Clover, a town where figures of legendary status retired and now filled the night sky with light as the tiny people went about their free time after the day had passed. Why tiny? Well, Kil found himself flying high above it in the experimental flight suit, his helmet held under his arm as he felt the cool breeze of the night ruffle his white hair, above the bustling engines of his jetpack that kept him high in the air. He continued to look at the town for a few more moments. It was the first job he had taken that didn't directly involve a town and someone inside them, thus why the young mage took a moment to take in the sights, reminiscent of the past where he used to protect such places, it felt good that he had no obligations towards the people in Fiore, it wasn't his 'job' and if it didn't have anything for him he would let them burn.

And yet here he was doing a job for the mayor of the said town. While he did pay well, it wasn't the reason Kil had taken on this job, he would much rather take up something to increase his infamy around Fiore and the rest of the world. It was to investigate an orphanage, the mayor suspects that something is happening there. There was something the ex-operative didn't want to happen and that was for children to be twisted into things that in another life may have never been their goals. Though this may not be the case here and just false assumptions but still Kil wanted to look into this.

He looked to the side and at the mechanical marvel that Ri adorned as she had flown with him from Mount Hakobe. It had been some time since the last time they took on something together and he was glad that she had accepted to come here with him, he enjoyed her company even though they hadn't spent much time together, they did click together quite well, was it due to them both using advanced technology or something else, frankly, he didn't care, he was just glad to have found something like that in the guild.

He shot her an apologetic smile as a sorry for taking to long looking at the town below them, their job location was a little outside of it. He looked to the side towards where the orphanage was located, you could barely see the lights from the little open area where the orphanage was surrounded by trees, he also noticed that a few darker clouds were coming towards them, it was most likely going to rain soon, it would be best if they didn't take so much time checking something that may be a total waste of time.

Looking back at Ri, he nodded up and towards the side to indicate that it was time to touch down, if that was not evident then him putting his helmet back on and flying towards the ground would be. The burning orange light from the engines illuminated the ground before his feet touched it, the engines dying down in the process, he opted to stay in the flight suit as he turned a flashlight that was mounted into his helmet to illuminate the road between the trees for them.

" I think it would be best to land here, rather than directly on top in order to not make them hide anything if something was happening inside there. This road should also take us there. " He said once Ri had landed.

Taking out the Void Saber from his requip storage, he attached it to his hip, it was going to be easier access for him if something was needed and the way it looked, it may not raise that many concerns. " Let's hope we didn't waste our time coming here, or I'll owe you one for pulling you so far from Hakobe. " He joked a bit as he took the road first looking around the eerie forest covered in darkness, almost no moonlight was passing through the trees so the most prominent light source, for now, was his flashlight, that is if Ri didn't pull out something brighter.  " I would really like for this to be just a hoax and false suspicion I really dislike such things when children are involved... "

It was an interesting thing to be accompanying Killua on yet another mission. While he was far younger than she, there was a certain connection they shared; perhaps it was the fact that they were both so far detached from the regular world, where they found themselves ostracised from societal norms. He was a child soldier, and she an arms-dealing scientist; thogether they both formed peculiar extremes of society that were shunned by the masses. As such, they had found kinship in Errings Rising and their general rejection of the world, and then further along in each other. It was a team that worked particularly well, as far as she was concerned. His experience in combat was a rather valuable thing, and her ability to support others with the creation of technological marvels meant that his combat prowess had its own personal force multiplier. As far as she was concerned, if her magical abilities ever improved to a significant degree such that she could hold her own against any particular foe, then they would be an absolutely unstoppable force when deployed together. Alas, she was not there, and could only provide such limited support as the knowledge held within her star-crossed lacrima had been decoded from its ancient and esoteric language.

"Think nothing of wasting my time," she said pointedly. "I consider this an interesting opprtunity to examine your equipment."

And his flight suit was a certainly interesting device to be sure. While it was not the same sort of developmental tree as her own equipment, there was a certain sleekness and craftsmanship to it; hers was almost otherworldly in nature, but much like his own equipment this had its own grounding in the modern understanding of technology. It would not have been out of place in a Pergrandian battle line, if anything, or so her observations would have understood.

However, they had both at that point landed, and Riana's battlesuit had not faded away into nothingness; it was going to be a specific tool to employ on this mission that Riana would have to employ. In fact, this mission was going to call for a considerable amount of knowledge, firepower, and deductive reasoning. And perhaps some sort of wicked understanding of the supernatural. This, however, was well outside her standard wheelhouse; give her something scientific and she would be fine. The supernatural, however, was far beyond her. Killua's concern for the children was notable and understandable, where he was going to be more likely to help those closer to his own age that were as of yet defenceless; they were unable to manage their own lives or properly handle an adult that was manipulating them, if the rumours were in fact true.

Riana had no real compassion for them, if truth was told, for she harbored almost no compassion for anyone - but the task was presented and she would complete it with her partner as instructed.

"What equipment do you foresee us needing?" Riana asked, waving a few fingers through the air as she followed Killua's lead, wisps of orange particles following the movement of her fingers. She could simply create that which he requested, and fully planned on doing so.

" Maybe I can give you some of my equipment when we get back to the guild. You'll examine it as much as you like there. " The white-haired mage offered, as he got back to scanning the surrounding forest with the head-mounted flashlight. " I can't see anything from this darkness, even with the flashlight.. " He remarked, the coming thunder clouds were slowly obscuring the moon and whatever little light was coming through the trees was now even less. The only good thing is that they are closing in on the orphanage and when he looked at it while they were flying it's in a little open space surrounded by the woods.

He pondered a little at Riana's question, if they were in Bosco and this was a facility where there were other soldiers like him, he would have told her to use anything that she had, but now? He was unsure of what to expect. " I doubt that we will need much, best be on standby, what I've learned is that Fiore has some weird things that can prove to be quite a hassle to deal with, so even rumors are something to be wary of.. " Fiore had surprised him quite a bit, and he was enjoying it, especially the freedom that he had.

The god slayer stopped the head-mounted flashlight as they reached the clearing close to the orphanage, the light of said building illuminating some part of the clearing. " Looks like they aren't sleeping so let's invite ourselves in, shall we. " It wasn't much of a suggestion as he strolled towards one of the doors of the building, which when he got a better look, was a medium-sized two-story orphanage it could house a number of children with no issue.

Somewhere along the way, Kil had requipped into a different set of clothing, opting into just more casual wear of a simple white T-shirt and blue shorts. The jetpack was only going to hinder him inside if a fight broke out, but he kept the void saber close.

Grabbing the handle of the door he noticed that the door was unlocked, pushing it down the door opened without any issues or creeks. The place was being maintained, and once inside he noted that they were now in quite a bit lit open space, there were multiple doors, some open some closed, a stairway towards the second floor that overlooked the first one.

Kil wondered which way to take open a door or go towards one of the hallways that led to different parts of the orphanage. He sniffed the air a few times, " This place smells weird and it feels weird, if it was this lit and yet I can't hear anything? " For a place that there were supposedly children, there were awfully quiet.

He focused, using his enhanced hearing to get a sense of direction for them to go to, before his head snapped towards the second floor as he heard footsteps coming to the edge of it. Soon a woman that was no older than thirty was overlooking them, she was dressed quite well, an elegant long white dress with a black corset that extended along her dress, with long black hair that was tied into a ponytail.

" My, my, are you looking for a home little one? " The woman asked with a silky voice.

The young mage felt on edge, through that beauty and silky voice, there was such a weird and strange aura around her, it almost felt sinister. Ha, a dark mage calling someone else's energy sinister.

" We're mages sent to investigate this place, there are some strange rumors surrounding this orphanage, do you mind if we looked around? " He deliberately left the part out that they were dark mages to avoid any unwanted engagements. He also wanted to strangle himself, he sounded like some authority, and yet he didn't want to put any kids in harm's way.

" Oh, I have heard the rumors. Children! Come here and show these people.. " She paused slightly and children strolled into the main room, making weird irregular motions, looking from side to side. Gripping the hilt of the blade he was prepared to unleash it any moment. Those kids looked so mindless, so devoid of normal emotions, they weren't even looking at them.

" -That those rumores were quite true, make sure to not leave any traces of them, my children! " The woman said, not dropping that sweet touch from her voice as she left them, going somewhere further into the orphanage. In front of the two mages were about 6-7 kids that all made irregular motions. Suddenly one of the kids screeched as they rushed forward towards the two dark mages..

