Post by Kyran 9th March 2021, 10:15 pm

Kyran stood on the snow. The wind whipped his trench coat back and forth. Bellum troops milled about behind him. The redhead sighed heavily, ice crystals forming from the exhale. This wasn't the kind of battle he wanted. He wanted a battle where his strength was pitted against one of equal or higher strength. Taking on multiple opponents wasn't bad either. However, Kyran didn't fight for the kill. He fought for the pleasure of fighting. Fighting an opponent multiple times with various outcomes was more satisfying then a fight to the death. There was one other thing that was irritating the slayer. For once, it wasn't his demons. They were gorged on the essence of despair and fear that hung about the camp. No, Kyran's irritation came from...

"Mercenary Dyer! Front and center soldier!" A shrill voice shrieked over the wind. The redhead heaved another sigh. That was the voice of his brother in law, Vesa Sabin. Kyran had thrashed the bugger as a VP of WFTC some time ago. Now that Kyran had signed up for the clash of nations as a mercenary, the asshole thought he could order Kyran around. The slayer did an abrupt about face. Vesa sat with a shit eating grin on his face. Two Bellum knights flanked him to either side. Kyran kept a relaxed stance, hands behind his back. If he wanted to pull something, he'd do so as stealthily as possible. His actions here reflected on Meliora Vitae as well as Gaia. Neither was an outcome he wanted. However, he didn't have to stand for any abuse from his unfortunate relation either.

"Report with the grunts to dig latrines, Mercenary Dyer. After that report to Archpriest Filory over on the western flank. She has a taste for redheads. You'll service her however she wish- urk!" Kyran had his hand wrapped around Vesa's throat. The knights didn't even have time to move. Yes! Crush throat! Drink Blood! Kill! Kill! Ahriman screamed in his head, excited by the sudden violence. Kyran let the demon wolf's power bleed into his eyes. An angry crimson replaced his blue eyes. Glancing at the knights, the redhead growled. "Don't even think about it." He unleashed his hold on his magical power, letting all of them feel it. Vesa blanched when he realized Kyran was stronger than when they'd first met. "My brother in law needs to learn that I'm not to be hazed. Unfortunately, he's a small man who only learns through violence." The knights nodded, wisely stepping away. They took stances as if nothing was happening.

Kyran tossed Vesa away from him with a noise of disgust. "I may be a mercenary with no title, Vesa but I'm not a grunt. You have no jurisdiction over me via the contract I signed with Bellum. You try anything, any flex of the power you think you have, I'll withdraw my support. I don't think your superiors would be very happy with you then." Ahriman growled at the diplomatic approach. He wanted to crush the enemy underfoot. Erebus and Malinda, on the other hand, clapped in support. Both appreciated fancy wordplay. Vesa sputtered from the snow. Kyran's lip rolled back to reveal pointed teeth. "Listen, Vesa. I can crush you underfoot. If I decided to do so, it would take a team of your clerics and Archpriests to stop me. Even then, I'm not sure they'd manage before I killed you. The only thing stopping me is your sister. My wife, though I can't imagine why, loves her family. So I won't kill you." Kyran stepped over Vesa. As he walked away, Kyran masked his magical presence. "That wouldn't stop me from crushing a few of your limbs though." He said over his shoulder. Vesa shouldn't be a problem now. He hoped.

The result of unleashing his power came to bite him rather quickly. A messenger appeared within five minutes. "Archpriest Filory, Archpriest Thrash and Templar Horus would like to see you, Mercenary Dyer." Kyran bowed to the woman, gesturing for her to lead the way. He was brought to a large tent. Stepping inside, he assumed his relaxed stance. Ahriman whispered for him to crush those inside. Three regal figures stood gathered around a table. Each had resplendent robes, glimmering with enchantments. Two sported platinum blonde hair while the last had black of the darkest night. Kyran wondered if they had any illusions on with the perfections of their visages. Off to the side was Vesa, a nasty grin on his face. The three figures looked up. The only female smiled lasciviously. Archpriest Filory then, with an unhealthy appetite for married people. One who revealed in homewrecking. Templar Horus stood at the head of the table. He gestured for Kyran to approach.

