While dryads were considered spirits of the forest they didn't have much to with the spiritual realms. They represented the supernatural, mystical elements of nature, but they were still solidly part of this world, unlike other spiritual entitites who could be considered invaders from another plane of existence.
As such while many might believe that Lily might have a better idea of what happened to all the people who had disappeared recently she honestly wouldn't have a clue. She knew that there were creatures who took an interest in kidnapping living beings for some reason or another but she wouldn't know more about them than someone from civilization, especially if they'd taken the time to study up on the subject and research past cases.
So to put it simply, Lily wasn't entirely sure what she was supposed to be doing. She'd heard that people had been disappearing without a trace and wanted to help, but she wouldn't have the first idea where to start. Going to places where people had gone missing would probably be a good start but she still would have to figure out what to look for once she got there. Maybe she was just supposed to find anything which looked out of the ordinary and only afterwards start thinking about what might be the actual cause.
She'd asked Libbier to help her out, because while she didn't have any reason to believe that her friend had a close connection to the spirit world she was an enthusiastic explorer who might have learned something during her travels. Most of the dryad's journeys just involved her moving from one piece of wilderness to another, which didn't really offer a lot of clues towards the behaviour of otherworldly creatures.
Right now Lily was waiting outside of a village which uniquely had every single one of its inhabitants disappear. It was a small settlement, more of a hamlet than a real village, which was probably why everyone had disappeared. Larger towns and cities were in an uproar but this place just seemed... empty. There was no sign of life except that which had strolled in after the people who lived her had gone... wherever they'd gone.
As usual the dryad was sitting on top of her friend and companion, Basin the earth guardian. Ze didn't have any idea what this was about either. In a way ze had even less life experience than Lily because while the girl was younger in years she'd spent her years wandering about, whereas the stone figure had spent most of zirs existence guarding a single location before the dryad had convinced zir to come explore the world with her.
The weather didn't tell of anything being out of the ordinary, a wide open sky with some clouds promising rain later. Lily had tried to agree upon meeting with Libbier a bit later than during the winter solstice because this village was a bit out in the middle of nowhere and... she had no idea how long this would take. Maybe they'd immediately figure out what was going on and solve the problem within an hour (which she doubted but maybe they were lucky) or it could take days in which case it didn't really help to be a couple of hours earlier. One might argue that every minute could result in the deaths of those who had gone missing but there hadn't been any sign of those who were lost being in danger. There was no blood, no signs of struggle... They were just gone and that was that. That didn't mean she could just loiter about trying to figure out what was going on but it also made it a bit questionable whether hurrying would actually help.
As she waited Lily hummed somewhat nervously. The area might seem calm but watching the hamlet devoid of life was still unnerving because she didn't know what had caused it. Civilizations came and went and she was aware of this fact, but usually it was just the way things progressed. Things were born, matured and eventually withered away, and civilizations were no exception. But this was a much more abrupt change, and it was putting her on edge.
She hoped Libbier would arrive soon. Basin was a reliable companion but the more friends she had with her the more at ease she'd feel.
