The Peace village, an idyllic little dot on the map known for being exactly that. It was generally so peaceful and quiet that many came there just for the sake of relaxation and recollecting themselves after weeks or months of tirelessly busting themselves apart for the sake of their jobs. About a year ago, he had been to this place, albeit not quite as himself, especially not as he was now. To say that his body had been here however, that was a far better explanation that would unfortunately make zero sense to anyone who heard it. Luckily for him, no one needed to hear a word about it.

Wandering closer to the village underneath his hood and coat, he looked at the farmlands he passed along the way. Sparking a memory of when he had been sent here for the sake of a quest, he remembered the farmer that was living nearby with his family. At the time, his family had put out quite a bit of money for someone to come and save their father that had gone missing. Due to the events of Samhain, which placed the boundaries between this material world and various darker worlds at their thinnest, the cause of the farmer going missing had been because of a powerful demon and his underlings. Remembering the demon that could take on the shape of an entire murder of crows which it used to attack, it eventually came straight at him in its true form. Faced against the magic of Solmar, the beast burned before it could even get close enough to do any real damage.

After this underling had been dispatched, others came at him, taking the material bodies of the scarecrows scattered across the fields, attacking the former wizard saint with farming tools was the next logical step along the road of combat.

As he fought them off, the demon lord that had brought his minions to this farm for the sake of establishing a foothold popped up in an attempt at catching him off guard. In a blaze of glory that seemed to still scar the fences surrounding the field as a result of the magical flames, the demon had been defeated for the first time, his lackeys reduced to ash. Whether the fences had been left the way they were to remember the one who saved the farmer or because of a lack of money was not something Thagirion knew, nor cared about. Even as the demon lord fell, the fact that it kept rematerializing meant Solmar had to destroy him about fifteen times before he realized the creature was using a phylactery to store his soul and keep him from being banished.

Knowing well enough that the locals would remember his face, he looked through the codex inside of him, filled with all the magical templates of souls belonging to those that had died near him. Using his magic to reshape his skeletal structure, his exterior features and mimic the voice to perfection, the black hood and coat no longer covered up a dark haired man. Instead, they now concealed a female brunette, her left arm and right leg covered in large sleeve tattoos. From what he could remember about her, she had been a rather fiery presence that riled up various other thugs when he moved about the outskirts of Hosenka. Before he truly understood the use of currency in this material world, he had been walking around with a rather loose purse of coins.

Considering him to be an easy target, the woman and her henchmen came down upon him under the cover of night, believing the shadows would come to their aid. One could only imagine the dread they experienced when those same shadows came to life and ate them, leaving not even blood or bone behind for the local authorities to find.

As far as he could tell, no one would miss these lowlife bottom-feeders that had ruined their own lives with drugs, theft, murder and other criminal activities that only further fueled the former to no end. In that regard, Thagirion believed that he would be able to make far better use of them when moving forward with his own goals. The form of this woman was ideal for this village, as anyone who saw her would likely believe that she had a hard life behind her and could very much benefit from the peaceful tranquility of the village. Finding that the female body took some getting used to, it was nothing he couldn’t learn to do in the next few minutes. So by the time he, or in this case “She” made her way to the village, Thagirion took a quick look around the place. Feeling that little to nothing had changed since the last time she had been here, she made her way towards the local pub.

Ordering a pint of ale, she sat down by the window so she would be able to see what kind of people might make their way into her general area. Opening the window ever so slightly so that she would be able to pick up the scents and sounds from outside, she made use of her magic to let her know whenever a mage with a decent amount of magic would enter into a roughly one kilometer radius. With that, she started drinking the first of many ales of that afternoon. Continuing the trend of ordering and working down one ale after the other for about two hours, the fact that alcohol had no effect on her meant that she merely had to play along while her mind remained un-addled by the booze. Right now, all that was required of her was patience, and patience was something she had in tropes after being locked away for millennia.

Today was turning out a lot longer than had been expected.

