Well this job to go gather materials in the forest wasn’t exactly going as planned. She could see that the animal tracks around here were much too big for comfort. She just wanted to shake her head and get this over with. She then met up with the person she was supposed to be making acquaintances with and then she made sure to shake her hand and introduce herself. Now, it was time to gather some materials, plants specifically for someone who was willing to pay this much money. "Come on, it's time." Let's go see what kind of stuff is going to get messed up in the forest.” The other person she was with sighed. She did something with her hands and called insects to her aid. An insect user? That was odd, but it wasn’t the strangest thing she had seen. She sighed, well, she hadn’t exactly gotten paired up with the dream team over here but she guesed it was better than nothing. She would be able to remain discreet, and she would get all the necessary information that they required. How much was she willing to risk to get some damn plants!? She walked around into the forest with a chill running down her spine and she picked plants as she went along. There was little she could manage to find though. The one she was looking for was simply not easily to get ahold of today. Oh, that’s why… she was in a forest. They were supposed to head over to a pasture. She sighed and went over to the nearest pasture that was just past the treeline. That’s where she found the plants she needed. She started to get happier and happier as the plant she desired came to her easily now. The girl with the insects was able to gather from a distance soon enough. She was able to do more than enough to make the hirer happy. Now she just had to wrap up this area and move onto the next.

They hit the road fairly quickly, towards the next pasture. And yeah, they were right next door, so she already had to think about how not to grill herself. Diversion? This can be a risk, implying that she was trying to divert attention. Well normal, in wartime and where peace is very fragile, it was zero tolerance and absolute distrust. So she had to forget about trying to get too complacent out here. It was sort of a prologue. If a bunch of plants were missing and they realized it, it was done. Basically, she had to remain discreet at the time, and after that, she didn't want anyone to notice that she had been there. Not easy eh, but she know very well how to do it, thanks to her talent with insects. She had more recently, learned a to gather all these plants on her own so she really didn’t need help. Well that was enough for now. She’d pick up where she left off after lunch.

    New job starting:

    https://www.fairytail-rp.com/t37925-free-form-job

As she went off and collected even more plants that her job required her to collect over in the pasture, she couldn’t help but feel a little bored. It wasn’t exciting stuff really. She was getting tired of picking more and more plants and it was already time for her to regret eating so much for lunch. Her tummy was a rumblin but not from hunger, but from being over full. She gathered up a fist full of plants with her gloved hand and stuffed them in her pack without paying much attention to the plants themselves. She was too busy looking around for danger and making sure her body didn’t touch the potentially poisonous plants around her. Meanwhile the girl she was out here was busy developing even more her affinity with her insects. Certainly, they were known for espionage, and spinning, because their insects could give them information when to a person, by sticking to him she could know where he was, as well as feel presences around. Except that here, she pushed art much further. She was jealous that this insect girl had something so unique. When was she going to get something so unique like that which she could use to define herself? It was a little disheartening but whatever, she did what she had to. The only horrible part was feeling inferior but she had af eeling if they got into a fight she could take this insect girl like she was nothing. Maybe that was her pride getting to her or maybe she underestimated the power of what bugs could do. She just thought they were gross, most of all.

As she nearly finished gathering up all the plants she had to to meet her quota, she took a seat on a tree stump and looked around. Yeah, she must have a repressed scientific side in her, she know nothing about it. In short, by concentrating her mind, she could see, feel and hear the environment around her. She just wanted to close her eyes and take a nap but… she decided against it. She still had a few more plants to gather before calling it quits for the day. She talked to the bug girl as she collected, and discussed the pros and cons of her own skillset. She explained that this technique of hers certainly had faults, but she knew how to use it wisely, so no problem. So she was no longer very far from this famous pasture, and immediately put herself in a tall, leafy tree, so as not to be noticed. First approach, see the global situation at a glance. Well it was about time for them to go back to town, at least for now. She knew that she would be out and about even more later to finish up here. But that wasn’t for later and she wanted to have a snack. She deserved it after gtting all sweaty with all this gathering right? She thought so, at least.

More gathering. Nothing special. She was probably about half way done with what she had wanted to be done with now that she had done a count from her previous escapade. So she just went around collecting more stuff. She had to keep looking in the local pastures for special plants. She looked off in the distance. How? Or What? She was looking at a small town and she couldn’t tell if there were more than two guards on the borders defending it or if they were just holding some sort of festival that drew their police force from the outskirts. Otherwise, no alert, so no need to worry. Keeping to herself was not really a priority as they were rather quiet. She could see two guards at the entrance to this pasture, sitting quietly at the foot of the doors, speaking at first sight. Well, they weren't on the alert, she was going to be able to use her gathering skills without much problem. In addition, they certainly did not know the girl was even there, which still gave her an advantage with collecting what wasn’t really hers to take.

"Good. It looks like they are not crazy in this area, so much the better." Now, she will have to observe them carefully, to see the guards, the reliefs, but she must be closer for that. Here, go ahead, and give her information, she said to her teammate, it's time to know everything about these people…” For her, they were too discreet not to be suspected. Those who made noise, could be dangerous. But those who say nothing, can be even more. The woman’s insect began to fly, mixing with its own, which were already there. For the moment, she had not yet activated her new technique, but she would not be long in doing so, to hear things, which could prove useful. Her insect was flying towards the two guards who were at the entrance to the town. She took the lead as she followed behind and tried to to listen to what they had to say. And yes, her techniques are rather "I'm crazy about your private life", but no choice, an order is an order, especially since it comes from her leader in person, it was not for nothing. So flying discreetly, with barely audible wingbeats in this place already infested by its others.

She crept up from a different angle and someone said, “did you see how calm it is right now? they don't really know how to do it anymore. You know what, I tell you, but hush, a good little fight could do us good, a little exercise! I'm tired of staying there in front of these doors, nothing to do!” “Yeah, I agree with you… Anyway, who do you want to attack? Here they are in an atmosphere dominated by peace, who would they attack? Travellers? Get over yourself. Thre’s nothing to do here and if we do cause trouble we get fired. Let’s just enjoy the time off.”

She didn’t’ really like her partner’s insects so she had her insects removed, which after several seconds made her understand that they were saying that to "mess around". Okay, but not too much anyway. Especially since she didn't really like being tickled on this subject, like the guy who wants to mess up their positioning. Anyway, it was better not to try anything, he wouldn't have done much. They changed the subject, and started talking about completely uninteresting things, and then directed her towards the village. It was not far from the tree of life, a sumptuous landscape. She could now see and feel, hear what was going on inside this pasture, simply through her senses, it was nice to be able to spy without being noticed. Other trees around the latter, which served as the foundation for the houses built, sumptuous, and at the same time very disturbing for her… In short, she was still doing a first grand tour of the area, to admire this landscape and at the same time count the number of guards present in it. There were exactly four patrols of three men, who were constantly rolling in the town.

Well it looked like she didn’t have to worry about the guards if they weren’t going to stop her from going around gathering. That was all okay by her. She went around collecting more plants that she was tasked to, filling up all the containers she had brought with her. It really didn’t get easier than this right? And there weren’t even any beasts to fight. Save for one large creature that was sitting next to a treasure trove of materials. It wasn’t all too difficult though. She ran at it and took it down without a single hiccup aside from taking a couple nicks to her forearm. She really needed to mix it up sometime and use some ranged attacks. But that was beneath her, in her opinion. She just wanted to deal with this in her own way, with her fists.

She spent a few more hours, managing her gathering as best she could. So she had learned quite a bit. The town nearby wasn’t exactly up in arms with no one, and feared no attack, therefore no suspicion of possible trespassing on this fields with debateable ownership rights. According to residents, they are happy to live there, and accept these constant patrols even in times of lull. Their leader was rather discreet, and pleasant with his people, a sort of dictatorship but with some overtures to the people, too slight to say a democracy. So there were these famous patrols, which took turns every four hours. In addition, there were four towers, square shaped. Here, they took turns quite often, every two hours, two times less than those who were there. They were very careful, and showed it. On the walls, There were two guards per section, each going to one side, taking about 5 minutes to make the round trip. She had spotted a few flaws there, but they were well organized.

Not that she cared all too much. She wasn’t actually stealing and she wasn’t being evil. But she knew that someone would alert others to their presence if they were caught. And then they’d have to have that long conversation about who actually owned this pasture and if they had permission, if they really needed permission, etc. She didn’t want to get caught up in that kind of stuff. It was more effort than it was worth really and now that she had finally gathered up all the plants she needed to call this day a roaring success, she thought that she might as well just pack up and go home now. She smiled to her teammate who used bugs and thanked her for her weird help for the day and all the scouting she had done. It was nothing special, and the bug lady just returned the thanks for being the one to collect most of the plants themselves. A mutual teamwork relationship. How often did that work out?

She decided to take the most of the rest of the trip back to explore the town near her. She saw that there were some lookout towers and she wondered how a place like this kept watch over their territory. She wandered about and tried to get a good vantage point. She saw that there was a lot of movement and that therefore they changed shifts about every two hours, leaving a time of about 10 minutes of freedom. During these changes, it was also necessary to pay attention to those who were on the wall. Meanwhile, those inside were not fully covering the village, leaving gaps too. The only thing that could hurt them apart from these few details was their military might. There were certainly a lot of guards, but they weren't all of the highest caliber. They all participated certainly, but did not all have the level to face anyone. Once this information gathered, she brought her attention to the other things worth looking at. Like tourist attractions and even the food stands. She went to them and had a good meal and decided that this place wasn’t half bad. Even the guards were friendly enough. It made her feel good and she thought that she would return here later if she could manage it. She then took the road towards her home, to report on this success she’d had today which had lasted five hours.

Once she finally got home she just did her chores, made some more food because lall this walking was going to make her famished and all that jazz. She just had to burn.. juust… a little… more time… and then she could go to sleep after setting her alarm clock. She set it for 5 Am so she could get back at it and do some more money earning the next day. She dreamt of all the money she’d earned!

So now that that was all out of the way, she could get to gathering like she’d come here to do in the first place. The surrounding area was sparsely populated with animals. She suspected that the beast had gone through and done most of the destructive work on its own. That was a good and bad thing because on one hand it made it easy to gather plants that she needed. On the other hand there wasn’t much wildlife to get distracted by. That made for a particularly boring gathering trip. Her partner was too busy doing whatever it was in the town so there was little for her to do but talk to herself and think about what she wanted to do with the rest of her day once all this gathering bullcrap was over. She wondered what other things she wanted to do as well because she sure as hell didn’t want to be out here doing nothing at all with all her free time.

Feeling some plants between the gloves of her hands she let out a sigh and tucked them into the appropriate container and then sat down, wondering how much more she had to get. There wasn’t much else for her to do but have wishful thinking that it would all be over soon. Why couldn’t any of the people she’d met back home be of any use? She would have loved to go out and gather with some of them but nobody even wanted to give her the time of day. Could she really be beholdened to a group that didn’t even want to spend time with her? Did she even want people to spend time with her? She let out a deep sigh and then turned her attention out to the horizon. She saw some more plants that needed gathering so she got her butt up and walked slowly over there. It wasn’t like she had anything better to do. She gathered up the plants, tucked them away, and then tried to think of what she would do if she was attacked while out here peacefully picking and doing her own business.

More plants. Plants and plants and plants. She was getting sick of it. She just wanted to burn this whole damn pasture to the ground. But she didn’t. She stayed a good compliant subject to her authority and just went around collecting. It was dull work interrupted only by the occasional squirrel that tried to bother her but she would just kick it aside because why not? That squirrel was nothing but a nuisance to her even though she had just been wanting wildlife to observe just a little hwile ago. Her mood was soiled. The only thing that would make her feel better now was going to be someone that would help her through these hard times. She let out a deep sigh and then turned her attention… back to the plants at hand. Too much to gather, always too much.

She imagined a time when she could get a well paying exciting task that wouldn’t have her out here gathering plants for a living. She could just picture someone walking up to her and saying that they had an opportunity for her. And it starts all over again, it never stops, no matter how much she run, run away, change shape, kiss the boss's wife to ask her for help, nothing helps, she can't escape it! Cruel fate of being a ninja; always forced to race others to climb up the ladder. If she knew what was good for her she would fein a broken arm or something. Say she felt sick to her heart, she ate an expired meal. Nothing helped. He took her by the arm and dragged her to the office of her superiors, where assignments were given to people like her, young and old. they were passing in front of a desk filled with enthusiasm, their eyes sparkling as if they were going to eat their first meal in several days. The urge to bump her up immediately. Too many happy fools around. Then she realized that she wasn’t that low level anymore. She couldn’t relive the nostalgia unless she had a time machine. She grabbed some more plants and boddled them up while closing her eyes and missing the good old days. When things were exciting, when things could be accomplished through sheer force of will and energy. Now she had to use her brain more than ever. Ugh, growing up sucked. She just wanted to settle down, you know? Why did she always end up doing what ever she could to get more money?

