"I'm finally here, Dad..." Skylar thought to himself as he gazed up at the brick-and-glass building that was, hopefully, to be his new home. The guild hall of Fairy Tail was somewhat plain and unassuming, but that was to be expected of a guild not officially recognized by the Magic Council. From what Skylar knew, Fairy Tail was no longer quite the guild his father, an independent mage who had been somewhat famous back in his day, many years ago, had spoken of with such high regard, but Skylar still wanted to join. Even though his dad had never been part of the guild, joining Fairy Tail would be one step closer to his old man. And maybe, just maybe, the guild would help Skylar become the kind of man his father was, and his father had always wanted Skylar to be.

The young wizard took a deep breath, briefly wished it was raining, then pushed open the doors and stepped inside, looking around the hall with some trepidation. What would he find here? A friendly, welcoming guild as his father had described? Or would it be cold and unforgiving, like the brick that enclosed him? He took another deep breath, forcing away the feeling of claustrophobia he felt, being out of under the open sky. Shame he couldn't do the same with his nervousness.

"Another!" a voice roared loudly from the bar, although given how many people were about the guildhall today it was certainly not as obvious as usual. Magnus was taking today off from jobs - he'd spent the past 3 weeks running around the entirety of Fiore and had been told to 'ease up' on himself, whatever that meant - and so he did the only thing that he could think of; he'd woken up at the crack of dawn, spent a few hours doing his daily training routine and then started eating and drinking merrily to his heart's content. He was currently awaiting his fourth tankard of ale and had already chomped his way through a number of steaks and chicken drumsticks.

The Chaos mage was deep in conversation with another guild member in between mouthfuls, but came to a stop when he saw the guildhall's doors open and an unfamiliar face walk in. He finished his current mouthful and took another swig of ale before getting to his feet and pushed his way through the people - something made easier by his sheer size and strength. In no time at all he was in front of the newcomer, stupid smile smeared across his face. "HEY! Are you a new challenger for the supreme one?!"

Now, Kaido had been out and about for a couple of days and it was his time to rest. He had honestly planned to do nothing but drink, gamble, and relax until he got bored. Which knowing how lazy and how prone he was to procrastination; boredom wasn’t going to be coming soon. On the other hand, there may be a chance that Ao Gaung would annoy the crap out of Kaido until he did something interesting. That was honestly how it went, or in some cases it would be the other way around. Ao Gaung and his spoiled pampered ass sometimes would try to seduce Kaido into taking a lazy day and do absolutely nothing. For once, it would seem that the two had a mutual agreement to simply be calm and peaceful this morning.

With a cigarette tucked in his mouth and a mug of beer in his hand, Kaido sat at a table with some other guild mates and gambled whatever jewels he had. Fortunately for him, he had been winning, well, at least for the most part he had been winning. “HA! I WIN YOU JERK GIVE ME MY JEWELS!” Kaido stated slamming a winning hand of cards down onto the table and sliding the jewels his way. Maybe you should quit while your ahead Kaido, don’t waste your jewels on your addiction idiot. Ao Gaung snickered in his thoughts, Keep your mouth shut you creepy little serpent I am winning Kaido would snap back.

The door opened and as Kaido looked up he could see a new person walking in, and of course as usual, Magnus pushed through the crowd to ask something about a challenge. Kaido sighed to himself and shook his head in annoyance and in disbelief. “I’ll be right back guys. Gonna make sure this idiot isn’t going to cause some trouble, don’t try to cheat while I am gone.” He would state and stand up to make his way to the newbie and Magnus. “Baka, not everyone wants to challenge you. Give him some breathing space, I am sure you don’t want to overwhelm him with your bull crap” He would state to Magnus and turned to smile down at the newbie. “Sorry about him, he can be annoying at times. I am Kaido, nice to meet you.”

Despite what his father had told him about the rowdiness of Fairy Tail mages, the last thing Skylar had expected to encounter when walking into the guild was a potential fight. He didn't know exactly who the 'supreme one' was, but judging from the brashness of the wizard who'd approached him, it was likely to be a tough fight. Instinctively, Skylar took a step back, sizing up his opponent as he gathered his magic power around him, accompanied by a low buzzing sound and the sharp scent of ozone. Lightning would be the way to go, judging by the mass of the opponent. Wind and water would likely just bounce off, but lightning would put him down hard, however heavy he was.

Just as Skylar was gathering himself to potentially fight the large, loud mage who had suddenly confronted him, another guild wizard stepped in. But not to also fight the young storm mage. Instead, the second newcomer verbally slapped down the other. Apparently, this wasn't an uncommon occurrence. Somewhat bashfully, Skylar loosed his hold on his magic, grounding it out as he shifted back to a less aggressive stance.

"Um... I'm Skylar Silverwind." he replied to the second wizard. "I'm here to join Fairy Tail."

Anyone else would've probably heard Kaido's words and gotten offended. Anyone else would've probably started a brawl there and then. Magnus wasn't anyone else. Instead he was slightly mad as the newcomer had seemingly accepted the challenge before Kaido had come along. Still, perhaps Kaido was right and he shouldn't challenge every newcomer when they came through the door. Let them say their name first, then challenge them. Magnus made mental note of this, chuckled to himself and then tilted his head to the side slightly, listening to what the small one had to say.

So this little squirt wanted to join Fairy Tail huh?

"Why did you not say so?! If you don't declare what you want straight away, you won't get it!" Magnus laughed and gave a thumbs up. He then wheeled around and began looking for someone of importance - Nessa or the Man-Boy Guildmaster would do. "OI! YOU LOT! ANYONE SEEN NESSA?! OR THE MANBOY?!"