"Its come to our attention you have an issue with Duke Sabin." The man said in a low baritone voice. "We cannot let such an issue stand in the way of our success here today. As such, we..." Kyran raised a hand, palm outward. The templar stopped raising an eyebrow. "Templar, I mean no disrespect. I came here willingly, not because I was ordered to. The contract I signed to fight on Bellum's behalf puts me under no authority other than my own. I may work with you but I'm by no means subordinate to you." Vesa's mouth fell open. Kyran could almost hear his thoughts. 'How dare this nobody speak back to a Templar!' Erebus cackled inside Kyran's skull. The mischievous shadow demon enjoyed these games. Templar Horus beckoned a page forth. The young boy listened to the whispered instructions before disappearing. "Forgive me as I check the validity of your statement." Horus said politely. Kyran spread his arms. "By all means."

The page returned quickly, bearing a scroll. The three leaders of this section of the Bellum army inspected it closely. Archpriest Filory bit her lip in anger. Archpriest Thrash hit the table, whispering something to the templar. Horus held a hand out to each of them, silencing their protests. "It seems you are correct. Forgive the presumption that you were under our command." Kyran bowed slightly at the waist. "There is nothing to forgive, Templar Horus. It is an understandable assumption to make when leading an army." The templar gave him a thin smile. So Horus wasn't happy either. The slayer watched Horus eye Vesa. So the templar's ire wasn't with Kyran then. "If you don't mind, Templar, Archpriests, I'll start this conflict. Pergrande is entrenched on their side of the field. Seems a waste of lives if more than I were to attack." He didn't wait to hear their protests as he left the tent.

With his enhanced eyes, Kyran had spotted an out of place forward base. He decided to launch his attack there. His preparations didn't take long either. He wanted to go in light and fast. Take out those he could before bringing in the big guns. Wind gathered about him. Wings of wind appeared at his back. Green magic swirled about his feet. White light gathered at his left arm, forming into a large clock face. Straps kept the clock on his arm. Kyran triggered both of the shield's abilities. The wind around him appeared to freeze. A thin nimbus formed itself around his body. He paused for a moment debating. Then a black light grew from his right hand. A dagger solidified from the light. The blade of the dagger resembled that of a saw. A black miasma dripped from the weapon. Kyran felt the magic swirl through him.

Post by Kyran 10th March 2021, 10:57 pm

Kyran sprinted, pulling on all of his speed. The soldiers of Pergrande spotted him rather quickly and each lined up to shoot. He wasn't quite in range yet. Kyran's face split in a cocky grin as he slipped from time. Remph's Buckler had a unique ability. It allowed him to briefly step from the timestream. If he focused hard enough, he could maintain it for a distance. The ability had taken a while to get used to. The training to use it properly had been brutal. Now he put it to good use. The redhead reappeared behind their prepared lines. His dagger sunk three, four times into the first victim. Dead upon arrival. He grimaced, knowing it was only the first casualty.

Yanking the blade from the body, Kyran triggered it second ability. The blade split, hungrily seeking lives. Surprisingly, only the two to either side of his first victim died outright. The others were left with gaping holes, their lifeblood leaking onto the snow. The sight made Kyran sick. This wasn't what he wanted. Fights like this were an affront to nature, a blight upon life itself. It should be about strength, about fun. The slayer silently raised two fingers. The soldiers had recovered from their shock. Screams were beginning to form. He silenced them with razor wind, eliminating the remainder of the squad.

The crunch of snow behind him warned of reinforcements. Kyran sighed, steeling himself for the remainder of the fight. No matter what, lives would be lost today. He could only speed them on their way. Turning, he hunkered down behind his buckler. Leading this new group was a hooded woman. Her outfit looked strange, out of place with the other formal wear. That made her either dangerous or eccentric. Possibly both if his luck was bad. Pergrande people gave no indication of magical power - go figure. Kyran had no way to gauge her power. As much as he wanted to find out gradually, this wasn't a fight for fun. They were here to kill. Kyran unleashed another attack. Keys formed around him, each a dark green flecked with black. They streaked forward, honing in on their prey.

