Night Raid
Purgers of Corruption
Purgers of Corruption
Overview
The world is filled with corruption and those who suffer under that corruption. All around Fiore, there are those who are motivated only by their own greed and their lust for power, and those people harm the innocents that are within this world. Night Raid seeks to stop these people by any means necessary.
However, Night Raid is not a guild like others who seek to protect the innocent. They are not heroes. They are not bastions of honor and nobility. They will be called villains by the very same people they aim to protect. They are, in fact, murderers and terrorists. They perform assassinations upon those that are corrupt, that are evil, that darken the world with their crimes. Whether or not the Council recognizes them as criminals, regardless of whether or not they go against the Council or the Crown itself, Night Raid will do what is necessary for the good of the people. Night Raid are the ultimate executors of justice, and they will not bow to the whims of the Council for permission to perform their retribution upon the evils in the world.
At its core, Night Raid is still a business despite their lofty goal. They are a guild of assassins, hired to perform contracts. Even so, they are not wanton murderers. Each member of the guild is instructed to examine the guilt of the contracted target, ensuring that they are indeed a menace to the world, regardless of how big of a threat they are. If the assassins of Night Raid find that a target is innocent, then they will refuse the contract. Should guilt be established, then the contract is fulfilled and the target is executed.
Night Raid believes that those who hide darkness in the light of a public face are incapable of rehabilitation and thus their only sentence is death. This is especially true of the people who are regarded as being beneficial to the people. Government officials regardless of importance, police, public workers, members of so-called ‘legal’ guilds - all of them shall be held onto a higher standard. These people are beyond the small scale of other contracted targets due to their additional responsibility, and thus they shall not be forgiven for lighter crimes. Corruption is especially abhorrent in these cases, as these are the positions that should work for the people exclusively and not for their own gain.
As assassins who focus mainly on high-profile targets, the members of Night Raid inevitably gain notoriety for their killing, regardless of how stealthy their missions are. Due to the importance of gathering information on public figures, there is a small cell dedicated to gathering information. This cell is called the “Stalkers” and is led by an Ace of the guild, who is referred to as the Listener. The Stalkers and the Listener listen to the requests of clients, as well as gathering information about the targets. To ensure the genuineness of a request, the client must speak to a member of Night Raid directly. This will often be a Stalker or the Listener themselves, but any member of Night Raid can perform this essential function. The client is not required to speak to the guild member face-to-face, but the guild member is to make it known that they are present.
Since Night Raid functions all across the country, they must cast a wider net than they are fully capable of with their limited membership. While there are sometimes postings for members of Night Raid to eliminate targets, there are some targets that are too powerful to allow those to become public. This is where the mysterious figure known simply as the “Night Speaker” comes into play. Few people know about the Speaker, as this is something only known by the Guildmaster and the aces of the guild. The Speaker is a seemingly omniscient being of indeterminate age, able to tell if a request is being made anywhere in the world. However, the Speaker is often quiet, and only speaks to the Listener and the guildmaster. It is not known why this is the case, but Night Raid accepts it, as the Speaker’s assistance is invaluable.
Goals and Values
- Remove political corruption in Fiore’s government. Those with the most power should be held to the highest standard. Corruption at the highest levels is inexcusable and must be removed by any means necessary.
- Eliminate corruption within the legal guilds. As above, corruption among those with the highest power is inexcusable and must be punished. While the government is Night Raid's primary target, those among the legal guilds of Fiore must be judged as well.
- “Judge evils which heaven cannot judge”. Members of Night Raid have seen corruption and evil across the nation, and have seen no one do anything about it. If no one else is willing to make a stand, Night Raid shall be the ones to do so.
- Judge, Jury, and Executioner of those that do evil. Doing the right thing often means doing what no one else is willing to do. Regardless of laws, members of Night Raid will remove those who are corrupt and evil. They take lives in their own hands, judge whether or not they are worthy of death, and execute them should they be found wanting.
- Perform assassinations of the morally corrupt for the right price. In the end, Night Raid has need of money. While they are not the unscrupulous assassins most are familiar with, taking contracts without thought of who was giving the contract or who they would be killing, to achieve their goals Night Raid must have income. To that end, they hire out their services, taking contracts and kill requests.
- However, no member of Night Raid shall kill a target without first establishing their guilt. To do so is against Night Raid’s core values, such as they are. No innocent shall be harmed by the blade of a Night Raid member.
Guild Hall/Location
The main guild ‘hall’ for Night Raid begins at an upscale ‘speakeasy’ type bar in downtown Crocus called the Nightshade. The entrance to the Nightshade is located in an alleyway behind a large shopping center. To gain access to the hidden bar, one must know the passcode, which is a series of knocks upon the concealed door and changes every week for additional secrecy. Within the bar, which is staffed by guild members and civilians in the guild’s employ, there is yet another secret entrance that one must have a key for, which grants access to the guild hall proper. This ‘hall’ is in fact a warren of underground tunnels, part of an old sewer system. The executive members of Night Raid spent considerable time blocking all other access to this network of hidden tunnels and caves, save for one or two other secret entrances, as well as cleaning it out, expanding it, and turning it into a suitable living space for the guild members.

There are also a number of ‘outposts’ across Fiore, smaller underground complexes not much more than a single cavern and a few offshoot tunnels. These serve as stopovers for Night Raid members travelling across the country and bases for members to operate out of. They typically only have a single entrance and exit, a password-locked door concealed behind outcroppings or ridges or hedges.
Guild Mark
The unofficially-official logo of Night Raid is a winged dagger, symbolizing achieving lofty heights by spilling blood. Upon banners and the like, the blade dagger is colored black while the wings are blood red.
- Guild Mark:
There is also an unofficial mark solely for the Stalker cell of the guild. It takes the form of a dagger with the body of a bird, symbolizing the Stalkers' role of observing their targets like an eagle.

Guild Color
The color chosen by Night Raid is a crimson red, reminiscent of the blood they spill in the name of justice.
