It had been two weeks since Leon started therapy, and things were already looking good for him. Although there were many exercises they had done and several techniques the therapist employed, it seemed as if just talking about his trauma and unraveling what he had been suppressing all this time was helping him a lot. He was officially diagnosed with PTSD in one of their very first sessions, and like all disorders, they didn't simply "go away" just after confronting it.
Leon didn't avoid sleeping anymore, but he still had pretty bad insomnia, and when he did sleep, he had always faced that same scene in the mountains over and over again. Sometimes he was able to keep himself from screaming by quickly convincing himself that none of it was real and that he was safe, but that wasn't enough to keep him from reacting violently each time. Needless to say, he had a hard time separating from Percy at night during the few times he managed to get tired enough to sleep. Not only that, but he still had a hard time being in and near places that were even remotely clinical. He also had to avoid particularly flashy videos on UTube because they were "triggers" or something, according to his therapist. All he really understood was that he went to a really dark place whenever we saw explosions or violence... or blood.
But it wasn't all bad. Leon stopped drinking the very next day after their most recent incident, and he was at least quickly returning back to his usual self. There was always bouts of depression or discomfort, but it at least felt a little like himself. That and he was able to look at his arm now... he was even able to feed himself with it. It didn't seem like much, but just being able to acknowledge that it was there and that it was there for him was something he couldn't do until recently. It was sort of embarrassing, so he tried not to get too happy about things like picking up a spoon or opening a door with his metal arm while Percy was around. Something about Percy watching just made him feel... really embarrassed!
It was about a quarter till noon that day, and despite his mind being quite muddled lately, Leon still felt as if he hadn't quite made it up to Percy for hurting him, and today was... Valentine's Day. Leon hadn't really given much thought to the holiday before, since he had little to no interest in romance and he didn't reciprocate feelings easily until now. Now that he was with Percy, it seemed better late than never to get on this whole Valentine-train. Still, he wasn't really sure how to go about it... he didn't really find this particularly romantic.
"Percy!" Leon called out, coming downstairs from Percy's bedroom in a teeshirt and sweats, "Where you at?"
