Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 15th December 2020, 11:46 pm

-Silver Wolf Guild Hall, Leona's Room-

Having woken up about five minutes ago, Leona sat on the edge of her bed with her new royal blue iLac sitting to the left of her pillow and sounding its alarm. She was wearing her green tank top and green and white skirt without the bike shorts and was trying to figure out what she should do with her day. She really needed to study for her GED test, but the blonde was bored and in no mood to study... she was looking for adventure instead. The blonde mentally ran down a list of clients who ordinarily contacted her with job opportunities.

There was nothing in Desierto that needed doing because Chief Joshua had not sent a message her way.

Crocus Magicka University had not sent any messages to her recently, so they were out as well.

Mister Burke either did not need her services or had found someone else to work for him, so she had not heard from him either.

Deciding that the best course of action was to simply find an adventure, Leona stood up and began to rummage around in her desk drawer for a map of Earthland or something. When she found a map she would open it up, pick any country (except Pergrande or Desierto), and go to it to see what she could find. Maybe someone there would have some interesting work like looking for lost ruins or retrieving an artifact from said ruins. Maybe there would even be a mythical beast to hunt and kill.

Leona rummaged through her desk drawer and did not find a map, but instead she found a large, bulky black watch that was called the IIC, or Infinite Improbability Chronometer. She had picked it up several months ago but had never used it because there were plenty of other adventures to go on. Now the Wizard Saint was looking to use it in order to make her day more interesting. Leona found a small instruction booklet behind the face of it and pulled it out, then began to read it carefully before using the device.

According to the instructions, to use it to teleport to her very own space station all she needed to do was wind the watch exactly forty-two times. If she wanted to return to Silver Wolf Guild Hall, all she had to do was ask the watch "What's the ultimate question?" and she would be returned to her room. Those instructions were so simple that even Leona could not mess them up... she hoped. Having memorized the simple instructions she set them aside on her desk, closed the desk drawer in which she had found the IIC, and looked at it with the intent to wind it up.

But before she went into the unknown, Leona chose to gear up. She grabbed her backpack of supplies that included food and spare clothing, she grabbed her Silver Longsword to deal with both mundane threats and ghosts and secured its belt around her waist, and she put on some socks and her green and white boots so that she was somewhat properly dressed. She then grabbed her Argent Gloves from her desk and put them on. Now that Leona was geared up she grabbed the IIC and began to wind the watch, mentally counting each winding until she had reached the number 42.

Once she had reached that exact number of windings Leona felt her body get lighter and she lifted off of her feet. Moments later she had left Silver Wolf Guild Hall to boldly go where no lioness had gone before.

    -On board the space station-

Leona reappeared in a bright white corridor with clean floors and clean walls with the occasional display panel with slowly flashing lights. She had expected the space station to be colder, but to her surprise it was climate-controlled and warm enough to be comfortable without being unbearable. Leona wondered how that had been accomplished, but of greater interest was the long rectangular window to her right, which opened out onto a beautiful view of outer space. It was a canvas of black with numerous twinkling stars and a partial view of a planet below. Leona had never seen anything like this before. She walked over to it and carefully looked out on her first view of outer space, going on her tiptoes to see as much of the planet below as she could.

Suddenly Leona felt her hair rapidly lengthen to waist length and saw it in her reflection in the space station window. She stopped to admire it for a moment. While long hair would be a liability in the kind of close-quarters fighting she frequently engaged in, Leona found her newly lengthened hair to be oddly appealing. She looked it over for a minute or two and saw it began to contract as quickly as it had lengthened, making the Wizard Saint a bit sad that her hair was now back to its normal length.

Leona shrugged her shoulders and turned away from the window, then walked slowly down the corridor while listening to the mechanical hum of machinery and looking for any other signs of life. She was not sure what she had expected from outer space, but she had expected to see more life on this station, even if it was hostile life. Leona took a deep breath and continued walking down the corridor as she embarked on her very first space adventure.

The Wizard Saint hung onto the IIC in her left hand in case she needed to make a quick retreat from the space station. It was also her only way out of here because she had no idea where the space station was in relation to Earthland and Leona did not want to go to the planet below only to find that it was inhospitable to life. Leona would just stay here and learn everything she could about the space station she found herself on.

Maybe she could find some technology to take back to Silver Wolf Guild Hall for study and possible reproduction. Maybe she could find a powerful high-tech weapon or some sturdy futuristic armor to take back. If she were really lucky she could find something truly revolutionary in this space station.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 17th December 2020, 1:35 am

Leona walked down the lengthy corridor and felt the climate-controlled air blow on her arms and shoulders. It was warm enough to be comfortable, but the Wizard Saint was feeling a little exposed by wearing a tank top instead of her normal outfit top, which was in her backpack in case she needed to switch outfits. She looked around for any signs of life but had not yet found any. Maybe the space station really was an abandoned one, but it was far too clean, well-lit, and operable to be an abandoned space station. Leona had expected something derelict, something that looked like it was on the verge of falling apart inside and out.

She was glad that it was not falling apart because she liked breathing clean and safe air and walking on floors that were sturdy and safe, but something about such a clean and functioning space station was a little off-putting. It was almost like her arrival had been expected, but that was Leona's paranoia talking. If she wanted answers she would have to find the command center of the space station. There had to be something there like logs made by the station's commander, security footage from the cameras, something to give Leona clues as to why the station was in the state it was.

Leona decided to check behind a door that she saw at the end of the hallway she was in. Walking through the hall while stealing glances through the window that looked out onto space, the Wizard Saint approached a metal door that lifted straight up, letting her gaze into a room filled with computer monitors and operating stations. Leona had never seen so much electronic equipment in one place, but she could not let herself be dazzled by the glowing monitors and blinking lights. She had a mystery to solve.

    -Inside the command center-

Leona walked into what she assumed to be the command center and walked into a large room filled with wall-to-wall computer stations with smaller individual monitors and three large viewscreens that dominated the left, central, and right walls. She looked around the room and found no one manning the consoles. Leona had no idea what the consoles did, so she decided to leave them alone before she did something stupid like activate the station's self-destruct sequence or activate any automated defense systems the station may have possessed. She looked around the command center for anything that could help her exploration like a station map, a keycard, a piece of armor, or even a weapon.