She barely had time to think of the place where she got her clothes that she was already being dragged into the depths of the pasture to gather even more. She was nearly full with all her containers. She believe that below her grade, was the most fun place to be at, but she wasn’t sure. She blinked and looked at an animal like she was trying to find out if it had any clues on where to go to get more stuffs. She didn’t know what else to do. He gives her a stern look and full of animosity but he does not notice the aggressiveness that she throw him madly in the face. To believe that nothing reaches this idiot. He is surrounded by three other animals, who, arms crossed, give her a desperate look.

“Okay mister squirrel. Today, I need you. I know that you are good at infiltrating and you are. The only animal of your level that I have on hand for the moment, you know, times are tough and. well, I don't mean it was less so before, but I mean. well… you’re the only one who can keep me company.” She felt like a crazy person talking to this squirrel as she grabbed some more herbs and plants and tucked them away. She truly was bored beyond imagination.

She could probably tear her hair out with all this deliberation going on in her mind. She held the squirrel up by its neck as if he lacked air. She give him a questioning look. Now the squirrel who had taken her interest had let go of her and joined his compatriots, standing in front of her. While the squirrel was looking for his words like a fool who tries to explain the meaning of international peace as well as long-term inter-territorial economic agreements, the squirrel who she gave imaginary importance to her just squeaked away. “Okay maybe I asked you for too much,” she told the squirrel, “I’ll let you go now.” She sighed and booted the squirrel so that it flew a couple dozen yards and then she got back to gathering. She was nearly done now. A couple more minutes was all she needed to meet her quota. Finally her teammate showed up a couple minutes later. He was just in time to get the fuck home with her. That was a good thing because he had also gathered all he was supposed to gather by now. That meant she didn’t have to wait for him and waste even more time.

On the way back home, they discussed things of her partner’s interests. He said that scientists have found what they call a cure for weakness. If you take one of these pills, your muscle mass would grow three times and your power would be greatly affected. At the beginning, they let it go, thinking that it could be useful to them, but it takes on a scale that they do not can they afford to…. And lo and behold, he too gets lost in his words. She clear her throat and feel the side of her body with her right hand. I'm looking for her flask of alcohol. But where is she? she look around, desperate look. The man on the far left looks at her with a mocking smile. On his pelvis… her flask !? she give him a disgusted look and finally spoke up. “Come on, give it back.” Then he laughed. She couldn’t evne remember when he had snatched it off of her.

She cast a desperate look around her. If he wanted her to fight, she’d do it! She made a movement to attack him, but without being able to explain to you why, she suddenly find herself on her ass, in the woods, with all the questioning looks of young onlooking travelers. She send them a finger of honor by standing up and grumbling. She snatched the flask back and put it away. She didn’t even need it, but it was hers. So she felt it was only right to take it back. They spent the rest of the time in silence. It wasn’t like she really wanted to talk to him anymore anyways. A couple hours later and she arrived back home and then went to bed.

It was fortunate that she didn’t have to do much to get this thing started off. The person she was with simply guided her to the right area now that she had arrived at the start point. Now they could just gather as much as they wanted without getting bothered. It was unfortunate that the surrounding area didn’t look too healthy but it wasn’t a real concern of hers. She just wanted to do all her gathering and go home. Nothing was wrong with that right? She hoped not. The weak sunlight which pierced between the clouds seemed to contemplate the peaceful sleep of the two gatherers. She had just finished her initial trip and fell asleep after waking up her partner. A bird was perched on a branch to observe the surroundings with the others. The three of them could detect any intruder. Her partner had imposed watchtowers in order to put the young people in rhythm but also because he did not want them to think he was negligent and stupid. If it had been up to him, they could all have slept on their two ears for long hours while a few crows watched the surroundings, and again.

Would he have bothered to use them? The fact is he had to and he wanted to be exemplary so hadn't really had a choice. A small fawn passed five meters from the two sleeping travelers. She stopped for ten seconds to observe these strange quadrupeds then set out again in the darkness of the forest. She watched, impatient. But the dark spaces between the trees did not particularly attract his attention, she preferred to look at her partners and to listen. In a few minutes others were dozing. She jumped from her high perch to land on the ground in calculated silence. She carefully approached the sleeping faces and she could hear another doing the same. One of her teammates had a pet viper who opened her mouth, revealing incredibly sharp fangs. A small drop of poison fell on the ground in anticipation, right in front of the dozing person’s nose, and a second drop did the same on the side of a weapon that was held out under the poison. The liquid released a light gas powerful enough to keep someone in a stable sleep and light enough for a simple physical contact to wake up the person.

She knew it was not very respectful to them, but she and her partner had to be absolutely certain that there was no risk of them waking up at the wrong time. Done, they walked away from the camp. Arrived at a good distance he looked around him one last time. Finally she stretched out his arm and she stretched out. The day had gone pretty well so far. It was but the first part of her list of tasks for the day in order to get paid, but she had done what she could, with her partner, in order to keep the area safe. Her job today was to… she looked into her instructions to make sure she knew for sure. There was a rumor that a handful of bad guys, like ten of them in total so that meant that there could be a whole gang of people to beat up or maybe they’d find them one by one. There really was no telling when you were out and about looking for trouble. She let out a massive sigh, not wanting to do much of anything but she was forced to by her incessant need for money. Too much money.

She didn’t even want to think about how much more money she needed. She crossed a bridge, leaving the young people under her partner’s protection. She had to train again and again. Though she hardly had the time or energy to train right now. She had a job to do so she got to it. The next town was visible on the horizon, she had almost arrived at their destination. Near her destination she met up with a group of people that also wanted to work with her so she accepted their help. It was nice to be in a place where people were willing to help the greater good when it came down to protecting one’s surrounding areas from bandits and the like. And here they are descending their last mountain after four good days of walking, each more boring than the other, although the company of the two young people brightens up her days. She took advantage of their last moment together to refresh their memories. “Remember, they do not talk about their respective techniques to these foreigners and they do not mention the names of the law enforcement around here.” It was a tidbit she’d picked up on her journey so far.

Then the most important thing: they came to be like good old friends, they are courteous, they don't hesitate to introduce ourselves, they don't lie as much as possible and they let her speak. The people in the area entrusted her with a job like this she would do it her way. Of course, her basic rules are still valid. There will be no fight so sorry if you were hoping to compete against real opponents but it will not be this time. At worst she could always grant your wish during the return trip if she had been very wise. She and her partners had understood very well and seemed not to be determined to break any rule. As soon as she received the order to proceed, she had thought about the simplest way to carry it out. The short trip from her superior’s office to the stairs of the same building had given her time to work out her plan (it must be said that she had walked very slowly). Everything was calculated. She just hoped that the welcome would be warm, or at least not too cold. She definitely expected resistance though. What job would be a job without conflict?

The trio had stopped in the forest. It was time, she was getting very tired, and then night fell anyway. As much as she could run very fast for short distances, as much walking for kilometers literally exhausted her. Her partner decided that they would do watchtowers. And whoever was chosen to start was. Of course it was her. It didn't matter, anyway, she mostly needed to rest her legs, which she had so much in demand today. Her last night had passed without a hitch, she still didn't want to sleep. She didn't need a lot of sleep. just a little, but fairly regularly, otherwise she couldn't hold on. His companions fell asleep. she was very serious when the lives of her teammates were at stake. She remained standing, so as not to risk falling asleep. The others had been asleep for a few minutes when she heard a rustling of leaves behind her. There was someone. A very slight movement noise had made him spot. She was on her guard. She turned. Within seconds, she found herself in a defensive position, stick in hand. Man she couldn’t find a better weapon than that? That was not a good sign if there was going to be a fight.

She was looking straight at the source of the noise she had heard. The figure had moved closer, and was now six yards from her, and ten from the two sleepers. This is where she noticed. a tiger. Its black fur strewn with red / golden hairs, made it almost imperceptible to the eye. He came a few yards closer, and he and she were staring at each other. She was surprised to see a tiger here. This feline didn't seem to want to harm them. But maybe it was a ruse. she tried a kai, as a precaution. Her eyesight did not change. The tiger was real. She watched him from every angle, the tiger did the same. Both were unmoved. None of them moved. The tiger must have been forty, fifty centimeters at one end, and 1 meter in length. He had golden eyes, which were staring at her. He was beautiful. As beautiful as. as. Her mother when she looked at her and smiled at her. Then, as quickly as it had arrived, the tiger left. she wanted to try to follow him, but his companions could not remain alone. So she waited, and still standing, thinking about what had just happened.

She continued to think, while listening to the surroundings. She yawned. It was time for another teammate to take his turn, it was time. She sat down next to him and lightly pressed his shoulder. Her friend woke up immediately. “It's your turn, it seems to me. You'll think of waking the next one, huh? Don't do the rest of the night all by yourself.” He answered her, and she went to bed warm. She watched him for a while, then succumbed to the fatigue she had accumulated during the journey. It was black. Obviously, she did not see it. But at one point, she began to dream. Her dream was weird. So much so that she remembered it the next day. She saw her partner and a golem, from behind, accompanied by her friends. At one point, they turned around and motioned for her. It was then that she noticed a figure by his side. which looked like that of a big cat. She turned her head and saw the tiger she had seen during her shift. He was purring. His then approached them, and caressed the tiger. She did the same. Her hair was soft. She really felt like touching it. it was very fine and smooth.

The tiger followed them as she followed their lead. They were heading for the forest. this is where the dream changed. Without warning. she was in a deep forest, and she called the tiger by "Kuki". He was far away. she saw nothing. Not even his hands. Then it was black. Black in her dream. She heard the voices of her dream. then everything went out. The next day they got up and left in the direction of their destination. They saw the bandit outskirts, when one of her teammates started speaking up. She nodded, then took the opportunity to share her dream with her teammates. “Yesterday, while I was on my watch, I saw a tiger. He approached, and I tried to make sense of it all, but it was not an illusion. then he left.” She related what had happened, but after all, maybe her two companions were not yet asleep and had seen the scene. In this case, she was very annoyed, because she remembered having already mentioned her affection for animals to her friends. Maybe she would tell them about her dream one day. But right now, she was trying to focus on the job. See, they had just stumbled upon a camp of sorts outside the town.

“That’s gotta be them,” she muttered to her teammates, pointing at a group of bandits that were clearly cohorting. They had weapons, looked horrible, and had dried blood all over their gear. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to be the bandits terrorizing the area?” she asked bravely as she ran up to them. They sneered at her. “And if we are?” they asked back almost in unison. “Then I’m going to have to take you all in for being bandits I guess.” “You and what army?” they asked again. “No army, just me and a couple teammates. This can be easy, or painful. It’s really your call.” She gritted her teeth, took a few moments to think, then jumped into the fray. She couldn’t do much on her own but her teammates were more than capable of getting work done. They leapt into action, using attacks that she herself would never be able to use. Within minutes about five of the enemies had been dispatched.

Two were considerably powerful but they were squashed under the weight of a summon that was called into battle. The other used some fire attack but he was likewise squelched by a pet with the ability to use water.

The weaker ones were her business. She leapt at them, taking plenty of damage in the process, but she managed to beat them back more or less one by one as she used her environment to her advantage. She threw rocks, leapt from behind to strangle someone, and then used basic hand to hand combat to dispatch the other few. In the end, they had wrangled up a good number of these bandits but half of them seemed to have split up and headed for the hills. Maybe they knew just how poorly they would do or maybe they ahd something more important to do in the meant time. Either way that just meant that they were just going to be hunted down. They had better enjoy their last few hours of peace and tranquility. From what she knew, all these bandits were ordered to be killed, not captured, if necessary. And that was one order she was more than happy to fulfil. She could never admit that, because that would label her as a baddie, but she could keep those feelings inside and not have to worry about getting caught. Unless someone around here could read minds or something like that.

Her teammate went on and on but when he had finished speaking, completely changing the subject, she told him about his adventure from last night. Her partner restrained himself so as not to react too quickly. He rolled his eyes, watching his pensive friend. “It's only very strange that you didn't tell me about it. I stayed up all night. But now I understand, I know you all too well. For me, facing every situation whatever it is, a good jobber must act accordingly. And the way you acted did not seem to me to be the most appropriate. However, this is a very good reflex, because many experienced travelers make the mistake of not thinking about it, including myself at times, but in her case it's different. However, you made a mistake. It doesn't matter, you're here to learn. This tiger could have been a summoned animal went on a scout to find easy prey for its master. You know the outside world a little better than you two and know that it harbors much more harm than one dares to believe. In short, All that to say that you should have woken us up immediately. There are things more important than sleep.

