It was finally here; the Urban Nights rave event that was taking Fiore by storm had set up shop in many of the country's largest cities. Most importantly, one such event was located in Era, home to the Rune Knights, the Magic Council and, last but certainly most importantly, Kyra Forte. She'd been looking forward to the event for weeks now and it had been one of the few things to distract her from her work as the day came closer and closer. Of course, this hadn't been helped by the fact that almost every single person she came across was talking about the event too.

As the pearly-haired Knight made her way towards the festivities in the city center, she couldn't help but admire the almost overwhelming array of bright, explosive colours. They made her outfit - a white t-shirt with a rainbow lace overlay, black shorts with a rainbow motif and her rainbow trainers - look bland by comparison. Truth be told though, she didn't care much for her own appearance. She just wanted to have fun, and that meant going all-in on the night's events. The first, most important thing right now though was to get a drink. Era had been experiencing a heatwave of late and, though it was getting later in the day, the breeze and the evening air were far from reaching the levels of cooling that would be required. Her sapphire-blue eyes darted around the event, searching for some kind of a sign amongst the vomit of colour that would symbolise a place for drinks. After a few moments (and somewhat strained eyes) she found a point where many people were walking away with cups of liquid. Logic dictated that this was the place, and so she made her way towards the stall.

Upon arriving at the makeshift bar, Kyra almost immediately realised that it wasn't a simple 'buy a drink, quench your thirst'. These drinks were specially made for the event. It seemed some of them had an effect on the drinker as she watched in awe as a girl's hair went from chestnut brown, to hot pink and flourescent orange - a garish colour scheme that actually looked really, REALLY good on her. Excited, Kyra approached the bar. "Hey guuurrrrl! Whatcha havin'?" the smiling, pink-haired barmaid called out to her. Kyra smiled back warmly before glancing at the menu in front of her. The drinks all sounded super interesting; Lit Meow Splash, Ectasy Haze, Exploding Maverick Tincture, Razzle Dazzle and Sloth Toddy. "If you can't decide, I can pick one for ya!" the barmaid called out happily. Kyra shook her head and smiled at her again. "No, I'll choose..." she began, before closing her eyes and pointing randomly on the menu. "...that one!" she called, before opening her eyes to see exactly what it was that she'd chosen; Ectasy Haze. The barmaid nodded and set to work, grabbing several bottles of alcoholic liquid (she was moving so fast that Kyra couldn't even catch what was written on the labels), pouring a small amount of each into a metal shaker. She popped the lid on top and then began shaking it, before making a performance out of it by throwing the shaker in the air and proceeding to spin it with gentle, precise flicks of her wrist. After a few spins - and a 360-degree spin of her own body - the barmaid caught the shaker and began pouring the drink into a glass while Kyra and a few others at the bar clapped and cheered. Once poured, the barmaid lifted a blowtorch from beside her and began torching the top of the drink. Within seconds it was smoking and the barmaid put the blowtorch away before sliding the drink across the counter.

"Tell ya what sis, you look like someone who likes a challenge. These lads here have been trying and failing to chug one of our drinks for the last hour. If you can down yours in one go, I'll give you one of our event stamps by way of thanks for stomping these boys into the ground." A grin spread across the maid's face, which was met by an accepting grin from Kyra. The lads in question were two taller and slightly muscular young men, both fresh-faced and, apart from being slightly inebriated, looked completely friendly. "And if I fail?" she asked. She knew better than to assume there wasn't a catch. She was correct. "If you fail, you have to give us both a kiss!" one of the lads blurted out. The barmaid was quick to jump in. "On the CHEEK. I won't have you taking advantage of my challenge thank you very much." The two lads sighed in faux-disappointment, but then laughed and nodded. "Aye, only on the cheek. But still one for each of us. Deal?"