The blonde looked all around the operating stations and did not find anything of interest. In fact she found nothing at all. No notes written on paper by a forgetful staff member, no weapons left lying around, no keycards, nothing. Leona was at a loss as to what to do next. She wanted to check the computer viewscreens for clues, but she did not know how to operate the computers and did not want to cause one of the aforementioned catastrophes with a press of the wrong button, so Leona decided to look for either someone who could operate the computers or to find a low-tech solution to her current problem.

Leona looked around the room again and noticed a small door on the right side of the room. Maybe that was the station commander's office. Having no other real options, Leona decided to venture into it and see what was inside. She walked towards the door and found that like the door to the command center it opened with no resistance whatsoever.

    -Inside the room-

Leona entered the room to find a window facing space that had a shutter above it, a large metallic desk in front of the window with a computer monitor and keyboard on top, a rolling chair with an uncovered control panel on the right armrest, and a bed against the far left wall. In front of the bed on the left wall was a tall bookcase that had both books and three-ring binders in it. She doubted that she would get that lucky, but maybe one of the numerous books or binders had some information on the station's layout. Leona walked over to the bookshelf and began to examine its contents.

The Wizard Saint saw a lot of old-fashioned paper books, which clashed with her ideas on what would be on board a space station. She expected more advanced equivalents of modern tablets to be the norm, but maybe she had stumbled into the office of someone who was a fan of old-fashioned books. Maybe high-tech equivalents of tablets and iLacs were the norm and she had just found the one person who liked old forms of media. Leona set that thought aside and began her search for something pertaining to the space station like a map or some schematics. She did not expect such information to be freely accessible, but from the looks of things she was on a civilian space station, not a military installation.

Leona was looking through the room when she spotted a blue keycard on the middle shelf and picked it up. She halfway expected someone to come into the office or an automated defense system to activate the moment her fingers touched the card, but neither of those unfortunate occurences happened. The Wizard Saint shrugged and walked out of the office and back into the command center. She walked through it and back to the hallway she had started out in.

    -Back in the hallway-

Now possessing a blue keycard that would likely unlock a door somewhere in the space station, Leona calmly walked through the hallway while looking around the area for anyone who might have arrived on the space station after she had gotten here or for station security to try and stop her before she got too far with the borrowed keycard. So far she had seen no one, so she kept walking at a leisurely pace while looking out the viewport to her left. The sight of outer space was a beautiful one... she wondered if her mother or brother would ever believe her if Leona told them about this adventure.

Leona reached the end of the hallway and looked above a metallic door to find a rectangular flashing sign that read LOCKED in red letters. The Wizard Saint looked around the door for a card reader and found one to the right. Leona approached it, placed the keycard inside with the magnetic strip facing down, and a high-pitched BEEEEEEP was heard. Leona looked at the sign above the door and now the sign read UNLOCKED.

Leona pulled the keycard out of the reader and took the time to put it away in her backpack so that she could carry the IIC and have a hand free to draw her sword or use magic if she needed to. She then walked through the open door and found herself in an elevator.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 25th December 2020, 1:37 am

    -On the elevator-

Leona stepped onto the elevator and immediately noticed that it was much larger than the elevators back on Eartihland. It was big enough to accommodate at least thirty people, if not more. There was also a large viewscreen like those back in the command center on the back wall, but it was blank. She looked for a control panel and found it to the right of the door, which had already closed. Leona walked towards the control panel and began to look for a DOWN button to press when the elevator came to life of its own accord, descending so rapidly that Leona staggered backwards.

Leona stood upright and did her best to remain on her feet as the elevator descended. After a minute or two it jolted to a stop and threw the blonde face-first onto the ground. The hapless blonde lay there for a moment as the door slid open. She rolled over and got up, ignoring the pain shooting through her face as she walked through the open door and into another hallway.

    -In the hallway-

Leona walked out of the elevator and heard the hiss as the door sealed behind her. She looked forward and saw a lengthy hallway exactly like the one she had appeared in when she boarded the space station. At the end of the hallway was another metallic door like the one that led to the command center. With nowhere else to go but forward, Leona pressed on while stealing the occasional glance at space and marveling at the view. After a few minutes of walking Leona stood at the door.

She was not sure what was on the other side, so she took a deep breath to prepare herself for a possible fight. Leona prepared herself and walked through the door into a large room with a lot of computer equipment and three viewscreens just like those in the first command center she had visited.

    -In the next room-

Leona entered the room to find a lot of computer equipment along the walls and three viewscreens positioned in exactly the same places as those in the first command center. The key difference between the first command center and this one was that the viewscreens were on and showed Leona a picture of someone with blue hair and a blue dress shirt. The figure was reading a book and was not paying Leona any attention as the blonde approached the door on the right of the room. The Wizard Saint got to within arm's reach of the door before the person finally noticed Leona's presence and spoke.

"Oh, hello! I didn't see you in there!" The person greeted the Wizard Saint. Leona wondered how they could have missed a blonde in a green tank top and green, white, and gold skirt moving against a white background. Leona's outfit stood out so much that she had expected to have been spotted by now, but here she was in what looked like a command center around what looked like very important computer equipment.

"I'm Annette Larson and I'm the manager of this station. I know this is kinda sudden, but I... I need your help with something." Annette said to Leona as the latter still faced the door. Leona, seeing that the door would not open, turned away from it and went back to the center of the room. Leona turned towards the central viewscreen and spoke.

"Uh, hi there. Can you hear me?" Leona asked Annette. The blue-haired young woman nodded.

"Yes, I can hear you. By the way, who might you be?" Annette asked Leona.

"I'm Leona Jarnefeldt." Leona answered. She did not bother with her titles because out here they meant nothing. Plain old "Leona" would suffice.

    "Lenora?" Annette asked.

    "Leona." Leona said again.

    "Leena?" Annette asked.

"Leona." Leona repeated again, trying to keep from sounded flustered. This was like dealing with Professor Barnsworth all over again.

"OH, LEONA!" Annette exclaimed when she finally understood the Wizard Saint. Leona nodded.

"Right, Leona, Lee-own-uh. Anyway, I need you to do something for me. You see... I kinda locked myself in the office a short distance away from you." Annette said. Leona blinked.

"Anyway, you wouldn't have happened to have picked up a blue keycard, now would you?" The young woman asked the blonde.

"I did, actually." Leona replied in the affirmative. Annette's face lit up.

"Really? Great! Now just walk over to the door and place the keycard in the key reader." Annette instructed Leona. The blonde dug in her backpack and found the blue keycard. She took it into her right hand and then gently pushed it into the keycard reader. There was a soft BEEP and the door opened up onto another office exactly like the one on the first floor. Mindful of how Annette had gotten locked in the office, Leona kept her distance and waited for Annette to emerge.