The prospect of having Kil's permission to examine and upgrade his equipment was the closest thing to actual happiness expressed that Riana had in a long time. It did in fact produce some serotonin in her brain, which was a  crazy thing to be able to actually say out loud - as of yet, very, very little had provided such enjoyment in her life. It made her sound rather depressed, and that was sort of true in its own way. However, if that was the case, Ri was not about to complain. "Then we shall make your equipment as cutting-edge as possible," Ri promised. Even if she had to install the M-drive onto his jetpack and see if she could make him fly that way without taking up additional space, she would. After all, he was strong. Strong enough, and worthy enough, to deserve her attention. Never mind the fact that his blade was most curious to her, as it resembled her own technology in its own way. She made a mental note to double check the origin of that particular piece of equipment later on.

As they approached their particular target location, Riana elected not to dissipate her combat suit; it wasn't particularly bulky beyond the wings and she still had a good range of motion with it. In the worst case, she could arm herself with short-ranged weaponry and pick apart their targets that way. Perhaps she'd need to invest in melee weaponry, or better yet a short-range scattering blast weapon akin to an energy shotgun in order to clear the hallways of their target. After all, if Killua was to take the lead at short range, she would provide him with every ounce of support that she could possibly muster and blow apart his enemies.

Switching her HUD and camera suite over to low light and thermal imaging to provide her an almost-perfect facsimile of her normal vision, she made note of his points and frowned lightly at the idea that this place was home to children - this was a cottage placed in the middle of nowhere in what could only be described as a spooky little villa. This was far from an ideal place to rear young, and even the uncaring scientist could prove that particular point empirically and she had zero interest in the idea of children to begin with. Silent and imposing, the building stood as a testament to the oddity that was the rumour mill surrounding this place. The white-haired young mage was absolutely correct in every assessment of this place. "This is no ordinary orphanage," Riana agreed, before she made the infinitely wise decision to raise her hand up and deploy the sensor drone. A moment later, a metre wide crimson disc flickered to life as it phased into existence, space literally folding nearby Riana's head as the metallic being appeared. Its underside carried  a bulbous growth that would allow Riana to use it as a powerful sensory amplifier; it could track the movement of every single person inside that building at a considerable distance. It trilled a number of beeps before it floated away, taking station-keeping above the building as its underside began to rotate slowly to produce a slow radar ping every few moments. Targets were tracked and updated.

He was right, though. This place was lit up like a Christmas tree and there wasn't a single noise. That was not normal.

The operative's approach was covered as Riana summoned her magitech rifle, crimson particles flickering in and out of existence as the energy blaster appeared in her hands. She really needed to get him one of these. Perhaps... actually, she could do precisely that if she wished, and that would be a note for later. After all, the hand plug technology could simply be replicated in a small-scale gauntlet- no. Not now. There was a mission, and giving Killua shiny new toys took second priority to the execution of objectives.

He entered the building, and moments later so did she. The wing binders folded slightly inwards so that they were straight behind, tucked ever so slightly such that they did not hamper her ability to navigate simple doorways. The woman spoke to Killua first, but her eyes widened at the sight of the metallic monster that passed through the portal moments after him - her next response, however, was precisely what they were expecting to see. The children here were slowly becoming corrupted and converted into weapons. One of them was already beginning to rush forward and find purchase in the charge against Riana and Killua.

Here, in this moment, there proved to be the critical difference between the way Kil and Ri operated. He was not a heartless monster; a child soldier raised in the fiery pits of hellish combat, one who still managed to maintain his composure and compassion for those like him, Kil was a consummate professional warrior in ways that Riana could never even hope to begin to comprehend. She, on the other hand, was dispassionate to the point of being heartless and cruel by all outward appearance. In truth, she simply didn't care. Whether her enemy was a child, an adult, a household cat or a city-razing dragon, they were simply the enemy - and enemies existed to be defeated. Two kids rushing her ally meant only one thing.

From just behind Killua, there was the sound of the particle thruster whirring to life and pushing Riana to the side, the crimson blanket flooding the air behind her as she find an angle to assault Kil's incoming target. Aided by the computerised systems of her battlesuit and hundreds of hours of practise within her own systems, the scientist took aim and fired a pair of corsucating blasts, a double-tap in the most typical military fashion; the empowered flare of brilliance pierced the skies as the red-orange flare shot out, hitting the kid almost square on in the stomach. It wouldn't be enough to kill him, no. Perhaps enough to put him down if his constitution was raised any by whatever wicked magicks this witch practised. Whatever it was, however, Riana had no time or tolerance for such games.

Eyes burning the devil's red locked on to the gaze of the woman that had committed her minions to this charge, and she would find that there was a mechanical monstrosity as heartless as she to contend with here today.

Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana) Empty Re: Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana)

Post by Killua 4th March 2022, 6:05 pm

Solemn blue eyes looked past the two kids that were currently charging towards them, he examined the other three that weren't even looking at them, instead, doing irregular movements, one was even scratching at itself. It was a sad sight for the child soldier, it was clear that something had been done to these kids and what saddened Killua was that whatever sanity they had was gone. At least he and the rest like him were able to retain their sanity and this ultimately led to the rebellion and them freeing themselves, well most of them at least. He hasn't had contact with any people he knew to confirm this but he sincerely hoped that no one returned to that hell hole.

The young mage felt the mechanical being behind him charge up and didn't even flinch when she moved to the side and fired blasts of energy that collided with one of the children straight in the chest. The child was now laying down on his back as smoke rose from his chest, the other child not even caring for what had happened next to him, no, he didn't even look back for one moment, continuing his charge towards Killua. Something that saddened the mage even more.

Gripping the void blade tighter, the blade emitted a small hum as it materialized to life. Killua wasted no time as he brought the blade above him and swung it down in an arc. Sending out a blade of dark energy in the shape of a crescent at the child that was still rushing forward. It almost made no effort to dodge, the attack engulfed the child and pushed him back, void energy now stuck to him as patches of dark purple were present on his body like a plague.

It wasn't long before the child that Ri had brought down, stood up as well and let out an ear-piercing scream. The kid that Kil had attacked regained his composure as well. Not letting them take the charge this time, the god slayer decided to test out the abilities of the void blade further. Taking up a stance with the blade slightly raised, void energy started to surround the wielder. Within a moment Kil disappeared in a burst of void energy and appeared in front of the one that he had attacked, leaving no time for him to react he slashed horizontally across his chest, leaving a few nasty burst marks and burning the clothing around where he cut. It stood for a few seconds before it fell to the ground, either dead or unconscious. While he wasn't a cold-hearted killer when it came to kids, there was a chance that they would never return to normal.

What he didn't expect was for the other 4 children that were dormant to scream and start to rush towards him. It seems like the distance had triggered them to engage. This time however the group had closed in the distance quite fast and Kil was put on the defensive, for the first time, he felt how strong they were as he blocked one of them that tried to claw his face with their elongated nails. His palm pressed against the energy blade down as he began to push the void blade close to Kil's own face.

Kil pushed the blade to the side, letting his weight carry the momentum, spinning to deliver a powerful kick into one of the maddened children's abdomen sending him sliding. Using this opportunity, Kil jumped back and landed close to Ri. " They are quite tough so don't let your guard down. Use anything you want to put them down. " He didn't care if Ri wasn't as careful as him to let them live, he wasn't going to lecture her on how she decided to do things and what was correct. They were dark mages, of course, killing was part of the things they did, however would attempt to at least spare as many as he could, should his life or hers be in danger, he wouldn't care if they made it out alive.

" Here they come.. " Raising his sword in front of him, Kil prepared for their assault as the remaining five came towards them altogether. Dark lightning started to build up around him, with a quick spin and dragging his foot on the floor, he released a wave of electricity towards them. Two of them took the brunt of his attack, getting paralyzed in the process as they fell down. Easy picking for Ri to finish them off if she had a ranged attack. In the meantime, Kil prepared for the rest of the group that was still coming hot towards them.