What was supposed to be a routine investigation mission had turned into a slog as train delays and cancellations - with the most direct route from Ace of Spades to Era being closed off due to a broken down train - resulting in Kyra and her partner having to take the long way back. But just when things seemed to be going somewhat smoothly, their train had broken down as well and left them stranded just outside of Peace Village. The pair now had a few options; find alternative travel the rest of the way back to Era, walk back to Era (unlikely given how both Rune Knights were bordering on exhaustion), or rest the night in Peace Village and travel the remaining distance the next day.

The pearl-haired maiden leaned against the side of one of the train's many carriages, releasing a sigh as she did so before looking up at her trusted drone. "V-1, can you add "Mode of Transport" to my to-do list please?" she asked it. The drone beeped twice and a red light flickered on its top for a moment before turning green. "Command confirmed. "Mode of Transport" added to to-do list. Did you wish to hear your to-do list now, Mistress?" the drone, Vanguard-1, would enquire. She chuckled slightly and shook her head.

"No thanks V-1. How are your energy levels?"
"Beep. Beep. Energy levels at 26%."
"Switch to Level 1 status. Preserve your energy levels until we work out what's happening."
"Command confirmed. Switching off all unnecessary functions. Returning to base functions.
    Click!
    Beepbeep."

The drone lowered itself onto the ground next to Kyra and its rotors slowed to a complete stop, the only sign of it still being online being the green light on its top. With that exchange done, Kyra turned to her partner. "So what's the plan, Aiden? No trains means no public travel. We could borrow one of those vehicles that runs on magic but I can't run it, and I don't want you burning yourself out. Or we can rest up in the village and hope the trains are running tomorrow. It's your call." she asked, crossing her arms and smiling as she awaited an answer. Of course she wanted to get back to HQ sooner rather than later - she had a lot of projects on right now - but she wasn't going to burn Aiden of his magical power to do so as it would put him out of commission for at least a day or two.

For most of the train ride back to the HQ, Aiden slept. That previous job knocked a lot of energy out of him.  He was a very light sleeper, didn’t snore at all. He always was able to “disappear” from rooms because of how quiet he could be at times. He would be woken up from his slumber when the train seemed to come to a slow halt. The conductor proclaimed to everyone that the train had broken down. He signed a bit out of the frustration of it all as they had to take the long way back in the first place because of a broken train.

He tuned into Kyra and V-1’a conversation before she turned to him and asked what they should do. He shrugged; he wasn’t against getting a magic powered vehicle as he had some time to restore his magic power. The problem was that he was still a little physically exhausted from the job before. He eventually spoke up “I think we should rest in town for the night. I’m a little tired and could use the rest. Plus, V-1 sounds like it could use a rest as well.” He said briefly before smiling and clapping his hands. He decided that it would be best to find a room sooner in the afternoon rather than later. “I’m going to find us a place to stay. You can explore around or follow if you want” he said before turning and walking into the town. He gently took a breath of air as he walked. He wasn’t used to being around someone for this long so his interactions may have seemed a bit weird or awkward to his partner.

He placed his hands in his pockets and looked around the town as he walked, trying to find some place to rest at. He was wearing his Rune Knight uniform so that might have made him or the duo stand out a little bit.

By the time Thagirion had had enough to drink by human standards, she knew that there were people around the pub who had also gone well past the limit of how much liquor they should have been ingesting. Even regularly nice people who had been drinking too much ran the risk of becoming utterly insufferable assholes, and that was something she had been betting on. Biding her time drinking until decent enough magical signatures entered the village, it had already become clear that most of the people here were nothing serious. At this point, Thagirion had already come to the point of believing that this place was more or less just a case of bad luck for her. When two odd signatures entered into her range though, a portion of a smile formed on her face as she zoomed her attention in on them.

One of them was clearly a mage since she could sense their magical presence even from where she was sitting, which was one of the perks of the magical powers she possessed. While she would not be able to tell what this person was capable of just by doing this kind of reading, it at the very least helped her figure out what level of magic she was dealing with here. As for the other, well, that was an entirely different story. Were it not for the fact that she could hear her as she walked across the pavement and breathed in and out, Thagirion would not have been able to tell that she was even a person at all. Sensing some peculiar type of magic that seemed to be much less organic than what she was used to, part of her just wanted to wander straight out of the pub and confront them just to see what this might be with her own eyes. Unfortunately, doing that would end up conflicting with previously established plans.