Soon the young woman emerged and Leona saw a young blue-haired woman wearing a blue dress shirt and purple skirt with black dress shoes. The outfit looked like one Leona would see back in Fiore... she had expected something futuristic like a fancy space suit or some kind of futuristic dress. Again Leona's ideas about space were wrong, but she was not too upset. She was learning new things and that was something she was interested in doing.

"Thank the stars you got here when you did! I've been stuck in there for the past eight hours!" Annette thanked Leona for her aid in getting out of the office.

"How exactly did you get locked in there?" Leona asked Annette.

"It's a bit of a story, but the short version is that someone around here cut corners when building the station. There was supposed to be a panel on the other side of the door, but there isn't one. We'll have to fix that soon." Annette explained. Leona blinked.

"I don't mean that we do it! I don't know the first thing about construction or electrical wiring!" Annette quickly explained. Leona breathed a sigh of relief. The Wizard Saint did not need to be building something or working with electrical wiring because she would hurt herself, hurt Annette, or seriously bungle the job and make the station even worse off.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 31st December 2020, 12:29 am

Leona took a moment to understand what she had been told before responding.

"Good. Because I don't know how to do those things either." Leona replied calmly. Leona was a lot of things, but she was not an electrician, a construction worker, or an engineer. As both a member of Silver Wolf and its Guild Mistress, Leona should have been at least one of those things, but she was not. Not yet, anyway. Annette smiled.

"So, how are we gonna deal with the station's problems?" Leona asked Annette. Annette smiled again.

"We'll call some professionals to help us fix up the station. I know some guys who owe me some favors. But first we need to fix the communications relay so that we can call them. The internal communications system works just fine, but the external one's useless until we fix it." Annette answered. Leona frowned. She did not like the sound of that.

"And how do we fix the communications relay?" Leona asked Annette. Her mind was starting to drift towards unpleasant possibilities like having to don a space suit and actually go out into space or having to crawl in tight, narrow spaces with Ishgar knew what crawling around in there. As long as it was not snakes the Wizard Saint could tolerate it.

"We take the elevator down to Communications, then we go from there." Annette said with a smile. She made it sound easy, but the Wizard Saint knew from experience that something that sounded easy usually had an unforeseen complication. However, to get the space station fixed by experts she would have to help Annette with whatever needed to be done.

"OK. I'm ready to go whenever you are, Annette." Leona said to Annette. The blue-haired young woman smiled and walked over to the card reader and pulled the card out, handing it back to Leona. She then walked towards the door that led to the hallway while Leona followed close behind.

    -In the hallway-

The pair walked down the long hallway together with Annette on the left and Leona on the right. Despite having seen the view of outer space numerous times since arriving on this station, Leona could not help but to take another look at it. Annette noticed Leona looking towards outer space and commented.

"Is this your first trip to this station, Leona?" Annette asked the blonde walking to her right. Leona looked towards her and nodded.

"Yes. It's my first trip to this station. I didn't even know it existed until today." Leona replied. Annette looked at Leona with curiosity.

"Where are you from?" The blue-haired young woman asked Leona.

"I'm from a country called Desierto. Like the name implies, the country's a very big desert-" Leona answered truthfully before being interrupted by Annette, who could not believe what she was hearing.

"What? Are you serious? You mean that you actually grew up on a planet with real land, land that you walk on? You didn't grow up on a space station with an artificial environment?" Annette asked Leona with disbelief. Leona nodded.

"Yeah. I grew up on a planet with actual land, not whatever space stations use to simulate land. I've had sand crunch beneath my feet. The wind's blown through my hair. I've even gotten sunburn a few times because I forgot to put on sunscreen." Leona answered the question posed to her and elaborated on what a real environment was like. Annette's disbelief grew by the moment. The young woman had obviously not walked on real land in her life and she could not comprehend what that was like.

"I've never been on real land before. I've read about it, but I've never walked on it." Annette admitted to Leona.

"I've never been on a space station before. I've also never seen outer space like this. I'm a fish out of water." Leona made an admission of her own. Shortly after she said that the pair reached the elevator door, which opened for them without any trouble. The two young women boarded the elevator and the door closed.

    -On the elevator-

Annette wordlessly walked over to the control panel and looked at it for a moment, then pressed a button and the elevator began to descend at a slower pace than it had last time. Leona wondered what the deal was, but then she recalled that Annette had explained that some parts of the station had been made by someone cutting corners. The elevator might have been one of them and that could explain the rapid pace at which it had descended last time, but there was also the possibility that Leona had pressed something that made it go so fast. Both possibilities could be true.

"Hey Annette, I've been meaning to ask you something. Why is this space station so empty?" Leona asked her companion as the elevator moved towards its destination. Annette turned towards Leona and shrugged her shoulders.

"I'm thinking that it's due to the space trading lanes shifting. Months ago this place was bustling, but now it's a ghost town." Annette answered to the best of her ability. Until she found evidence to prove or disprove that hypothesis, Leona would accept that answer.

"Say, Leona, are you afraid of tight spaces?" Annette asked the Wizard Saint. Leona shook her head.

"No. Why?" Leona asked. She had a feeling where this was going, but she would ask anyway.

"You might have to crawl into some tight spaces to help me get the communications system back online." Annette answered. Leona was not particularly upset by that. As far as she knew that she did not have claustrophobia.

"OK. Just tell me where I need to go and guide me through the process of fixing what needs to be fixed." Leona calmly replied. She was no electrician or electronics expert, but with Annette guiding her through the process Leona was sure that she could do a good enough job to get the communications relay going again so that Annette could call the professionals to fix up the station. The elevator jolted to a stop and Leona narrowly avoided falling over on her face for a second time, causing Annette to giggle.

"...You're not used to elevators, are you?" Annette asked Leona in a playful way. Leona nodded.

"Not at all, Annette. I'm used to walking on flat surfaces and climbing up and down ladders." Leona replied. The pair then walked off of the elevator and into the Communications level of the space station.

    -On the Communications level-

Annette led the way while Leona followed her into a hallway that was full of computer screens at eye level showing various pieces of data that Leona could not even begin to understand. On the right side of the hallway was another lengthy viewport displaying outer space. At the end of the hallway was another door that presumably led to another command center, perhaps even the communications control room.

"Up ahead is the communications control room, Leona. There should be an access hatch that'll you'll have to use to get to where you need to go to fix the relay." Annette informed Leona and pointed towards the door. Leona nodded in acknowledgment.