The new kid gathered his magic and prepared for whatever Magnus was going to do. But as soon as Kaido got on Magnus for challenging everyone he stopped whatever he was doing and calmed down. “What is with the people in this guild and trying to fight.” The gentle giant would grumble under his breath, and massage his neck quietly to rub out any tension that had collected. “Magnus we really need to have a talk about manners and proper introductions and whatnot.” Kaido would mutter under his breath and then sigh, And here I was hoping to have a nice relaxing morning. He thought to himself. You should have known joining a band of rambunctious fools run by a manchild would bring this kind of behavior. Ao Gaung would whisper ins his thoughts, Shut it Kaido would remark in his head.

“I mean that is a good point Magnus, but …..” He paused for a moment. “Magnus you just can’t call the guild master a man boy please call him by his real name.” he shook his head once again, before turning his attention onto Skylar.  “Nice to meet you Skylar. I am Kaido Kemono. I see you have an interesting form of magic, storm I’m guessing?” he would question.

    *sluuuuuuuuuuurp*

The sound of someone slurping the bottom of a soon-to-be empty juice box echoed throughout the guild hall, intending to catch the attention of whoever heard it in the middle of nowhere. It came from a flustered Guildmaster, average in height, average in build, and average in many other things in life… but this ‘manboy’ title that Magnus had bestowed upon him was getting annoying.

    *sluuuuuuuuuuurp*

Oh hey, Kaido was here too. More maturely speaking than the white-haired tribe-fighter, he had been greeting a guest whose face was unfamiliar… a newcomer to the guild who quickly addressed their interest in joining Fairy Tail. This was rather pleasing to hear for the Guildmaster, so he decided to approach them anyway. He did so with a relaxed tempo, not really in a hurry or anything.

“So… Manboy was called, right?” he asked out to them, his eyebrows lowered rather sharply to turn his eyes into that of an angered kid. A small pout was present as well, but all of this was mostly aimed at Magnus, that rascal.

His face then moved to gaze at the newcomer, the young man who had manifested magic just a moment ago. His face rested assured and removed its angry textures, before he spoke: “You want to join Fairy Tail, right? Can you show me your magic one more time…?”

Skylar was beginning to get overwhelmed, but he took a deep breath and shook it off. In response Kaido's question, he gave a nod. "That is correct. I use Stormcaller Magic." he replied. He was about to create a demonstration anyway, when a young man approached, requesting one. Putting two and two together, this was the person the loud wizard had referred to as a 'manboy.' Which meant that this average-looking, unassuming man was actually the Fairy Tail guildmaster.

Shaking off his surprise from that, Skylar raised his hands to chest height and focused his magic. All of a sudden, a gust of wind slammed open the doors of the hall, sweeping in to wrap around Skylar without so much as disturbing anyone else's clothes. A storm cloud coalesced between the wizard's hands, roiling in miniature fury. There was a flash of lightning, and then Skylar was holding a sword of wind, visible only as a vague disturbance in the air, wreathed in lightning and water. He held the blade up before him long enough for everyone to see it, then dismissed it with the scent of ozone and a burst of wind that did stir the clothes of everyone around, this time.

"I trust that was satisfactory?" he said in a quiet tone, addressing the guild master. He decided respect was the proper approach. Despite his youthful appearance, this young man was probably the most powerful wizard in the place, and would have no difficulty smashing Skylar into paste if he felt like it. He was sure that you didn't get to be master of a guild like Fairy Tail by collecting bottle caps.

A Place for the Stormcaller to Call Home Empty Re: A Place for the Stormcaller to Call Home

Post by Mura Kensho 23rd April 2020, 11:17 am

What Mura heard from the newcomer was that he utilized Stormcaller Magic. It sounded like he possessed a rather destructive magic where one could summon storms, and at first, Mura would have wanted him to hold back and do this outside as he didn’t want to spawn a tornado or a cumulonimbus cloud inside the guild hall. However, the previous spell performance was small and controlled, so what was wrong in some trusting…?

Skylar raised his hands and manifested another spell, to which Mura stood back and observed. He spotted a gust of wind travel in from the entrance to the guild hall, wrapping around Skylar sharply but without any force. Not even Mura’s hair waved in response to the gust, which must’ve been intentional. A miniature hurricane spawned between his hands now, and it bristled with bolts of lightning. This was, in its very essence, a mini storm. Skylar quickly molded it into a sword made of sharp wind and other particles, mostly water and electric bolts. And as quickly as he spawned it, after swinging it slowly before them all, Skylar dismissed it with a burst of wind and an after scent of ozone.

Not that Mura knew exactly what ozone smelled like…

“Yes, I’m impressed,” Mura responded to him with a soft smile, “You’re here to join Fairy Tail, right? Damn, we’ve been getting a lot of new recruits, lately… I like where things are going.” Chuckling a bit in sweet delight, Mura took a closer look and even circled around Skylar for a moment before arriving at his previous position and continuing the conversation. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before. Are you a traveler? Or, perhaps, in search of fortune…?” His way of asking was to lead the newcomer to tell something about himself, so Mura wouldn’t feel left out from too much information about the stranger.

"I want to become strong, like my father." Skylar replied to the guildmaster. "I want to gain power, and I decided Fairy Tail was the place to do it." He then dropped his voice, speaking just above a whisper. "More importantly, I want to find him again. To do that, I need to get stronger."

With that said, the Stormcaller made a slight bow to the guildmaster, awaiting his judgement. He desperately wanted to join Fairy Tail, but it wouldn't do to let anyone know that. So he waited in silence, gazing... down at one of the most powerful wizards in Fiore. That wasn't disconcerting at all, nope.