Whatever… her partner smiled at she to reassure her. It was true that this job was difficult and that the youth of his teammates too, but he absolutely wanted to build positive links between them. “In conclusion I would say that this tiger must not want to harm us otherwise we would have reacted for you. If it was silent it is to spare you this annoying little speech.” When he stopped speaking a great silence settled within the team. He looked at the young ones. She looked at the ground and maintained her silence, she was ashamed. She blamed herself for causing so much worry for her new teammates. Trying to catch up, he resumed with a slightly forced good humor because it was unusual for him. “but that's okay let's see. It is normal that you make this kind of mistake, even experiences people make it. And then you are there to learn. Excuse her if I'm a little harsh or on the nerves at times.” Then the boy ruffled her hair until it was in a sorry state. Paradoxically, he hoped to get the girl out of her dark thoughts. Besides they had other stuff to worry about for now.

The fact of the matter was that they were quickly nearing the next hideout. The bandits that had escaped had fallen back onto this little hideout and now they were about to get busted. Someone was able to sense that they were there, so she and her teammates and taken point around the camp. It was nearly time to go in balls deep. They rushed in at the same time and were blown backwards by preset explosives. She could barely see anything with all the smoke that resulted from the explosions but had somehow not been effected. She saw a barrier fall around her. Damn, that meant someone had saved her from a fate that probably would have been death. She breathed heavily and looked to see that one of her teammates was dead, impaled by some large rod. Well that was some absolute garbage. She was getting worried. Were these the top dogs of the bandit group that were going to put an end to her? She only had one teammate left and she didn’t think that they had a chance. What could she do really against this kind of power and foresight? She had to take them by surprise.

She shouted at them, “Hey, what are you doing blowing us up like that!? You’re just asking for the death penalty!” One shouted back, “shut the hell up and leave us alone or die!” “Oh… I was afraid you’d say that,” she said with a grimace. But that was hardly the end of the world or anything. She walked up to the hideout and shouted “Give me what you owe!” and then glared at the person who opened the door. They weren’t all that friendly. They looked at her and didn’t want anything to do with her. They started forming some attack but she punched one in the gut and made one of the underlings hand over some money with shaky hands which she took gratefully before marching down to join her partners. “Anyways, I guess we can discuss it another time. Not a big deal. So, how long are you staying in town? Got any plans while you’re here?” She was always looking for new friends anyways so she hoped he was going to stick around for a while.”

This was one of many odd things to discuss in the middle of a fight, but she had to do it for the sake of finding something to do. With these simple words she was able to discuss a battle plan and ended up sneaking into the hideout under his friend's cover to remain nonexistent in the eyes of the outside world and she broke her usual strategy to try something a little more daring, alone. From now on she would carry out her job in secrecy, always waiting for the right moment to finish off the rest of the bad guys. She was successful in travelling through a back door and catching the rest of them by surprise, collapsing the entire building on top of them while she jumped out through a window. Now that was what she called a fun time. She grinned as everything came crumbling down like it ought to after putting in all that hard work. She could finally rest easy knowing that her job was completed and that she would be rewarded for it. She wanted to be happy, but the death of one of her comrades was never really a happy thing now was it?

They mourned, well not her really since she didn’t really know these other two like she should have. They were more or less strangers here to do the same things she was here to do so in the end she could care less. But she put on a show for appearance’s sake and was able to bury the body. Finally, the two remaining jobbers embarked on the main road leading to the town to collect their pay, showing themselves clearly to the eyes of the inhabitants of the area and its surroundings. Her partner led the team to the center of the town. He was waiting to meet someone with a traveler’s gear, which happened quickly. The man in question made a brief movement of recoil when he saw that the man who had just intercepted him wearing all the debris on their clothes. He nevertheless stopped his speeches. “I am the one in charge of this task. She and I completed what we promised. As you can see we had to put up quite a fight. Don't worry, they couldn't be more peaceful. they just came to hear from you to see what kind of payment you will be giving us.”

Her partner gave a warm smile, just showing himself relaxed in front of his boss. "Oh, that's right. You should have been more careful. Are you sure you got all of them? I should have called for stronger help if you lot had this much difficulty. My preferred mercenaries would have scared them away as soon as they arrived. Why didn't I think about it? Why did I think there was no danger just by doing what I was suggested to do? Why didn't I do anything else?” He was like talking to himself in front of them and she wasn’t really interested in asking what his deal was. She just wanted to get her money.l She got distracted. She will have to be more careful next time. Instead of inspecting everything and waiting, she will have to act. Yes. She had to be more careful next time. She risked the lives of her teammates. Who knows, if she hadn’t been able to sneak attack like she had done she wouldn’t have survived, most likely. She would have just been another body and she would have never been able to spend all that money. It was a sad time indeed.

She made a grimacing pout and bowed her head. She was ashamed of not having thought about it earlier. She was sulking. Not against her thoughts, but against herself. It was not her first task like this, and yet she wanted not to make a mistake. She did not want to risk the lives of her companions. Otherwise she would feel remorse. Even if it was nothing, she didn't want to. A life, a body, it's too precious to be put aside, too important to be forgotten. She wanted to be forgiven for her lack of judgment. So she spoke, in a very small voice. So weak that she wondered if they would hear, “sorry. Whatever. Can you just pay us and let us go? You owe us at least that much. Or, if you don’t want to pay us there’s always the chance that I hunt you down. You know how people can be when they don’t get what they were promised.” She didn’t think that threatening this guy would do her any good. But she had to do something because the conversation wasn’t going anywhere fast. And she didn’t want to be here when word broke out that one of them had died.

She stopped for a few moments, then sat down as her partner and the hirer got into yet another argument. She rummaged in her thoughts, and found only one or two things that she wanted to spend all her money on. Neither would have truly made her happy but it was worth thinking about at least. The girl lifted her hair and tied it in a ponytail, so that no one sees that she was disheveled. Then she resumed her thinking. She had a couple ideas for dinner, but that wasn’t really what she should have been thinking about at this moment. But they soon wrapped up this conversation. It was wrapped up, because someone had come to crash the party. It was one of the bandits. He was still alive. She’d just assumed he died in the huge explosion or the building collapse but he was very much alive. He had come for revenge. For blood, for glory, to prove to the people around him that they still had to fear him because he was strong enough to survive any mercenaries they sent after him to send him to the afterlife. But oh boy was he mistaken. Things didn’t turn out the way he wanted.

Without any warning the populace simply mobbed him. Pots, pans, sticks, swords, they attacked him relentlessly for all the damage he had caused and all the lives he had lost. Really, she didn’t have to do jack shit about him because the people were doing it themselves. It wasn’t like the bandit could fight back. He was barely clinging on to life as is. “Thanks for showing up,” she called to him as she collected her pay. She smiled as she deposited all the money into her purse and then skipped off into the town, putting the sounds of agony behind her. She didn’t really care what became of that man, so long as she had a nice warm meal ahead of her. Her partner met up with her for a couple drinks afterwards and then she just retired to a hotel room because she had little else to do. She didn’t want to go doing something dumb like gambling all her money away. Finally she fell asleep to the ruckus of all the music on the first floor of the building. She’d already expended all her energy so it was unlikely she would have enjoyed it anyway after all that.

Ivara had always had a home with her parents. Sometimes she stayed at an apartment she rented, and sometimes at an inn. Being employed meant she could really stay wherever the fuck she wanted to stay. That was a good thing, most of the time. It meant that she was able to keep herself occupied and change things up. Dates could just be ditched as she did her own thing. Boys that sought after her could be abandoned in the blink of an eye. She really relished this power over the men in the area that she had and she was always ready to fool them for her amusement. None of them were really suitable to her in terms of forming a lasting relationship. That was probably why she acted the way she did… but that wasn’t really the topic at hand. The point was, she never knew what it liked to never have a home of her own. When she'd traveled around through the various areas with her companions, with all of her meager, worldly belongings stuffed in an oversized sack, even then she hadn't been planning to buy one. She didn’t know how else to travel because it had always been enough.

So, it was for this reason that she didn’t know what exactly she wanted to do today. She had a list of missions and jobs she could go on, but she hadn’t really bit the bullet. She couldn’t figure out if she wanted to spend the day finding more bandits, or if she wanted to go about doing her own thing.

Everyone needed a couple days of nice relaxation now and then. She'd thought that as usual, she'd find a place in town to see about renting, to change locations. Since she'd recently come into a bit of money from her recent jobs, she thought she could even afford to rent a nice bungalow in a nicer part of town now. It would have been a sizeable step up from the plain and drafty place she was currently hiding out in just to keep low. It wasn’t like she needed to keep low but… sometimes the attention was more than she could bear. She liked to have at least a little bit of privacy. She thought long and hard about what she really wanted to get out of the day. Unsurprisingly, she picked money which was pretty much all she wanted right now.

She looked around the area. From what she understood, it was a small, pretty and peaceful place, in a beautiful setting besides. The idea had appealed to her, living away from the busy noise, the hustle and bustle of a larger place. She could probably slip away and take a nap right here and now. Even now, as she thought about it, she felt her eyes get heavy like they’d done earlier. This really was too much for her to deal with. She just wanted to… to… she fell asleep. Great. As she dreamt about unicorns prancing through a meadow her alarm went off again and she didn’t even realize it. By the time she woke up it was nearly noon. “Well I guess I can throw my plans for the day in the garbage,” she said with a grunt. She shook her head and looked around. Ah right, she had left off at getting breakfast. She was hungrier now more than ever so she walked over and got a couple fruits and munched on them as she got dressed. Soon enough she was ready to head out for the day and do that task she had been hired to do.

She was on task to go eliminate some bandits. She’d just gone on an adventure like this before, but she didn’t think about that all too much. She tried to ignore the lack of variety that she had in her tasks and simply thought of the payout. They all paid the same, and that was the important part. She recalled this thing taking place in the local area so she bustled out the door and headed off into the streets. Bandits, bandits, she thought as she pulled out a map. The sightings were conveniently marked on her map so all she had to do was go investigate. Last time, she’d had help. So this time she was going to be doing her best to… not get caught or anything stupid like that. If she could manage it, she would make absolutely sure that nobody got in her way or something like that today. If she could just keep low and out of the way… she grimaced, wondering if she really could do such a thing. She wasn’t exactly a stealthy ninja or anything. She was just a regular girl more or less without the capacity to do any of that hardcore stealth stuff.

First thing was first to start off a good morning. She needed some tea. She went into a tea shop and came face to face with someone she’d met in the past on many occasions. “Hey there, how are you doing?” she would ask with a smile on her face. She went over to the register to get some tea then she took a seat next to him. She’d known that he was in the area but to happen unto the exact tea shop that he was in was quite convenient. “Sorry it’s been a while. I took a little break so I haven’t been doing as many of these jobs as I should be.”

She looked down at the tea she had and shook her head, “let’s take a few more minutes. There’s a traffic jam out there so we might as well wait for that to subside. How’s it going back in your home town?” She tapped her foot and looked out the window. Sure enough, people were getting that taken care of. But then she just felt awkward. She’d little to ask of him so she waved the young waitress over so that she could pay her bill. Once that was taken care of, she said, “alright, let’s get out of here.”

She eventually made her way outside and started her little journey. Within a half hour she came across what was believed to be a bandit hideout. She peered inside through a window after sidestepping their shitty perimeter defenses then saw a couple people inside. She'd seen the house, and had thought she would investigate it and maybe keep it in tact in case someone around here owned it. But that was before she'd seen the stone cottage at the edge of the village. This was the interesting one. She knew that it was more or less a ruse and just there to be more mysterious. The actual hideout was more or less inconspicuous. If there weren’t reports of some horrible looking people going in and out at times then she would have never even had this intel to begin with. In any case, she looked into the home again and confirmed that there were about five people in it. It took her a while to figure out where the traps were, and all that jazz but in the end she just decided to collapse the whole building. How she was going to do that was by targeting the main structural supports of the building itself, if she could figure out what those were.

She crept around the building, remaining more or less unseen by anyone within the house. She couldn’t help but feel like she was being watched though as she mentally labeled all the structural supports that she could see. See the building wasn't for rent, but there was a sign in the yard, declaring the building for sale. From the front, the whimsical home with its two stories and stonework, looked quite small. It was narrow, side to side but as she was soon to discover, when viewed from one end to the other, it was much longer. Deceptively so, since it was nestled in a small grove of old shade trees. She made quick work of going around and actually destroying the supports. She used a big hammer that she found in the yard and before long the whole house was crumbling down. The people trapped inside, well those bandits were nothing but pure debris by now. She drug them out one by one afterwards and confirmed each of their identity to the list of people on her list. Bad guys needed to be disposed of, right? She grimaced, wondering if she really felt like that or if she felt the exact opposite.

When all that was said and done, what really captivated her however was the small pond around the home. It was almost like a moat that hadn’t been fully completed. She could only imagine what kind of gators they could have kept in there, or worse. But that was enough of that. She had a whole list of bandits that needed dealing with that wasn’t going to complete by just standing around and thinking about miniature moats. Or maybe it was only a small pond in the front, with a little island of stone rimmed grass in the center. A place to plant a pretty garden with a bench, there was a sort of free standing weather vane there. A whimsically fashioned one wrought from copper or bronze maybe. She didn't really know her metals. She was enchanted by the miniature moat all the same. She had to force herself to stop thinking about it and moved on. The next bandit hideout wasn’t too far away and if they had any sense of awareness they would know she was coming this time. She had to act carefully and without hesitation as she neared her next destination. It was only just around the corner.