"OK. I don't think I'll be able to shout loud enough for you to hear me. Do you have anything I can use to communicate with you like a headset, walkie-talkie, or something like that?" Leona asked Annette. The blue-haired young woman nodded.

"Yeah, there should be a few headsets in the communications control room. We'll use those to keep in touch since I'm claustrophobic and really don't want to go down there. Someone's also gotta stay in the control room and let you know where to do and what to do." Annette replied in the affirmative. Leona was glad to hear that.

"All right then." Leona replied. She and Annette continued to walk until they reached the door at the end of the hallway. Annette approached and the door opened. Leona followed her through.

    -In the Communications Control Room-

The pair entered a large room much like the first two Leona had been in. There were the same viewscreens and the same banks of computer terminals, but the viewscreens on the left and right sides of the room were showing static. Annette saw that and frowned while crossing her arms.

"Ugh, I just had those viewscreens fixed last year! Someone did a poor job with the repair work!" Annette exclaimed. She set aside her frustration and walked over to a bank of computer terminals beneath the middle viewscreen, then typed in a sequence which must have been an authorization code for accessing the terminal. The computer monitor flashed to life and the station manager began to read the monitor while Leona hung back.

"Great. Just great." Annette said in frustration. Leona turned to her. Whatever the problem was, it must have been worse than Annette had anticipated. She turned to Leona.

"Well Leona, here's the situation. Some of the connections have somehow come undone and I need you to go down there and fix them. If you have any metal objects I suggest that you leave them up here with me. I also suggest that you leave that backpack because you'll be going into some tight spaces where you have to crawl to get where you need to go." Annette suggested to the Wizard Saint. Leona handed Annette the keycard and put the IIC in her backpack so that she would have both hands free, then took off her sword belt and Argent Gloves and handed them to Annette. Annette took them and walked into the office on the right side of the room, then stayed in the room for a few minutes. She then came out with a pair of black headsets and handed one to Leona.

"OK, here are the headsets. They're wireless and all of the controls are on the right earpiece, so we should be able to communicate without any trouble. They're also fully charged and boast a seven-day battery life, so battery life won't be an issue. Here, let's try them out now." Annette suggested to Leona. Leona nodded and put her headset on. She powered it on with a small switch on the back of the right earpiece and adjusted the volume using the down button on the side of the same earpiece, then finally put the microphone at mouth level. Annette followed suit.

"Walk over to the left side of the room." Annette requested before moving her microphone into position. Leona nodded and walked all the way over to the left corner where a door stood, a door with a keypad to its left. Once Leona was in place Annette gave a thumbs-up.

"Hello? Leona, can you hear me?" Annette asked. Leona adjusted the volume a bit so that Annette was not quite so loud, then replied.

"Yes Annette, I can hear you perfectly." Leona replied. The blue-haired young woman gave another thumbs-up.

"OK, now that we've established that our headsets work, you'll need to go into the underground access area. It starts out with plenty of space to move, but to get to what we need you'll have to crawl in some crawlspaces. Fortunately I can bring up a map on the computer terminal so that I can guide you." Annette laid out what Leona needed to do next. Leona nodded and took off her backpack, then handed it to Annette. Annette then took it into the office to join the rest of her gear. She felt naked without her Argent Gloves, Silver Longsword, or backpack on, but she had to do this without her familiar gear. Leona checked her right boot for either Ses Revanche or the knife her brother had made and did not find either... she must have forgotten to grab a knife before she left the guild hall.

"All right, Leona. You're ready to go. I'll open the access hatch for you." Annette said to the Wizard Saint. Annette walked over to the same terminal she had accessed earlier, typed out another access code, tapped on a screen, and opened the hatch.

"OK, the hatch is open. It's just behind that door in the corner. Here, I'll get you in." Annette replied. She walked with Leona to the door and tapped out a sequence of numbers on the keypad next to the door. The door hissed open and showed a small room about the size of the average walk-in closet. Inside and to the left was an open hatch.

"All right, Leona. You'll have to go down the ladder to get to the Communications Maintenance Tunnels. I'll keep in touch and guide you from up here. Good luck!" Annette informed Leona before wishing the blonde luck. Leona gave a thumbs-up and walked into the room, then turned around at the ladder, gripped it, and began to carefully climb down it into the space below.

    -In the Communications Maintenance Tunnels-

Leona got off of the ladder and turned around to find a fairly spacious and well-lit hallway that could accommodate two people walking side-by-side. It was also tall enough where Leona could walk upright. However, it was fairly warm down here, warm enough to make Leona glad that she had chosen to wear a tank top instead of her normal outfit top.

She looked around and noticed several doors in the hallway. There were four to the left, four to the right, and one at the far end of the hallway. She had no idea where to go, so she called Annette for instructions.

"Hey Annette, I'm in the tunnels. Where do I need to start?" Leona asked Annette for instructions on which door to go through first.

Leona listened intently for Annette's instructions as she looked down the gray corridor and scanned the room for anything out of place like an alien or a human intruder who had somehow escaped detection to date. So far she was seeing nothing and she was certainly not detecting any magic-wielding threats. Maybe it was just Leona and Annette on the station and the greatest difficulty the blonde faced was getting stuck in a tight space thanks to her body's proportions. Someone with a large chest and a large backside like she had would have some difficulty getting through tight spaces without at least a little discomfort.

"I need you to go into the first door on your left. It should be marked 01." Annette finally instructed over the headset after a long silence. The voice quality was so good that it was like the blue-haired young woman was standing right behind Leona when she gave instructions. Leona looked at the first door to the left and saw large yellow numerals that read "01" sitting just above the door.

"I see it. I'm going inside now." Leona reported. She walked towards the door and grabbed the handle, pulling it open. It opened without any resistance and the Wizard Saint walked inside the room.

    -Inside Room 01-

"I'm in the room. Now what do I do?" Leona asked Annette.

"OK, you're in Room 01. What do you see?" Annette asked the Wizard Saint. Leona looked forward and saw a room about six meters long ending in a space big enough for her to crawl through on all fours. Just above the opening was a computer panel with a red light and flashing words on the screen.

"I'm looking at a computer panel with a solid red light and flashing words on the screen." Leona reported. She walked towards the computer panel and began to read the flashing words to Annette.

"Let's see. It reads CONNECTION LOST. RECONNECT CABLES. How do I reconnect the cables?" Leona read to Annette.

