Unique Duo (Social)

It was rare for Zachary to go to the training floor of the Guild hall, not since he came up there due to their Master's request for better training, but he wanted to better his arts with his new magic-- the Arc of Cosmos. Since his time to obtain the magic for it, he had learned how to use more of its spells and what they did. As he stood in the training room, int he air above him-- a group of magical stars orbited around him.

The macro cosmos spell, which created a multitutde of magically conjured stars he could direct and control at will. However, it required a great deal of concentration and he was stationary the whole time. He had them moving in orbits, over and over, as he had his eyes closed to focus on maintaining them.

Elsewhere, Astral the stair fairy, Zachary's loyal and loving companion floated nearby with a bag of cookies he got from the galley. The little star would nibble on them bit by bit, but watched as Zachary slowly moved the stars overhead. Though well beyond the star fairy's ability to understand, he could tell his friend was deep in training and working on his magic.

CRASH!

One of the wooden dummies behind Zachary would rattle loudly as a bolt of black and white magic smashed straight into the center of it. It wouldn't be immediately clear who struck it until a voice came from a distance. "Needs more..." came the low, rumbling tone of Magnus muttering to himself. He took a step back and prepared his next spell in his hands, his eyes dead-focused on the dummy the entire time.

"Chaos Blast!"

Another bolt of black and white magic hit the dummy, this time with slightly less force than before and earning another low rumble as Magnus growled. "Not enough..." he grumbled, but didn't step back this time. The Chaotic Body mage was determined to increase the range of his signature spell, determined to make it just as powerful regardless of the distance he was having to use it at, but it seemed he was hitting a bit of a wall with it at the moment. Nonetheless he kept trying.

"Chaos Blast!"

A third black and white bolt hit the dummy, this time just about matching the strength of the first. Satisfied, Magnus took another step back and prepared for another.

Each bang made Zachary flinch a bit as he tried to be 'zenned' for his spell to work. Each time the chaos blast went off, even Astral the star fairy would flinch in the air. He 'sat' in the air as he looked at all the activity, curious as to what was going on and who did what. But he was quiet and just watched as they worked. He wanted to rest on Zachary's head but he didn't want to break his focus.

Zachary kept his mind calm as he slowly rotated the stars around him, however the third bang made him sigh and open his eyes. He waved his hands away and each star-shaped object shimmered and vanished. As each one dissipated, Zachary turned to see who else was in the training hall-- as he had not noticed the presence of another.

The man he looked at was pretty intimidating. A man with wild white hair and green highlights, shirtless and ripped with an athletic physique that wasn't uncommon in Fairy Tail for the mercenaries around who were members. His use of the odd white and black magic was interesting as he observed a glimpse of it. Still he wasn't able to use his magic-- at least that specific spell with lack of focus.

"Um, I never tried to use these dummies before," He started, not noticing it till just now. They must of been new. Still he didn't want to broach the topic of 'do not disturb', as he didn't want to be rude. That and the guy was clearly older and more intimidating than the young boy was. "What kind of magic is t that anyway?"

Magnus had begun to prepare another Chaos Blast, the magic pooling in his hand and very quickly becoming ready to let loose, but just as he raised his hand up he was interrupted by a small voice to the side of him. The Chaos mage turned his head to take a look at the source of the voice and, at the same time, released the blast which shot across the room and crashed into the dummy's head, shattering it. "I made them myself." Magnus stated proudly as be placed a hand on his hip. The boy in front of him must have been in his early to mid-teens at most, and was a fair bit shorter than Magnus was. His light-blue hair and teal eyes were easily the most noticeable part of the boy's features though. But it was the words that came out of his mouth that caught Magnus' attention the most - he was curious on Magnus' magic.

The Chaos Mage smiled and leaned back against the wall, making himself look a little smaller and less intimidating - or at least trying to - as he spoke. "It is a form of Chaos magic. I have been told it is a non-elemental magic that blends and leans towards light and dark aspects." he replied before chuckling. "I do not fully know myself. I am still learn. Magic is still very new to me."

"What of you? What magic do you use?"

