Somewhere on Mt. Hakobe, there's a trail of footsteps leading up the mountain. Normally, the dents and ditches on this mountain and others like it would fill up with snow just as quickly as they were made, making it hard to retrace your steps and easy to lose your way. But these footsteps were different. With every dent and ditch, a small blue flame burned, creating a trail of blue that wouldn't die out. It'd burn and burn some more, no amount of snow able to even come close to it.
The trail would continue until the flames had finally stopped in front of a large fortress somewhere near the top of the mountain. The air was thin, and it was hard to see too far ahead. It was quiet, nothing but the wind making a sound. The place was a desolate wasteland, where no hope could grow and people were scarce. They were the perfect conditions for Errings Rising, a guild who found solace in these mountains.
He was on fire.
There was a young man standing at the foot of the fortress doors, and he was smothered with blue flames. The palms of his hands were set aflame, the soles of his feet and up to his heel, and so was the nape of his neck. His large, judgemental eyes glowed a turquoise color, and so did his gums when he grinned. He was wearing nothing but dirty and ragged shorts, and every little cut or mark on his legs and torso also glowed in that color. It seemed that no matter where he went, those eerie blue flames dragged behind him. But the flames were nothing in comparison to everything else he had brought with him in his appearance. It was as if most of his outermost skin was... gone. For large patches of his body, he had nothing but rough, purple skin, the seems of that flesh and his healthy skin connected by surgical staples. His lower eyelids, his jaw and all the down his neck, all of his limbs... all of them embraced with flames and eerie all the same.
"Hah... hah..." that man panted, plumes of cold breaths floating from his mouth each time he exhaled. Sweat dripped from his forehead, all the way down his face and evaporated just before it hit the snow. There was this sleep-deprived malice in those wide, attentive turquoise eyes. They were the eyes of someone with conviction, and the grin that came onto his face thereafter was the grin of someone who finally had the means to turn that conviction into action. "Hah... haha!... Pffthaha!" he laughed, running his burned hands up his forehead and down his scalp. His tear ducts were burning, but nothing ran down his cheeks.
The door burst open without warning, a gust of wind and a little smoke rushing inside. Following just behind was that blue-eyed, black-haired man, who had that toothy smirk on his face and left a trail of fire with every step. He took a deep breath, another plume exhaling from his nostrils.
"Finally... I'm here."