To watch these kids perambulate around with little care for direction, choice or ability to process higher cognitive motor functions was rather simultaneously terrifying, concerning and outright impressive. Whatever magicks were at play here thanks to the obvious influence of their malefic headmistress were rather powerful controlling and shackling abilities whose pure strength could truthfully not be understated. There was a... boldness, a psychosis, a true wickedness to all of these that proved that whatever she had in the back of her perverted mind was designed to keep her wards under her bondage for an extended period of time. This was no orphanage. This was a child slave production factory, one that would inevitably be shut down at the hands of the mages from Errings Rising. While Riana herself had no such qualms about someone operating such a facility, Killua did, and it was for his sake that she would act with decisive destructiveness - she would tear down this entire building if absolutely required by the young warrior. These kids living here at this point were just mindless zombies, with barely a thought of their own - it was rather a shame to see potential wasted. Even then, she saw the underlying principle here and the fact that there was an experiment to be had with mind and thought control - it was an interesting concepr for soldiers who needed to be manipulated and taught into complete and utter subservice. This, however, was not an experiment to be tested upon children. For the right price she might do it - but that price would be literally astronomical. One, her companion would not let her hear the end of it, and two, children were not supposed to fight wars.

It was rather stark how the two of them differed, truthfully. Killua was a young man with principles - few of them, certainly, but he held them deeply seated, close to his heart, and would never yield on them. That much impressed her, for it would have been so easy for the young man to surrender to his base passions, put himself and his bank account first, and be wealthy as all hell while his wide array of skills made him a very worthy mercenary for hire. Riana, on the other hand, held a single principle - science was truth and light - and would compromise all other moral choices in order to put that first. Was the experiement good enough, and the price good enough to match? Then she would do it, pure and ismple. She could in many cases be tempted with a very enticing concept all on its own, and for those that were not simply enticing she would do it for a small mountain of jewels. It was the way things were. Their being worlds apart, however, did not upset the balance of their teamwork. It had already proven strong enough before, and would likely continue to do so into the future.

Yet, the way he fought - adapting to the weapon in his hand - proved that he was by far the superior combatant. She wasn't a fighter to begin with, in all truth; Riana was someone who relied on the technology in her hands to do most of the work for her, and she was sufficiently impressed watching him move quickly, engage a target, and disengage moments later in order to ensure that he was not hurt by whatever brainless motions these zombie children were taking. And, with his blessing, she could switch to whatever weapon she chose in order to engage the enemy - but that was a serious tactical consideration to bring up. The hyper cannon was out, obviously; obliterating a hallway or two would bring the entire building down. The missiles, similarly, would be a poor choice, with parts of the hallway likely structural and likely to become collateral damage. The railgun was a little slow-firing for the fast-paced and frenetic combat they were engaging in.

    Rifle it was, then.

The blanket of magitech particles flooded from her back as Riana brought herself off the ground, deciding that aerial combat outside of the reach of these children would be an ideal way for her to handle this. Additionally, she could still provide support to her ally without bringing more giant mechanical monsters into the hallways here. A second drone in addition to the one floating outside manifested itself, folding into realspace from the quantum storage dimension that Riana employed; this red-tinged rotund device was a shielding drone, one designed to assist in the protection of allies. Both Ri and Kil could benefit from not only its protective shielding, flickering a translucent blue, but also the movement speed that it provided. Alacrity was never a poor choice. However, to punctuate the point, Riana breathed out and allowed her magitech particles to fill the battlesuit, taking it to overdrive; glowing that hellish orange red, the energy involved in the operation of the suit brought forth an unholy power, one that were it to be employed in the destruction of the building would inevitably bring it down in mere moments. Such being the case, the power she wielded was brought to bear on the two targets that Kil had marked for destruction - and two beams of that same coruscating energy lanced forth, piercing the prone children and bringing their deaths as swiftly as Riana could manage. Between Kil's blade and her blaster, they stood no chance of survival. It was unfortunate. Wasted potential.

Three more of them stumbled forward, ready to engage Killua; they were mindless, shambling creatures at the end of a string maintained by the matron - who, as it turned out, was nowhere to be seen at this point. Even the sensor drone above was not registering her location, which was a thing that concerned the technological adept.

"Kil, she's gone," she commented quickly. "She's hiding from me somehow. We need to find her and end her."

Cold fury was all that awaited the dark overlord of this forsaken facility.

Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana) Empty Re: Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana)

Post by Killua 8th March 2022, 8:05 pm

The soldier watched as the magitech mech flew above the children, powering up just as fast as it had risen to the air. It was truly a scientific marvel to look at and at the same time menacing for anyone that would have a staredown with it. The suit soon glowing in a hellish orange as she was about to release her technique. She would have had an amazing career in Bosco, they valued technological advancements and it was one of their main strengths, yet if she was there they would now be standing as enemies rather than allies.

Bearing down on her targets that stood in their way, the beams had quickly killed off two abominations. Yes, abominations, there was nothing else Kil would call these things that protected their so-called caretaker. The usually composed god slayer was getting angrier by the minute, the thought that even in this country there were people that would do horrible things to anything that would give them power in any way. Even if he had to kill these poor creatures, Kil was now determined, determined to avenge them by beheading their 'caretaker' and giving peace to their souls. A wicked smile crept onto his face as the thunder boomed even louder, a storm was coming, a storm that would benefit him.

Kil was brought out of his musings when Riana called out to him. She was unable to locate the woman they saw on the second floor, and this was somewhat concerning to the young mage. "The house is probably laced with her magic, and it's hiding her presence." He commented, the young mage's mind racing on how to deal with the current situation. The orphanage wasn't big but there were many rooms from what he could see on the first floor. While they had a way to get to the second floor, both mages possessing the ability of flight, it was no guarantee that they would find her there, there was no way of asking the children as well..

Dark lightning began to dance around the god slayer's mouth when the remaining three deranged children charged him, seeing as they had no way of reaching the flying mech. The lightning slayer concentrated, making the lightning course through him and his magicuels. Soon an his signature dark lightning aura was around him as he finished powering up. He had no time to play the headmistress of the orphanage's games. Kil opened his mouth to show that the black lightning from before was now fully concentrated and with a single bellow, he released the signature technique of most slayers. A dark destructive lightning blast engulfed the charging children. Once the lightning died down, the three bodies of the children lay on the floor as smoke rose from them, black lightning sparkling from time to time. Kil made no attempt to check their condition, if the woman's magic was that strong they may have survived that, he didn't know if that was better and if they would ever return to normal.

Kil looked to the second floor again like he was searching for something. The moment he had released his attack he saw something strange, something that he now questioned himself if it was there, and what put him off was the immense magical energy that he felt from its direction. Was it due to them that Ri can't pinpoint the mistress's location? Or is he beginning to imagine things, no, if there was something he trusted it was his eyes, they were trained every day since he was abducted into that hellish training program.

With no enemies left, the white-haired boy ran up the stairs to the second floor and stood from the place where the woman had addressed them. Turning towards his partner. "I don't know if you felt it, but there was something else here with us, watching, I can't really explain it but it just felt 'vile', and it wasn't like that woman's presence." Kil said in a serious tone. Whatever it was, he wanted to make sure that Ri was going to be careful and keep an eye out for herself and him, as he would do for her. Their relationship was strange and yet it looked like both of them liked the presence of the other, they were different, yet they had found some kind of connection that was developing further and further the more they interacted with each other. In all honesty, he was glad that he had found such a person in the guild so quickly, even if she wasn't the biggest social butterfly, he had decided that he would spend more time with her, terrorize her in her lab while she tried to accomplish another scientific feat.

"Keep trying to pinpoint her, if you find anything take the lead, and let's find that wicked bitch." He said, inspecting the second floor more clearly, there were different rooms but from the position she was in, the only option was the door that was right next to him. Carefully opening the door to avoid any unwanted traps, he noted that it led to a corridor that had a few rooms on each side and at the end of it, it split into two separate ones on the left and right.

Again the orphanage was quiet, Kil lightly ran along the corridor, listening for any sounds that may direct them towards their target. When he went to pass by the first room on the right, the wooden door exploded in splinters and one more of those deranged children emerged, grappling and pushing him into the wall. Kil put his guard up to defend with his free arm that was not wielding the energy weapon, however to his surprise the child opened its mouth and chomped down on the pinned mage's arm. Kil grit his teeth from the pain that coursed through him, his lightning aura not bothering the child that was trying to eat his arm. The kid bit down further, making him recoil in pain further as he threw his head back against the wall.

Bringing the void blade up with his free arm, the butt of the weapon brought down on the child's head hard in an attempt to make him release him. The child not even bulging as he continued to attempt to tear a portion of Kil's arm off with its teeth. The young mage continued to hit the abomination as on the third hit it finally let out, Kil pushing him quickly with a strong right kick to throw him to the ground.