"Oh, that's easy to fix. A connection somehow came loose, probably because of all the corners cut with the installation. All you have to do is crawl inside the tunnel, power down the unit by pulling a lever at the power box, and then plug the cables back in before turning it back on." Annette informed Leona how to fix the problem in this room. Leona was not the sharpest tool in the shed, but even she could follow those instructions.

"OK, I'm going in." Leona said. She got on all fours and began to crawl into the tunnel. Thankfully it was not nearly as narrow as she was led to believe, which made going through it slow but easy. After a three-minute crawl she emerged on the other end and saw a power box on the right wall and some disconnected cables on the left wall. Recalling her instructions, Leona crawled over to the power box and pulled down the lever on its left. The power in the room shut off and Leona's night vision activated, giving her a perfect view of her surroundings without having to fumble with a flashlight.

Leona slowly turned around and crawled over to the disconnected cables about three meters away from her, then took one of the cables into her right hand and looked at the end of it for any clue where it was supposed to go. She noticed that the end had a red band around it and she looked for a red connection point. She found it to the left of a cable with a yellow band that was still plugged in and put the red cable in the red connection point. Leona scooted over to the right of the yellow cable and noticed that the blue cable had come out as well, so she picked it up and plugged it back into the wall.

The blonde carefully checked her work and made sure that all three cables were securely plugged in, then when she was satisfied that they were secure, she crawled back over to the power box and flipped the lever up, restoring power to the room.

"OK, I'm reading that Room 01's connection has been repaired. Nice work, Leona. Now you'll have to do the same for the other seven rooms before you can repair the main connection in Room 09." Annette informed Leona that there was still much work to be done before the communications relay was completely repaired.

"Understood. Heading for Room 02." Leona replied laconically. She crawled back for the tunnel entrance and stood up once she was at the other end. She then turned around to see the computer panel's light a solid green with no flashing words. It read "CONNECTION ONLINE" in solid white letters.

-Outside Room 04, thirty minutes later-

Leona had repaired the connections in Rooms 02 and 03 by following the same steps she had followed to fix the problem in Room 01. The most time-consuming part of the job was crawling in and out of each tunnel and turning around inside of the room on the other side where everything was located. By her estimate it took about ten minutes to fix the connection in each room. Now she was outside Room 04 and about to enter it to repeat the procedure and fix the connection.

"Is there anything special I need to worry about in Room 04?" Leona asked Annette.

"No, not at all, Leona. It should be a simple fix if you keep doing what you did in the first three rooms." Annette replied. Leona was glad to hear that there were no special dangers waiting for her inside, so all she had to do was fix the connection and she would be halfway through the task. Once the task was complete the space station could communicate with the outside world again.

Leona reached for the door handle and opened the door, then walked inside and shut it behind her.

    -Inside Room 04-

Leona entered the room and saw that its layout was exactly the same as that of the first three rooms, so there were no surprises here. Leona walked up to the panel and saw that it was red with the "CONNECTION LOST. RECONNECT CABLES" text just like the others. It was time to crawl into the tunnel and reconnect the cables. Leona got on her hands and knees and began the crawl through the tunnel.

    -On the other side-

Leona eventually emerged on the other side to find that the situation was largely the same. To the left were disconnected cables and to the right was the power box with the lever used to turn power to the room off so that she could work without getting electrocuted. Leona crawled over to the power box and pulled the lever down, cutting power to the room. She then turned around and crawled towards the cables to get into position to reconnect them.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 3rd January 2021, 2:56 pm

-Fifty minutes later, outside Room 09-

After having shut down the power, reconnected the cables, and turning the power back on in the eight previous rooms, Leona now stood outside Room 09. Once its cables were reconnected the space station would be able to communicate with the outside world again. Annette had been with Leona over the headset every step of the way and the station's manager had been a big help even if she was not in the same room as the Wizard Saint.

"The connections in the previous eight rooms are re-established and operational. Now all you have to do is restore the connection in Room 09 and the communications relay will be up and running." Annette informed Leona of what had to be done to truly finish the job. Leona took a deep breath of warm air before going into the ninth and final room. She was starting to get a bit too warm for comfort, but she had been born and raised in Desierto, so heat was nothing new to her.

"OK, I'm going in now." Leona replied. She grabbed the door handle and pulled it open, then went inside.

    -Inside Room 09-

Leona entered the room and shut the door behind her, then faced forward. This room had the same layout as the ones before it, so she knew what had to be done. Leona walked across the room and got on all fours, then crawled into the tunnel.

    -Inside the tunnel-

The moment she set "foot" in the tunnel Leona noticed that its ceiling was quite a bit lower than those in the previous tunnels. It was just high enough for Leona to get through if she crawled on her stomach. Considering how large her chest was, this was going to be an ordeal. Nonetheless she got as low to the ground as she could.

"Why's the tunnel ceiling so low in Room 09?" Leona asked Annette before she realized what she had said.

"What do you mean?" Annette asked Leona. The blonde frowned. Annette was not the one having to crawl through a low tunnel.

"I mean that the ceiling's so low that I'm having to crawl on my stomach." Leona replied dryly. She was making progress towards her destination, but it was slow going.

"Oh, right! I don't know why that is, Leona, but you may want to move quickly. You don't want to be under all that metal if it collapses." Annette informed Leona. Leona frowned again. To be fair to the station manager, the low tunnel had not been an issue until it had been pointed out to her by the Wizard Saint, so Leona did not make any sarcastic remarks on the matter.

"OK." Leona said dryly as she tried to crawl faster. She hurried up and reached the end of the tunnel, then quickly straightened up to all fours and crawled up to the power box on the right. She pulled the lever down to turn off the power and turned around to go left and reconnect the cables.

Leona hurried to the cables and took a deep breath. She needed to get this right the first time because if the tunnel collapsed after she crawled out there might not be a second opportunity. She carefully looked at each cable and made sure that the color of the band on the cable matched the outlet it was supposed to go into. Leona plugged them in one by one until all three cables were in.

"OK, I've reconnected the cables. I'm about to turn the power back on." Leona informed Annette. Leona crawled back over to the power box, pulled the lever up, and listened for confirmation from Annette before making for the tunnel entrance. Leona listened out for confirmation and soon got it.

"OK, the communication relay's back online. I'm gonna call the professionals to fix up this station. You get out of there!" Annette told Leona. Leona did not need very much encouragement, especially after she heard a loud metallic groan coming from the tunnel she was about to crawl into.

