Curiosity had been brimming along the young azure-haired boy as he wandered the courtyard, finally off duty for the rest of the day. Most of the time he'd just spend his time off either within headquarters itself, learning whatever he could as long as it kept him away from people. Yes, he was still scared of hurting them. Even with the pills Vera had made for him, suppressing the toxicity of his blood for a good few hours. It allowed him to venture outside, actually go out for patrols and missions with his fellow Rune Knights, rather than being given solitary missions or patrols in areas neigh-inhabited by others. Yet for once, he didn't want to do any of that. An urge had bubbled in his stomach--- it had been over a year since he'd joined the Rune Knights, but the antidote had only been made during the changing of the year, and perfected months after. He'd never seen nor felt the joy that was Christmas. Not now, nor before.

This time however, he had the chance. To see. To feel. To participate in the entire happening rather than to watch from a distance. And so he would. One of the older soldiers had given him some hand-me-downs once belonging to his son, saying he grew out of them too quickly for the boy to wear it. Yet it was obvious the clothes were brand-new, and of current fashion. Well, obvious to any onlooker, that was; Albafica had little idea and just perceived it as a gift he gladly accepted. Unbeknowst that he was being accepted already, while he still thought otherwise. Right now, as he was making his way to the gates with a steady thread, all dressed up in his gifted outfit; white shirt and grey blazer, beige jacket, and brown pants, with a ditto-colored scarf to fight off the nip in the air. He couldn't help but smile, excitement sparkling in his eyes as he gazed upon the colorful lighting Era was basking in. The bustling crowds resonating around him, and the slightest drizzle of melting snow accompanying him as he mingled with the masses, letting his senses take him wherever they wanted. All he could do was gawk at the lights, the games and events taking place, the many trinkets displayed in stalls across the streets, the scent of hearty food demanding his nose to follow, and on every corner massive firs, both decorated and bland alike. And in front of the largest one in the center of the square, Albafica just stopped and stared, taking in the majesty of the tree, realising how it made him feel strange inside. Had he been missing out on all of this?

Aurora’s just finished her shift. She left the headquarters of the Rune Knights behind and found herself on the decorated streets of Era. It was Christmas time, and the citizens had turned their houses and streets into a winter wonderland. Colourful strips of lacrima lights embellished houses. The city counted at least twice as many trees as it normally did; all coniferous trees and a lot of those were decorated if not only with lacrima lights. The transformation did not happen during Aurora’s shift. It had been a long process. Some started decorating their house just after Halloween, and the closer the days became towards Christmas, the more households followed. Aurora did not care for that tradition. Even thoughts celebrating Christmas was still a tradition in her original time. Aurora was a person relied foremost on rational thinking, feelings are irrational, and to her celebrating an ancient tradition for the sake of celebrating it whilst not believing in it did not make sense. Others would disagree, that it is about unity, fun and being together. But Aurora that argument had little to stand on when you could do that any day of the year if you want too and do not need a special day for it. But she was curious to see how things have changed.

It snowed a little, but Aurora dressed as if it was summer. Aurora dressed in a white shirt, blue jeans, and a black leather jacket. Her loose hanging blonde hair framed her face. Brown eyes looked sharply into the world. She wore heavy black leather combat boots on her feet, each step she took she thombed and turned the little layer of snow in grizzly blubber. There were market stalls everywhere, and braziers allowed people to warm themselves. Kids used the braziers to warm up sausages, marshmallows or bake little breads on sticks under the watchful eyes of adults. It seemed as if all of Era, and more, had come out onto the streets. The massive crowd was bustling like a disturbed anthill, everyone was wandering about, participating in activities or eating steaming dishes sold by street vendors. Some of the stalls were selling food, and others were selling stuff, some stalls had activities in which customers could participate.

Even thoughts Aurora did not like to participate, her noise and stomach disagreed. Guided by the smell of food and spices, she ended up in front of a stall selling waffles straight from the iron. Aurora purchased one with cherries and a big tuff of whipped cream. She proceeded to cross the square with her paper plate and her delicious cake, that watered her mouth. But before she could take a bite, it fell from the plate as she bumped into something or someone. She had not entirely registered what happened but looked disappointed at the steaming waffle in a puddle of pink molten snow.