Kyra took a moment as if she was considering their offer. "Deal." she replied, before raising the glass to her lips and beginning her challenge. As the liquid poured down her throat, she could hear the two boys beginning to chant "Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!" It had been a long time since she'd been in this situation and it almost caused her to laugh. But she held her own and, after about ten seconds, the glass was empty. The two lads cheered and hugged each other before then looking almost sad as they realised there would be no kiss on the cheeks for them. Kyra took a moment as the drink went down fully; it had been as warm as expected but, surprisingly, it tasted really, REALLY nice, almost like raspberries. She pulled a small amount of her hair in front of her eyes to see if it had changed colour, but sadly there was no such luck

Despite her mild disappointment, Kyra smiled at the barmaid who was laughing almost hysterically at this point. "Daaamn! I wasn't expecting you to destroy it that fast!" she said through a few giggles before bringing a stamper up from under the bar, along with a flyer with three blank slots. She slammed the stamp onto one of those slots and, as she pulled it up, a rainbow 'Urban Nights' motif had filled it. She handed the flyer to Kyra who took it with a smile before turning to the two lads who were both smiling even in defeat. Whether it was the effects of the drink, or whether it was just that she was feeling very friendly herself right now, the Rune Knight stepped towards the two lads and pulled them in for a group hug. "That's for being good sports." she said happily before releasing them and, with a warm smile, turning and heading away from the bar. With her thirst somewhat quenched - though unfortunately the heat still being there - she headed to see what else was around.

It didn't take long for something else to catch her attention. A little further down the street there was a large, almost open space lit up with brighter lights than were present elsewhere. In the middle of the space were a few people dancing. As Kyra approached, she realised they weren't just dancing to the music, but were seemingly dancing in competition with each other. On one side were two girls dressed in matching outfits. They clearly had some idea as to what they were doing and had obviously danced together for at least a short while as they were in complete sync with each other. On the other side were two more girls, both obviously a little bit drunk as they tried to keep up with their opponents, but were so out of sync that it was almost painful. Kyra opted not to focus on them and focused instead on the two girls who were in the matching outfits. Kyra had seen them before and they'd caught her attention then too; they often danced in the halls around Era. She'd actually memorised a few of their moves courtesy of V-1 recording the shows. She could never beat them of course and she knew that. But as they finished their opponents off with a tandem dance move that sent cheers through the crowd, a slightly insane thought crossed the Engineer's mind; ...I bet I can match them...

This was definitely the alcohol speaking.

But as the two girls looked around the crowd for their next opponents, Kyra's legs were already moving. Before she could fully comprehend what was happening, she was stood in the center of the dancefloor opposite the two dancers who had a mixed look of surprise and of excitement. They'd smashed their previous competition and yet here was a girl looking to dance against them solo? "You look confident...this should be fun." the girl on the right said. Now that Kyra was closer, she realised that that girl was slightly taller than the other one, albeit not by much. A strange observation to make when she was about to make an idiot of herself. "If you're ready, then let's go!" the second, shorter girl called before the duo took a ready stance, causing the crowd to roar in anticipation. Kyra closed her eyes and let out a sigh. It was too late to back out now. After one final, deep breath, she opened her eyes and kicked into action, opening with a move the girls would know quite well as one of their own. Indeed their eyebrows raised slightly and they glanced at one another as Kyra hit it near perfectly before keeping the movements going. After a few more seconds, the two girls jumped in and began matching Kyra's movements, but adding more flair and co-operative flow to their dancing that the Rune Knight would never be able to match. Nonetheless, Kyra persevered and kept up with the two girls as best as she could. After what felt like an eternity - it had been about five minutes - the two girls performed one final, somewhat insane move of a leapfrog followed by a backflip and Kyra knew she was beat. She bowed her head in defeat and clapped the pair, to which the crowd roared and clapped and cheered for the show. "Well tried. You did better than those two girls from before at least."
"That's not really a fair compliment though."
"That's...true actually. But you put up a good showing. Have you gotten a stamp collector yet?"

