretty and smell good. So, expectedly, she is not a fan of dirty places, but as a part of her job requirement, she will abide them as much as is necessary. Many people don’t understand how someone of her sort could be a bounty hunter. She likes it that way, as it would make her the subject of many discussions. After all, to Dia, there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Now, let’s go a little deeper. Dia Izuna’s choice of clothes actually has a strange logic behind it: she believes that humans and other mortals are generally more evil and wicked than good, and so she always wants to plant generally negative notions in their minds, so as to have no scruples exploiting them. For instance, seeing a pretty lady in skimpy clothes will create three general conclusions in the general populace’s minds, 80% of the time: there will be those who will want to exploit her body, there will be those who are indifferent (though they will be also more prone to assume that she is a loose woman), and there are those who would be jealous or disgusted. As no true benign feelings will be generated that way, she finds it easier using them for her own means. No love lost, as they say.
Due to her being extensively physically maltreated as a child, Dia does not really like being touched. In fact, she detests being handled by strangers or people she does not like. Someone placing a hand on her shoulder can quickly end up with the limb wrenched out of joint, if they disregard the singular warning she will give when such happens. Still, she can be very manipulative, and is not above flirting with people to get what she wants, once she realizes they are attracted to her, and she requires them specifically for a purpose. If she makes any sexual advancements at all, they are purely manipulative, and do not suggest an attraction to the target. However, the extent to how many pieces she leaves the person in in the end will be determined by how physical they tried to become. On a side note, with Dia, sex never happens. Somebody always dies before that point can be reached.
Speaking of ethics, this is where it gets a little less straightforward. Most dark mages or evil people tend to be unscrupulous, having very few values to hold on to, and as a result can roll with anything. Dia is definitely not a “good” person. She will not go out of her way to perform indiscriminate actions of evil, but she is not incapable of doing terrible deeds. She always claims that her actions are for the greater good, which would have made her more of an upright character, were some of her modus operandi not downright heinous. Dia has some very strong values, but she would have been a much more virtuous person, if she did not believe that she must come by her desired outcomes at any cost. That said, as a bounty hunter, she does not pick any quarry off the board. She selects her targets, always giving herself a reason for capturing them or taking them out. Perhaps it lets her sleep better at night.
Still on morals, her sense of justice is dark, brutally pragmatic and warped. If she finds a child on an abandoned mountain pass, struggling in the cold, or someone in a very dire strait, she would rather take their life as an act of mercy than let them continue to suffer in this harsh world. She sees killing as necessary, and may do so regardless of her target’s objection. After all, according to her, “we end up in the afterlife we deserve”, so if she were to kill a good person, then they would go to a better place. Isn’t that more advantageous than struggling in this horrid life? Dia admits that her “sob story” is no excuse to be “evil”, but as that is the path she has chosen to walk, she will do so without looking back. She feels that the peculiarities of her life will not enable her to be a “Light Mage”; were she to obey the law and do right by others, her past would quickly catch up with her and destroy her.
To add salt to the injury, Dia is a little bit mentally unhinged. At least, that’s what people think. She doesn’t want to believe so herself, but if compelled to truthfully answer, she will state that she is not sure of her mental sanity. Her moods and proclivities change drastically as she employs her magic, and she claims to hear the “Voice of Chaos” whispering in her head. This voice, is actually caused by the extrasensory powers of her mind revealing to her the emotions and thoughts (in some cases) of others. As a result, she trusts the voice when making judgments about people (will be explained more extensively under her magics). Still, she is in charge enough to avoid being psychotically unpredictable.
Slow to get angry and quite patient, a few things can get Dia to break down nervously. However, if such triggers reveal themselves, you can expect her to respond with violence and vengefulness. Anything that makes her look weak, reminding her of her past can quickly spoil her mood, there is a particular ornament she is very fond of: a little pretty golden orb, held by a black string. It was given to her by the very first person she ever remembered showing her kindness, and so she doesn’t mess with it, ever.
The young lady is quite intelligent. For one, she was blessed with a natural eidetic memory, which lends power to her observational skills. She likes, most of the time, to study a situation, picking out every single detail, before acting or making her judgments. She is avidly interested in the acquisition of knowledge, though she seems to be especially tempted by forbidden magics and lore. Being intrigued by Chaos magic, she wishes to unravel its many deep secrets. She also has a dream of housing a library that can offer information on every topic... or at least almost every topic in life.
Dia has a natural dislike for politicians. Having being harassed by one of their kind, who used insidious means to get at her, while posing to the public as a paragon of virtue, she feels that most of them are the same. She actually likes taking on high profile missions against such people, once the Voice of Chaos assures her that they are more evil than good. Thus, while she has no problems with a powerful dark mage, she has issue with a corrupt official, because they act as if they are respectable. Of course, if a dark mage has a front as a benign person, and that front is famous or powerful, Dia will detest such a person. According to her, “if you have power, then show us who you truly are”.
Power is what separates the strong from the weak, and Dia respects power, in whatever form it comes in: money, knowledge, raw might, you name it; especially when the person wielding it has worked for it. So, yes; she likes money. She also feels fulfilled knowing what she is valued at, since as a child, she was always being told that she was worth dung. She has an inferiority complex. It is hidden, but it is very keen. As such, she dislikes people whose actions deliberately make her look weak, and she is usually very resentful towards them, though she will respect their power. For her, combat is a way to prove herself, and so she revels in it. Depending on the magic she is currently utilizing, she will either favor long ranged attacks, overwhelming the enemy with raw magic power, or get in close and personal and batter them to bloody bits. She tends to show more of her “wilder side” when she is engaged in physical combat for a prolonged period. As a bounty hunter, she takes pride in handling her jobs perfectly, and has found the occupation to be enjoyable.