Looking at his arm he noticed the big bite mark that was oozing out his blood. While it hurt like hell, it wasn't something to be instantly afraid of. He could leave it for the moment and deal with the current situation.

The child was already on its feet as it screeched at him. A moment later three more kids burst out from the other doors, breaking them completely. "Great, there's more of them.." Kil said, obviously irritated. They were like ghouls, nothing more than a shambling mess that had no sanity. Bringing up the void blade he prepared for another showdown.

Even as Kil put down the reamining three children with tainted lightning, a combat trick that she had witnessed him using once previously, she could not help but be impressed. Their powers were not too dissimilar in their slayer origins, though she never truly used them for their elemental purpose. That strength that he showed and the fact that he could use that lightning the way he did was sufficient sign that his strength was immense. She respected that, too. However, when even the young soldier was concerned for a target that had been left unknown and unsaid, something so powerful that a momentary flash of its power was enough to cause them both to look up in concern for whatever it was, she knew that this particular foe was going to be an issue beyond anything that they had so far encountered. Zombie children were one thing, of course; one could put down hordes of corrupt children for days and barely bat an eyelid. An eldritch abomination, on the other hand, was going to prove a different kind of problematic for the two of them to deal with. However, they were going to have to face and conquer whatever foe this was.

Regardless, they pressed on to the second floor. Despite him asking, she was quite content to stay in the rear and employ her tricks from where she was standing. After all, she was for the most part a ranged combatant. Very few of her abilities allowed her to fight in melee combat, so she avoided it wherever possible; not getting her hands dirty was generally the preferred way for her to fight. "I'm saving my best tricks for last, believe me," Ri commented in reply. She would handle this without using the strongest weapons in her arsenal just yet, which was something that very few had seen - in fact, she could guarantee that Kil had yet to see this particular combat trick. She had created some monstrous weapons that, in the wrong hands, would be akin to giving countries nuclear technology - this was, fortunately, on a much smaller scale.

These children that had been seduced and twisted into abominations by whatever wickedness was going on here were inevitably no longer mere normal children. That assumption had been proven correct as Kil found himself on the receiving end of one of these children, sinking their fangs into his skin; they were clearly no longer human, and were possessed with little more than monstrous, animalistic impulses. Therefore, they were no longer human, and were simply creatures to be destroyed. They did not deserve compassion or care from her. She did not need to. And, frankly, her patience for dealing with these infected humans was beginning to run thin when she could not experiment on them for her own entertainment.

Therefore, the game would change on her terms.

"To hell with this. Kil - clear, now!"

The scientist gave him a moment to realise precisely what she had meant by this as she needed him to move compeltely out of the way for this to work, for her choice of weaponry was suddenly changing - from her hands, the beam rifle disspated into a cloud of crimson particles, only for them to begin reforming into a weapon that was clearly the size of her entire body and with sufficient weight to prove its massive bulk, and understandbly the single most powerful weapon in her arsenal; black clad and crimson trimmed like the rest of her weapons and armour, bristling with sensors and a stubby yet thick barrel that belied the nature of the weapon, the magitech hyper-cannon was designed for a single purpose that Riana relished with every fibre of her being: the complete and total annihilation of her enemies in such a way that left absolutely nothing standing. However, even when her battlesuit was overcharged, she could have brought more power to bear; so she did. From behind her, a new drone made its appearance; this one slung a missile pod underneath its domed body, and the pure magical power that was now charged within her battlesuit just by dint of its presence was likely as strong as it was going to become. It did not intend on firing its missiles into the inevitable barrage of power that was about to be unleashed. It did not need to. It was simply here to loan its power to its master, which it would inevitably do well.

She smiled, behind the ebon helm that masqued her face; this was the first time the magitech hyper-cannon had been fired at an actual target that she was seeking to erase from the face of the planet.

Erase them she would. So much for keeping this hidden, however.

Her finger depressed the weapon's trigger, caressing it, she could feel the sudden thrum of energy building in the weapon's bowels as it provided a momentary charge to its titanic destructive power. She prepared for the next moment that would come by bending her knees and bracing herself for the sheer power that this weapon would exude, breathing out in readiness for the shock to her system. The barrel crackled with orange-red energy for just a moment as the energy capacitors within reached their maximum potential - and in the next second, a wide beam of destruction almost large enough to consume the entire hallway erupted in a fiery cacophony of annihilation, so powerful that the Fury itself slid back to compensate for the exegesis of inertia. This blast represented the best in her arsenal and, with its swathe of pure hatred, would consume whatever enemy ended up unfortunate enough to stand in her way. This was the destructive power of the sciences that she employed and there was not a single regret in doing so. Wood splintered, support beams creaked and the far end of the hallway blew out as the wall gave way to the beam, which pierced through the side of the orphanage and past it into the forest; whatever destruction happened out there was simply not Riana's care. The children, vaporised in the blast, were simply no more. Not a single trace of their existence remained - not a single mark on the floor that had caved, a concave blast

Regardless of the outcome, she had employed only her second greatest destructive power in that moment. There was yet one more that she could employ, but this was no longer the time to do so. She would need to recuperate her ability to do so. Expending so much of her magic power would leave her a little drained until she took the time to recover; in fact, the drones that she had summoned vanished away into the aether as they folded themselves back into the quantum dimension from which she had conjured them originally. She would need to maintain her energy reserves to ensure that the battlesuit protecting her from incoming foes was not compromised. So too did the gigantic cannon whose heft she bore suddenly dissipate into nothingness, its services no longer required for she had already used them sufficiently. Perhaps she'd shown part of her hand a little too early in this combat scenario, but that was a problem for future Riana.

She breathed out. That was an absolute rush, no matter how much of a mistake it might have been.

"Kil, report. You okay?" she asked suddenly as all the rest of the noise died away. It was, unbeknownst to anyone, the most care and compassion she had showed for any human being in years. She knew he'd been hurt, but she was not a healer by trade; she sacrificed healing in order to erase targets from existence. It was a good trade when she had no real need for others, though now perhaps that was proving its own little issue.

Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana) Empty Re: Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana)

Post by Killua 13th March 2022, 7:47 pm

Blue eyes looked between each of the 4 children that now shambled towards him. Prepared for the moment they would dash. From their previous clash, he knew that they were tough and were relatively fast. This time they didn't have the distance or Ri was able to hover high out of reach and pick them off one by one. He hadn't looked behind him so he didn't know if she had entered behind him or was still hovering above the first floor trying to pinpoint the headmistress. He didn't have to think about that now.

The children in front of him shambled and grunted as if they were ghouls. Killua brought the void blade up, gripping it with both hands, the hilt now stained in his own blood due to the bite mark wound that he received courtesy of one of the children. He didn't have to worry about it now, first, the enemies in front of him had to be disposed of before he could treat them. Kil steeled himself, getting ready for his next engagement with the abominations as they screamed and charged forward.

'Run' 'Phase' 'Cover' 'Phase' 'Phase' 'Phase' Distorted yet familiar voices rang in his head like alarms, warning him of impending danger. The same voices that had saved him so many times on his missions and warned him of any imminent danger. He had stopped questioning where they had come from a long time ago, and if he had to guess that they had connected to him once he had 'Phased' for the first time.

But he had only a moment to realize what was happening as he suddenly heard Ri scream out to him from behind, the amount of magical energy rising fast behind him. Once he looked behind he could only see the mech holding what looked like to be a massive weapon. It was only a few moments that he got to look at it, as his partner had pulled the trigger, releasing a wide beam that destroyed anything in its path.

Darkish blue particles appeared all around Killua's body as the blast closed in on him. Seeing as he had no way out of this without getting singed, he pulled one of his own trump cards and Kil disappeared from the place he was previously standing.

Kil found himself in the familiar to him, white and black mixed reality world. The blast that Riana had unleashed had completely passed through him and he turned around to see how it evaporated anything in its way, including the children that were in the hallway. It was hard to see if they were being completely obliterated from the color that this world gave. In the meantime he looked to the side, looking at different versions of himself and how they fared in the current moment that he entered this reality, some were caught in the blast, some dodged it. It was strange to see a different version of himself in some instances in the past he had even seen his death, and it had haunted him for some time.

Kil looked back towards Riana after the blast died down, it was time to get out of this world, it looked like she was searching for him, it was hard to tell, he couldn't hear anything from that real-world once he was here. They usually used special signals for when to get out and ambush at the perfect moments, but there was no way Ri would know this, nobody in the guild knew of this ability, though in part it was because he recently acquired them back.