This time, they were ready for her. The enemies she faced had the ability to conjure fire, among other things, and they really put up a fight. She bobbed and weaved, leapt and dashed, dodging all of their attacks in unison as they really weren’t the crème of the crop as they were made out to be. They had difficulty matching her speed which was only one of the problems. They also didn’t know that other people were going to be coming soon and that trying to outlast their attacker was not going to do them very well in the long run. If they weren’t so cocky, they could have run and made this whole task a big pain in the ass. But they didn’t. They kept firing off attacks without a care in the world. They didn’t even anticipate her plan of simply wearing them out. She'd been a child with a very big imagination back then, and she'd often daydreamed, imagining the keep during it's glory days, with bright colored banners all along the walls, snapping merrily in the breeze. Those had been the good times. She just wanted to sit and reminisce as she reacalled her training sessions that looked very much like this very fight.

She waltz around the battlefield as buildings crumbled around her. She had no problem dodging from this distance, that had already been established. She felt like she was a princess in her dreams then, and her powers unmatched by these lowly bandits. She pictured something in her mind that had always been filled to the brim with clear and cool blue water, and there were never fewer than a dozen swans bobbing along on its surface. She had to push those dreamy thoughts from her mind as she nearly got scorched by a fire whip. She panted a little. “They’re not tired yet?” she didn’t want to have to tackle them head on but by her calculations there was little to nothing she could do to take them all on at once. It made her angry, just a little, to realize that they were outlasting her, not the other way around. But in the distance she saw some people approaching. She shouted “my backup is here!” as a bluff and the bandits turned around. It gave her the chance to leap at them and tackle the gnarliest looking one, putting him in a full nelson. “Alright fight’s over.” She said confidently.

They weren’t as easy to dismiss as she thought they would be though. One even shot a beam of energy at her which she had to duck under or her head would come clean off. The beam of energy shot right through her hostage and killed him. “Well, so much for loyalty” she said with a grumble. She was going to have to fight this gang and she didn’t like her odds. And she didn’t think that she had a shot at bringing down this building like she had the last one. This place wasn't a castle, but it still stood strong and had a lot more fortifications. Perhaps they had made some last minute modifications upon hearing that their other base was destroyed by a single person. These guys had a moat though, not that it had deterred her from simply leaping over it to get here. The moat was hardly a proper one in the scheme of things, and the lone duck paddling round in circles looking for minnows was hardly a swan. None of it was even very practical. She gritted her teeth and looked around. There were others coming, but she feared they would be too late.

She tried to stall by talking about something unrelated. “so you know, we don’t have to fight. We could all go eat some dinner. Wouldn’t that be nice? Ill even treat you guys to it.” To which they responded, “you’ll treat us to it. Over your dead body after we take what money you have on you.” They burst out laughing which was pretty much what she wanted, “how about I offer to pay you some money from my bank? We just need to go take a trip. It’d be worth it because I don’t have very much on me.” She could tell that she had their interest, but the person in charge shook his head. He wasn’t buying her little stall tactics. “I don’t know who you’re waiting on but…” then the ceiling bust open. People swarmed in from the rooftop. She didn’t know them personally but she guessed they were on the same kind of job she was on. Eliminating bandits. The distraction was just what she needed, she thought, as she jumped into action before the bad guys could even get their heads screwed on straight. She couldn’t have asked for better timing from her unexpected heroes.

The unexpected entrance aside, she still had a job to do. She had to make sure that every last one of these bandits had been dealt with. To some degree the intruders helped. They caused the distraction and they even wrangled up a few of the bandits. But the ones they captured were for their own benefit. They could care less that her job was to deal with ALL the bandits so there were still a good number for her to dispatch on her own. She ran after them all, grabbing and smashing them into the ground as best she could. She was happy that she was able to at least do this much because without all this she was going to be a very poor and sad person when all things were said and done. But at that moment, she knew that she wouldn't be handling this perfectly sensible situation nearer the middle of the village, and that she'd be spending most of what she'd earned in this job to end up feeding herself. She hurried up and dispatched the remainder of the bandits and carried them off to a place far away where they couldn’t hurt anyone again.

Two days later, she was back and ready to move onto the final part of her task. But this time, she hadn't come all on her own. She'd brought her best attitude with her today as she was going to have to weed out the leader of the bandits. He was the only one who had escaped her the other day and she had finally done enough digging to find out where he was hiding out. Her intel told her that he was in some stone cottage at the edge of the woods and that he'd had very little in the way of possessions. So meager were they, that they could hardly have been remotely considered worldly. But she'd realized very quickly, and certainly she'd been naive not to have known it before hand, that while houses often came with furnishings already in place, purchased ones rarely if ever did. He'd made some purchases, spending even more of the money he'd been sent by a distant relation. Though even after spending nearly all of it on this discreet home, it wouldn’t stop anyone from eventually tracking him down. Such was the sneaky ways of someone who wasn’t doing something she was really up to doing on her own.

She approached the home but nobody was home. She took a few minutes to sit down at the doorstep. She didn’t know if she wanted to bust into the home or if she wanted to let the guy come home and see her sitting there. Or maybe she had gotten the wrong house? But she doubted it. She could see combat gear inside, the same style as the ones the other bandits had used. She sighed and stretched out her arms and legs. She could feel the suspense building up as she let every minute slowly tick by. She looked into the sky and saw that it was a clear day. Not a single cloud in the sky and there wasn’t any sun visible. Nice. She would have preferred a little bit of clouds so that she could keep the sun out of her eyes, but again, the sun wasn’t angled in her direction at the very moment. “When is this guy going to show up,” she pouted as she started getting a little drowsy. She couldn’t stay alert forever. What if someone else had taken care of the bandit? Seeds of doubt formed in her mind, reminding her that she had to get this guy.

Eventually she heard a sound off in the distance. This was a pretty secluded place so she didn’t really expect there to be a wagon coming along down the road. But it did. The wagon came bumbling down the road piloted by the very bandit that she was sent after. It was pulled along by some horses. The horses had brown fur and long manes. Nobody had cared for these animals, that was apparent just by their tattered appearance. The wagon was full of stuff. No doubt stuff that the bandit hat stolen to help fund his lifestyle. Well hopefully that was all going to be put to an end today. As soon as the driver steered his cart round the corner, she could see that the lone duck that had been paddling round the moat, had been joined by five others. They weren't ordinary ducks either, but possibly the most beautiful birds she'd ever seen. Their feathers, wings, necks and heads, were all arranged in blocks of vibrant color. Purple and gold. Blue, burnt orange. A painter might even be able to admire and appreciate that. Well, maybe that wasn’t the important part of this story. Lovely scenery aside, she had to focus on defeating this bandit when he got close enough.

Some time later, after the man got to his home the girl that would be his downfall ran over to the bushes and waited to see what he would do. He had a bunch of stuff in the wagon so he took time taking them out of the wagon and moving them into the house. He had furnishings that he moved inside and she'd seen quite a number of fancy things. Maybe he hadn’t stolen these… maybe they were his own!? She took a good look around at the home. It was narrow from front to back, but it was a good distance from one end to the other. The high ceilings both upstairs and down, with their contrasting wood beams, made it seem airier and more spacious than it might otherwise have. Downstairs, there was a parlor, a kitchen, a small bedroom and a powder room. There was even an open loft that one could use for storage, or for extra living space. She was getting jealous of this guy’s ill gotten house. It was time to act. She leapt out of her cover and burst into the home. “It’s time to go to jail, or hell!” she shouted.

Man, she had spent all that time thinking of a line to use and that was what she settled with? Well there was no time to regret her choice of words and her crappy one liner creation abilities. She was standing face to face with a notorious criminal. He looked surprised but he quickly reached over to grab a weapon. So she tackled him. They tumbled to the floor as they both wrestled to see who could get to the weapon the fastest. Of course he got to it faster but in the mean time she got a cheap shot in to his sensitive area which gave her just the edge she needed to snatch the blade away from the man and use it against him. She stabbed into him an undetermined amount of times until he stopped moving. Cruel, but it had to be done because if she showed mercy she was the one that would have a bunch of holes in her chest. She drug the body outside and then left him by the wagon. She was going to have to clean up before she headed back into town. She didn’t want to be the girl drenched in blood that everyone talked about.

She went inside and cleaned off, taking note to note everything she saw in the house as it may have been stolen. She’d tell the person who hired her about all this, of course, in case someone needed to stop by to get their stuff back. If she was really nice she would have taken the stuff all back to town but… she wasn’t feeling like it. Once she had gotten all washed off she explored the house some more. The view from the balcony provided a breathtaking view of the area, along with buildings off in the distance, in the center of town. She could have spent the rest of the day looking at the landscape laid out in front of her. But there were more pressing, and practical things she ought to be doing with her time. She walked back downstairs and drug the bandit’s body all the way back to town. She used it as proof that she had indeed taken out all the bandits she had been hired to get rid of. She got paid every single amount of money that she had been promised and that made her a happy girl. Now she could actually afford some stuff! What stuff!? She had no idea.

Once she had rid herself of the body and collected her money, she didn’t know what else to do. She still had some time to spare, she guessed. The only issue was that she didn’t have any plans. She wasn’t even hungry because all that blood wasn’t exactly appetizing. She guessed she could go back home and try to find something to do. The first thing that she had realized once she'd begun walking back home, was that she should have given more thought to where she wanted to do once getting there because once she got home she didn’t have any better luck in coming up with something to do. She ended up saying fuck it and running out of her home and off to the park where she could lay down under a tree and just relax. She was actually pretty excited to get there, but someone was in her favorite spot. Rage boiled inside her but she tried to keep calm. She wasn’t evil, certainly not enough to kill someone for being in her favorite spot. But she had no shame in going over and clearing her throat next to them. Ha, take her passive aggressiveness would ya?

She was able to make things awkward enough for the couple in her spot to end up getting up and leaving with a few angry rude words spoken under their breaths. “Yeah, just get out of here,” she told them with a smirk. She then laid down on the grass and looked up in the sky. It was starting to get more cloudy. If she had to guess, it was going to rain in a couple hours which meant that she couldn’t exactly take a nap here. Ah well, her day couldn’t be perfect now could it? She took out some paper and pen and wrote about her day, making sure to make her seem like the hero of the story. In her eyes, she was, but she guessed from the bandit’s point of view she was the villain. Maybe good and evil was all subjective? Nah, she was the good guy. She ended off her story writing about all the exciting stuff she did after the job that never actually happened. Though nobody would ever read her story let alone acknowledge it she still felt a giddy feeling as though she had fooled someone into thinking her story was the least bit interesting.

She travelled throughout the surrounding areas and made her way to a cave of sorts. She had no idea where her partner had gone off to but this was all fine and well. She looked at her instructions and she noted that she was supposed to go into some caves so she thought she could manage going off on some kind of adventure. She smiled and marched on in. She could hear something moving around in there, saw the glimpse of a creature’s tail. She was getting all suspenseful and went after some of those creatures. She was ready to get a big one! Though she came up empty handed. So much for that job. She wandered over to the nearest town. With a big old stretch and a groan that made her emit a loud, “ughghhghhghhgggg” sound from her mouth she clambered up on top of a rock. She looked at a slip of paper that detailed the surrounding area and could see a surprisingly large number of icons that symbolized flowers around the area. She wasn’t someone who cared for the beauty of nature itself, but she did want to nab some flowers to maybe put in her hair or something like that. Maybe she could use them for a quick buck bac home? She smirked and her imagination went a little wild. Maybe she’d meet someone up here.

She walked around the area, wondering if she was in the right place. She felt like she was walking into another world. As she kept walking along she could see other people in this place and decorations were becoming more and more common. She couldn’t help but feel… inadequate in terms of dress. So many people were dressed like there was a festival of sorts around here but she couldn’t help but feel like she’d wandered into some kind of strange cult event. Maybe there was someone around here that could explain what was going on to her!? Or at least, she hoped they could. Before long she had forgotten the entire reason she had come to this area. She had been on some kind of job, mission, whatever and now she was here at the entrance of a large garden. She felt so… out of place. But she couldn’t turn back now. She was drawn to this place as if it had a hold over her mind. The allure of a nice walk through a garden was more than she could resist right now. She looked around expectantly, hoping to find someone she could enjoy a nice walk with. But why would anyone she knew be around here?

She’d managed to make her way around the gardens on her own so far. She had waited for someone to show up but that’d been a waste of time. Now all she wanted to do was find something to do. Before long she saw a man holding a kebab in one hand. It looked tasty. How had she missed those!? She heard him challenge people to a race to the center of some maze. She shrugged and stepped forward, “I’ll race you,” she said confidently, “if you really think you can beat me,” she said with a smirk. “Just say when, and we’ll start!’ After running around and having fun for some time she got hungry and thirsty. She wandered into a place that had to be a tavern based on the smells. She heard something about a drinking contest. That wasn’t exactly what she had in mind, but she thought she might as well participate. There was no reason not to, right? She had earned a lot of money recently and this was exactly the excuse to drink that she needed. She saw someone that she had met before, a woman she had met in a village one time. She walked up to her and said, “hey! Long time no see!”

