Magic
Magic Name: Chromaturgy
Magic Type: Solitary Ancient (+50% Spell Damage)
Description: An ancient form of magic kept alive by the mages of the Chromeria, a cult-like community in the wastes of Desierto, Chromaturgy revolves around the use of light and color. The wizard, known as a 'drafter' in Chromeria terminology, absorbs light through the eyes and expels it from the body as a physical substance called 'luxin.' This process is known as 'drafting'. What effect the luxin has is dependent upon its color. Most drafters can only draft one or two colors. Drafting three or more is rare. Only one person, known as the Prism in the Chromeria, is capable of drafting off of white light, splitting it within their body and producing all colors. Other drafters require their color or colors to be present.
As the Prism, Aletheia Lux is a 'lightsplitter', able to use all colors without any special equipment. She is also what is known as a 'superchromat', possessing a rare trait that allows her to see color with far greater clarity than an ordinary person, able to tell the difference between two tones, that most people would see as identical, at a glance. She also possesses the ability to consciously control the aperture of her pupil and the shape of her lenses, allowing her to see below the visible spectrum, into the wavelengths known as sub-red, and above the visible spectrum, into superviolet. By dilating her pupils so widely her irides disappear, she can see what is called 'paryl', which exists below sub-red. Each color is also linked to certain emotions or states of mind, which affect the drafter the more they draft. Below is a description of what each color of luxin does and how it is most often used.
Superviolet - Invisible to most people, as it is made of wavelengths shorter than the average human eye can see, superviolet luxin is solid but brittle, most commonly used to create invisible walls and traps, and mark targets on a battlefield. Outside of battle, it is used for cryptography and creating hidden messages. Superviolets have a removed outlook and are sometimes cold.
Blue - Blue luxin is hard, strong, and smooth. The second strongest luxin, it is used to create anything from walls to armor to weapons, and can be added to other luxins to make them more durable. Blues are unfailingly rational and orderly, disdaining emotion and chaos.
Green - Green luxin is springy and flexible. It can be used as anything from furniture to shields, and added to other luxins to make them more resilient. Greens are wild and free, finding it difficult to respect authority if they even recognize it.
Yellow - Yellow luxin is usually drafted as a liquid, called brightwater, that releases its energy back to light quickly, making effective torches or to trigger explosives. Its light also replenishes other luxins, extending their durability. Similar to water turning into ice, when yellow is drafter perfectly (i.e. exactly in the middle of it's wavelengths, a feat that can only be accomplished by a superchromat), it loses all liquidity and becomes the most solid and durable luxin. Lying in the middle of the spectrum, yellows are both rational and emotional, making them clear thinkers.
Orange - Orange luxin is heavy, slick and lubricative, often used to coat moving parts of machines. Unique to other luxins, orange can be used to create 'hexes', which manipulate the emotions of anyone who views them. Oranges are empathetic, able to more accurately understand the emotions and motivations of others.
Red - Red luxin is viscous, sticky, and extremely flammable. Called pyrejelly, it is used to create torches or bombs. Reds are impulsive and quick-tempered, with a love for destruction.
Sub-red - Existing below the visible spectrum, sub-red is sensed as heat. Sub-red luxin can be drafted from the heat of the drafter's surroundings, allowing the drafter to, in a sense, manipulate heat. Stable sub-red luxin is drafted as a solid, called a flame crystal, that turn into fire when exposed to air. Sub-reds are passionate, the most emotional of all drafters.
Paryl - Paryl is difficult to draft, existing even below sub-red on the spectrum. It can be used to create a 'paryl torch', the gaseous form of the luxin, which allows the drafter to see through solid objects, unless they are made of metal. This makes it useful for espionage and reconnaissance. Drafted as a liquid or solid, it can also be used to create 'beacons' that only paryl drafters, or others that can see below the visible spectrum, can see. Paryl drafters are the most empathetic, sometimes feeling other's emotions as their own.
White - White luxin, which can only be drafted by a lightsplitter such as the Prism, is a near-mythical substance to the drafters of the Chromeria. It has the ability to mend wounds, allowing the drafter a 'lay-on-hands' style of healing. White drafters are compassionate and kind.
Black - Black luxin, known as hellstone, devours light, color, and luxin, and is resistant to certain other types of magic. Capable of being drafted only by a lightsplitter, it is effective at making barriers against magic or weapons that drain mana. Black drafters are cruel and sadistic.
Each type of luxin must be 'sealed' in order for the drafter to use its properties effectively. 'Held' or 'open' luxin requires the drafter to maintain contact with the luxin, both physical and mental contact, or it evaporates back into light.

- Plot abilities:
As a full-spectrum superchromat, Aletheia has perfect color vision. This is based on the real-life trait of tetrachromacy, in which certain animals possess four or more color receptors in their eyes, allowing them to see more wavelengths of light than the average human. Essentially, it is the opposite of colorblindness.
As a full-spectrum polychrome (drafter of more than two colors), and a lightsplitter, Aletheia is only affected by the emotional/mental components of luxin when drafting the respective colors. Sometimes, when she feels a strong emotion, that emotion will be reflected in the color of her eyes.
- Ability 1: Will of the Prism: As the Prism, the most powerful drafter, Aletheia gains a 40% buff to her Magic Power pool.