"On the way." Leona replied. She squared her body up with the tunnel entrance, then lowered herself to her stomach and began crawling. This was going to be a race against the clock.

    -Inside the tunnel-

Leona slowly and laboriously crawled through the tunnel while listening to metallic creaks and groans. Something was wrong with the ceiling, but she was not going to be under it when it gave way. Leona kept going while doing her best to ignore the ceiling that was inches from her back.

"I've made contact with the repair team. They should be here in a few hours. How are you doing?" Annette informed Leona that the team had been contacted while the connection was still operational before asking how the blonde was doing. Leona clenched her teeth as she hit her right knee against the wall as she scrambled to get out of the tunnel.

"I'm OK... so far. I'm halfway through the tunnel, but I still have some distance to go before I'm clear." Leona said, picking up the pace and ignoring the sound of her knees striking the walls. Her knees were going to be killing her later. So was her chest. She could live with that pain if if meant avoiding a premature burial in the maintenance tunnel. Leona heard Annette gasp on the other end of the headset.

"Well, you'd better step it up. I'm seeing that there's a serious structural problem. You need to go!" Annette warned the Wizard Saint. Leona kept quiet. The blonde knew that, but Annette was not nearly as used to danger as Leona was, so the blonde kept her mouth shut and kept crawling for all she was worth. She was at the three-quarters mark when the metallic noises got louder.

"THE TUNNEL CEILING'S ABOUT TO COLLAPSE! GET OUT OF THERE!" Annette screamed. Leona somehow dug deep and crawled even faster, reaching the end of the tunnel just as portions of it began collapsing behind her. The Wizard Saint was so close to disaster that she felt metal brush her ankles and calves as she cleared the tunnel just as the mouth caved in. Thankfully her legs had not been crushed by the debris.

"LEONA, ARE YOU OK?! LEONA, ANSWER ME!" Annette called for a response from the Wizard Saint. Leona lay silently on the floor thanking Ishgar for her good fortune. When Annette screamed for a response a second time the blonde answered.

"I'm fine, Annette. I got clear just in time." Leona replied. She heard a sigh of relief on the other end. Leona's chest, elbows, and knees were hurting, but she would live. She just hoped that Room 09's connection would remain intact long enough for the repair team to get here and fix it, hopefully for good.

"OK, that's good. That's really... good. Anyway, come back upstairs whenever you're ready, Leona." Annette told her. It would take a few minutes for Leona to regain her strength to climb the ladder. Crawling through tunnels and re-establishing communications links was deceptively hard work; it was much harder work than the blonde had expected.

-Back in the Communications Control Room, ten minutes later-

Leona had just climbed back up the ladder and had exited the maintenance hatch room when Annette came running into the room. Leona took a step back and was nearly bowled over when Annette hugged her. The blonde's arms were pinned to her sides as Annette hugged her.

"LEONA! You made it! I thought that you had gotten caught in the tunnel collapse!" Annette exclaimed.

"I'm not sure how many lives I have left, but I made it through the collapse without getting hurt." Leona said, making a reference to her name. Annette released Leona and blinked at her. The blue-haired young woman obviously did not get what Leona had meant by her remark.

"OH, right! Leona! Like the lioness!" Annette exclaimed in understanding. Leona nodded. Annette had finally gotten the reference.

"Well, I'm glad you made it. You've been a big, big help. I've already called the repair team and they'll be here in a few hours to assess everything. While they won't be able to fix up the station for free, they owe me some favors, so I can still get the work done at a discount." Annette informed Leona.

"Great. What do we do until then?" Leona asked Annette, taking off her headset for a moment and powering it off. Annette followed suit.

"We'll go back to the station's command center and see if anything else needs fixing." Annette replied. Leona shrugged her shoulders.

"OK, why not?" Leona asked a rhetorical question. While she had not anticipated being a space station repairwoman, it was a nice change of pace from being shot at or attacked by hostile entities. She was also getting a practical education of sorts in working with electronics. While Leona would never be able to equal Mercury Arsenault's technical knowledge, the Wizard Saint might at least learn enough

"We'll need to keep these headsets in case you have to fix anything else." Annette suggested. Leona nodded.

"OK then, I'm gonna need to get my gear." Leona said, darting off to the office where Annette had stashed her gear. She walked briskly into the office, retrieved it all, and hurried back out to catch up with the blue-haired young woman before she left Leona behind.

-On the Command Center Level, seven minutes later-

Leona and Annette emerged from the elevator to walk down a hallway to the command center. It was like the other hallways they had walked through down to the lengthy viewport with an excellent view of space. It was also fairly quiet except for mechanical humming every once in awhile.

"We're about to reach the command center for the whole station, Leona. There we can find out if there's anything else we need to patch up or if we can just sit back and wait for the repair team to get here." Annette said to Leona. Leona had put her backpack on her back on the elevator and had slipped on her Argent Gloves, but she had refrained from putting her sword belt back on because she might need to take it off again and that was more time-consuming than taking off the Argent Gloves or backpack.

"OK." Leona said calmly. After a leisurely walk through the hallway the pair reached the Command Center door. It opened for them and they walked into the Command Center.

    -Inside the Command Center-

"And here we are. The Command Center." Annette informed Leona. Leona looked around and noticed that it had the same layout as the other centers, but the computer terminals looked different. They looked newer than those on the previous levels... or maybe they were just cleaner. They also had rolling white chairs much like the office chairs back in Fiore.

"I'll see if I can't bring up a status report on the space station." Annette said, walking ahead of Leona and pulling out one of the chairs to sit in. She then sat down, rolled up to the console, and began typing rapidly. Soon Leona saw the screen flash green and heard Annette type rapidly a second time. Moments later a 3D station layout came up on the central viewscreen and showed the various levels of the space station from a side view.

"And there it is." Annette said in triumph. She then typed a few more keystrokes and parts of the station began to flash either green, yellow, orange, or red. Leona observed them and began to piece together that it was a color code for the condition of each level. Green meant perfectly functional, yellow meant that minor maintenance work was needed, orange meant that more extensive maintenance work was needed, and red meant that the entire level needed to be repaired.

Annette's eyes remained fixed on the console as Leona looked at the station layout. The blue-haired young woman made a few more keystrokes and green labels with white lines pointing out which part of the station was which appeared on the viewscreen. A section labeled "COMMAND CENTER" was marked with a white line pointing towards it. To Leona's relief the area they were in was green.