It was a short lived conversation but whatever. She wasn’t here to spectate on conversations she was just here to observe and enjoy. She’d already pretty much done everything she had come out here to do, she realized. There was a nice view and she took in the summer flowers, many of which must have taken all spring to set up. She pulled out a flask and opened the top. A trickle of crystallized water came out of the flask onto her two hands, until it formed two small pools of water in her hands. Then, she sent them simultaneously towards her face, and down her throat. The refreshing liquids hit their targets, and the woman grunted. A few seconds later, she rubbed her hands in order to remove the cold water that should now itch. God she was just burning time at this point. She now had it on his tongue and, while spilling large amounts of water, which might suggest that she wasn’t as thirsty as she thought she was. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw more people who were taking advantage of this moment to get closer views of the scenery. She wouldn't let her jealousy show since she wasn’t really in an ideal spot for spectating.

It wasn’t long before it was time to leave her current spot and walk on over to another spot. Supposedly she could go to this new area and enjoy it and there was going to be options for a hot air balloon ride to another spot. That would be fun. She really had nothing else to do so she just went with the flow. She felt like a tourist, which she pretty much was at this point, and she let the crowds dictate where she was. She hardly had a chance to enjoy the scenery amongst the crowd as it moved like water, almost. She decided not to focus on the scenery and more on the people around her. She saw a man doing some shady stuff. With the tip of the index finger, he tapped the side of a girl's neck, which collapsed. She would probably wake up in a few moments, but he hoped to have enough time to complete the task of robbing her purse. Then, this done, he turned around, ready to run, only to come face to face with her who now displayed a monstrous hatred for the man. “You’re kidding me right,” she asked as she helped the girl up and gave her purse back.

What to do, what to do? She had another job ahead of her today but she couldn’t help but feel like she needed to waste some time before going off on another adventure. So she started off her day rolling out of bed and face planting onto the floor. Great. That’s exactly how she imagined she would spend her first waking minutes of the day. She groaned, unsure if she had the willpower to get up after that epic fail. She used her arms to crawl her way to the bathroom in which she let out a omega level yawn that made her entire body shake just a little. She looked back into her bedroom and saw that her couch was a mess. It was upholstered in fine fabric, in a deep jewel like teal color, and the wood frame ornately carved, the couch was an impractical thing and she knew it. But she also had loved it from the moment she'd seen it. It wasn't new, but second, or even third or fourth hand. She still liked it all the same, even if most people didn’t. She didn’t have the most expensive stuff in the world so she cared little about what people thought about her bedroom.

She looked at herself in the mirror next. Her hair was a mess which was something only solvable with a shower. She hopped into the tub after the water got hot enough and enjoyed massaging soap onto her skin. She enjoyed her soft skin and was hopeful that someone out there was envious of her, though she didn’t know why anyone would be. She didn’t think of herself as beautiful or having any unnatural sort of beauty whatsoever. She sang in the bath as she rinsed off all the soap and nearly slipped on the wet floor with all her exuberance. She caught her self on the shower curtain and ended up falling, ripping the curtain from the curtain rod and even tearing the curtain rod from its supports. She ended up flailing around and crashing through her bathroom door screaming like a madman, eventually crashing onto the floor almost unable to move at all. She wiggled free, slowly but surely, until she was finally out of all that mess she’d made. She wanted to just leave the house and go on her way but… she figured she had to clean up the mess she’d made before doing anything else.

Great. Cleaning. Just what she wanted to do to start off her day. At least SHE was clean after all that. She figured the first thing was to untangle her shower curtain from itself. It was a chore but she didn’t want to have to buy another one. She’d picked this one out just the way she liked it, you see, so there really was no incentive to just toss it out. She worked the many knots that had formed during her stupid activities and once that was over she laid the curtain out neatly on the ground. Now she had to make sure her door was okay. It seemed alright. The only problem was that she damaged the latch so now the door didn’t actually latch shut. She grimaced. She didn’t know how to fix this. She had to call out to one of her neighbors and have them give her advice. They suggested she take a hammer and use it to hit the latch so that it would go back into place. Yeah, like she had a hammer just lying around. She was not the kind of person to keep a bunch of tools lying about let alone a hammer.

She decided to say fuck it and just leave the house. She didn’t even want to know how trashed her bathroom was so she just said “I’mma head out” and just got dressed with the bare minimums. She then left and started walking down the street. She didn’t even know what she was going to do today. She decided she might as well get a job, or a mission, whatever you wanted to call it. She headed over to a shack where different posters were hanging with various tasks and she tore one down that basically would have her acting as a tax collector for some period of time. “this looks interesting, I guess,” she muttered under her breath as she looked over the details. It had a list of people who didn’t pay their taxes and she was supposed to go collect the money and return it to the local government. That seemed simple enough, so long as they didn’t put up a fight or anything. She smiled and thought about just keeping all the money, but she decided against it. Maybe she would feel differently after she had all that money in her pocket though, at least she thought.

She had to push those thoughts from her mind. She realized that she was probably going to get hunted down if she did something that asinine. A shopkeeper, having spotted her interest, had told her that the wares he had belonged to one royalty in the past, having been custom made for a queen. She wasn't gullible. She didn't really believe. But she'd wanted it nonetheless, thinking that it would be the perfect piece to place upstairs in the place where she planned to paint. The light was perfect there. Then she'd discovered a rat's nest, and the very large rat that went with it. In spite of her squeals and ordered shouts from atop the chair that she'd taken refuge on, the cats around the neighborhood couldn’t be bothered. A couple dogs gave it a good try. But they were so large and ungainly, that mostly they just collided with each other, tripped over the trash cans and finally took refuge hiding from the rats. She didn’t have to take care of this problem but she felt obliged to. She didn’t want to live in a neighborhood infested with rats or anything so she might as well take some kind of action. She set some traps and then kept going on her way.

She groaned as she walked along. The feeling of having to go actually do work was really the worst possible feeling. The designer of this job was probably Satan, in body and spirit. Who the hell could have come up with the idea of inventing a machine capable of waking up a dead person? What was the point? She turned around in her neighborhood and closed her eyes, trying to ignore the sun which pierced through the leaves. If the sun's rays had managed to disturb her this much, it could only mean one thing: She was late! She ran over to find out that she was far too late to even get the job that she had come for. She’d have to come back tomorrow. She marched back home, dejected. The next morning she woke up with a start. She grabbed the shirt she had thrown on the floor the day before, put it on in seconds after jumping into her pants. Passing through the bathroom, she doused his face with water and slipped her toothbrush into her mouth. She had a good number of things to prepare for her day and she was already late. How could she be late twice!?.

If this delay was still exceptional, he could have left with a clear conscience but unfortunately for her, it was not the case. She was indeed provided with this rare and useless gift which allowed her to arrive, whatever the circumstances were late for her appointment. She ended up getting used to it, but that was not the case for her relatives, moreover her colleagues who lamented this aspect of h4r personality. But hey. it was so and it was not ready to change so much to do with. She closed the door of her house twice and left in the direction of the proper starting place. Barely a few meters traveled and a voice called out to him. “Hello.” She jumped: she did not expect to be caught in the act of delay and was then slightly caught off guard she nevertheless turned to face the person. He had black hair, wore a smug look and was not very tall, he was also followed by two little ones. "what do you want"?! she started again. What were strangers doing bothering her? The older man immediately answered her silent question. It was a good thing too because she was going to go on her merry way.

"We’re here for a friendly visit." “A friendly visit huh?” She probed the new arrivals. They did not seem capable of doing much in the area but, on the contrary, had relatively pleasant features. “Glad to know that. You will excuse me, but I must urgently go to an appointment which I am already late ti! I have to go so I don't waste any more time! She really hoping to find the right person when approaching this traveler. According to her forecasts, she should have left within the hour if everything went as planned. She had only one desire: to get money, to train, and to go and infiltrate the cookie store to get some free foodies. It was her only goal, the only thing that made sense of her miserable lazy life. And a simple jobhad been enough to jeopardize all of her day plans. At first she had taken the order rather well, trying to convince herself that this would be truly rewarding. And then finally the more time passed the more time she lost. Logic. Her only compensation was to have met two people he found very friendly. She sought pleasant teammates and although the simple idea of doing a job with them could never have crossed her mind.

Today she would have wanted to die without ever having really met them. Now she only wanted one thing and that was to get her task started. She knew that the job listing around here had the answers to her questions or that at worst it would be able to lead her to a person capable of providing her with all the information she wanted. She went over to the job place, followed by these travellers. She wondered why they were going in her same direction. She met up with someone at the job listings who said he was too busy and that she should have come earlier. She was really disappointed that the man wanted to slip away like that, as if he was running from trouble. Surely he was afraid to speak to strangers or he feared that their intentions were anything but pacifist. But curiously something else frustrated her even more, as if he had hoped that for a simple answer, this one would have unpacked everything they wanted to know. He could have simply told her that his leader was coming out of a bad flu and that he had just recovered and was about to send a message to apologize for his silence.

“Oh alright, I’ll tell you. Just come help me travel to the next town over. It’s simple work,” he said, “I take it you lot are here to help too?” he asked the travellers but they shook their head. Okay its just you and me then girly. Let’s get going.” So they set out to go to the next town over and were interrupted within the hour by a trio of bandits. She threw stones at them but they easily dodged by jumping to the side before falling nimbly. She ran on the ground until she reached the assailant who was holding a whip. Once within reach of the three thugs, her legs began to spin towards their three centers at superhuman speed. She exclaimed at the beginning of the use of his attack as if shouting would make her stronger. Once this technique was used, the three thugs no longer seemed able to fight in the girl’s opinion. The whip still cut the top of her garment including a cut up her chest. But she was not bleeding. Once again, the girl did not need to release the wrong part of his subconscious in order to eliminate the thugs.

Maybe she should save her energy for some time later in her job. Using everything she had up front was a godo way to burn out and not get to the end. She learned this lesson when she was young. Always keep some energy in reserves so that you can benefit from it later. The walls of the next town were finally becoming visible... She was so happy to see the town because she was oh so bored of walking with this old man who never had anything useffful to say. He mostly just complained all day and ruined her mood. It was some absolute garbage company if she had to tell the truth. But at least she had a blast thinking about all the stuff she could buy with the big payout she was going to get. Our hero in question hated to wait. This cart was incredibly slow and it had taken hours and hours to finally reach the requested village level. Not to mention the thugs who tried to stop them from passing. I say try, yes... The gods understood that of the girl was being put up against, signifying that the two were starting to be hungry.

“I can't wait to get to the town, which should happen in about twenty minutes thought young woman,” the man told her. He already imagined the smell of ramen as well as the taste of noodles and meat which he devoured abundantly without paying attention to where he put it. The man that she escorted looked like he was in a dream. A howl sounded at the man’s hearing which made him jump immediately, a shadow passed over him before appearing in front of the cart, holding a smoking weapon in his right hand. A sort of loud speaker was visible against the thug's right arm and his face was hidden by a scarf that descended from the bottom of his eyes to his throat. At the level of his clothes, they were white for the top which was a kind of shirt as well as a purple scarf wrapped around his neck. His pants were also purple and his sandals bright white. This person in question must have been in their twenties at the level of their size which was around one meter seventy-five... Much more dangerous than the other thugs in the eyes of the traveler. She didn’t think that he would actually be a big deal but what did she know? More often than not she underestimated her foes and for that she had to be careful. She didn’t want to get surprised… One wrong move and she would be obliterated like there was no tomorrow.

She thought about what she would do if she was in that guy’s shoes. She didn’t even notice that the man was already rolling in a ball below the cart to wait for things to happen. A hissing noise first formed as the smoking projectiles had just been launched towards the girl’s chest. She tried to avoid it but at the last moment, and it rapped her skin who received in some damage. She heaved a deep sigh before looking into the thug’s eyes to see if he really had any in the guts. Taking a slight support from her thin leg, she rushed on the thug facing her in order to reach him from the edge of her left hand to his throat first. That was when the thug grabbed the girl’s left wrist, blocking her movement. Taking advantage of the support given by the thug's grip, she pulled her right heel right up to the thug's temple. Striking in the right place, she managed to repel him by several meters and even to tip him to the ground. No pity was visible in the young girl’s eyes due to the state of his subconscious... A strike swept the air from the girl’s hand to the thug's throat.

