Asher's First Adventure: Buried Secrets

Asher cheerfully followed Guy, the man who founded him stranded and lost in the desert and the first human he’s met since leaving home, as the man excitedly talks about the job, he’s getting Asher to do. Most people would be wary of strangers they just met asking for favours but Asher was a rather trusting individual, thus had no suspicion over Guy’s intent. Plus, the man promised to direct Asher to the Ace of Spades after. Asher listened the best he could to Guy prattle, something something ruins and excavations and ancient defence, with excitement. A true adventure and a way to his goal! The dessert wasn’t as interesting as he had heard and it was hot, but it was neat it had old ruins!

The ruins were grand, built into a rocky cliff, and Asher looked around with wonder. “Be careful, there’s a lot of traps. That’s why I wanted a mage to help.” Guy warns Asher and the man just nods distractedly, redeyes glowing with enthusiasm. Asher only took him seriously once the first trap was activated. It was actually pretty simple for Asher to solve, he just had Guy climb onto his back and Asher took leap after leap across, almost stumbling after the longest jump but alright overall.

The two men chat as they wander, Asher much more at ease than Guy, they encounter a hallway. Suddenly as they near the end of it, Asher’s eyes widen as his ears and nose twitches. He smells enemies and the young man draws his sword as Guy ducks behind the mage with his own weapons.

'Monster Dice' :

Two stone beings that Guy instantly identifies as stone guardians step out of their broken tombs on the side of the men, stone swords raised. Asher snarls in return and leaps at the guardian in front of him. He had swung twice at the guardian before hearing Guy’s cry and distress and whirled around to see the second guardian bearing down on the man. Asher grunted as the first guardian took the chance to hit him, but jump at the other one anyways, drawing both of their attentions. One long fight later Asher was left panting on his knees, sword in the ground steadying and both guardians crumpled dirt before him. Guy hovers over Asher in worry but the young man just sends him a grin and gets up.

The ruins then get more impressive as they go forward Guy runs toward a big door with a symbol on it in excitement. Asher jogs toward him just as the researcher opens the doors wide, then gapes as the impressive statue hovers before him, only half listening as Guy rambles about its history. Asher jumps forward as a shield falls but is relieved that it isn’t a trap. Then the light shows start and Asher’s jaw drops as Guy is lifted into the air. Asher is very worried about his new friend but is blocked from saving him by some very ugly skeletons.

'Monster Dice' :

Asher quickly realizes that things aren’t going well for him. The 4 Revenants were circling the amateur mage, taking potshots as he focused on one, then the one that hit him, keeping them all at generally good health while they whittled him down. Asher was on his last leg when the light enveloping Guy shone brighter, sending them all flying, and out dropped a… man in a skin-tight suit and red spear. The man in Guy’s voice announced himself as the Ruby Knight and jumps into the air and lands causing an explosion of fire. This not only just hurt the skeletons, but made Asher feel better as well. Leaping up Asher called his inner Phoenix as his grandfather taught him to call the flames and send a burst of it at one skeleton, while the Ruby Knight took care of the other with another burst of flame. They fought like that as a pair until the last Revenant fell.

Asher, flames around his hand dark at the center and eyes glowing in a slightly unhinged manner, turned to the Ruby Knight with a growl “Where’s Guy?!”. The Knight quickly let go of the spell revealing himself as Guy. The researcher explains what’s going on to a confused and now flameless Asher, then thanks to the mage for helping Guy. They walk and talk as they leave the temple and Guy explains that he will find the other Knights, with Asher assuring that they will see each other again because they were friends. Guy blushes and agreed.
