The sun was starting to rise above the horizon as Francis spoke to the captain of the “Green Leaf”, a merchant ship under the protection of the West Fiorie Trading Company. For the past couple of months Francis had been traveling all about Fiorie taking missions to gain renown and to increase his power. While on those missions he grew in strength and power and acknowledging this growth Francis had been given a quest to test his metal. The mission was simple, to capture and destroy a pirate band who had been raiding and pillaging merchant ships that belonged to or were protected by the guild. But he had to admit, he wasn’t entirely keen on destroying this band of pirates. They were simply doing what they had to do in order to survive, while living a free and good life. Honestly, Francis respected them for living however they wanted, to take whatever they pleased. It was the kind of life that Francis lived and the kind of life he wanted to make for everyone, though currently, he didn’t have the resources to do that.
For the most part, he was leeching off the West Fiore Trading Company. He needed them for funding for expeditions and for the status given to him as a guild landed mage. Without that Francis would not have been able to find the legendary map that would lead to the codex. Therefore, Francis had to do what the guild said, he couldn’t just ditch them right here and now. For now, he would do as he is told while waiting in the shadows, but one day things would change, and he’d be the big boss. Francis left early that morning to go find a ship that would take him to the location of the pirate attacks. He planned on using a merchant ship as a lure to bring about the attention of the Pirates. Then he would surprise them and use his dark powers to subdue them; unfortunately, he had to subdue them.
Perhaps, Francis could make it seem like he killed them and take them as his own. Or he can throw them in prison, and when the time comes, he can release them. A jailbreak does sound incredibly fun and it could allow him to make connections with some strong dark mages and whatnot. Zehahahahahaha. Now, that would be an incredibly interesting and fun way to get a crew. Zehahahahahahaha. But he would have to bide his time and wait until it was the right time for him to strike. One day, one day; one day it would be his hour; where he would create his era and conquer all those who impose him. On that day he would have the power of a god, and he’d be youthful, and no one would stop him. Zehahahahahaha.
Until then he would just wait and bide his time. Francis finally made his way to the docks, and there he found the captain of a ship known as the Green Leaf. He would board the ship and question for the captain, after all while, Francis would come face to face with the man and the two would have a long chat. Francis would explain his plan and after a brief argument the captain would agrue with his plan, and after Francis promised him that it would not affect the ship. Likewise, he would inform the man that any damage would be compenstated by the guild and whatnot. And after that informaiton was given, Francis was allowed to bored the ship and after a few minutes they would set sail.
The ride was for the most part boring. The crew didn’t really take time to make conversation with him, and for the most part they did really socialize with anyone but themselves. They gave Francis dirty looks and right now, which annoyed and amused him at the same time. Maybe they could smell the darkness rolling off of him, or how superior he was to them. Zehahahaha. This is amusing indeed. At last they all gathered around for some drinks, and Francis joined them. After a few moments of getting drunk, Francis finally got them to laugh and have fun with them. One of the crew members however, seemed to have been bored with his position and wanting to be free.
Francis would chat with this stray crew member and convince him to join him. This man told him that he was bored with his position and wanted to feel excitement for once in his life. He explained that working on this trade ship while fun at first was just the same thing over and over again, and he was tired of it. Of course, Francis gave him a speech about how he should follow his dreams, and that he should do whatever he wanted. Heck, he even suggested that he would take him under his wing and teach him how to truly be free. Zehahahahahahahaha. The man seemed to have been interested in the idea, and he seemed to toy with it in his thoughts. The seed had been plant, and Francis couldn't help but smirk evilly. The guy was honestly interested and from what he heard from everyone on the ship he was a darn good marskman.
Honestly, Francis needed a team in order to hunt the codex. He understood that he could not do it alone and he needed a crew of skilled people, people he could use to gain the power he so desires. Maybe, or well he planned for this man to be a member of his crew, it would just take more time. Time that he was willing to spend his time telling this man of his adventures and whatnot. All in a patient game of seducing and deceiving, all in the hopes that he would join him and his soon to be crew. But that single man would not do, he needed a ship as well, and more members to man it. The next day they were attacked by the pirates.
Francis wasn't surprised that they decided to preform a sneak attack. After about 30 minutes or so, Francis managed to board the ship and use his magic to subdue the pirates who had been bothering the ship, it was a grueling battle but eventually Francis was able to come through. His darkness consumed the ship, and they were taken prisoner back to the guild.
