It was almost foreign to him—society. He couldn't tell how many years had passed since he was taken to those laboratories. Five years? Ten? It's not like the researchers kept him up to date or made sure his sense of time was in tact, so it ended up fizzling into nothing only after a short period of time...
He hated this country. He hated everything about it and hated everyone in it. No one probably gave a damn about what happened to him, and if they did, it's not like he wanted their pity to begin with. However, not everything was completely awful about this place. In just a span of a few days, Juuya had discovered worlds of flavor than he had ever experienced in his entire life. Pizza pies, fried chicken, and namely bubble tea. Or boba tea. Whatever—it was great all the same.
After escaping the laboratories, Juuya had found a guild who shared his interests, but he wasn't one to isolate himself yet again after just escaping isolation. As soon as he offered himself to their cause, he was gone. There was a whole new world to explore, after all. All sorts of foods to try and places to sleep in. The people he met were amusing, too. In just a few days, Juuya had found himself in more street brawls than what would be the acceptable amount.
He didn't actually know where he was going. Instead, he sort of rode on top of this train and that one until they stopped, and then he'd go off and do something he thought was interesting. This time, he was in Magnolia Town, "waiting" in line for bubble tea. Really, despite wearing a ripped hoodie, people were easily able to catch a glimpse at his gnarly and gross burn marks all over his face, eyes, and wrists, and when they stared at him, he stared back with a particularly ravenous glee in his eyes. Needless to say, they were kind enough to let him ahead of the line until he was the first one! It was really such a kind thing to do!
Juuya left that stand with a rather large honey boba in hand, none of which he paid for. Intimidating people into giving you things seemed to work for him so far, so he hadn't even thought about what the country's sense of currency was.
Somewhat violent, crude, and rudely playful, Juuya meandered through the streets of Magnolia. It wasn't until he had bumped into something hard and felt something wet spill all over his hoodie that he stopped in his tracks with an astonished look on his face. It was a look of someone who hadn't fully processed what had just happened.
"What... the hell?"