However, the Habitation Level at the very top of the station was marked orange. The Atmosphere Generation Level was marked yellow. Leona did not like the look of that. If the Atmosphere Generation Level got any worse the air they breathed could be cut off. If the air supply was cut off before the repair team got here Annette and Leona would be in deep trouble.

"Well, the Habitation Level's beyond our ability to fix. It requires a lot of tools and equipment that we just don't have. However, we might be able to stabilize the Atmosphere Generation Level. Lemme check what the exact nature of the problem is." Annette informed Leona. The sound of rapid typing was followed by a BEEP and the station layout zooming in on the Atmosphere Generation Level in question to show ten flashing objects. Six of them were green, but two of them were yellow and the other two were red.

"That's not good. We can fix two of the generators, but the other two are beyond our ability to fix." Annette dryly commented. Leona frowned. It looked like she would have to go back to work sooner than she had intended, but since she enjoyed breathing it could not be helped.

"What do I need to do?" Leona asked Annette.

Leona waited for Annette to tell her what to do when something on the terminal blipped and Annette leaned in closer to the screen. The blue-haired young woman frowned and looked at Leona.

"One of the generators just went red. There's really nothing you can do for them, Leona. Each generator is so complex that unless you know exactly what you're doing any attempt at a patch job would likely only make things worse." Annette said to Leona. The blonde knew nothing about the futuristic technology that went into the generators that created breathable air. The Wizard Saint frowned.

"I don't know the first thing about those generators, so I'd better not touch them." Leona admitted. She was not afraid to admit when she did not know something. Annette hmmm'd, typed out some commands on the keyboard to bring up a menu screen, and pressed another key.

"OK, I've shut down generators that are in the red. The generators we have online will provide us with more than enough breathable air until the repair crew gets here." Annette informed Leona of what she had just done. The Wizard Saint agreed with that course of action. If they had enough breathable air until the repair crew arrived, then it was a good idea to leave well enough alone instead of messing with technology that they did not fully understand.

"That works for me." Leona calmly replied. Now that it had been established that the smartest thing to do would be to sit and wait for the professionals, that was exactly what Leona would do. They only question now was what they would do with all the time they had on their hands.

"OK, we've got approximately six hours until the repair team arrives." Annette gave an update to Leona. Leona nodded.

"All right. What can we do until then?" Leona asked Annette. The station manager smiled at the Wizard Saint.

"Well, my office has a state-of-the-art holographic display system that I had installed just last year and I have a lot of the latest holo-movies. I watch those whenever there's a slow time and not much to do. We can go there and watch some if you'd like. Once the Habitation level is up and running again we can use the holographic room, or holoroom." Annette offered. Since Leona did not have anything better to do and she was intensely curious about futuristic technology, she would watch a few holo-movies with Annette.

"Sure. But before we go, does your office have a link to here to keep you updated about the status of the station?" Leona asked Annette. The Wizard Saint did not want to miss the arrival of the repair team because they were too preoccupied watching holo-movies. Annette turned to the right side of the room and pointed towards the door while smiling.

"My office is right there, Leona. I can get in here in a hurry if I need to." Annette said to Leona. Leona blushed in embarrassment.

"Oh. OK." Leona said and quickly let the matter drop to avoid embarrassing herself even further. Annette stood up from the chair and walked over to her office. The door opened and Leona hustled inside Annette's office.

    -Inside Annette's office-

"Welcome to my office, Leona." Annette said to Leona, sweeping her left hand around the room. Leona looked around. It had the same layout as the previous offices Leona had been in, but this one was twice the size of the previous offices. It also had a gray circular platform like a gear in the middle of the floor that rose a meter off the ground, a feature that the other offices lacked. Annette walked over to the computer desk and took a seat, then typed in an authorization code and tapped on the screen a few times.

"OK, I can now control most station functions from here. I can also get alerts if anything goes wrong with the station or its systems." Annette informed Leona of what she had done. Leona was envious of that kind of technology. She wished that she had something like that for her office back at Silver Wolf Guild Hall, but until she learned how to use her Daggerbook Leona should leave the space-age technology of the space station alone.

Annette stood up from her desk and walked up to the platform, then pressed a button at the base of it. Out of the "tooth" at her feet rose a control panel on a slender gray stalk. Annette pressed a blue button and on came the holographic projector. Leona was amazed to see the image of a space station rendered in such detail that she felt like that was how it would look from the outside.

The station manager walked over to the bed where a stack of small square cases sat on the foot. Annette sifted through them and began sorting them out until she came across one that she liked. She picked up the case in her right hand and carried it over to the projector, where she placed it in a slot just to the right of the control panel, then pressed another button on the control panel. The room's lights darkened and onto the projector flickered the image of a beach that was so realistic that Leona took a step back when a gently rolling wave rolled towards her.

    Annette laughed a little.

"So, what do you think of the holographic projector?" Annette asked Leona.

"I'm impressed, Annette. It's so realistic that it feels like I'm standing on the beach." Leona admitted. She watched as a tall dark-haired woman in a black bikini and a muscular black-haired man in his early thirties wearing blue swimming trunks walked on the beach close to the water while seagulls squawked overhead and the sun shone brightly. Another gentle wave rolled towards Leona and again the blonde took a step back, much to Annette's amusement.

"Oh Carlton, this is such a romantic place for a date! You and me on a tropical beach with no one else around!" The woman exclaimed to her companion. The man turned his head to her and spoke.

"Nothing less than the best will do for you." Carlton replied as sappy violin music played and the two kissed. Annette blushed and hurriedly turned off the movie.

"Uh, sorry Leona. This is one of my sappy romance movies and I don't think that you'd care for it. Would you like to watch something else?" Annette offered as she ejected the disc. Leona nodded.

"Sure. What else do you have?" Leona asked Annette. Annette took the bluish disc into her right hand and hurriedly walked over to the bed, then dropped it on the bed and picked up another disc.

"How would watching a space action movie work for you?" Annette asked. Leona flashed a thumbs-up.

"Sure." Leona gave her approval to the change of movie. Anything had to be better than that sappy romance movie Annette had put on to start with.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 7th January 2021, 11:32 pm

    -Six hours later-

Over the past six hours Leona and Annette had watched a few space action movies, some of which were better than others. Now the pair were watching a space action movie called The Lost Hundred where men tasked with getting a military cargo freighter set to be decommissioned to a floating dock in orbit above the forest planet Denor had been ambushed by space pirates around the planet Onottaine and crash-landed on the remote desert planet due to severe engine damage. They had pulled off a miraculous landing with only minor damage to the freighter's hull. Some of the men were taking cover behind some rocks about five meters away from their crashed ship and preparing defenses against a likely space pirate incursion.