Back in the real world, small dark blue particles formed in the shape of a circle, and soon Killua jumped out of the mixed reality that he was in, completely unharmed of the magical cannon and Kil was finally able to fully see the damage that it had made. The end of the corridor was completely blown and could see the now illuminated rain that was heavily pouring. Looks like the clouds had finally reached them, good. The other part of the hallway didn't fair up well either, Kil finding himself standing on one of the few spots left in semi-good condition to support him without braking completely.

Giving out a long whistle, Killua turned towards Riana. "You really had enough of them, didn't you. Remind me not to mess with you all that much." Before he could joke anymore and comment on the destructive capabilities she had, his head snapped towards the end of the blown hallway. There at the end of the corridor, the witch stood in the same clothing that they saw her previously. Her eyes were shadowed by her long hair, head hung down slightly.

Kil steeled himself as the witch rose her head, glowing purple eyes looking towards the two mages of Errings Rising. A manic expression adorned her features.

"How dare you do this to my little children, I'll enjoy breaking that machine of yours." She said before she looked and rose a finger at Killua. "And you, I'll be making you one of my children."

At this point, Kil's blood was boiling, an image of a larger man with short brown hair stood next to her like he was looking right at him with a creepy smile. Tainted lightning exploded around the young god slayer, void blade activating at his side. Wasting no time he moved, the floor where he stood bending and breaking from the force exerted by the young dark mage.

Within moments he appeared before the headmistress, both hands on the void blade, the blade itself exerting its own void aura as Kil pumped more and more magic power into the energy blade. Swinging down, Kil attempted to deliver a full force overhead slash.

Suprised-filled eyes looked at the young mage, it was evident that she didn't expect him to move so quickly. However, as his own slash came closer and closer a gateway appeared on the side, and from it, a skeletal arm came out of it and in front of the witch, protecting her from the initial hit of the attack.

The force of the attack pushed the skeletal hand against its owner with great force, breaking it in the process and sending its summoner through the hole that Riana had made with her devastating cannon and into the heavy rain that was pouring outside the orphanage.

Kil stood in the hole, cold blue stared into blood-crazed purple ones, the witch getting up from the little hole that she had in the mud. "I changed my mind, I'll take you apart part by part, until nothing is left of you." The witch hissed out.

The thunder god slayer jumped down, splashing water everywhere upon landing, with lightning flying everything as it moved between the water. "When I'm done with you, no one is going to even recognize your corpse." The slayer coldly stated. The void blade that was in his hand disappeared, in its place his Scorpion SMG appeared, as he loaded in a magazine of mixed ammunition in it.

Both of them stood still, a silent staredown in the rain, each waiting for the other to move first. Decided that he wouldn't let her get the jump on him, Kil was the first to move, employing his speed, he dashed to the side, lightning jumped between the pools of water made from the rain with each step. Kil fired a few rounds from his SMG as another skeletal hand appeared to block them, this time standing strong, evident that the basic rounds of the gun would need to be sustained if he wanted to destroy it.

As he continued to move he noticed multiple small gateways opening up, with skeletal arms sprouting in an attempt to grapple him, she was beginning to predict where he would appear. So Kil changed his movement pattern as he began to circle her. Firing a few rounds from his weapon ever so often that were being blocked by a skeletal arm that rotated around her.

Flipping a switch on his gun, Killua fired at her, this time a single bullet that's blue color was slightly illuminated in the light of the orphanage. The witch's eyes widened slightly as the singular hole made it through the skeletal hand that was protecting her, hitting her in her right shoulder. Her purple eyes glowed while she screeched in pain from the bullet that lodged itself in her skin.

'Danger. Front. Duck, slide, duck' Kil looked forward as the voices in his head appeared again, before him a gateway had appeared and from it, a strange apparition stepped out of it and attempted to behead the young mage with its dark-ghostly arm. Quickly breaking his movement into a slide Kil was able to dodge the attack, however, due to the mud formed from the rain he soon found himself rolling on the ground until he hit the trunk of a tree. Pushing himself off the ground with a grunt of pain, mud falling from him. This was going to be a lot tougher than he expected.

    Spooky Scary Oprhanage

It was not for a lack of trying that Riana could not detect precisely where her companion had gone. In the first instant, he was present on her sensory display, then in the next he was not. Simple logic followed such that he had teleported or used some other method of advanced rapid travel to clear himself away form the blast zone of the gigantic cannon blast that followed a moment later, as Riana was satisfied that Kil was not going to be in the blast zone of the weapon's destructive breaching of the building without a single trickle of remorse for the annihilating wave. Riana would not be satisfied with any lesser result, and rightly so; she had created a weapon of destruction and any result less than success would be considered an abject failure on the scientist's part.

Once the dust began to settle, Kil made his reappearance into realspace before her once again, and delivered his first snarky comment in reply - the standard response to that which had just happened. Riana dared not to lift her helmet in reply, but the sarcasm in her voice could not be overstated. [color=darkviolet]"Look, some people just really need to be murdered," Ri commented dryly, the cannon fizzling away into a cloud of magiparticles. Her eyes drifted out towards the carnage that she had wrought, the smoke not yet clearing; thick, black and toxic, the stench of singed timber and drywall filling the air. "Besides, it is fact that you have power far beyond mine. I would be more concerned with the precision ability you have with which you deploy your abilities-"

However, Riana was so rudely interrupted by the re-emergence of the witch, who deigned in the next moment to threaten both the scientist and the child warrior with such arrogantly sweeping statements.

"Cute," Riana replied, calling her magitech rifle back to her hands, but this time also conjuring the pair of three-tube missile launchers to the side of her legs. These weapons were not handheld, but attached instead to the plating on the outside of her shins; not all of the Fury's conjured weapons were simply pull trigger and shoot, after all. However, this was not relevant, for the scientist's cold gaze now locked squarely on the woman. "You think you can break me. That's adorable." Pause. "I'm going to enjoy watching my friend tear your trachea from your throat with his bare hands."

In the next instant the fight was on. Kil wasted no time and Riana watched on with some awe in the way he moved through the space she had created like it was absolutely nothing, engaging his enemy in the following moment as she conjured hands from an otherworldly tear in spacetime to defend herself and failing to do so. Kil overpowered her, effortlessly, as he knocked her outside of the building and out into the rain that had begun since they had made first entrance into the building. It was rather poignant, really, for Riana was rather enjoying the spectacle that was unfolding. She floated over towards the edge of the building and wrapped a metallic hand around a support beam to steady herself, watching the fight develop from below; given that Killua was such a well-developed close-quarters fighter, it was unwise to engage a target in ranged combat when someone was trying to stab them. She did not wish to run the risk of hitting her ally, which as far as she was concerned was a real and valid reason not to take shots yet.

A powerful pulse of magical energy echoed suddenly from behind her, followed by a three-toned trilling shriek of a noise; it was most certainly something not from this planet as the sheer sound the yelling made was enough to unbalance Riana. The onrushing wave of nausea that inflicted her and her sense of balance forced the scientist to clutch her head, or at least she tried through the suit. This was not a situation that she'd expected to be in; she had considered the witch before them to be the only threat, but the fact remained that they did in fact detect a second presence in the house. This had to be it, without any shadow of a doubt. There was not one enemy here - there were two, and this second one was equally as powerful as the witch that they sought to exterminate. What a shame her power simply was not enough to just match Killua - she had to use her most destructive weapon just to keep up with him. It was an absolutely sad state of affairs, as far as she was concerned. What a shame, and a waste, of both her time and her energy - her damage output could not hope to match his. Yet.

A deep breath out. She'd have to face this beast hidden away in the house alone, while he was busy fighting the wicked monster below.

She floated past, the thrust nozzle on her back outputting energy as Riana made her way, checking each and every room as she fine-tuned her sensors to find whatever this was - until the wall suddenly burst apart in a gigantic cascading shower of plaster and wood to her right, breaking through the frame and coming at her with a trio of tentacles. The three deep indigo extensions of an unknown body lashed out and gripped the Ebon Fury as tightly as it could, binding both legs, her arms and her chest as they wrapped around her, dripping with some unknown excrement with a fetid stench so acrid and powerful it brought tears to Riana's eyes. What was this nightmare? Whatever it was, she caught a glance over; there it was, a gigantic blob whose form shifted and changed every few moments; the only constant were twelve eyes assembled in two columns, beady and with pinprick black pupils set against pure white irises, and the short, stubby but unmistakeable beak of a bird set between them - that, as it opened, split in four directions and revealed a maw made of three rows of teeth. The edges of its outer shell shifted, almost phasing in and out of reality as it did so. This was the eldritch monster that they had detected earlier, and was invariably responsible for part of whatever went on here.