The soldiers fell silently. Their bodies flopped into the snow, done in by the keys of Immortality. The slayer stared in astonishment as the odd looking one merely shrugged the attack off. No damage. Not a hint of ever being touched by the spell. He squinted at the gleaming plats hidden under the odd outfit. Then the Pergrande soldier was next to him. His shield was knocked aside. Twin blasts struck his chest. Cracks erupted across the aura shield Kyran had in place. A kick slammed into his gut. His aura shattered. The woman was moving faster than he could manage. His eyes could only barely keep up. His body flew backwards from the force of the kick. The redhead tumbled, cutting deep rivets into the snow. He clenched Azrael's Dagger tightly to avoid losing it.

Kyran climbed to his feet, fifty meters from the Pergrande Forward Operating Base. He spit blood to the side and laughed. "If only we hadn't met on the battlefield. I would have liked to fight you again." He said, dropping into a ready stance. The woman cracked her neck and beckoned him forward. Fool. Black light sheathed his body and hardened into armor. A void opened behind Kyran's head. Maybe a little foolish with Pergrande but he thought it was a good idea. Another aura formed around his body. This woman was dangerous. Enough so that he felt he needed every bit of protection he could get. "Let's dance"

Fighting For Family Empty Re: Fighting For Family

Post by Kyran 12th March 2021, 10:58 pm

Kyran decided not to take chances. He slipped out of time to close the distance. The strange looking Pergrande soldier had shown remarkable speed. While Kyran could attain that speed, he'd chew through his mana pool attempting to do so. He reappeared behind the woman. Auras snapped back into place. Shields up as they might say. His hand flashed forward with the dagger. It barely sank into the woman's back. His eyes narrowed, taking in the strange armor plates. Those seemed to be responsible for the ineffective attacks of his. The woman turned toward him slowly. At least slowly in his opinion. Her speed thing had worn off.

The redhead noticed the weapons shaking on the ground. Bodies were shaking too. Whoever this woman was, she was able to effect quite the range. Kyran let loose with his magic. Remembering her nullification earlier, he hit with his weakest spell first. Blades of wind slammed into the female. Once again, the spell vanished entirely. Dark green keys came next. The shaking objects were rising fast. He didn't have much time. The keys connected, surprisingly. They sank into the woman, turning. Her mouth opened in a small 'oh'. As the keys turned, blood spilled from her mouth. Kyran turned away. The oversaturation of terror could never be a pretty sight. The bodies and weapons had stopped at least.

The Bellum soldiers roared in victory. Kyran felt them rushing forward. The wind from their passage tempted his slayer appetite. His stomach turned from the upcoming bloodshed. Magic crackled as the two sides came within firing distance. A thick copper smell, screams and death soon filled the air. Vesa appeared next to him. His brother in law's face was somehow both bloodless and red with rage. "What are you doing, maggot?! You're paid to fight, not slack! They're slaughtering us! Kill them already!" The redhead hardly believed this idiot. Slowly, he turned. "You believe I'd change anything? I've already wiped out their general. At least I assume that's what she is. Deal with the rest yourself."

Vesa grabbed Kyran's arm. The redhead growled low in his throat. With the fighting over, the demons slithered into his chaotic thoughts. This impertinent twerp should die. Now. He'll continue to ruin our fun in the future otherwise. Show him the power. Let him drown in our battle lust. Die. Kill. Kill. Die. Destroy him. Erebos', Malinda's and Ahriman's voices overlapped each other in their frenzy to speak. Kyran had serious temptation to listen to them. Vesa had been a thorn in his side, one that kept popping up. However, this pain in the neck was Gaia's brother. Killing him would have effects on his marriage. There was one solution he could think of.