Concerning relationships with other humans, as said earlier, she tends to be more manipulative of them. Regardless, deep down, at the core of her being, Dia has always wanted to be loved, to be... wanted. This was because of the experiences of her abusive childhood, where people seemed to consider livestock to be of more value than she was. She never forgets a good deed, and always likes to pay back her debts... though the chances are slim, given her line of work. She considers it quite “traumatic” when people of "opposite alignments" are genuinely nice to her, and she claims that she doesn’t know what to do with them. However, she can be a trustworthy ally to anyone she realizes has her best interests at heart. She obeys orders as long as they have a logical reason backing them, as she does not approve of random criminal acts. She is very protective of her followers, and always tries to get them to improve on their strengths, as she believes that the best form of protection is being powerful by yourself.
Likes:
- Power: The one who has power makes the rules. Dia is tired of feeling powerless, and wants to get power in any way she can.
- Ships: Whether they ride on the seas, fly through the air, sail through the stars, or plunge through the underworld, Dia loves them, and for the most part, is able to utilize them efficiently. To her, they are a sign of freedom and mastery of the fates.
- Money: Money is a form of power, and it seems to be able to buy more than half of all sentient beings...
- The Sea: The Sea is unpredictable, powerful and mysterious. Dia feels that she shares similar characteristics with it, and thus it reflects her person... not to mention the fact that it possesses a lot of secrets ripe for the taking, for those who are strong enough.
- Bounty Hunting: Everything about the hunt appeals to her, whether it be a heart-pounding lunge into battle, or the systematic studying of the quarry.
- Knowledge: Knowledge is another form of power. Besides, who knows when it will be useful? She is more attracted to more forbidden and arcane topics.
- Combat: Battle is one of the ways she can prove that she is not weak. And if she loses, then it teaches her where she needs to improve.
Dislikes:
- Smoking: Some people feel it makes them look cool, but Dia thinks it is a dirty habit. Besides, it colors the teeth.
- Politicians: Most of them tout themselves off as the good guys, yet they are rotten within. If they are so decadent, they ought to let those who put their trust in them know where they stand.
- Oppressors: Dia had been oppressed all her life. Tyrants remind her of the days when she was weak and helpless; days she eagerly wishes to forget.
- Physical contact with strangers: This is a very easy way to get a grievous injury from a vengeful Dia. She hates being touched by people out of the blue. Doesn’t really apply to combat much, though.
- Fate: The concept of Fate seems so inexorable, so irresistible, so unavoidable. Dia thinks that is quite unfair. Besides, Fate is a big bully, forcing people down predetermined paths, whether they like it or not.
Motivations:
- To defy Fate: Dia has heard legends where people, through manipulation or might, broke free of their “fate”, and forged new destinies for themselves. This is her dream.
- To be worth something astronomical: For the most part of her life, Dia Izuna was so much the underdog that she didn’t have a name, nor was she ever sold for a better bargain than even small livestock. Now, she wants the whole of Earthland to recognize her name once they hear it, and she intends to be worth a staggering amount of Jewels, be it via the accumulation of wealth, or the bounty on her head.
- To kill those lofty pretenders: Nothing disgusts Dia more than people in positions of power who outwardly spit on evil deeds, but are no less immoral in their hearts. She has decided to find ways of exposing them and ruining them. Yeah, she would have been quite the good girl, had she not upheld the dark creed that the end justifies the means, by whatever means necessary.
Fears:
- Becoming weak: Dia knows what it is like to be downtrodden, oppressed, unwanted, unloved. She has vowed to do her best to never find herself in such a position again. Besides, she has enemies. Enemies who have promised to do horrific things to her. Power will deter them, or better yet, break them.
- Going totally insane: Dia likes to be in charge... and that includes her mind. However, the magic she has a predilection towards has the great risk of irreparable insanity. She is afraid of losing who she is completely. For her, that is like an unacceptable form of death, because the soul remains trapped in the body.
- Being abandoned: For a large part of her life, Dia had been abandoned and alone. Despite her tough exterior, there is still that little girl deep inside who is scared of being forsaken.
- Incarceration: As long as Dia has an escape plan, she remains calm. However, once she realizes that she is truly trapped in a place with no foreseeable hope of escape, her cool exterior will begin to break down, and she will eventually truly panic.

- Descriptions:
- Standing a bit on the tall side for a lady, Dia Izuna possesses features that have been labelled as alluring. From her shapely body to her mesmerizing eyes, she is easily one that demands attention wherever she goes.
Not many people boast of flame colored hair. Izuna’s comes in a rich hue of pumpkin orange, and the more or less straight tresses frame her heart-shaped face and are long enough to descend to her lower back. She does keep the locks at the front of her head shorter than those at the back, expectedly. Her large eyes are green, so bewitchingly green, that they seem to draw a person in if they gaze at them for too long. She has an innocent look about her, due to her button nose, small mouth with plump lips, and a smattering of freckles with dot the porcelain skin on the bridge of her nose and cheeks. Her teeth are perfectly shaped, gracing her face beautifully when she smiles. Her build is athletic, a sign that she is no stranger to physical activity, and is further endowed with an ample bosom, a callipygian backside and wide hips. Her gait is confident, and she moves with an easy, unforced grace. She has a habit of speaking at a relaxed pace (when not agitated), as though she weighs her words every now and then, or she is not in a hurry to get her message across. Her voice has a mild pleasant huskiness to its quality, and she is capable of mimicking other Earthland accents perfectly.
Her outfits depend on her mood, but they are usually form-fitting and/or a bit revealing. She always wears a pendant necklace: a small golden sphere, inscribed with ancient glyphs, which is attached to a simple black cord. Earrings, bracelets and other jewelry are also subject to her vagaries, but she is always seen with one or the other, at most points in time.