A slight cry from her gave the answer to the girl, the thug was dead. They quickly took the road towards the village which was only a few meters away... They were both arriving at the entrance after several hours of travel. Finally, she couldn't wait any longer. The guards greeted them warmly. The escort part of the job was done. But now she was going to have to help collect taxes. That was probably the hardest part. Not physically, but mentally. Not many people were up and willing to fork over tax money. It was almost insulting to some people, to have to do so. But yeah, she went around and collected taxes from this one guy and he was all like “hey, what the fuck are you doing taking my god damn money? If you walk away I’m going to nail you in the back of the head.” And she really didn’t like that so she gave him a punch to the chest that sent him flying through his own front door. She wondered why she ever took this job if she was going to have to deal with these kinds of people. She’d rather fight more bandits or something.

That experience put her in an incredibly bad mood. She decided to call it a day and just do more tax collecting the following day. The old man was fine with it. He was tired from the journey and he couldn’t be arsed to work too hard either. He was more focused on just staying safe and not getting his ass kicked. Why they thought an old man would be the best person to go get taxes from people that didn’t want to pay up was… beyond him. Maybe he served just as an official body to prove that the money was going to the right place and not being stolen by some thug? In any case the next day they woke up, excited to hopefully go do something new. She thought of taking the day off but what fun would that be? She still needed oh so much more money. It had been several minutes since she left her quaint home, followed by the team that would now accompany her on certain occasions. This was made up of some youngsters, probably D rank if she had to put a rank to them. But in any case they would serve as students to her though she really didn’t know how to do much on her own.

She didn’t know why she needed students to go around and observe her collecting taxes but.. whatever. She was paired with three very promising low rankers, and, as proof of that, students of an important person in the local area. This time that person could not take the team himself, too busy with internal affairs in the town. So he had given them off to her shall we say. The girl would therefore be responsible for carrying it out, accompanied by the trio of young people. Supposedly she would have another task with the kids later on, after all this tax stuff was over. Something about dealing with a big bear. But that was all pushed from her mind. The only thing she could think about right at this very moment was collecting taxes. She went to the next business. It was a blacksmith who didn’t take too kindly to getting his stuff taken from him but that was the job. She took his favorite hammer and offered to give it back for the taxes owed to her. He refused. SO she took his anvil too. She was willing to take all she needed to in order to get the money.

By the time she caught up she found that there was someone else. Someone new, that she hadn’t met before. She decided to interject and introduce herself. “Hi I’m Ivara. Who are you?” she’d say to the next person as she stood on the other side of him. “By the way, is there anything to do around here? I’ve just been wandering around for the most part. Is this the place you were talking about the other day?” She felt a little talkative and just a tad lost. It was hard to keep things straight when she was in such a hectic area. There was a little in the ways of making things easy for herself. There was little visibility when she got to the next area and the little devils were harder to track down when she couldn’t see very well. They had ample cover too which was probably why they set up in here to begin with. But that didn’t stop her from running around and kicking them to the curb. Before long she had cleared another area full of rascals and she was able to finally take a break. She wondered how many more of these she’d have to do before meeting back up.

Man she really felt like a thug. She didn’t like the feeling at all but, whatever. She just kept going around from place to place. Apparently this area had some hardships which was pretty much the reason why she was being called to do this work anyways. If the people here had money to give up they would just do so to avoid going through this mess. Maybe they were hoping for more time to get money or maybe they hoped that nobody would come knocking on their doors. One such person was clearly not able to pay. He didn’t have any money to give her, even after interrogation. She had to resort to taking all of his valuable looking shit which in itself looked like it wouldn’t even cover the distance if she sold it all. Whatever, it wasn’t her decision to make. She was just going to have to see what her boss thought about it. The old man didn’t seem to care either. He was just as bored as she was and happy to just put all that behind them. He decided to say that they had collected all that they could and that the town would just collect more taxes next year. Great, this vicious cycle made perfect sense.

Soon she’d finished her task though. All this travelling and tax collecting was enough to net her a hefty sum and she was going to enjoy spending the money later. It's been a while since she finished her task when she went to eat that night. She took the time to rest and train but she had to get it back to work. If she remembered correctly, it was a higher up who asked for help with security and defense project. It seemed important to her so she immediately took it. She already made a mental note of the same kind of topic just after taking in the different possibilities that could happen. She then went to the meeting place, it was in the outskirts of town, the place was difficult to access because of the many civilians. It was a beautiful sunny day with a breeze of wind that would be almost cool, it was very pleasant and very appreciated by the regulars of the town. The work area was delimited by signs and barricades preventing any unauthorized person from entering. She then presented her paper indicating her authorization to a worker who was watching the entrance to this place.

She then entered the area and found herself facing an underground descent, so he was going to start with the underground network. She had barely come forward when a man, helmet on his head yelled at her. “Hey you! It's a forbidden passage here, push yourself you bother us and it's dangerous! He then directed his gaze on her and saw who she really was before resuming, “ah excuse me, I had not seen. You do good work last time if I remember correctly, go down to the others, they will find you something to do to help us.” The man continued on his way by taking a wheelbarrow full of sand towards the foundry. They were picked up on their way, and arrived in front of some workers, they were all different, some tall, others older but all had the same skin color, skin of brown origin grayed by dust and sand. The end of the day task for her was then explained to the young woman who was there to see if she could lend a hand for the time being. She didn’t expect there to be much for her to do given the hour, but she might as well help out.

“Well, I thought you were going to help us today. We take care of digging and making a small pile of sand. You take a shovel, do you know what it looks like? This is the tool I hold in my hand, you use it to place the sand of the tat and put it in a wheelbarrow then you take it to the foundry, you pour the sand and we will make glass at the end of the day.” “Sounds simple enough,” she responded. She then took a shovel, then like that to fill her wheelbarrow with sand, it was necessary to act quickly otherwise the whole network will be blocked if this sand is not evacuated in time. When it was full, the young woman then left this underground, another worker quickly took his place to do the work while she brought the sand to the foundry. On site, there was already a significant amount of sand, however less important than the amount of gallery digging. She then saw a few workers placing sand in huge containers, which was then heated to a very high temperature in order to obtain a liquid sand. She wrapped up her little side project then went on home. Finally.

Now that she finally had the opportunity to go home she started going around squashing all the spiders she could. Before long the entire area, as far as she knew, was rid of the spiders that plagued it. She smiled with satisfaction but she knew that this was just one of many areas that needed to be cleansed. She headed over to the next one without much more ado. She needed to make sure these things didn’t even have the opportunity to breed. That’s why she squashed eggs and such along the way. It felt good being the apex predator around these parts.

A little spider scurried across her path and she squashed it without hesitation. She then turned her attention to a man who she had given interest to as he looked like a criminal in her eyes. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” the man told her indignantly. She was about to tell him off, but she realized that she wasn’t exactly on the job here. She didn’t need to be getting entangled with the criminals around here especially if she wasn’t going to get paid for it. “Oh what the hell,” she said, “no harm done.” They stopped around 2:00 p.m. to pose, the man who had explained his work to her and how it was all a big misunderstanding invited her to join them during the meal. They told her about their days as well as some anecdotes, then they asked her what it was to be from a foreign land. She explained to them when she had little experience for the moment and that most of her missions are not very interesting even if some stand out. That the more experience she had, the more she will be able to do more and more interesting missions. After our meal, they returned to where they met.

After all that she noticed that the sun was getting pretty low in the sky. She felt a sense of nostalgia that she couldn’t put her finger on. She wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride. Already, she could feel the butterflies starting a frenzied dance in her belly as she launched herself through the crowds towards the indicated place where there were hot air balloons ready to launch off. She had tried waiting in line in the past and she really couldn’t be arsed at the moment. If they wanted to charge her extra, so be it. But nobody was doing anything. There was some commotion and people were looking up. So she looked up as well. So a cat, stuck in a tree was somehow stopping the hot air balloons from taking off. Not because the cat was particularly dangerous, but because someone wanted to take the cat with them and it’d run off. It was supposed to be easy, there should be no difficulty... Finally, for someone with functional eyes. Now, the woman understood all too well why the passenger didn’t want to leave their cat behind but… did they all have to suffer because of this?

She just wanted to get a move on but it was pretty clear that nothing was going to happen with this stupid hot air balloon unless that cat was rescued. It seemed simple for anyone suddenly involved in the adventure for someone with without a disability. But she was going to succeed, she knew that she was going to succeed. She had no trouble getting to the place to get a good vantage point, she had scanned memorized every pocket in the area to find her way around without any problem. What she hadn't expected, however, was that this cat hadn't climbed a garden tree, no. He had jumped from a ledge in the residential area, probably in order to reach the narrow path below. And fortunately, rather than landing on the stony ground after a fall from eight meters, he had landed in the grip of a puny shrub. It defied gravity by pushing almost horizontally, but it was a common sight in the area surrounding this place, with all these natural obstacles. She grumbled under her breath as she walked along. Stupid ass cats ruining her day. She wanted to give it a punt into the next week.

Said path below was a narrow path that bypassed the town to lead to the summits (it was mainly used by shepherds to climb their animals to pastures in height). But now, she had never surveyed this passage. First because she was not local to the area, so she did not see the point of memorizing it or even noting it. And then because the path was not marked and led to a fall of several meters in a ravine, which was not ideal when you did not see where to put your feet. Ravine above which was, moreover, the cat which meowed in despair. And below her, standing in the middle of the path to the shepherds, was the old woman who was crying out for her animal. Kneeling near the edge of the ledge, whose edges she had spotted by groping carefully before him, the woman first called out to the lady to reassure her. “Don’t worry. I’ll get your cat so we can all go off on the hot air balloon ride.” And the old lady just sat there crying and worrying over nothing. Well, maybe not over nothing. If the cat fell it was definitely going to kick the bucket.

The wind and the echo of the area allowed the traveler to be heard without problem by the old lady and the restless crowds that just wanted to get on with their rides, who immediately begged her to do something for her poor little beast. Fortunately, with the distance, the woman could not see that her savior had some level of expertise, otherwise the situation would have deteriorated significantly. Relieved by this detail, she took a good breath to calm her nervousness. “Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to go down this ledge to the tree to get your animal. I want you to stay down there so that if he tries to jump, you can catch him before he gets hurt. Is it okay for you?” “Yes, but please, do not scare him...!” Okay, time to take action and prove yourself. She inhaled again. Expired. By hearing, she could very well spot the cat by its meows, the tree by the sound of the wind in its leaves and the lady by the sound of its tears. Well, she had the three most important things, now, time to do the rest. Inspiration. She took a deep breath and she was ready.

Standing up, the woman advanced to the edge of the cliff... then tilted horizontally. Down below, the woman gave a frightened little cry, but he ignored her to keep her concentration intact. Okay, she had both feet anchored to the wall. Now she had to pay attention to every step she took. Admittedly, her shoes were glued to the cliff thanks to how fast she was moving, but if a hole appeared under her raised foot when she thought she had reached the surface... she would slip and injure herself for sure. So do not lift your feet, let them slide slowly over the cliff, one after the other, very gently. When she finally reached the tree, the rest of things went more smoothly than expected. The plant was not strong enough to support her weight, but it did not need to,.. It could remain fixed on the stone wall. As for the frightened cat refusing net to cooperate, a simple shout was enough to paralyze him with fear, allowing the woman to grab him without kicking his claws to wedge him safely under her arm. The last four meters were done with the same caution as the first and soon, the woman found herself alongside the old woman.

The old lady immediately snatched the beast from her hands, hugging it with an agitated track. Although she couldn't see the show, she guessed it very easily, making him stretch a big silly smile. It was then that the woman realized that she had held up everyone. “I’m sorry folks. But I got my cat now, I’ll be on my way.” As a reward for helping she was allowed to go on the next hot air balloon ride. Though it’d taken some effort she had actually saved time as waiting for the next ride by waiting in line was going to take at least an hour. Getting this cat had taken up like fifteen minutes tops and had given her something to do. She smiled, fortune favored her today. So the cat was brought back to the balloon being held by the hand like a child, meowing happily with the old lady until they had to separate. Later, she will tell her friends about her meeting, not without a note of consternation in her voice: a hero capable of running down an eight meter cliff. That was nothing that special in itself, but you know how old people like to gossip.

The actual balloon ride itself was rather uneventful. Lately, the woman had been on alert. Indeed, the girl was very concerned, much more than usual, for the safety of the people around her. This is normal, in view of the previous events which clearly opened her eyes to the possibility of danger. It was not a bad thing. She felt like having more rules to be more strict on safety, and making it a point of ensure that everything is respected, and that the civilians are in good hands. This way of acting and proceeding is completely admirable. She had received thoughts like this that made her feel like she would surely have the task of training civilians in the event of a crisis. That wouldn’t be a bad job to go on but for now she tried her best not to think about that. She tried to force her eyes to look out at the horizon and see the sunset while being high up in the air in this hot air balloon. But she couldn’t help it. She thout about having to lead an initiation to first aid, carry out a concise and orderly evacuation in case of need, and especially to establish strategic regrouping points provided for this purpose.