Coming to the conclusion that she would get to witness things soon enough as the two of them were heading in her direction, all she really needed to do now was to set up the situation that would breed a bit of conflict. Pondering over to the person that had the most to drink, she stumbled over towards the bar and bumped into him as she ordered another pint of ale. At first reacting rather aggressively, the fact that she was a woman quickly changed his behavior into a very different kind. Grabbing a good handful of her butt, she responded by slamming the empty mug against his face as hard as she believed your average woman might be able to. Shattering the mug on impact, the man winced before rising from his barstool and sending a punch her way. Evading it ever so elegantly, he struck the man sitting next to him across the jaw and instigated what was known to some as a “bar brawl”.

Several minutes after the fight started, a couple of men took the fight outside where fists were now flying towards one another in the otherwise peaceful town. Still fighting her own target, she made no real attempts at lashing out as much as she did towards making sure she would not be struck. Luckily for her, the sluggish drunk did not seem to have any kind of martial training to back him up. And if he had, the alcohol had clearly done a huge enough number on it to the point where it was almost nonexistent. By her estimate, it would not be long before the two mages would see what was going on ahead of them, a fine test of character that would let her know exactly what kind of people she would be dealing with. For as much fun as it was to just go along with things and see how the situation would develop, she had come to get a taste for knowing things ahead of time as it allowed her to create a far more suiting environment.

Ducking underneath another half-assed punch, she kicked the guy in front of her straight in the groin, to which he responded by dropping to one knee and creating a magic circle. Reaching in, he pulled out a large Warhammer made entirely out of ice, proving that he was in fact a mage capable of at least some level of offensive magic. Backing up a bit so the man would need to first get back on his feet before closing the distance for another attack, it seemed that the other brawlers who were capable of utilizing magic had also gotten tired of flinging hits around. Clearly the situation had by now escalated far enough to warrant some type of intervention.

After agreeing to head into the village to find a place to rest, the trio of humans plus drone headed forward, keeping their eyes (or in V-1's case, his camera lens) peeled for where an inn might be located. It was getting fairly late by now and so the sky was beginning to get dark. Lights could be seen through the windows and, for the most part, the village had a very relaxed vibe. Kyra spotted a building in the distance that looked like a tavern or something along those lines, which was a surefire spot to get information. However, as she was about to suggest going their to Aiden, two men tumbled out of the door with fists flying. Kyra watched for a brief moment, stunned. This was the Peace Village, right? Brawls were incredibly rare here...

But she snapped out of it shortly after as the sounds of more brawling inside caught her attention. "Sorry V-1, you're going to have to stay in The Database a while!" she told her drone, before he suddenly vanished to the sound of beeping. Kyra then turned to Aiden. "Something clearly isn't right here. I'm going in." she declared, before rushing towards the tavern, nimbly dodging around the two men that were still brawling and bursting in through the door. What she saw was utter chaos; mages and non-mages alike were flinging whatever they could at each other, be it magic, punches or furniture. One such piece of furniture, a stool from the bar by the shape of it, came flying across the room at the Rune Knight who reacted quickly, requipping her shield just in time as the stool shattered against it. The violence was escalating more in the short time since the pearl-haired girl had entered, and she suddenly became aware that, in spite of her personal strength, this wasn't something she could handle alone. Nonetheless she waded in, using her shield to block incoming spells and strikes before they hit their recipients as she attempted to get to somewhere sturdy and high enough to get the attention of the populace. Failing that, she always had a back-up plan...

Aiden’s eyes immediately snapped to look over at the commotion that was coming out of the bar. He saw two men tumble outside of the bar, fists duking it out with one another. Kyra turned to him and said she was going in and that scared Aiden a bit “Maybe we should thin-“ she had already rushed in before he got the chance to finish his words. He signed and rubbed the back of his head “This IS peace village, right?” he muttered under his breath as he decided to handle the two men outside before heading on it.