First priorities first, though - Riana needed to break herself free. The magitech rifle disappeared as four of the six tubes of the leg missile launchers fired off their opening salvo at the body of the beast, right where the tentacles lashed out from somewhere on its form - they seemed to just be conjured from a random point on its body. Detonating on impact, the beast screamed again as Riana used that moment of distraction to conjure her energy sabre in one hand in reverse grip, dragging the blade along the tentacles that she could see and interact with. The energy sword sliced through the tentacles with only mild resistance, forcing them to separate from their body and release the suit of armour from their insidious grip. The remains of the tentacles twitched as they hit the floor with a wet plop, jerked, and then fizzled away in a steaming pile of ectoplasm.

Ri was gonna have to deep-clean her battlesuit after this, for sure.

Kil was far too busy with his own battle to assist her with this one, which was an absolute shame, but she'd fight this nonetheless. The sabre, having performed its duty, vanished away from Riana's hand as it was replaced with the rifle one more time. This monstrous creature was going to have to be put down, sooner rather than later, and Riana Maren would gladly consign it to the grave.

Post by Killua 17th March 2022, 7:04 pm

The mud-covered teen patiently waited for his opponent to make the next move, quickly requipping another magazine for his weapon of choice, the previously falling to the ground and into the mud. At the same time, the headmistress closed her eyes and brought her hands into a prayer-like position. "You'll make a wonderful new toy, you may even survive the experiments that I'll do on your little body." The witch commented as in the next moment gateways upon gateways appeared around the young mage, skeletal hands and what looked like to be blades made of sharpened bones came out of the portals and towards him.

Instinct wasn't going to save him, so he resorted to his magic to bring as much reflex and movement to his body in the tight space he had to maneuver between the sea of skeletal objects. Sending jolts of lightning to his muscle to make them move faster than he could ever possibly be able to without the magic he wielded. Spinning, taking singular steps backward, and even blocking with the body of his SMG, Kil made his best effort to block and dodge as many as possible of the skeletal arms that were slowly overwhelming him.

Still, no matter how much effort he put into it, cuts, bruises, and scratches began to appear everywhere on his body. He attempted to count the gateways that had appeared, but with every movement, it felt like more and more were appearing, and yet the witch hadn't even opened her eyes one time. Maybe this was part of her magic? The young boy thought as at this point her back was facing him and the barrage didn't even slow down.

Seeing as there was no way out without battling the skeletal armada, Kil reequipped the void blade back, discarding the SMG and quickly activating the energy weapon in its place. Jolt, slash, jolt, slash. This was the repeated pattern as the thunder slayer continued to enhance his own reflex to cut down as many hands as possible. Yet again there was no end to them as Kil continued to take more and more hits, in turn slowing him down.

"Enough!" The ex-soldier yelled as a thin layer of lightning appeared slightly above his skin and clothes, a small ball appearing in his free hand as well, chucking the ball forward a led light glowed a single time and exploded almost instantly, engulfing the young mage and the skeletal arms that assaulted him. The shockwave sent the young mage tumbling across the mud until his back made contact with the trunk of a tree, stopping him from sliding any further.

Looking back up towards his previous spot as the smoke cleared he noticed that he had gotten a significant distance from the arms and a lot of them were missing, if he had to guess they were destroyed. So many had been destroyed until now and he doubted that this was going to stop the sea of bones. His attention shifted towards the orphanage again as an explosion went off inside, it seems that Riana had her own problems. He had wondered where she had gone too and it looked like there was a valid reason for her disappearance. There was no way for him to help her, so the only thing he could do is have faith that she would deal with whatever was holding her up in the orphanage.

And he would do the same and deal with the witch, that had now turned towards him, no longer were her eyes closed and back turned towards him. Kil sighed, he was better than this and here he was getting beaten up by some skeletal hands. Pathetic.

Pushing himself up once again, cold blue eyes met piercing purple ones as both. Kil decided that he would take on the offensive again, if he got swarmed again he may take serious damage. Gathering tainted lightning in his mouth he released in a destructive bellow towards the witch, which in turn summoned a giant skeletal hand between them. The lightning struck hard and broke through the hand however it was successful in moving the lightning blast in a different direction, keeping the witch completely safe from his attack.

"It looks like I won't be able to do much against you with my current power." Kil remarked, to which the witch smirked.

"You might as well surrender now, so I don't have to repair your body once I'm done breaking you." The witch replied snarkily.

"Like you broke those kids? Made them into those disgusting things that you can't even call human anymore?" Cold blue eyes narrowed down as he gripped the void blade tighter, he was buying time for himself to think of a battle plan and how to land a few hits on her.

"Just failed test subjects that couldn't endure my magic. You on the other side, I feel like you will be able to become the perfect little weapon for me." The witch giggled, her eyes glowing once more as another portal opened up behind her, albeit slower than the last one.

Kil took a deep breath as he closed his eyes, moments later he opened them again, dark blue particles surrounded his body as his magical pressure increased, not soon after dark lightning exploded around him before concentrating around his body increased his pressure even further.

"You said that to the wrong person." Kil simply said before he charged forward with even more speed than before. Getting closer to his target, the young slayer saw that the portal was fully opened and from it several long elastic and distorted arms shot towards him. Using his void blade in an attempt to slice through it, he was surprised as he was stopped in place, the arm was tough even with all the moment he had he was unable to pierce it.

Instead, however, he smiled, disabling the energy blade, he let the momentum carry him, the giant arm sailing past him. By this point the creature that had attacked him was in full view, towering above her was this monstrosity of pure darkness that shifted its ever-changing body of unidentified and undefined substance, the only feature that it kept was his three arms at each side of its body, that would sway in every direction like it had no control over them.

It did, however, as two of its arms went flying towards the dark mage. Kil slid under the first one, the second coming in quick to swipe him from underneath, using his momentum he flipped over the second, a lightning whip appeared in his right free hand, he had gotten closer to the witch. While still in the air he struck towards the witch, the whip tangling around her leg, electrifying her, letting out an ear-piercing scream as the volts of electricity coursed through her body. "Rraah." The young mage roared as he twisted his body and pulled on the whip, dragging her through the mud and sending her into the orphanage's stone wall.

    'Above'

The warning again, this time however the operative didn't have time to react and move, as he looked up and saw the shadow of one of the creature's arms as it slammed him into the ground with its full weight.

Coughing blood, the lightning shield he had completely dissipated absorbing as much as it could, Kil found himself pushing against the weight of the creature, as it pushed more and more of its weight onto him. He found himself in quite the bind...

    Riana Maren
    Spooky Scary Oprhanage

The eldritch beast roared its trilling, unearthly cry as Riana beheld it, her audio processing subroutines filtering out some of the worst of the aural damage she would have inevitably suffered without the hands of her technology; with its voice alone it could have wreaked havoc upon untold thousands of people effortlessly. This creature, wherever it hailed from hence, was no doubt an abyssal creature whose origins sprung from some dark, unspeakable place, likely drawn forth with some pact forged in a hellish nightmare landscape promising eternal torment for either the witch that had signed the pact - or far more likely the people around her whose souls she intended to feed to its insatiable, rending maw. Riana was in no state of mind to be consumed by said maw, or to allow this monster to have its way beyond the confines of the building - this feeling came not from a sense of duty to the world, but from the incredible feeling of rage that was slowly swelling from the depths of her heart. This creature, its thralls, and its champions, would all die here. Every last one would be purged from the world in incinerating hellfire, rained down from a cacophony of high-tech weapons that would all systematically deploy to assist in the complete annihilation of the monster from the depths of another world. The scientist would no longer suffer its continued existence, for it was an abhorrent, twisted creature of nature.

In that moment, Riana had a choice to make. The way she handled this task in the next few seconds would be absolutely critical, for the woman could have had innumerable ways to handle this creature - she could have applied any number of high-tech weapons to this thing’s face. It, conversely, was likely going to try and eat her alive with its rows of teeth and expanding mouth. She was not going to allow that to happen - not only did she lack the inclination to die here, but she would refuse that death, as Riana and her interactions with death were limited primarily to no thank you - until the moment came that she had to choose how and when she eradicated this beast from the world.

