    The Device Empty The Device

    In The Eternal Queue

And you thought there was going to be an iLac pun to start.

Let's preface this with the obvious and most mission-critical introduction: every single person who collected an iLac has to go through the most mind-numbing rigamarole that we could unfortunately think of. There was a necessity to get this device, of course; Rhace had been recommended the iLac as an important part of modern life by the members of the guild, which meant that they all likely had one. Which, fine, it was going to have to happen eventually anyway if he wanted to be able to interact with taking on jobs that the guilds put out. It was just par for the course at this point.

Rhace, however, had a very specific aversion to large crowds and loud spaces, both of which this line to collect an iLac was. For some reason, the company that was making them was just handing them out. For absolutely free. Why anyone would want to do that and operate at a loss was beyond him, but there they went. Some people had bigger plans. What was that plan? Could they find other ways, like sponsorships, to operate with some form of revenue stream? It was all very curious to Rhace as to how this whole system worked. Operating at a net loss did not make fiscal sense.

But we're not here to wax lyrical about a silly idea.

So, after what felt like about five eternities of waiting in line, plus hearing the inane babble of children, young teenage girls and hearing the word 'influencer' more times than anyone honestly cares to count, Rhace found himself at the front of the line and boy was he glad he didn't have to deal with that any more.

The gentleman managing the queue was a little older, certainly kindly, and likely had the patience of a saint. With his hands folded together, Rhace came to the counter and nodded to the older gentleman.

"And what colour can I get for you, young man?" he asked, to which Rhace already had his answer.

    "Blue, please."

You probably get it by now, honestly.

The iLac device came in a small box that was accompanied with a set of instructions, some other bits and pieces to ensure maximum usefulness, and a spiel from the sales guy that had just offered him the device that expanded upon some of its functions and other uses. Calling, applications, you get the picture; highly useful, and an invaluable tool for guilded people. He wasn't a mage, after all, and let's not make that mistake at all. However, again, being in a guild certainly had its benefits.

Rhace took the device, stared at it for a few moments, then pocketed it; it was going to be entirely useful to him in the future.

"Thank you, sir. Enjoy your day."

Not one to be improper, Rhace turned and left; he had what he came for and would find out just how well this thing worked. He had other places to be, first.