It appeared that the man was new to magic himself. it made Zachary hard to imagine there were people who had magic yet didn't know how it worked. It took study and practice, but it was clear this guy had the practice part down. He seemed to be a bit intimidated by him as he said he made the dummies himself and soon addressed him more casually. Still, Zachary had to admit he was a rather awesome-looking guy. He was strong and imagined he was quite popular among the guild, despite the fact he never met him till now. The use of Chaos Magic was confusing to Zachary as he described it to be none elemental. But Chaos by definition was ambiguous in nature. Itt was interesting to Zachary all the same, as he studied magic enough to want to know it more.

When asked about the magic he had, Zachary blinked into attention. By then Astral also was curious, and floated closer to Zachary. "Um, well. Truth is I am a Celestial Wizard. You know, the spirits and keys to the constellations. But recently I been practicing a lost magic that is more commonly known as "Astromancy". It's a bit confusing. But some of the spells are very complicated to do properly. "

Which is why the sounds before disrupted his concentration-- which he wasn't going to say.

Astral soon plopped onto his head, adding a small needed sense of comfort to the young boy to have his companion on him like that. Made him feel warm and fuzzy.

"Um, who are you? I don't recognize you from around the guild." Zachary asked.

The pause from the man-made Zachary uncomfortable a bit. While to his credit, Zachary was smarter than average for most people but it was due to his study and dedication to magic. He was not the brawler that Magnus appeared to be. The guy was rippling muscle and charisma it made Zachary jealous as the type of guy who was tremendously popular, especially with the ladies. Compared to Zachary being a bit more ordinary. The fact that he was of that other persuasion, of course, was given by the clear confusion he had.

Astral, both innocent and not always quick on the uptake, mimicked his expression and tilted his head upon Zachary, as if it was a game.

Of course he changed his composure with the 'grandiose' and somewhat 'boastful' introduction.

Zachary merely blinked at that, feeling the sheer 'hot air' coming off of him. "Magnus the Supreme? Isn't that a bit redundant?" Zachary somewhat joked, seeing the irony of it. However, he went to try and remove Astral from his head.

As he approached, Zachary stepped back with a hand out. "Whoh, easy!" Zachary said, feeling Astral flinch on his head. "Relax. He's a friend. This is Astral."

Hiii-hiii! Astral chirped in telepathic talk, the only way the star critter could communicate. New Fwiend! Clearly Astral was much like a small child compared to Zachary as he greeted Magnus.

Astral continued to flutter about, happy to meet Magnus. He floated beside Zachary as Magnus got used to him. It was a surprise by the fact this guy soon addressed him, and asked who he was. Zachary blinked as he smiled at Magnus. "Oh, sorry... I'm Zachary. I'm a relatively new member to Fairy Tail. Nice to meet you," Zachary explained, nodding to him in greeting. He raised his right hand and showed the blue Fairy Tail mark on his hand.

He wasn't sure what to interpret how to proceed now, partly due to the fact that Zachary was interrupted by Magnus' magic practice. His practice involved raw power, while Zachary required concentration for finesse.

Then a crazy idea did cross Zachary's mind. It was insane. Probably not smart, but it was the impulse to do some real practice that could spice up this meeting. He wanted to talk more but Magnus seemed like a guy who preferred action to words. So he took a bet on it.

"Since we both need practice... do you want to spar with our magic?" Zachary asked. He at least knew how to control his own energy more than using raw force.

The overly eager smirk on Magnus' face was a cause for concern for Zachary, as he had a hint of regret. Why did he ask for a sparring match? Like the last one went over so well? Even Astral flinched upon his head as he realized a battle was about to go down. It made him wonder for a guy who wasn't the smartest, knew to hold back a bit. Killing one another was far from his intent...

But Zachary took a breath and calmed down. This would help him better to fight an actual opponent than depend on just dummies or practice using the magic. He needed some trial by fire.

As Magnus asked for 3 taps and rules, Zachary shrugged and agreed. With it, Astral knew things were about to get heated so he quickly fluttered up in the air and rejoined Ruby at the end of the room with a high whistle. "Sure, and I presume no summons then?" Zachary asked.

It was an obvious assumption. If this was to test their abilities, summoning Celestial Spirits, even with his skill of evolution to them, wouldn't be much of a test of his abilities. He had to push his understanding of the Arc of Cosmos further, and a true combat test probably was just what he had to do.

Whenever Magnus was ready, Zachary raised his hands forward and focused. With it, a magic circle of Star-magic appeared before him, the focus and matrix of the Arc of Cosmos to channel the cosmic forces into Zachary.