Until, as Riana looked on in horror, it projected a series of portals, and began to attack through them. Immediately, the battlesuit reacted with inhuman speed, energy particles trailing from the wings as it pushed itself sideways to evade where she most likely expected an attack to come from in the first place - but no such attack was imminent. In fact, it was strange that she was not being attacked directly by the beast, for it very clearly had some of those beady little eyes locked on her battlesuit. The realisation struck her a moment later when she realised that attack was not for her - it was for Kil, currently outside, engaging his own target. He was struggling to fight his own enemies and this monster dared to take its focus away from her? No such crime would be permitted on her watch, and she would not permit this beast to take its focus off her for even a second. Despite whatever supernatural senses it may have possessed– perhaps the ability to think and process in four dimensions– she was here and a very present threat to her

”SOFI - full power to thrusters,” Riana murmured for just a moment.

-- Acknowledged. Magitech drive is now at one hundred and five percent capacity. –

The black-clad scientist pushed forward and wrapped the battlesuit in its red protective energy cocoon, engaging the thrusters for their full-force attack. Under most circumstances she could have phase shifted her way to any location she was required to be, but this idea needed a particular sort of touch - the kind of touch that was nothing less than a full-speed shoulder charge, striking the beast with the corner of the shoulder plate and wrapping her arms as best as she could around its constantly shifting body. The beast seemed to be taken off guard by such a brazen attack, but Riana continued and pushed through at maximum velocity regardless. She was planning on doing a single thing to throw it off its combative rhythm - force it out into the open where Killua could see it. And as we all know, whatever that kid could see, he could murder. Horrifically and brutally. Riana planned fully on assisting that cause in any way she could, naturally. It was the right thing to do - murder your enemies, of course, so much so that the onlookers never dared raise a finger against you.

Together, both machine and beast crashed through the outer wall of the orphanage in a shower of drywall, wood and plaster, the monstrous creature screaming as a banshee would the entire time. From inside the building Riana forced them both outside into the rain, where the creature was clearly not expecting to be as its noise became higher in pitch. Its mouth opened up so that it could find purchase against Riana’s left shoulder, forcing three rows of teeth down against hardened magisteel - and they performed the task well, latching on and finding some way into where Riana had forged her plate, cracking the metal in several places. Her thrusters immediately engaged full reverse, breaking away from the beast - but not before the plate physically tore away from her body and exposing her shoulder for the world to see. Blood dripped from the limb, and the arm itself felt almost useless as Riana winced in pain. She had yet to be so sorely tested against an enemy, which was in itself interesting. This fight was now becoming very real for her, and not simply a dispassionate exercise in killing indiscriminately as she was accustomed to. As the monster attempted to wrap its tentacles around her, conjured from yet another portal, Riana only served to kick the thrusters in harder and force it to loose its grip from her at high speed. Unyielding, the beast began to hover in the air, seemingly ignoring the laws of physics as it did so; being an eldritch monster likely had its perks and fourth-dimensional movement was a possible scenario for this creature.

Then, with an almighty kick from plated feet, Riana broke away from the monster and surveyed the situation before her. Below, Killua was entangled with the witch and the monster both, trying desperately to fight against an enemy that he could not see as well as the enemy that he could. Now, the puritan conjurer and the abomination she had summoned were both out here in the rain, where Ri felt the stinging pain of water hitting her wound. She’d have to deal with that one later.

”Enough of this charade,” she spat bitterly, before raising a hand to the sky - and calling upon all four of her mechanical minions, their black, crimson and gold forms shifting into life as they passed between quantum barriers and appeared before her. Pulsar, Guardian, Saviour - all three appeared. The sensor drone that Riana had conjured, somewhere above the house, faded away into nothingness - only to be replaced by her artificial intelligence’s mechanical form, its blade bits glowing that distinctive orange-red. Surrounded by her creations, Riana stared at their two foes as an angry god considered the puny insects that disrupted her. Guns, swords and energy beams all prepared, they could certainly hold their fire back long enough for Riana to drive the point home that neither her or her ally were messing around any more. The cavalry had arrived, and it was here to cause some very real damage.

”Kil, I hope you plan on murdering these wastes of oxygen,” she said to the white-haired child soldier below her, before her machines spread out and served to do what they do best - distract the enemy long enough for them to purge the foe from existence.

Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana) Empty Re: Clover's eerie Orphanage (Job/Killua and Riana)

Post by Killua 25th March 2022, 6:40 pm

The young mage pushed against the overwhelming arm that was crushing him into the ground,  blood pouring down his face from the impact. His head snapped to the side to where he had thrown the witch into the wall of the orphanage, trying to get a better look at the damage he had caused with his one eye that wasn't covered in blood and obscuring his vision. It was hard to discern from all the rain, but seeing her slowly walking out of the debris with a limp, made him smile, it looks like he did a number on her.

His attention was quickly brought back to his current predicament as the beast pushed down further and Killua fought with his tiny arms to push its oversized one further away from his body. The mind of the young soldier racing at what his options were, maybe he could Phase, but in his current situation it could be dangerous, especially when he was pinned down. His body glowed in dark lightning for a second as he released another technique, sending electricity all around him and up towards the arm that was pinning him down, however, the only response he got was the shaking of the said arm as before the dark lightning wore off.

Before he could try something else, a white light caught his attention. A white light that was coming from the witch was yet again in a prayer-like stance, mumbling something that the young slayer couldn't understand. She looked concentrated, and whatever she was doing Kil knew he had to somehow stop it, he was an easy target at the moment to be hit with something slower that would take him out.

Kil grit his teeth as he took one arm out that was resisting the weight above him, as pain shot through his whole system with only one hand between his body being crushed. He focused as he aimed, his hand mimicking a gun as tainted lightning gathered at the tip of his index finger. Shakingly he aimed towards the witch before releasing the fast traveling bolt of lightning that pierced her through the shoulder, whatever she was doing was stopped as the light died down.

He was aiming for somewhere more lethal, but that would do... He grit his teeth as the beast pushed down on his lone arm, he could swear he heard something crack. And the next moment the pain was gone, he felt the arm being lifted, and he turned his head as he heard something crashing loudly, to see that it was Riana and with her the monster that had pinned him down.

She took some damage, evident from the exposed arm that wasn't covered in her armor. The usual stoic, emotionless scientist looked enraged as she called out to him, as he got up from the ground now free from the monster.

"You bet I have and I'm ready to finish this as fast as possible." He said, requiping his Flight Suit without the helmet, and quickly gripped the joysticks pressing the big red buttons as the missile salvos aligned and spat the Hailstorm missiles at both the witch and eldritch being. It was mostly a diversion, as some of the missiles missed their target due to the fast release and not taking the time to correctly aim it, but some still hit their target.

"Buy me some time, if you don't finish them before I prepare and be ready to take cover." He said, the thrusters of the jetpack whirling to life as he shot up high towards the rainy clouds, and slowly began to generate high amounts of tainted lightning.

    Riana Maren
    Spooky Scary Oprhanage

"My pleasure," she spat, venom dripping from each and every syllable as Riana contemplated the violence that she was about to enact on the eldritch abomination and the enthralled witch that served it. She personally was running low on magical energy-- the energy that she inevitably relied on to fuel her magitech creations. She, however, could project her power through their bodies, and ensure that the four mechanical monstrosities she had created herself would be willing, ready and able to combat the witch. Perhaps it was best if Killua performed the final blow, given that her heads-up display was blinking at her that she was already running low. She could feel it, too, if truth be told. Her movements were becoming lax and laggard in their execution, meaning that she would inevitably need to consume some form of energy if she wished to keep up with this battle for an extended period of time. She knew that he, with his greater magical strength, would be the one to deal the finishing blow. A coup de grace that was made possible by his insane mastery of a wide variety of different magics and technologies.

A string of detonations followed as Killua's missile launchers found their targets - those that did not tore the dirt up beneath them, sending a shower of earth and fire towards the heavens. The hailstorm battery had at least lived up to its name, that was for sure. Riana's eyes, shrouded by burning crimson, beheld the missiles as they followed their flight path before finding zenith upon their foes. The eldritch beast roared in pain and the witch countered with a wave of her hand, a coruscating purple-white shield flickering in and out of existence to protect her from the worst of the damage. It was all Riana could do as she raised a hand covered in cracked metal plating, the avenging goddess of mechanical destruction contemplating her next movement.

It would not be her movement that would end the fight, however - but her minions would perform that for her admirably. "Tear them to shreds!"

