This sanctuary was home to countless generations of priests and shrine maidens dedicating their lives to preserving the glow of this flame, which radiated a gentle warmth and flickered with a deeply golden hue, those who were granted the honor of keeping alive the divine fire would collectively become known as the "Successors of Flame".

Many tried to bribe the people of this secluded monastery with exceedingly expensive gifts, but the Successors of Flame were uninterested in the material values of the mortal world, their existence solely focussed on the sacred flame in their midst. One of the most powerful lords of the time, enraged by the head priests refusal to serve him and proclaim him heir to the flame, sent out his army to destroy that which he couldn't possess, the temple secluded from the rest of the world in peace for so long burning to the ground, swallowed by the impure flames of war in a cold winter night. The shrine maidens and priests of the flame were slaughtered mercilessly, one of them, however, managing to escape the onslaught of soldiers, the remaining priest and sole surviving Successor of Flame locking himself in the Divine Flame's chamber. With the Temple already burning, it was certain that it would only be a matter of time until the fire of Amaterasu would be tainted by the flames of war around it before disappearing forever, and so, in a desperate attempt to preserve the flame, he had taken the divine flame into his own body. Through a feat of unparalleled magical prowess, the man set ablaze his heart, shrouding it in golden flame and replacing it with the divine fire of Amaterasu and using his newfound power to escape the destruction of that night, the blazing flame of the Sun Goddess continuing to burn within the last successor's bloodline to this day.

While the divine flame may not shine in a physical form any longer, it has been inherited by the Successors of Flame and continues to burn within them while their bloodline remains alive. The user of this lineage gains access to a new magic type that can be used in the creation of magic referred to as "Successor". Magic of the type "Successor" can include "Caster" type spells. Further, the user gains a weapon, armor, or item with the creation of every magic including the "Successor" type similar to the "Holder" type of magic. This piece of equipment follows the same rules and guidelines as other pieces of "Holder" equipment, though it must be based on fire or flame. Unlike "Holder" type magic, this piece of equipment is not strictly required as a focus to cast spells of the associated "Successor" type magic. The benefit levels for "Successor" type magic can be found below:

• Solitary: +100% increase to Spell Damage. Associated Weapon/Armor/Item receives 3 additional equipment abilities that are equal to the character's rank (Up to H).
  
• Primary: +50% increase to Spell Damage. Associated Weapon/Armor/Item receives 2 additional equipment abilities that are equal to the character's rank (Up to H).
  
• Auxiliary: +25% increase to Spell Damage. Associated Weapon/Armor/Item receives 1 additional equipment ability that is equal to the character's rank (Up to H).

The Divine Flame of Amaterasu is a symbol of her power that has persisted for centuries, and, as an icon of her worship, was itself vessel to divine power. With the inheritance of this flame, some divine power has been passed down to the Successor's bloodline, as well. The user gains an additional Signature Spell slot in every magic including the "Successor" magic type, ranking with the user up to S Rank. Further, the user gains an additional 3 unranked spell slots in every magic including the "Successor" magic type, which may be allocated according to applicable spell slot maximums by the user, as well as an additional H Rank spell in the same magic. Lastly, the user gains 2 additional Advanced Spell Slots in any magic including the "Successor" magic type, one ranking with the user up to S+ Rank while the other ranks with the user up to H+ Rank. The user, aside from that, also benefits from altered Normal spell slot maximums in any magic including the "Successor" magic type. The specific Normal spell slot maximums, which override those described in the magic rules, can be found below:

The user's base MP, base Spell Speed, and base Spell Range are increased by 50% each, while their base Spell Damage is increased by 100%. Furthermore, the user, while themselves perhaps not associated with fire or fire magic at all, actively receives the blessing of Amaterasu. This enables them to consume and absorb fire magic much like a Slayer could. The nature of that fire, such as holy, unholy, or neutral, or which elements are mixed with said fire magic, is irrelevant and the fire magic in question can be consumed regardless. Natural sources of fire cannot be consumed. If a spell, for example, contains 20 MP and the user consumes the spell, the user regains 20 MP, etc. The user does not take damage from spells that are consumed. If a spell that is being consumed by the user is higher in rank than the user, they, instead of gaining the full MP of the spell they are consuming, regain a quarter of the MP of a spell equal to their own rank while also taking full damage from the spell that is being consumed. Resistances do not affect damage taken this way in any way or form.

The will to preserve the Goddess' Divine Flame, and thus preserve some of her worldly legacy, is a goal that has pushed the Successors of the past forward, now that the flame has fused with their bloodline even moreso than before. The user's MP is passively increased by 200%. Further, the user possesses the ability to, upon casting a spell from a magic containing the "Successor" magic type that deals damage or using an ability from a piece of equipment associated with a magic containing the "Successor" magic type that deals damage, pay an increased MP cost by multiplying the total MP cost of said spell or ability, after all buffs, debuffs, and other modifying factors have been taken into account, by 2x. If this is done, the spell or ability in question is infused with golden, divine flame, and the total damage of said spell or ability, after all base buffs, buffs, and modifying factors have been taken into account, is increased by 50%. This only applies to offensive spells or offensive abilities that deal damage and cannot apply to purely defensive or supportive spells. This increase cannot stack on any given spell or ability by being used repeatedly, and can only be used on any given spell or ability once upon casting it. This ability, however, can be used on every offensive spell the user casts without restriction on the number of times it can be used per post. Spells and abilities under this effect can pierce armor, shields, and barriers without sacrificing any damage in the process.

In times of great peril, the Divine Flame swells in size and becomes a roaring inferno, burning away all impurities and embodying the will of Amaterasu. Once per thread, the user can manifest this divine will and call forth the Goddess' golden flame, shrouding their body in an aura of brilliant fire. To enter this state, the user must sacrifice between 10% and 75% of their total MP, with 10% being the minimum amount of MP that may be sacrificed, while 75% constitutes the maximum. While in this state, the user can unleash attacks of golden flame, which may take the user's preferred shape and form, but will always possess a maximum range equal to user rank advanced Multi Target range (Up to H+ Rank) and move at user rank advanced Multi Target speed (Up to H+ Rank). For every 1% of their total MP sacrificed upon the activation of this ability, the base damage of this ability will be increased by an additional 10 HP (For example, this ability deals 100 HP of damage per hit if 10% of the user's total MP is sacrificed, 340 HP of damage per hit if 34% of the user's total MP is sacrificed, etc.).