Kyran cold cocked his brother in law. Vesa ate a mouthful of Remph's Buckler. As before when Kyran had hit him, Vesa went down hard. A second punch knocked the bastard out. He looked out over the battlefield. It looked bad. Gunfire cut through mage robes. The Bellum knights were still advancing but Kyran could see several plate covered corpses. The redhead hated to admit Vesa was right. Bellum's advance hadn't taken into account Pergrande's firepower. Rubbing his forehead, Kyran teleported closer. He swung his dagger, the blade splitting. Pergrande's soldier's died. Kyran focused on the weaker opponents. The stronger ones could be left for Bellum to gang up on. Where he walked, death followed.

it didn't take long for the battlefield to fall silent. White birds with teeth circled high above. Carrion waiting to feed. Kyran knelt, feeling his heart in his throat. War was ugly. The aftermath even more so. Soldiers were being carried off the field. Pergrande survivors were being slaughtered. He watched a Bellum mage fry a Pergrande soldier pleading for her life. A Bellum knight skewered another one repeatedly, a sick grin on her face. This was wrong. Even if they were enemies, they were still people. Kyran surged to his feet. "Enough! Stop!" He screamed. No one even turned his way. Fine. It was earlier than he wanted but Kyran had a trick up his sleeve.

The redhead pulled a sheet of paper from his trench coat. Taking some of the blood smeared on his hands, Kyran quickly scrawled symbols on the page. When he finished, the slayer threw the page forward. It floated in the air as it responded to his magic. "Forces of Chaos, Infernal Armies, Abyssal Enemies. Accept this offering of death, of carnage, of destruction. Unleash your hordes upon this frozen tundra, Open the gates of your blazing prison. Let a Hell Mouth be established here for the period of eight hours." He said, carefully phrasing the spell. The symbols he'd drawn flared to life. Kyran would have smiled if it was over. Instead he pulled out another sheet of paper. Pre drawn symbols adorned the page. Opening a hell mouth would unleash a plague of demons. This spell should hold them at bay. At least long enough for him to try and retrieve Annabelle. The page went to float next to the other after Kyran dropped blood onto it. Soldiers were noticing. A few shouts came for him to cease. "Shield of Purity, take this anger, this violence, this dark passion. Let it fuel your light. Shine upon this destination and stop all evil from passing."

Blood swirled upon the field. The soldiers' cries to cease turned to cries of terror. Kyran watched the great red wave rise. The snow left behind gleamed white. Corpses turned into desiccated husks within seconds. The redhead winced at the unintended side effect. Families weren't going to be happy with him. The tidal surge of blood streamed to the first page. Light burst from the second page. The redhead turned his face away. Soldiers who didn't fell to their knees, hands over their eyes. The blood rotated around the first page, picking up speed. Fire erupted at the center, burning through the page. As Kyran turned back towards the pages, a portal rimmed with fire had opened up. A thin nimbus of light covered the entrance. Several twisted shapes pushed against the light shield. Kyran held his breath. When the shield didn't break, he let it out slowly. So the demons wouldn't be getting through.

Soldiers were rapidly coming out of their scared poses. Except those that had been blinded by the light burst, they all began converging on Kyran's position. Archpriests Filory and Thrash led the group. Templar Horus seemed to have vanished. Either that or this wasn't worth his time. Kyran stood at the ready, unsure as to what might happen. The Archpriests each had a few clerics with them. "Mercenary Dyer?" Archpriest Filory asked in a sweet tone. Kyran could hear the steel in her tone. "Would you care to explain the meaning of this?" The redhead smiled with a fire of his own. A barest shake of his head answered the Archpriest. Both of them raised their staffs. The clerics behind them formed a shield wall before the redhead. Kyran bared his teeth at them.

"Do you think I unleashed even a fraction of my power, Archpriests? I haven't even shown you what I can do? Not to mention, if I wanted, you could be written off as casualties of war." Kyran said slowly. The archpriests looked at each other. "Can you take me on as well, Mercenary Dyer?" A voice said from behind him. Templar Horus had appeared it seemed. The redhead felt the chill of power run from the Templar. "I can if I must." Kyran replied. He pointed at the Hell Mouth. "This is my only chance to find my daughter. My asshole of a brother trapped her down there to punish me. I. Will. Not. Let. You. Stop. Me. I took this route to avoid slaughtering innocents but I will kill you all to get to her."

