Name: Kokoro Tammaro
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Birthday: September 8th
Sexuality: Demiromantic Asexual
Special Characteristics: Has a distinctive mark on his face that he doesn't talk about much. While it often appears as a simple tattoo when Kokoro uses magic the marking glows in direct proportion to the power of the magic he is wielding.
Personality: For Kokoro knowledge is everything, it is his one true love, it is the end that justifies all possible means. If given the opportunity to get out and socialize or pour over some ancient barely readable tomes for Kokoro it wouldn't even be a question. He has a tendency to look down on most people, viewing the average citizen as a willfully ignorant sheep who contributes little to the progress of society. This gives many the impression that he is cold and perhaps even cruel. While there is some truth there to be sure, in the rare cases where Kokoro finds someone he respects it makes a world of difference. People who are passionate about bettering themselves or the world around them are the kind of people he tries to surround himself with whenever possible. Seeing other people motivated to grow helps him to stay motivated as well. Still, because he doesn't interact with people as much he is often quiet and shy around others when talking about personal things. This is in direct contrast to when he is working. If he is on a mission or leading a research project that he knows a great deal about he is very straightforward in his approach, giving clear instructions that he expects to be followed. Likewise if he is assisting someone he recognizes as an expert in a particular field he will defer to them and do his best to assist them in whatever way they require.
Placing a priority on order and control, Kokoro comes off a little bit neurotic at times. While he can take direction from those he respects, such respect has to be earned first and that is not always easy. Until someone proves their value Kokoro has difficulty accepting someone being in power over him. Steadfast and determined in regards to his convictions, he grew up poor in a family with no power or influence and he knows that he never wishes to return to such a life again. His focus can be almost detrimental at times, long hours spent doing research leading to him skipping out on meals or sleep at times. When he has a project he gives it his all, even if it means hurting himself some in the process.
When it comes to conflict, Kokoro's need for control surfaces again. He doesn't like to put himself at risk unless he feels he understands the situation well enough to virtually guarantee his success. The idea of honorable combat is laughable to Kokoro. At the end of the day there are the conquerors and the conquered and Kokoro is happy to do whatever it takes to ensure he is the former rather than the latter. He is likewise willing to run from a situation that becomes too chaotic or dangerous to handle and return when he feels better able to tackle the problem at hand.

Likes:
- Research: First and foremost, Kokoro lives for his research. Unlike some he is deeply passionate about getting hand on in his experiments and research into ancient magic and artifacts. Kokoro will often put others and even himself at great risk for the sake of furthering his own knowledge and research.
- Secrets: While he loves to expand his knowledge he is not especially concerned with sharing it. Indeed, he is happy to hoard his knowledge and secrets as much as possible. Knowledge is power and keeping secrets close to his chest is one way that Kokoro ensures he stays relevant.
- Control: It is important for Kokoro to feel in control of a situation. Although he can take orders from someone, unless he respects them as an individual it often grates on him. He is happiest when he is given freedom to operate as he sees fit without letting moral bickering get in the way.
Dislikes:
- Disorder: Kokoro's life as a whole is quite orderly, his work stations are always carefully organized. Everything has a place and a purpose and when people don't recognize that it frustrates Kokoro.
- Ignorance: Those who live in willful ignorance, happy to let the world pass them by without questioning or understanding anything disgust Kokoro. People who don't appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the world around them dont deserve the bounty of that world.
- Limitations: He does not do especially well with limitations or restrictions. People who slow his research by complaining about what is "right and wrong" irritate him. Morality is an excuse used by those who fear progress.
Motivations:
- Knowledge: Put simply, Kokoro wants to know everything it is possible to know. Anything that can be learned, any secrets that can be uncovered, Kokoro wants to attain that knowledge. Knowledge is a source of power and influence that Kokoro understands intimtately.
- Profit: Having lived through poverty Kokoro has no desire to return to such a life again if at all possible. The ease of availability of resources and funding was the main reason that Kokoro sought to join a mage's guild in the first place.
- Legacy: Tales of immortality are interesting but until he finds concrete proof of it being possible all people die eventually. But as long as you leave some kind of legacy, discover something new or progress the world's understanding of magical principles you never really die. Kokoro hopes to make himself immortal though his research and discoveries.
Fears:
- Being Forgotten: No one truly dies until they and all they have worked for are forgotten. Kokoro is terrified of the idea of all that he has worked for, all his research, amounting to nothing and ultimately being forgotten.
- Irrelevance: Perhaps it is a sign of pride, but Kokoro hates feeling useless. If a problem catches his attention he feels the need to contribute to solving said problem in some way. People who do nothing and offer nothing sicken him and he has no desire to become one of the,
- Total Submersion: As a young boy Kokoro was pulled underwater by a powerful riptide and very nearly drowned. For several years Kokoro couldn't shower because the sensation of water on his face terrified him. These days it isn't quite so extreme but there is still a visceral panic whenever his head is completely submerged in water.
