- Jem: The person getting the letter:
Kyle walked back into Magnolia. Harrigan had given Kyle some sort of break or so he thought. Kyle was rather exhausted from all the back to back missions he had taken. All the travel and lack of sleep was getting to him. Harrigan was really putting him through a ringer and for what... nothing. Kyle thought he was powerful enough to take on anything. As long as he was quiet and silent he could take out any target. Just what was this man doing to him? Kyle sighed and left his thoughts to himself. Whatever.
Kyle continued to walk down the roads through crowds. Apparently this was a festival day of some sort. He didn't care for the festival so much, mainly because he was rather tired from being battered and traveling all over Fiore. He wanted to get this mission done and over with. He put his hands in the pockets of his white silk pants and look down. The closed eyes mage ran straight into a pole. He took a step back and looked up to see the add for a concert going on. "Hmmm..." It was written with information on the time and place, but what caught his attention was the singer. Jem. He looked at the picture of the beautiful young lady. She had pink hair, blue eyes. Looked almost like a happier Aedre. Kyle put a hand on his chin in a thinking manner and looked to the left. "Well... I bet she's more pleasant than Aedre. That's for certain." He smirked. In his pocket he carried the love letter that was enclosed with the job. Why a man would trust a dark mage to do this job is a mystery, but after seeing this pinkette, he was more than happy to do the job. Maybe get a little taste of the pinkette breed of woman too.
Kyle's devilish grin got him thinking. He looked at the poster once more. "Masks will be provided at the concert. This is a masquerade." Kyle was super excited for that. It would be easy to blend in with crowds with this detail. So he walked to the location of the concert. He made his way to the ticket stand. The man at the booth had this unamazed look on his face. "Why so sour?"
"Have you seen this crowd tonight? They're all idiots, they have no clue that the pop star only lip syncs her songs. The chick who actually sings them isn't as attractive. Plus the songs she sings. Blech!" The man stated. He looked at Kyle. "I take it you want a mask too?"
Kyle shrugged. "I'm only curious to see what all the hubbub is about. Say... Do you have backstage access?"
The man nodded. "But you can simply buy a golden mask to get the backstage access. That's like 1075 jewel extra."
Kyle began to think. Maybe Harrigan gave him a break since he followed all of his instructions to the tiniest and minute detail. Even the instructions Harrigan hadn't given him. The ones he had to assume were correct. "How much is a regular white mask?"
"500 Jewel."
Kyle looked into his wallet to find that he had 1570 jewel. That... smart ass, sarcastic, narcissistic, vainglorious son of a bitch. Kyle thought. He sighed and looked over at the ticket man. "I only have 1570 can I get it for that?"
"Sorry we can haggle our prices down for people. If we did that, everyone would want to pay 5 jewel less."
Kyle sighed. How was he going to get backstage with out this mask. Would have to resort to his assassin ways again? Could he charm the backstage security team? Would he--
"You're missing 5 jewel? Here..." A voice sounded behind him. It was the sweetest of voices. He looked up to see a beautiful young lady with pale skin, blue eyes, and brown hair. She wore a pair of jeans with brown boots and a blue blouse. She had a warm smile. "Better yet Ralph, give him a gold mask for free. He seems to be a new fan of Jem's." There was something about the facial structure to the woman that made her look familiar.
"Oh yes Lucrecia! Not a problem!" The man said and pulled out a gold mask handing it to Kyle. "You're lucky. That's Jem's twin. She's the one that has the better voice."
Twins? That's not right, but what ever gets their money coming in, that's fine with me. Kyle thought to himself. He also had the brighter outlook of having TWO beautiful women at the same time again.
Lucrecia nodded and walked off waving her hand just as Harrigan did. However, this was something he noted as an act of kindness. "I'll see you backstage!" Lucrecia giggled. Kyle nodded then looked in his pocket. Shit! He forgot to hand Lucrecia the love note to give to Jem. He sighed and put the mask on his face, walking into the crowd. Kyle felt at home in this crowd. He looked up at the stage. It was full of pinks and glitter. This was definitely a girl singer with a huge man following. He noted the many sweaty, hairy, and nerdy men waving their banners. Then suddenly the pyrotechnics went off.
"ARE YOU READY?"
Kyle's eyes opened in shock as he heard the shout over the microphone. "Lucrecia?" Suddenly the pop star walked out onto the stage. She had the same teased pink hair and blue eyes. She wore a purple cocktail dress with pink feathers hanging out of the bottom. This was not Lucrecia, this was Jem. She sang with a beautiful voice. Just something about Jem seemed off to Kyle. He focused on the woman and grinned. Jem WAS Lucrecia.
At the end of the show Kyle walked to the stage security. He wore the gold mask with a smile. "May I go through?"
The guards moved aside and let Kyle in. It seemed like he was the only one allowed in. He made his way over to the dressing room then knocked on the door. No answer. He was rather confused. Lucrecia gave Kyle the mask, why wouldn't she let him in. Kyle then heard a sort of yelp for help in the room. He jiggled the door knob only to find that he was locked out. Kyle sighed as he thought he wouldn't have to do this trick again. He made a key with the sand on the floor and unlocked the entry to Jem's dressing room. Instead of just Jem he saw Lucrecia in the purple dress struggling and being held by a man. Kyle ran up swiftly and sent a chop to the man's neck. His eyes went completely white and he loosened his grip and fell over. "So... you want him to live?"
Lucrecia looked at the man and then back at Kyle. "Well... I can't have anyone knowing my secret. I am an agent for Harrigan after all. I always was." She turned around and took her necklace off. Just like a light switch, a Savage Skull tattoo appeared on her shoulder blade. Kyle put a hand on his face then drug it down to his chin out of aggravation. Kyle's hope for a fun night with this pop star have been shattered. Kyle had a thing about co workers. It was the equivalent of taking a dump where you eat.
"Savage Skull mage huh... I should've seen this coming, by a long shot."
"Why else would you be here?" She grabbed the man by the head and broke his neck. "Just put the body outside please. Security will take care of it."
Kyle sighed and did so. He shut the door and looked at the singer with a glare. "Here's the letter one of your childhood friends wanted you to have. I suspect he wanted to be discreet by giving it to one of your guildmates." Kyle was about to walk out when he heard her sweet voice.
"So you want to know why you were actually sent out here?" The woman said with a smirk. She read through the letter and walked over to her dresser. "You were notifying me that our old guild master Frederick is no longer our master. Harrigan now is. He was changing my assignment to keep a look out for any useful information on Kyll." She also smirked. "And he wanted me to tell you that your next stop is the Peace Village."
Kyle stomped his foot on the ground. "THAT STUPID BASTARD! THIS IS THE LAST MISSION! I'M DONE! I don't want to be someone's errand boy just to be dragged along blindly! I don't care anymore!" Of course Kyle's words were empty threats. He knew that if his words were sent back to Harrigan, which more than likely they were, he would be reprimanded for his hypocrisy.
"You do know that he was called The Torturer by our late Master Frederick right? I wouldn't cross him that much."
Kyle walked out of the room pissed. Harrigan had fooled him into another night of no "fun"... or did he. Kyle walked through the crowd and grabbed a random blonde girl. "I'm not so happy right now... Could you help me?"
The blonde immediately gave him a happy smile and the two walked away into the night.
