Name: Horatio Strange
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: 05/10
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Special Characteristics: N/A
Personality:
The Grand Mage of Stage Horatio is as pompous as his name would imply. Obsessed with fame and gaining fortune through said fame he would, to most people, appear very superficial. Sometimes he is. But his whole obsession with grandeur is only contained to himself. He does not expect much of the same from others, nor does he wish for others to follow his same standard. To be frank he has a slight dislike for people like himself. Now that might seem weird, maybe you’d even say it doesn’t make sense. It wouldn’t, if his personality wasn’t two layered.
On one side we have a personality that places the utmost importance on his image, the way people would perceive him and the fame he has. Being known, being seen and being acknowledged is his sole goal. His morals are blurry when it concerns achieving this goal. He wouldn’t necessarily go out to actively hurt others, but if they were to say, get hurt by intervening in his bid then that’s not his problem. Someone made the mistake of standing on the spot he is going to make his grand entrance? Tough luck mate you might just get squashed under the glorious Horatio!
On the other side we have a more likeable character. Someone a tat less eccentric. The personality that comes out whenever not on stage or seen by large crowds basically. The trigger that makes the change from this personality towards the grandeur hound is whether he is A; being watched by a crowd or B; whether he is entering or on a stage. When not subjected to those circumstances, strange, the default part of his split personality comes out. A more cunning person, quiet, and kept to himself. He doesn’t talk much, and prefers to get right to the point of things. This tends to give him a bit of a rough edge in the eyes of others. Etiquette are a waste of time when you can just say something you mean in his eyes. Strange himself never really cared for companions, and is quite the opposite of Horatio when it comes to crowds. Hence why he has to make the switch in order to perform on stage. If he were to act like his normal self he would collapse from his own nervousness. (The underlying obsession with fame will have to be explained in a later ‘history’ segment which might be added through RP).
Now COMBAT, that’s an entirely different beast. Strange would always avoid any conflict, whether verbal or physical, to the point where he would even run when he’d feel it coming ( which causes some awkward situations when it’s of a more conversational nature!). If locked into a situation where combat is inevitable Strange becomes like a cornered cat, lashing out and trying to find every way possible to escape in the most direct and almost childish of manners. Strange also has the underlying low key fear of any uncontrolled source of magic, AKA any living thing using magic rather than machinery.
HORATIO! However! Wouldn’t know danger even if he was about to be crushed by a 20 meter tall giant. All part of the show he’d say! Horatio acts, once again, as a method for strange to remove some of his social limitations, though in combat he’d rather stay himself. The obvious reason for that is because Horatio cares very little about the ‘danger’ of things. As long as it makes a spectacle it doesn’t matter if he gets a few scratches here and there, or something worse.. This causes his battle style to be focused on how it looks, and he will often make choices most would deem ‘stupid’ just to gain a few prestige points in the eyes of others.

Likes:
- Crowds/solitude; Horatio loves crowds and the attention they bring! Strange, however, likes solitude where he can think and work in a quiet environment
- Machinery; Strange and Horatio both like machinery, strange for the way the intricate machinery works together to develop a result, and Horatio for the often grand results they can produce that would cost him more effort otherwise.
- Stages; For Horatio stages are the place where he gets to perform his art, and for Strange it’s the same. In Strange’s case however, it’s because the stage itself is his art. With a love for tinkering in small gadgets into a stage, the stage has become his canvas
Dislikes:
- Outskirts; Although Strange likes solitude he has grown fond of the city. Small empty rooms have grown to feel like home, and the open outskirts makes him feel uncomfortable. Of course Horatio hates the outskirts because there are less stages to hijack.
- Conflicts; Everything for the show is alright, but actual physical or verbal conflict is something Strange and Horatio would rather avoid, seeing it as tedious and unnecessary.
- Companionship; Though not stone cold enough to never get involved in companionship, both Strange and Horatio view it as an inconvenience they would rather avoid, and as such are hard to get close to.
Motivations:
- Fame; Becoming famous is the biggest goal of Horatio. Fame bring recognition, and being recognized as the grandest of mages is his sole life goal. It gives the persona a reason to exist and to continue onwards
- Elaboration of Trickery; Strange’s interest, or rather said obsession, with mechanism aiding Horatio in his stage performance has given a meaning to his work, and drives him to improve himself and gain Horatio the fame he so desires.
- Fortune; On the opposite side of Horatio’s fame is Strange’s interest in fortune, for fortune will allow him to elaborate his practice of creating odds and ends to enhance their performance.
Fears:
- Uncontrolled magic: Strange is afraid of any magic source he is incapable of controlling or conducting, in other words, any kind of magic cast by people or animals. It’s the opposite of the confidence the confinement of magic tools give him.
- Fading away: Fading away as a character not noteworthy or losing all ways of becoming famous is one of the biggest fears of both Horatio and Strange. Although Strange cares little for the fame, it would take away Horatio’s motivations in life. And Horatio’s motivation keeps Strange’s motivations on the road.
- Death; the easiest way to close the curtains on the performance of the notorious duo is by dying, something that would be most unfortunate in their eyes, as it would hamper their goals quite a bit.
