Description:
This legendary blade comes from an old fairy tale told in Bellum. Once upon a time, there were a pair of sisters raised within the same town. One of the sisters, a beautiful woman with flowing golden locks, was the pride of the village. She seemed to master all things she could get her hands on, made friends with everyone she met, and was genuinely a kind and refreshing person to be around. The other sister was often overlooked, her opportunities taken away by the other sister’s glory. The golden child treated her sister with kindness and warmth, ignorant of the fact that her sister was being overlooked and her potential ignored. It wasn’t until one day when the other sister went out to search for firewood in the woods that things changed. She stumbled into a cave and during her attempts to escape, came upon a sword embedded in the stone. It was a blade forged of obsidian and glowed with an eerie, otherworldly power. The forgotten sister took it up and upon wrapping her hands around it, was blessed with magical power.
With new potential realized, she returned to the village to show off her discovery and her new power. But rather than being greeted with awe and amazement, she was called a witch and a cursed creature. Her own father and mother shunned her, demanding she leave the village immediately. The golden child ran after her sister and begged her to throw away the sword, so they could return to the way they were. But now the forgotten sister saw the villagers for the mistrusting, close-minded people they were. She dismissed any attempts from her sister to return and instead severed her ties to the village, swearing to become greater than any of them, including the golden child.
The story is often referred to as an allegory for the history between Bellum and Pergrande.