"Yeah actually, why?" Kyra asked in response, pulling the flyer from her pocket that she'd received at the bar. She handed it to the two girls and they beckoned for her to follow them to the DJ's booth. Once there, they stamped the second blank slot on the paper and handed it back to Kyra before then chatting to the DJ for a moment. They then turned their attention back to Kyra again. "You've got a real feeling for music, y'know that?" the taller girl asked, causing Kyra to smile somewhat embarrassed. "It's true tee-bee-aytch. So we've asked the DJ if you can step in with him and mix a coupla tracks. You in for it?" the shorter one added. Kyra, in stunned silence, nodded. "In the booth you pop then. I'm expecting an absolute banger of a mix for our next dance." the shorter girl continued before the two pushed Kyra towards the booth and headed back to the dancefloor. Somewhat dazed, she stepped into the DJ booth and smiled at the DJ, who gave a warm smile back. "Heeeey! You smashed it out there. The girls said you had good rhythm and I'm inclined to agree. So let's see your chops on these decks shall we? I'll be right here to back you up. First of all, you got a name?" the DJ asked. "Kyra." Kyra replied simply. The DJ thought for a moment, then grinned. "Gotcha." he replied before grabbing a microphone that lay on the desk in front of him. "Ladies and gents, guys and gals, we got ourselves a special guest on our booth for our next mix! Lemme hear some noise for L'il K!!!"

Not a name Kyra would've chosen, but the roar from the crowd almost caused her eardrums to split, so clearly it was accepted as at least a half-decent name to the drunken masses. The DJ placed the microphone down and tugged Kyra's arm to get her in front of the mixing desk properly. "Right, I've set up a few tracks for you to mix together. They all have the same or very similar tempo and style, so you just need to find a good time to blend the tracks together. Use the headphones there. They'll have the next track playing through them. Listen for that sweet spot." the DJ explained before taking a step back. The next track played and the dancers in the center of the open space began their dance-off. It took everything in Kyra's power not to focus on them instead of the music. She brought the headphones up to her right ear and it almost threw her with how different the two tracks sounded. But as the tracks continued, she began to understand why the DJ had picked them. Her first transition was a little sloppy as the second track had begun to slow down as she transitioned to the second track, but it was hardly noticeable to most expect herself, the two dancers from before, and the DJ who gave a knowing chuckle. "Missed the sweet spot. Feel it, and commit to it. Don't hesitate." he advised. Kyra smiled and nodded. "Gotcha, thanks."

The next transition was much smoother, albeit still not perfect. The drums were slightly out of sync when she transitioned, but it was so minor that only she and the DJ noticed this time. "There's one more transition to go. You've got this." He placed a hand on Kyra's shoulder and smiled as he looked out at the dancefloor, clearly enjoying the spectacle. Kyra was more focused on the music this time though. She closed her eyes and began feeling the music, her head bopping in time with the current track. Then, the sweet spot. The moment both tracks lined up perfectly and her head bopped in perfect rhythm with both of them. Her eyes opened and she started fading out the current track whilst bringing in the new one. Seamless. The DJ fist-pumped and laughed loudly. "Bloody NAILED IT! You BEAUT!" he cheered, hugging Kyra who laughed happily. The track played through its duration as the current dance-off came to an end. "I don't normally do this, but gimme your stamp collector. You smashed that." Kyra grinned and pulled the flyer from her pocket once more, handing it to the DJ who grabbed the stamp and filled the last slot on the sheet. "Swear down, you aced it tonight. You better be here the next time we come around!" He gave Kyra the sheet back before giving one last smile and a wave and heading back into his booth. Kyra meanwhile had the rest of the night to spend doing whatever the hell she wanted. She hadn't expected to get any of the stamps, let alone all three within such a short space of time, yet here she was. Maybe she'd be able to find some of her comrades out and about now.

Whether she did or not, one thing was a definite; this called for more drinks.