A mailed hand clapped his shoulder. "A man is nothing without his family. One willing to fight and die for their family is to be treasured." Templar Horus came to stand next to Kyran. He waved a hand at the rest of the Bellum soldiers. "Back off, unless you intend to join him on his journey into Hell." They all hurried to remove themselves from the area. Templar Horus turned to Kyran. "Maybe ask permission next time. We'll move on to the next engagement." Kyran nodded, glancing toward the battlefield. Templar Horus followed his gaze. "We'll be taking P.O.W.s. The killing wasn't sanctioned and those soldiers will be reprimanded. I wish you luck." With that the templar walked away. Kyran scratched his head wondering if he'd dodged a bullet or bit one.

Post by Kyran 13th March 2021, 10:21 pm

Unfortunately, things couldn't go smoothly for Kyran. He'd created the Hell Mouth, gotten the runaway violence to calm and was ready to enter. Then he heard the screams. His fingers pinched the bridge of his nose. It never ended. Every time he reached for something he wanted, someone or something had to happen along. Templar Horus had left behind a small remnant of his army. The only reason they'd be screaming was if they were under attack. Again. The redhead turned slowly to face the Bellum contingent. A small group of Pergrande soldiers had ambushed them. Kyran growled softly. Why couldn't he leave things well enough alone?

It didn't look like a large force. Twelve enemies all together best he could count. They'd snuck the grunts in close to open fire. The stronger units sat on a ridge to cover the grunts. Bellum mages and knights were falling dead all over the place. Already half of the contingent lay in pools of their own blood. Kyran assessed the best approach. The Pergrande forces had completely ignored his presence. Either they had marked him as insane or not worth their time. The glowing portal couldn't have escaped their notice. Their mistake.

Let them die. Strength is all that matters. Let most of them die and save them near the end. Let the survivors worship you as you crush those insects. Make it a game. Those that win can live. ALL DIE! ALL SACRIFICED FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! Each of the demons seemed to have their own opinions then. Kyran had learned long ago that listening to them was a bad idea. Best to do the opposite then.

The redhead charged the line of grunts. Their guns didn't turn toward him until they realized what he was doing. He flashed them a grin. Magic swirled around him as he slipped from time. The redhead reappeared behind the line. Shots slammed into his back, quickly dissipating his shield. Not much time. Wind shot towards the grunts. Green magic cut them to ribbons. Kyran double checked they were all dead. Then he stepped backwards, letting the magic take him once more. He reappeared behind the stronger soldiers. Azreal's dagger erupted. Serrated metal cut through their armor. Kyran ensured their demise with a shot of Immortality Keys. Better safe then sorry.

The redhead hooked the dagger into his belt. That should be enough of the Pergrande for a while. Templar Horus would keep them busy. Hopefully. He took his time walking back to the Bellum soldiers. Healing wasn't something he was adept at. Not to mention, he might have been slightly peeved by the delay in his trip to the Underworld. Hell. Whatever dimension Annabelle had been trapped away in. It might have been that making him take his time. He had a few questions for the Bellum people. Kyran stopped by one of the survivors. Bullets had torn through his leg. Most of the Bellum soldiers had some sort of bullet wound. "Did Templar Horus give you a reason to stay? Other than a rearguard? Those Pergrande soldiers seemed hellbent on eliminating you." The soldier frowned at the various implications on Kyran's statement. So troubling, the soldier sealed his mouth. Kyran smiled politely.

A female soldier was clutching one of the corpses. Silent tears were coursing down her face. He moved to kneel by her side. "Brother, lover or good friend?" Kyran asked carefully. The woman looked at him. Her eyes were red from her silent crying. "Lover. Andre. I should have known this would happen. It's your fault. You gave him the excuse he needed." She said, slowly getting louder. Kyran bowed his head in apology. She'd given him the information he needed. Templar Horus or Archpriest Thrash had left them here on purpose then alerted a squad of Pergrande to eliminate them. Kyran was supposed to be through the Hell Mouth when they arrived. "I promise, I'll get to the bottom of this. After I rescue my daughter." The look in the woman's eyes made the redhead believe she'd hold him to that promise.

Kyran took a deep breath and stood up. It was time for him to enter the Underworld. Hell. Whatever dimension it was. The redhead glanced back toward the soldiers as he stood before the Hell Mouth. He'd get them justice one way or another. Turning to face the Hell Mouth, Kyran grinned. "Here goes nothing."