In truth, the knight didn’t really know how to handle the situation. He was a newer knight and from what he could tell Kyra was way more efficient than him. Hell, he didn’t even know how to fight that well. Before this he had been on only three missions, the first one being the first time he had fought anything ever. Knowing this fact, he decided to try and stop the situation peacefully before using any force as his magic would cause some harm to these people. He approached from behind and would pat the one of the men on the shoulder “Excuse me sir. I would like to ask you two to stop please... or else you will have to answer to the Rune Knights.” He would speak softly but seriously as he flashed his Rune Knight symbol.

One of the men became visibly shocked and decided to back down without a fight, realizing that it was a stupid brawl to begin with. The other man however met him with aggression “Oh yeah? And what are YOU going to do to stop me?” he growled, advancing on the smaller boy. Aiden would take a few steps back, putting his hands up to show he meant no harm “S-Sorry sir... It’s just, what’s the reason for fighting in the first place? Did he do anything to you?”

The man scratched his head, confused at the situation. He was obviously drunk and not the smartest tool in the shed. “Not Exactly...” he said, letting his guard down a bit. After seeing this, Aiden would decide to let his guard down as well “Good. Now, tell me what the situation is and me and my partner can deal with things accordingly.” he gave the man a warm, comforting smile.  Both the men would take their time explaining that they weren’t exactly sure what had happened and that all of a sudden, a fight had broken out and they joined in.  It wasn’t a very insightful explanation from two drunk people and got Aiden nowhere. He sighed and shook his head “Thank you for your time... Please go home and be safe now.” He sent the two men off and watched as they stumbled down the road, presumedly going to their respective homes.

Aiden would then walk inside of the bar, clapping his hands together “Alright Kyra, I handled those gu-“ The scene before him was something the was so chaotic that he stopped himself In his tracks.

    “Uhhh...”

Even though she was nowhere near as fast as some of the close combat fighters or battle mages she had seen up until now, she was still more than fast enough to evade the heavy strikes sent in her direction by the drunk combatant. As she almost danced around the strikes, she watched as the new arrivals got involved with the fighting, using his powerful senses in order to pick up as much as she could from them without actually making an effort at looking in their direction. For the sake of appearances, she would keep her eyes locked on the man with the frozen hammer while literally every single one of her other senses were focused on the two mages that had entered the fray. Even though she could not see, she could feel the use of magic and the sound of something beating against a solid object. Doing a spin-dodge, she caught a glimpse of a shield having entered into the situation, leading her to believe that one of the two mages had access to Requip, just like she did.

Ducking under the horizontal swipe of the hammer, the woman maneuvered herself close enough to the man while taking a deep breath at the same time. Upon exhaling, she did so by releasing a powerful torrent of water at the same time, blasting the man off of his feet and carrying him along on the current. Blowing him through the air like a ragdoll without any input of his own, he eventually crashed into a bunch of barrels as the remaining water ran across the streets, washing what little filth remained from the tiles. Rising back to her feet, she managed to hear how one of the two mages managed to talk two of the drunken brawlers out of committing any further acts of violence while trying to figure out what had caused the fighting to happen in the first place. While it was a valiant attempt, the drunkards did not seem to have anything coherent to offer, so they were swiftly let go and sent on their way home.

A solid effort boy, though these people are not exactly in the mood or the state of mind to really answer any questions. You should probably help out your lady friend.

Speaking with an audible tone of voice that was just a bit short of yelling, she told one of the two mages that he should probably help out the one that he had come here with as she was in the process of deflecting attacks from caster-type drunks. In an attempt at helping out, she waved her hand around gracefully, controlling the water on the tiles and moving it up into the air. Making it all thin and sharp, she sent it down in the form of a barrage rain that would pierce into their skin and cause a great deal of pain and discomfort that would hopefully put the drunkards into a less violent state. In the best case scenario, it would hurt them enough to the point where they would choose to lay down their arms and make a run for it, though things rarely worked out that way with humans. While unpredictable, in some cases, they were the exact opposite in that they often did exactly as planned, something she had proven when she more or less started this out of hand bar brawl.