The men drank water gathered from special portable water vapor-capturing devices on their hips and were watching the skies for a drop pod full of space pirates who were keen on finishing what they had started. The thirty men who were in the best shape to defend the vessel all had laser carbines with scopes and watched the skies apprehensively as a yellow meteor streaked towards the desert. About a minute later the drop pod had arrived with a WHUMP and had kicked up a large cloud of sand.

"There they are, men. The space pirates. They're the most dangerous bunch of men this side of the Tanares Nebula. They'll do anything for a quick credit, especially kill representatives of law and order like us." A man in an olive drab uniform with golden shoulder boards told his men and pointed towards the slowly fading cloud of sand. The men in olive drab uniforms took one last drink of water from their filtration units and readied their laser carbines for what promised to be a fight to the death. Just as the sand cloud cleared up and the drop pod appeared Annette's computer made a rapid BEEPBEEPBEEP noise and Annette paused the movie.

"Sorry, Leona. I have to take this call." Annette apologized for pausing the movie right when it was getting interesting and hurried over to the computer. She plopped down into the seat and brought up the screen. Annette gave a bright smile and typed at a rapid pace before tapping on the screen once.

"Repair team, you have permission to land in Docking Bay 74." Annette said aloud.

"Docking Bay 74 it is, Miss Larson. See ya soon." A male voice said over a speaker on the computer. Annette turned to Leona, who was sitting in her seat about three meters away from the projector.

"The repair team's here, Leona. Let's go up and meet them at Docking Bay 74." Annette told Leona. The blonde nodded, gathered up all her gear, and followed Annette out of the office and towards the docking bay.

-Twenty-five minutes later, Docking Bay 74-

Annette and Leona walked into the docking bay after enduring a long elevator ride with a lot of sudden stops followed by equally sudden starts. The environment was a sterile one with polished gray metal flooring that had a slight luster and gray wall, but what was of greater interest was a team of over four dozen men wearing white space suits with large gray backpacks standing in front of a large shuttlecraft painted white with a red wrench on the tail. Their leader, a tall and lanky man with a thick brown moustache wearing a helmet with a clear face panel, walked over to Annette and Leona.

"Hey Miss Larson. It's been awhile." The tall man said to Annette. Annette smiled.

"Yes it has, Jack. This station's seen better days. The elevator's prone to sudden stops and starts, the Habitation Level's protective dome is starting to show signs of age, and some of the generators in the Atmosphere Generation level are starting to go offline. Our communications are also starting to go bad." Annette informed the man. He put his hands on his hips.

"Well, that explains why we couldn't get in touch with you. Those Communications Relay connections can be pretty ornery when they get old. How'd you get 'em back online?" Jack asked Annette. Annette pointed towards Leona.

"My partner Leona here crawled into the maintenance tunnels and manually reconnected them. We didn't know how long they'd hold, so I contacted you while we could." Annette explained how she managed to get a message through to the repair team. Jack looked at Leona for a moment, then looked back to Annette.

"Well, I'm glad you guys managed to get it fixed long enough to call us. We'll be sure to fix 'em up for good once we get busy repairing the station." Jack said to Annette. Annette nodded.

"You guys will have a lot of repair work to do. I've got the money for it if you've got the time to spare." Annette said to the leader of the repair team. Jack smiled.

"Of course, Miss Larson. After you saved me and my team from having to ditch our shuttle in space after it took a hit to the engine from a mini-asteroid by providing a landing bay for us, we can make the time for you. We can also give you a deal on our services." Jack said. The men behind him gave murmurs of agreement. Annette smiled.

"Excellent. I believe you guys know the way, but I'll be glad to show you around if you've forgotten the layout of this facility." Annette offered. Jack nodded.

"Yeah, it's been almost three years since we've been here. We might need a tour." Jack said. Annette nodded and smiled.

"OK gentlemen, this way." Annette said. The men took off their space helmets and followed Annette out of the landing bay while Leona brought up the rear.

    -Four hours later, Annette's office-

"It's gonna take about six months of intensive repair work to get everything we need to get fixed fully operational, Leona. if you need to go back home, feel free to do so. I don't expect you to spend the next six months with me." Annette said to Leona. Leona nodded.

"I'm gonna need to head back to where I came from soon, Annette. I've got some business that needs to be taken care of before I return. I'll be back in six months or so." Leona gave her hostess an approximate time for her return. Annette nodded and smiled.

"Great! Good luck out there and thanks for helping me fix the communications relay!" Annette thanked Leona for her help today. Leona gave a small smile of her own.

"No problem. See you later, Annette." Leona replied. She walked out of Annette's office and into the Command Center, where she fished her IIC out of her backpack. Recalling how to use it to get back home, Leona raised it to her lips and looked at it.

"What's the ultimate question?" Leona asked the IIC. A moment later she vanished from the space station and arrived back in her room in Silver Wolf Guild Hall.

Leona Goes Into Space Empty Re: Leona Goes Into Space

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 8th January 2021, 10:47 am

-Silver Wolf Guild Hall, Leona's Room-

Leona arrived at exactly the same place she had left many hours ago. She felt her hair lengthen to waist length for a minute or two as she set her belongings down on her bed and put the IIC back into a desk drawer along with the instructions for it... as soon as she had put the IIC away her hair returned to its normal length. The IIC had proven to be easy to use even for someone who was not very good with technology like she was. She would have to go back to the space station approximately six months from now to see how Annette and the space station were doing, but until then she had plenty of work to do in Earthland.

Leona needed to study for her GED test. She needed to look into working with Eleanor Crouch. She needed to get a bookshelf for her room so that she could quit stacking books on the corner of her desk. She needed to see how her home village in Desierto was faring. Finally, she needed to acquire a pistol so that the Wizard Saint had a quick and reliable distance attack that did not require magic.

Aside from her numerous personal projects, there was also plenty of work that Leona needed to do both as a Guild Mistress and as a Wizard Saint. Whether it was as mundane as carrying valuable cargo to a faraway place or a task as important as slaying a dragon or eliminating a bandit gang, there was always something that needed doing. Speaking of work, there was probably some paperwork that she needed to do for the guild that had piled up on her office desk. Leona was on her way to her office to take on the mountain that was probably waiting on her, but first she needed some coffee. Leona left her room to go to the guild cafe and get some coffee before she attended to the administrative tasks of her role as Guild Mistress.