She absolutely did not think that she was going to be able to ride in hot air balloons forever. This was a nice vacation but reality would be calling soon. She’d have to go back to real life soon. Jobs and missions to get her pay and ensure that the goals of her superiors were met. Her gaze overlooked the landscape of calming sights. When you think that some time ago, this place was probably full of war one couldn’t quite keep at ease. But, her passage here was not left to chance. She was here to take a break from real life before having to develop a strategy for surviving a large scale attack. It was only in case, but she absolutely did not think that she was going to have to actually put a plan into effect. Well that was enough dawdling for today. The hot air balloon ride ended and she disembarked. She wandered off to get some food as they didn’t have anything affordable on the trip. Then she went on off to bed. She didn’t think that this place had been worth her time but… what was she going to do about it? Ask for her money back? The student had been so nervous that he had even forgotten to follow all the instructions. He hadn’t even come up or stated his name.

Looking for herbs. This was one of the easiest and generic premises for a mission that there was but she’d been given this mission nonetheless. She knew that there was danger associated with it due to poisons and potentially dangerous creatures, but how bad could it be, really? She walked along into the forest and wondered if she would run into anyone else doing the same kind of job. She didn’t think that it would be that hard to find other people to partake in her fun and games. She stood by a large tree and put her body against it, waiting for something to happen.

There was nothing wrong with taking the same kind of task over and over again. There was a simplicity in it, to some degree. It was much easier to split the workload than to do everything by oneself and this was exactly the kind of job that would be easier to do in a group. That was why she was pretty adamant that she wouldn’t start until someone else showed up. She was walking along a path leading into a forest that didn’t seem to have any end in sight. She could only hope that it wouldn’t be too dangerous for little ol’ her.

What was it about spending some time in a forest that put her on her toes? Was it the sounds of wolves and other creatures growling in the shadows? Nah, that was nothing to worry about. What was really spook were the owls that hooted unexpectedly and swooped around catching rats. She wondered if it was worth trying to get one as a summon and being like an owl version of batman. Nah that was stupid. But anyways… yeah, she was just walking through the forest and looking for some herbs. Typical stuff. Was anyone going to come keep her company?

“EEEEP!” she squealed in surprise when someone took her by surprise. You’d think that a mage, especially one of her “caliber” would be a little more alert. Despite being a local she was admittedly not so comfortable in a forest environment, being from a town and all. She panted and put her hand on a tree, putting her weight against the bark. The she felt magical energy carressing her hand and offered added support. “Sorry about that,” she said to the girl, “just looking for… some herbs. I’m from a more populous area. Who are you?” She hadn’t seen anyone else yet, but maybe her small scream would be enough to draw others near.

Having already found all the herbs of one variety she thought she was going to find for the day she headed back to where she had split up earlier. She found a few more on the way and squashed them nicely as she made her way along. They weren’t that fast and she was wondering why this was such a high paying job. Little did she know that the actual hard work was being taken care of by someone else. But yeah, she just walked along, cleaning up the small fries. Nothing too interesting going on on her end. And she was totally fine with that!

She observed some girls running over to join her. She smirked, yeah being someone important must have its benefits. Though every other time she’d been with him he had been seemingly oblivious to other’s advances. At least she’d get to find out if he was just playing coy or if he really was innocent. “Sure, they can join, no problem.” “It sure is good to be out here,” she’d say to them, “we don’t get flowers like these where I’m from, that’s for sure.” She trailed off and looked in the distance, “what’s that over there?” She pointed to what was most likely the rare herbs. They were growing over by a pond that was separated from their current position by a fifty meter chasm. There was a stone bridge but… yeah she wasn’t so confident that she would want to be relying on that.

She heard a sound that resounded from far away. Did that mean danger? She ran over as fast as she could. She didn’t know what exactly to expect but she had a feeling that her partner was in trouble. He was probably much too late to help if there was danger, and would arrive long after whatever had made the sound had made its first moves. She just hoped that she would arrive before things got too bad. And hey, there was always the chance that she didn’t need to take action at all! But maybe that possibility would be too good to be true.

What with two ladies screaming in the forest someone might think that something actually dangerous was going on. It made her grin nervously, but then she regained her bearings, “Oh that’s good, though I can’t say I know other people are around. I’m Ivara,” she tried to imitate the girl’s bow then continued, “uhh I have a list here and some pictures.” She turned around a scroll so that she could see what she was after. “I’m actually on a job so if you were to help I would happily make sure you’re compensated! The only problem is that there are supposed to be dangerous creatures guarding the plants…” That’s when the eerie sound of something creeping around would be plainly noticeable to everyone present.

She nodded at the questions the girl asked her. She always wanted to know how to make her own herbs and was eager to find out how in the future. “How do you tell the difference between self made herbs and those in the wild? The lady said, “it’s no different than comparing an original to a doppleganger created by magic. They may look the same but deep down, they’re not. It’s up to us to determine which one is more “real” and to assign value appropriately.” Ivara nodded again, that seemed like a good enough explanation to her. Then there were the people behind her. “Oh I suppose. Do you know any of them?” She hadn’t turned around yet so she hadn’t seen anyone else yet. Someone popped out of the forest though. He introduced himself. “Nice to meet you,” she responded, “I’m Ivara.” She wanted to ask more about where he was from but that could wait till later. Right now there was a job to do. “I’m not holding back forest so do your worst!”

More herb collection. That was a pretty simple mission. Today she was out not alone, but with a partner. They were herb collecting partners for the day. It was nice to finally be in the company of a teammate, for once. They stayed mostly quiet though on their journey to the forests of the fire country. They didn’t even know each other. They’d just been paired together by chance. Anyways, they were walking along and looking for herbs when they noticed that all the regular herb spots were empty. Usually non-trash people left some herbs behind so they could keep growing.

You know, like not killing young animals so that they could be harvested later on in their lives. But yeah, that didn’t seem to be the norm around here. The herb spots were baren. That was exactly not the right thing to do so she was understandably pissed. “What if they went and got rid of all the herb sites and now I have to spend weeks looking for more!?” were her immediate thoughts. This whole situation screamed that someone around here was a jerk or wasn’t trained well in the slightest. Well, she was going to have to find who did it.

Suddenly nothing made sense. She felt like she was… was she in a bar? She couldn’t think straight. She had a feeling that she had wanted to drink… but she felt already drunk. Wait, where was her drink? She looked around. Somehow it had moved. She leapt at it, walking on top of a table and reaching for her pitcher. “how’d you get over there!?” she asked as she started drinking. That was when she noticed the someone start partaking in the drinking and she heard words form in her mind. "You’re about to meet your downfall!” At the end of those words she suddenly came back to reality. Something was odd about this forest. It caused her to see some illusions that she didn't understand. She'd have to keep on her guard.

“Oh…” she said to a woman who suddenly appeared in front of her. Then she said, “OH! Are you the one I’m supposed to meet here?” She wasn’t one for names but she could definitely remember this girl for the brief moments they had spent together. She let the woman come closer to examine all she liked. “Oh hey you,” Ivara would call back, without even turning around, “we’re looking for herbs. How about you help us with those eyes of yours?” She turned and pointed to the scroll which depicted a number of herbs on it. “You always do pop in just in the nick of time!” Then out of nowhere even more girls came out of nowhere. Ivara did her best to keep control as the other girls went crazy. She let out a snicker when the new person she’d met today let out a very smart comment. “Good one,” she noted. That aside, they still had their obstacle to contend with. A big scavenger hunt of herbs that she didn’t think she wanted to tackle after looking into it. She frowned as she walked up to it then put her hands on the ground. The ground shook a little and a giant tree formed, causing a bridge to be formed across forest. “That’ll do won’t it? This will give us safe passage I hope.”

Ivara ran through the area and finally, at long last, turned around the corner and saw a big ol’ collection of herbs. She thought to herself that she must have gotten the good end of the deal if she had been dealing with all those small herbs but this creature guarded this particular collection of herbs jealously. The lizard looked over at her which was exactly what she needed to trigger it into a trance that caused mental damage. It writhed even more vigorously but it would be unable to do very much as it was too busy trying to cope with its mental fatigue. Any opening. Perfect. Of course, there was little she could do to actually get to her opponent but there was something that she could do… She ran like there was no tomorrow, trying her best to position herself in such a way that she could dodge if the creature actually got his attack off. While he was distracted with her partner running around, Ivara shouted at the top of her lungs. Whether the creature focused on her or not was a nonissue. He would hear her scream and she used her time magic to paralyze him. Good. Now they could gather herbs.

Ivara shrugged when she realized that people were still tagging along. She heard that they were coming and heard some words. “You lot are kind of suspicious. Are you following me or something!?” she acted suspicious but she then burst out laughing, “just kidding. I’ve bumped into a number of people over and over again… maybe they’ve just laid this forest out so that you naturally go from one attraction to another.” She really couldn’t say. As the group dawdled around the lizard more and more people started filtering into the area. It wouldn’t be long before the mass of people would make it impossible to enjoy the herb collection spot for long. “maybe it’s time to head onto the next place,” she suggested to the people around her with a sigh. Ivara looked at which direction her partner had gone to and she went the opposite way. There was no point in entering a match of speed because she would probably lose. She was going to try her luck at getting to the next good herbs first. Except not one minute in and she’d already run into a dead end. She shouted angrily and wished that she could just penetrate the trees of the forest. She knew she could… if she tried hard enough. But she wasn’t that desperate. For now she would double back around and take the next path. She read something about being able to solve any maze if you kept turning in the same direction.

Ivara frowned when she came up to an injured animal. He looked wounded, or dizzy, something like that. She focused healing energy into him which would hopefully make him feel a little better. It was the least she could do for having him do all the hard work. She guessed that it had been struggling out of a trap. “Boy, that thing tuckered you out didn’t it? I’m glad you got stuck with him, not me! What are you doing after this anyways? I’m getting kind of hungry.” She thought about how far the nearest town was from here then wondered if she was willing to even walk that far. She shrugged. She guessed she could make it if her partner could. Ivara walked along, directly behind some animals as she hunted for herbs. She wasn’t too worried about them the rickety branches above her falling off as the trees were quite girthy. But in any case, she was positioned between the various people around her so that she could catch them with branches if something like a strong gust did happen to push against them.

After most of that had been settled, Ivara snooped around this area with a practiced eye, trying her best to look for clues that would lead her to more herbs. Though all she found was a locket on the ground. She heard some commotion behind her. It sounded like ghosts were in the area and started to arrive. Ivara shrugged and booted the locket only for her foot to meet an impressive force of resistance. “Really now, you come to my farm and the first thing you do is kick my favorite locket?” It was Ivara who screamed this time. She turned around to see a man dressed in exquisite clothes. The ghost looked so prim and proper, except he was holding his head under his arm like a football. “Heavens keep your voice down,” the ghost said as he got scared from her yelling. She ran as fast as she could. She didn’t want any haunted herbs. After about half an hour of wandering through the forest and getting absurdly tired of walking, Ivara spotted her partner coming from the opposite direction. It seemed that it didn’t matter which way you entered the forest, you were bound to arrive at this very spot. They were, in fact, not too far from the center of the forest. You could even hear the people on the other side of the bushes gathering stuff.

“I hate crowds,” her partner said. “Yeah I feel you,” Ivara said to her partner. Big crowds were always a hassle, especially when dealing with a hangover. She then positioned herself so that she could talk to the other group of gatheres. “I heard there are some performers in the next town over. How about we go check them out?” She gathered up some herbs that were left and with that she made her exit. Hopefully they wanted to see some cool stuff with her and provide interesting commentary. She’d always wanted to see a trained fire dancer and this was going to be her chance! But when she walked towards the town she frowned. There was a kid sitting on a rock and trying to sell them something. She wanted to ask how this kid even got here but the answer to that was simple. It was probably some kind of transportation magic. She guessed that most places were accessible with that kind of thing. “We’re not interested,” she told the kid and then she shrugged off his peddled wares.

Soon they entered a fog. Someone asked if she was really her and she said, “yeah it’s me. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone this way,” before turning to face whatever it was that was causing the fog. It lookedlike a ghost or something. This was much unlike any kind of ghost Ivara had ever seen before. Was it even a ghost? She didn’t even know. She felt roots curl up around her to help defend herself. She hoped she hadn’t accidentally stumbled upon some kind of enemy. “So what’s your deal?” she asked the spirit looking thing, “are you a demon or were you really that ugly when you were alive!? Wait, what do I care, just tell me why you’re haunting us!”

Ivara frowned at the strange spirit… whatever this was. He claimed to have possessed a human body but that really didn’t answer her question. She wanted to solve the mystery so she could rub it in everyone’s face that she’d been the one to do it. But it seemed intent on fighting so she thought she might as well do something about that. Except… yeah she didn’t think anything she had worked on the undead, or the non-living. If they didn’t have senses to fool then she was boned. Well, that meant she was just going to… run. She dove for cover, out of the way of the boulder, as someone shot out a torrent of water at the thing and she shouted, “yeah, get him!”

