Nazo was indeed a mysterious place, but what were they to expect? From what Zachariah read about the place, physics, logic, and reality itself were distorted. As opposed to the considerably ‘normal’ colors of Fiore, Nazo was filled with bright, contrasting colors. The grass here was a light blue, and the leaves on the trees were the color of the ocean. Mountains were afloat in the air, some upside down, and waterfalls appeared and streamed in every which direction. The water was orange, and the sky was a clear visage into space; colorless and starry. Zachariah ogled at every new thing, but reigned himself back into work mode. There was a task at hand, one Zachariah wasn’t particularly proud of. Per the usual reason behind his otherworldly travels, him and his partner Beira were here to put to rest the magnificent Phoenix. This time around, they were here for the bird carrying the powers of fire and flames.
Due to this feisty description of the next phoenix, Zachariah expected it to reside in a more hellish landscape, but magic worked in odd ways. As of right now, he was considerably well rested and healed, despite the eerie feeling in his gut. Before departing from their last mission on the ice planet Kosestsu, he made sure to remove any battle scars and bruises caused by the last bout. Zachariah scanned the sky, searching for the indicative pillar of light, but was confused by the shifting terrain. Light bent in different ways here, and the pillar could very well be curving across the sky like a shooting star. “This place is...ethereal to say the least,” Zachariah commented. As he looked down, he noted that every step he took caused orange flowers to spring up from the ground like vines.
Cat-like creatures pounced around between floating islands, catching birds mid-air and taking their meals into the trees. Other than that, Zachariah didn’t see many other animals wandering about. Nevertheless, he kept his guard up, as always. One never knew what lurked in the darkness. When the path suddenly became dark, Zachariah summoned a Morning Star and held it up like a torch to light up a bubble around Beira and himself. Eventually, they came to the edge of the island they were walking upon, Zachariah nearly tripping over himself and falling into oblivion. After steadying himself, Zachariah increased the radius of the light and stared into the distance, finding an island some yards away. Even with gravity much looser here, Zachariah wasn’t sure if he could make that jump without magical assistance. He looked down over the edge too, where more islands floated about just above a raging ocean. “Well, isn’t this a dilemma?”
As natural light flooded back in and illuminated the landscape, Zachariah could see a pyre of fire reaching into space in the distance, but moving across the horizon. While he could see the shrine from here, it rested on a moving island, constantly hiding behind other pieces of terrain. Zachariah thought about summoning the Starlight Surfer, but feared the risk of colliding with an island or being caught in the maw of a wild cat. On the other hand, it would cut their trip time virtually in half. “Looks like we have two choices here. I can carry us straight to the shrine with the Starlight Surfer, or we can hop between islands until we reach it. What do you think?”