Pulsar, Guardian and Saviour's long mono-eyed visors all flashed with the instructions, encoded from the vibrations of her voice into magical commands that they interpreted. Meanwhile, the body of SOFI-A began to move, magitech drive emitting a blanket of particles as the shapely metal form began to dominate the skies. Blade bits detached from the mech's body as they formed criss-crossing and distracting patterns, all intertwined with Pulsar's twin energy blast raining lashing alternating fire down upon the eldritch monster. It chose the smartest option in order to protect itself and began to phase in and out of existence as the blasts came towards it, the first three all missing their mark - however, it did not expect to be face to face with two foes so suddenly as both Guardian and Saviour fell upon the monster, Guardian already moving to strike it with its energy saber and the defensive platform folding its beam platforms forward over its shoulders to shoot forth a twin shot of coruscating purple and black energy, almost ultraviolet - the energy, lancing forth from every pore of the beam generator field, wracked the monster's body in that same energy-draining torment that would sapped it of its strength to fight. So properly chastened for its defiance of the woman who sought to be the goddess of the domain of magical science, the eldritch monster unleashed its unholy cry of pure rage.

Riana folded her arms, the wings behind her back adjusting to keep her in place. She stared down and considered her two foes, knowing that her efforts so far were yet nothing.

As her mind willed their destruction, the robotic slaves gave that wish form. In the next instant, Guardian was already barrelling down upomn the witch to distract her by serving as a very real threat, brandishing sword and shield in order to keep her on her toes. The red-glowing battlesuit cut the air once, twice, yet thrice - and not one of those strikes found purchase upon their mystical foe, who used manipulation of portals to slip through the floor and then behind Guardian from above it, her feet touching the ground as she delivered a dark shockwave of energy, sending the mech a considerable distance, gashed open and crackling from its robotic spine.

SOFI, the artificial intelligence, chose that precise moment to maneuver her blade bits in perfect geometric sync to align and unleash their own energy barrage at a distance. Both monstrous foes were struck by the lattice of energy blasts, knocking the witch flying and making the monster cry in rage as Riana engaged two targets simultaneously without even having to lift a single finger. SOFI's temporary body was beside its master's, high above the battlefield, even as their eyes beheld the carnage that was beginning to sweep all that was below.

Riana cast an eye skyward, ready to sacrifice two of her minions if it meant that this thorough distraction would guarantee the destruction of her enemies. Now was the time, before they could regroup and recover.

Post by Killua 29th March 2022, 5:10 am

The young mage pushed the damp hair that was covering portions of his eyes as he looked up towards the rainy clouds, hovering high above the earth, the rain's sound almost dampened by the sound of his jet engines that roared on his back. He could hear the fighting continue below him as Riana unleashed her attacks, but at this point, he was high up in the air so he could be undisturbed, he would need a few moments nothing more the witch and the monster would be gone, or at least he hoped so, Riana had the ability to fly so he wasn't worried about her getting away safely.

Looking down he could see the Errings Rising member battling the two, her mechanical creations attacking instead of her. He couldn't exactly make out the fight as the distance was making it hard for him, but as soon as he noticed that the witch was sent flying and crashing, and the painful roar of the creature, Kil took this as his que.

Extending his right hand, a bow made of pure dark lightning appeared in his hand, while in the left, a singular arrow of the same type of lightning crackled violently, with all the magic that was being poured into it. This was his current ultimate technique, and this would be the second time he would get to use it, he refrained usually as it drew too much attention, but he couldn't limit himself, not in fights like these ones.

Straining the arrow against the string of lightning he pulled and aimed in-between the two enemies. With one swift motion, he released the arrow, flying down as it illuminated the rain around it, lightning jumping between the raindrops. A singular wire trailed behind the lightning that was wrapped around Kil's left arm, the one used to hold the arrow. When the arrow reached it's close enough between the two, Kil violently pulled on the wire, said wire cutting in half and forcing the arrow to detonate mid-air, unleashing a storm of lightning in a circle. The lightning storm devastated anything in its path, the sheer loud sound muffling everything else as it boomed like a thunder strike that just landed next to you.

The young slayer smiled, examining his handy work from above, as the storm settled down he flew down, running slightly forward before stopping once he had landed. The beast was nowhere in sight, if he had to guess it returned to whatever plane of existence it. However, the prone form of the witch was in front of him, laying down on the cold muddy ground, he walked up to her carefully, ready to jump back at a moment's notice if anything strange occurred.

Kneeling down, he placed a hand on her neck to feel for her pulse, after a few moments, he noted that he wasn't able to find one... good their job was done. Turning around he walked back towards the last place he saw Riana, unknown to him a portal had opened under the witch's body and swallowed her whole.

"Riana you okay?" He called out, attempting to find her, the faster he found her the faster they could leave this place.

    Riana Maren
    Spooky Scary Oprhanage

The last thing that Riana saw before the world crackled to a beautiful ending in a perfect storm below her was the young man readjusting his position ever so slightly above her. Then, chaos enveloped the world and Riana could not hide her smile as she watched her fellow electricity-manipulating slayer consume all in his path. He had loosed a single arrow from a spectral bow and, in that moment, the lightning that said arrow rode was a beautiful chariot of heavensflame that consumed all in its path. She watched on rapt as it detonated near the ground, consuming all within its circle of annihilation; even Guardian and Saviour, her two conjured creations, were not spared Killua's wrath; as their bodies were wracked with black energy the same as the rest of the child soldier's entirely destructive attacks, she knew that her dispassionate lack of attachment to her creations would serve her perfectly as he did nothing short of annihilate everything inside the circle of entropy that his abilities had created.

It was a joy to watch.

A slow breath out as the air finally decided to settle; the rain was the only sound other than the thrum of engines, before Riana wove her fingers through the air and caused both Pulsar floating near the carnage below and SOFI's secondary body to vanish from the world, their steel corpses folding themselves back into the aether to be conjured once again in the future. The scientist no longer had to sustain her own thralls now that combat had finished and every foe was vanquaished-- whose sudden departure did not go unnoticed, for while the beast had escaped from her vision the view of the witch being consumed had not escaped her. In all, this fight was over. The children-- what was left of them-- would be safe. Well, if there were any left alive, at the very least. Riana had seen to the sudden removal of existence of a number of them. Perhaps it was better that they no longer suffered the fate of a lack of free will, and their miserable lives had been ended before they experienced the death of thought.

"Could be worse," Riana commented dryly, already summoning her nanite repair team to heal the flesh that had been wounded. Though a slow process-- she was by no means a healer-- she could at least begin repairing the trauma to her epidermis. That was the worst of it, though she would likely need to spend some time rejuvenating herself later on more correctly. This would be an ongoing process, especially as she observed small trails of green running over her arm as skin was beginning to knot back together. Painful? Yes, but the process would at least work.

First, a slow breath. Centre oneself. Fight back the emotions and resume composure. Science was best completed dispassionately with an eye only for empirical results, which she now had. Employing combat to remove the threat had proven successful.

"Status, Killua?" she asked by way of reply to check in on her most stalwart ally, one who had more than proven his abilities time and time again. This was no exception. "I'm ready to return, if you are."

Kil sighed in relief as Riana appeared before him, letting out a dry laugh at her comment. "You know this is the first time something tried to squish me to death, surprisingly." Throughout all of his missions, not one time did they try to squish him under something, or even tried to bury him alive under rock and rubble. "Sorry about your little robots, I hope you'll be able to patch them up, I couldn't really aim to not hit them." He rubbed the back of his head, he really didn't want to him them, but they just got in the crossfire of his attack.

He decided to follow her example, a small glass canister appeared in his hand, the green like nanites flowing like liquid inside of it. Putting over his damaged arm, he applied a small amount of force on top of it and the green liquid began to release like gas, slowly enveloping him as they began to heal him.

He perked up when Riana called to him. "Yea, I'm pretty much ready, so let's go back." The engines on the jetpack whirled to life again as he requiped his helmet back on. Taking one last look at the orphanage that used to glow like a Christmas tree, now was just a pile of rubble, there was something intact and maybe some rooms at the back, however, the major portion of it was destroyed. Whatever twisted experiments happened here were put to an end, and it put a decent paycheck into both mage's pockets, deep inside he was glad that he was the one that got to kill the headmistress. Hot air and flames were expelled through the jetpack and he soon found himself high into the air, both of them making their journey back towards Mt. Hakobe.