After getting doused with water the ghost thing just… disappeared and then they were allowed to get on with their day. Once in the town Ivara walked about, not sure what to do with her day. She’d just left the gardens and she was ready to watch some performers. That was what she had wanted to do for a while though. She needed to find something to do to burn time though. She only had to do a little bit more in order to make sure that she got the fullest experience. She ended up watching some big sumo wrestler sized guy blow fire several meters into the air. Cool beans. But what else was there to offer? Surely there was some magical stuff around here somewhere… She ended up spending the rest of her day in a maze of some sorts. Ivara kept on running, turning every which way at random and before long she started to tire. She slowed to a slow jog and wondered how big this maze was. She knew she had been close to the end but… now she was perhaps moving away from the center? What, was that just a tease? She eventually finished the maze and went home.

The next day she focused on training. To become one with oneself. Hmm, what a novel concept. Ivara wasn’t one to put much stock in being a better version of herself which was why the thought of meditating and getting a clearer mind was completely foreign to her. She took out a piece of paper and some drawing utensils. She hoped that by drawing out the steps necessary she would get some inner enlightenment. After a good half hour she had finished drawing all the lines, the woman then stretched out her arm, she had her right hand, all these fingers were tight. Suddenly, her hand was surrounded by a bluish color, it was energy. She was very surprised by her technique, she cut the papers as if they were broken in butter. The cut was clear and precise, if it did not go, it was bound to be her fault, her work seemed perfect. She smiled at her little art project but it was hardly going to be enough to call today a wrap. She had much to do in terms of becoming a better person with some serious character development. She tried to sit still and meditate. It was time for self reflection after all and she was determined to make this work out.

If only this was going to be that simple. She was unfortunately disturbed by people doing construction in the next building over. She groaned and opened an eyelid to peek out the window. She saw workmen then arrived and brought the plates to go the plates against the base of a house which they had made. Part of the foundation had already been repaired and a woman covered it with sand, it was a characteristic of the buildings in the area, the main material that we use comes from the natural resources they had to offer. It is an inexpensive material to bring and very versatile! This woman, she think she is a designer, she does not just cover the wall, she sculpts certain shapes using her special abilities, she find her rather pretty and brought her a certain atmosphere to the neighborhood. Ivara shut her eyes again but she couldn’t help but notice something that she saw. She saw a shadow near a door, it was a human shadow. Oh why oh why was someone trying to bother her when she was trying to focus within herself and become a better person? This was self reflection time, couldn’t they see that!?

She opened her eyes and looked out the window again. It looks like people, the shadows move and vaguely draw the silhouette of people. She cannot say how many there are. However, civilians and other people are prohibited here during the works. She will have to go and check. She walked then towards the door, it was the laying of work and she still had time, she did not know what she was going to discover but this was going to be could make her experience the strangest day of this week. She was advancing then, she did not know what was hidden behind but as she advanced, she distinguished two voices, one must be that of a girl, the other, more serious, a boy. They seemed to be bickering, when she opened the door, she saw two teenagers, a boy and a girl, as she had imagined. When they saw that she had opened the door, they stopped, she saw on the face of the girl that she was annoying, her arms were growing weary at her chest. She looked at her and said, “Hello you, I'm sorry, we didn't want to scare you. We are both students of the dojo being built next door.”

Ivara groaned. So much for self reflection. She shrugged it off though. She had other stuff she could be working on. Like… she thought, oh yeah, she could train. She walked out of the building and by doing so she left the room, leaving her with one of them. The teenager who argued with her. "It seems to be sad, however, if a girl like her bickers with her, she will be really happy that she goes away and leaves me alone, really crazy her daughters .." He looked down, then continued his little monologue that was addressed to her while looking at the ground. “it's true that we often bicker, in fact we are rivals but , recently... No nothing, forget it, anyway I have to go back to work. They are really scary here, their behavior is so abnormal that I get goosebumps, well, I'm going back to it." He then joined the worker's team, his work was finished but, he still had to put away the equipment, some of them were refining what they had finished by adding finishing touches. So he placed her armpits on the rollers, and had stuff on each of his hands. He brought everything he was going to use outside.

Ivara was glad to see those guys go. Now, finally, she could leave and go to the training area. The trip there was rather uneventful except for the fact that there was a cat following her. This wasn’t the first time she’d been tailed by a cat. She’d even bonded with one recently to help train in the arts of feeling and manipulating the natural energy around her. So she chatted with the cat, learned his name, and why he was here. Sure enough he was here to hound her to make sure she didn’t slack on her training and to make sure that she mastered what she had started some time ago. It was annoying but… she couldn’t complain too much. This kind of stuff was really high on her priority list but she just put it off way too often. But soon enough they got to the training area and took a seat by a big old tree. It was one of the few trees around that could actually be considered a tree in this dry environment. But no matter, she could just make her own tree. She willed nature around her to shift and out from the ground rose a sapling.

“A sapling? That’s it?” the cat said with a sarcastic meow. “It’s harder than it looks when it’s all dry like this. It’s exhausting,” Ivara replied with a sneer. “And besides, I’m not done yet.” She focused harder and willed the tree to grow. It sucked the little water in the ground and low and behold… the tree grew to be a half meter thick within a minute or so. It was exhausting, having to provide her own energy into the process as there wasn’t much to go off of. It was difficult work and in the end she panted and leaned against the tree for support. “not much better than a sapling,” the cat commented quite rudely. “Well, did you at least try to mix in natural energy? That’s why we’re here anyways. If you’re just going to goof off and do your own thing I can just leave.” The cat pounced onto her shoulder and ruffled her hair with its paws. “Hey stop it! Get off!” Ivara shouted, grabbing the cat with both her hands and tossing it up into the tree. “As if. Now I want you to make this tree bigger. And don’t waste my time. I’ve got a nap scheduled and I can’t miss it.”

Ivara groaned. She couldn’t have asked for a less understanding teacher. But whatever. She put her hands onto the tree and meditated while standing. She already knew the basics of pulling natural energy around her to her aid. It was part of what made her special. She was more or less infused with the ability to gather energy around her so she put that to her advantage. She drew in the natural energy, feeling her body change under the effects ever so slightly. But she didn’t keep it within her body. As soon as she got it she pushed it into the tree. It was this that she had a lot of difficulty with. She pushed too much into the tree and it grew. It grew much larger in all the wrong places. Within a minute it’d grown to have a beer gut, if a tree could possibly have such a thing. It was more or less bulging out on one side which was not exactly what she had intended to do with the energy. It just meant that there were a lot of things she could improve upon. “not bad,” the cat said from up above, “but remember that this isn’t a show of force. Yadda yadda.”

Ivara tried again. She put more energy into the tree after carefully collecting it. She felt the energy push into the tree but this time she tried to direct it as best she could. She could send the energy upwards, downwards, wherever she liked really. It was like having to relearn how to create a tree all over again. It was tedious. She hated the process. But she continued all the same. She let the energy continuously flow through her this time. There was no pause or break in this process. It was like she was a vacuum to the energy around her and she simply fed the energy back into the tree at the same speed she took it in. And boy, did the tree grow. Within a couple minutes it was three meters thick and dozens of meters tall. The cat hopped down and dug its claws into her as she started going faster and faster. “That’s enough there. Don’t need you drawing too much and getting penalized for it. Let’s head back to where those construction workers were. Maybe we can put your newfound abilities to the test.” Ivara nodded. She was ready to move on by now.

And so they headed back to the construction site. Ivara and the cat sat and observed the people working for a while. After this little tidying up, which lasted a long time, the workers were responsible for cleaning the room. A foreman walked up and said to them “When we make a site, it must be clean, it's like we recognize the importance of sanitization.” The cat said, “we can help. Give us a job.” So the foreman scribbled down some instructions. Ivara took them and before she knew she then carried out a chore provided with a mop and a bucket of water. She then wiped the floor, drawing "S" with the mop that she had in hand. While she was working, “This isn’t what I had in mind." She sighed then, no one was in this room, they had left for, she guessed they were smoking outside. Some people are really stupid, they spend their time complaining about their poor income but spending the little they have on these things that destroy them from the inside. Medicine may be at its peak, no effective remedy has been found on the ravages of cigarettes. However, something interrupted her thinking, the two young people who kept spoiling her day were kissing.

Ivara tried to ignore them. She thought that this kind of public display of affection was a little much. So she tried to work on her chores. The cat sat on her shoulder and whispered, “it’s not about the chore, it’s about using natural energy around you to help you. Try infusing that mop with some natural energy and see how much more range you get out of that bad boy.” Ivara nodded and did so, flowing natural energy into the mop and trying to spread out the mop’s area of influence. She did not understand anything anymore though, the girl was in the arms of the young boy, they looked now in the eyes, she believe that they do not know that she was still there. However if she remembered correctly, they said they were raised in a dojo or something. According to typical rules, it was forbidden to maintain a more than friendly relationship between students. The two teenagers then turned to her, they had just seen her, it was too late, she couldn't pretend that she hadn't seen anything. They got nervous, one nodded from left to right, it is a tick that many sorts of people have and they do when they have made a mistake.

The woman, she was waving her hand to her, like she shouldn't say anything, like she should never have been there. The task of infusing natural energy into her mop was so boring that she wished she was transported away to a much more complex set of tasks. She had to make a choice, warn the managers of the dojo and tell them everything she had just seen or keep quiet, for the good of their couple but at the risk of taking a penalty if we ever discovered that she didn’t. What was she going to do? She hadn't chosen, she didn't even think about it. She simply put the mop she was holding in her hand against a wall, to listen to what the couple was telling her. The two young people seemed to be willing to do anything and so far they hadn't stopped bickering. She don't understand anything about their behavior, nothing stuck with what she had just seen. And yet, she had just seen them make out. Whatever. Ivara sighed, picked up the mop again, and just started working on gathering and using nature magic again with her false god lacrhima. “Why am I doing this anyways,” she asked the cat.

“It’s to work on your delicateness. You proved you can surge energy into the tree. That is good. Now you have to repeat the process with something delicate like in your every day life. If you want to be one of the greats, you have to learn how to be gentle with your energy.” The cat extended a claw as Ivara got annoyed and went a little too far, blowing apart the end of the mop with a single bad thought. “now now, control your temper. And go get another mop.” So Ivara went over to get another mop. On the way she was confronted by the boy again. The young man, very embarrassed, put his palm on his neck, while the girl jumped on the side, yet all that was useless, she had seen them and they knew it. The young man took a step forward and stammered, “It's not what you think.” The girl cut him off, and took a hesitant but equally trembling tone. “Do not say anything. I know you saw us but if you ever tell everything to madam, we would be punished and we could not come to the dojo.” She shed a tear though she knew there were rules and they must be enforced.

What the girl didn’t know was how little Ivara cared. As she picked up the mop to do more practice with gathering natural energy she couldn’t help but want to just leave. But the cat was very insistent. Perhaps his goal was to put her in a distracting environment to test her nerves. Ivara realized that when she actually used energy around her in battle she wouldn’t have time to calm down. She would have to work under stress. So she dealt with it, focusing energy down the mop and trying her best to coat the entire object with natural energy that she drew in from her surroundings. It was hard. Far harder than she thought it should be… but she persevered. The teens looked scared out of their minds though. They were aware before they even came here to learn that it was punished and yet. She don't understand how you can do such a thing. Certainly, love is something special, you can't get rid of it that easily, but they could at least have kept Ivara away from it. If they had no desire to have so many responsibilities imposed upon their little souls, they should have thought about it.

The cat jumped off Ivara’s shoulder and said, “I think you’ve done it. This is as good as you’re going to get with our training thus far. You have to practice in combat next. And I’m afraid I don’t have time to help out with that as I’m going to be late for my nap. Good day to you all.” He then walked off out of the room and then was not seen again for the rest of the day. Perhaps he had taken to perching atop the construction site or something. Ivara didn’t really care though. She was way past being bored of learning this natural energy stuff. She was ready to just go home and post up in bed. But she felt like she should deal with these teens first. The young boy recovered and seemed to regain courage. He glanced at the person he was holding in his arms. “I'm sorry but we shouldn't have. You know it as well as I do. And now we have mixed this woman in our business, I intend to denounce myself, I would say that I forced you, I will invent a story, something, I will get you out of there.”

Ivara thought he was completely crazy, he was a fool, in addition, if he told someone his unbelievable story nobody would even take him seriously. She said, “Well to tell you the truth you’re both overreacting. I don’t care about either of you or this dojo. I’m just temporarily housing nextdoor and you lot decided to pull me into your business. So yeah, I guess just be careful around people who do care? I don’t know. I’m out of here though. I would be impressed if someone was going to get angry for so little, but I guess you must think about the consequences. And don’t you think that the foreman, the old man will come back to check the cleaning that you guys have done. Maybe he will ask and make you tell him about it. He's an old man and he's probably someone with great wisdom. Go bother him for advice.” She then left the couple to their own misery. It wasn’t time for Ivara to be sad. It was time for her to be happy.
