Aristeo found himself once again in a new town. This was nothing new for him, in fact this was just another day in his life on the road. Having grown up traveling with his parent's merchant caravan, Teo had rarely spent more than a handful of nights in the same place before. But this was different, this time he was here to stay, or rather he was here to join the famous guild that called this town home: Sabertooth.
Teo didn't know much about Sabertooth, in fact he didn't know much about guilds, or even magic really. Despite being 20 years old already, he had only been practicing magic for a little over a year now. This being the case, he thought it best to find some fellow mages who he might learn from and he set out from his parent's caravan to join a guild.
In all honesty, the only reason that Teo decided to join Sabertooth was because their hometown, the Ace of Spades, was nearby when he parted ways with the caravan. However, even in his short travels to the city, every person that he had met along the way had told stories about Sabertooth that made his heart sing, and his blood race with anticipation. This guild, he thought to himself, is one that I would be proud to be a part of.
Upon arriving at Ace of Spades earlier that morning, Teo had spent his time wandering around the town, reveling in the sensation of being in a new place. He so loved exploring and seeing new sights, hearing new sounds, meeting new people! But it was about time that he made his way to the guild he decided. And after inquiring around of some friendly townsfolk, he made his way to a sturdy and welcoming looking building called the Red Dragon Inn.
Teo smiled at the entrance, this is where my new chapter begins, he thought to himself. Upon entering the inn, he immediately made his way to an incredibly well kept and well stocked bar. There were a scant few other people inside at the time, but being the middle of the afternoon rather than mealtime, most other people were out and about. After Teo took a seat at the bar, the bartender approached him, "What can I get for you?" he asked Teo.
"I'll have a whiskey, neat. Please. Thank you," Teo responded easily.
The bartender turned and selected a clean tumbler from the rack, then grabbed a bottle half-full of a delightfully deep golden-brown colored liquid and poured it into the tumbler. Returning to Teo, he handed him the glass and Teo provided some money in return.
"Sir, if you have a moment, could you tell me where I might find a member of the Sabertooth guild? Or how I can join?" Teo asked before the man had a chance to walk away.
"Ah, looking to join Sabertooth are you?" the bartender responded, grinning immediately. "Not to worry, guild members come by here often so I'm sure you won't be waiting long. Let me know if you need anything else while you wait."
"Thank you!" Teo said, smiling back. With his newfound knowledge and reassurance that he would find what he was looking for soon, Teo relaxed in his chair at the bar and sipped on the whiskey that he had bought. Its flavor was complex and woody, with a hint of sweetness to it, and it had a refreshing burn on the way down. Teo smiled again, finished his drink, then ordered another one to sip on while he settled in to wait.
