The Tetsukazan man had encountered the ship resting deep in the Phoenix Mountains. He’d nearly run into the thing due to its cloaking disguise that made it blend into the forest. It had been left by a mysterious member of his race with very little information as to why. The grounded airship had no name. Dagda had tried to fix it up by himself with varying success, so he had reached out to his friend Percy Dagger to help. The two worked together to get the ship up and running again and upgrade some of the old tech within it.
During that time, as he discovered what all the ship was capable of, an idea brewed in Dagda’s head. It had been just a wisp nagging at the edge of his mind for a while, but now, the giant ship that could carry many people was the final puzzle piece. He was the kind of person to value the balance between advanced beings and nature. It was something that ran deeply in the culture of his people back on Tetsukazu. There was a delicate structure of life that had to be maintained, and yet not everyone cared. Not everyone was concerned about the destruction others caused, and he hadn’t noticed any large groups in Fiore that worked together to combat this issue.
However, there were a few individuals Dagda had met on Earthland who seemed to have similar values as he. Though he’d met them at different times and places, they always rose to his mind when he contemplated this idea sparking in his head. In the captain’s quarters of the ship, he’d spent hours before bed thinking, plotting, researching. He’d scribbled down notes and mentally explored all the upsides and downsides until he was confident in the solidity of the idea. A name for the ship had come to him as he wrote down the last detail - the S.S. Endeavor. That’s exactly what this all was: an endeavor. Hopefully the name would make the former captain proud, wherever he was.
Dagda desired to gather together people who valued the delicate balance of the natural world. Though he had only met a few, there ought to be more people out there who would be willing to join a group such as this. Originally the plan had been more of a small task force, but blossomed into something greater: a guild. Those who hunted monsters could be part of a team that extracted dangerous creatures and relocated them. Others who were more inclined towards natural spaces could work to research and preserve environments. All would work together to maintain the balance and correct one side when it overstepped.
With the help of his friend Lazar, an old man who ran a medical supplies shop in Magnolia, Dagda had designed and printed some flyers. These papers were posted up on bulletin boards in the town and spread out to other towns. Dagda himself had gone to as many places as he could, spending hours tacking and taping his flyers up. The text printed on them spoke fairly vaguely of a banquet being held by Dagda to gather those interested in natural preservation. It stated a date, time, and location as well. This method was truly a shot in the dark, but it was the best way he knew of to get the word out as far as possible.
In the navigation room, Dagda paced apprehensively. Each step rang out with the dull sound of boots against tile. This day had been long coming, the preparations had kept him up many previous nights. His dreams had been tumultuous, though none of them could be recalled exactly. The titan was putting his all into this day. His future in Earthland depended on how everything went.
For the tenth time in the last hour, Dagda raised up the little control tablet to check that the shuttle pods were ready. A few taps on the screen led him to view the external lacrima-cam at the bottom of the ship. The pods stood on the ground below, as ready as they had been the last time he picked up the tablet. A little distance away lay a lake. He’d instructed anyone who saw the flyers and was interested to come to this area for the meeting. So far nobody had appeared yet, but it was still a while until the time he had designated.
Dagda may have been a skeptic, but he was hardly ever a cynic. Hope beat in his chest along with his anticipate heart. People had to have seen the flyers. There would be some arriving, there just had to be! Too many people existed in Fiore for the turn out to his banquet to be empty. He knew he wasn’t the only one who held these values, he had met a few others before. But until the cameras notified him, the only thing to do was pace and hope. He briefly wondered where Percy was on the ship, but he knew the two-toned man would appear eventually.
The self-guiding pods on the ground below were large enough to carry five people each up to the top tier of the S.S. Endeavor, called the Arborium. Made of mainly metal, the little contraptions were externally painted white and a gorgeous blue color. Glass covered the outside of the open hatches so the passengers could see out. There were enough pods for any attendees to take one up alone or wait for a larger group to go up in one. Either way, the pods would dock on the highest deck.
Upon entering a pod, people would hear a little automated message play.
“Welcome to the S.S. Endeavor! Thank you for your interest in today’s banquet event. We will be departing shortly for the top tier of the ship and will be landing in the Arborium, where the banquet will be held. There is food and refreshments available once we arrive.”
