Post by Rosetta Crawford 18th July 2013, 12:32 pm

"A man is sad. Maybe a man is tired of trying, Yes? No...that would not be your way Frederik. You are not the type to give up. You are the type to do anything, even sell your very soul to accomplish your one goal. The goal of reviving dear sweet cecilia." This is the voice that echoed through the mind of Lord Frederik as he found himself in a space devoid of life, light, sound and everything. He was in a state of pure nothingness, which for some reason put him in a space of infinite blackness. "You recently heard from Fenrir some cryptic message, yes? You wish to know how he knows and what he knows, hmmm? Well, I can tell you."

There was a flash of light and standing in front of Frederik was a man dressed in an entirely white suit, a top hat a top his head and a slender black cane with a silver falcon on top. "Who am I? Well...that isn't really of importance. You can think of me as a friend and for the purpose of this conversation you can call me Weiss." He slammed the cane down with a clack, which was strange as there was no ground below him. Or no...there was ground below him now. It spread from the cane's tip like the flame slowly burning a piece of paper. An image resolved itself. It was Frederik's home where he had lived with Cecilia and they were standing in the garden.

"A beautiful place, no?" he said and picked up one of the flowers, a white rose and sniffed it gently. "Ah...a sweet scent. Only by being raised with love could such a scent be acheived. Your wife's every finger must surely of been green." He looked at Frederik with a look that plainly said 'ask me your questions and maybe i will give you some answers'

Post by Godlike Frederik 18th July 2013, 12:53 pm

'Where am I... What is this place?'

These questions lingered through Frederick's head while he was standing in something that was pure blackness. Something that wasn't dead or alive, just nothingness. Or was he levitating, Frederick truly didn't know. He saw now floor, or walls or even something that would hint towards something materialistic.
Then an other voice echoed through his head, a calm voice. Almost soothing.
"A man is sad. Maybe a man is tired of trying, Yes? No...that would not be your way Frederik. You are not the type to give up. You are the type to do anything, even sell your very soul to accomplish your one goal. The goal of reviving dear sweet cecilia."
"You recently heard from Fenrir some cryptic message, yes? You wish to know how he knows and what he knows, hmmm? Well, I can tell you."

A sudden flash of light appeared blinding Frederick for a mere moment, only to reveal seconds later a strange man. He was entirely dressed in a white suit with a top hat. And in his hand he held a cane with the symbol of a falcon on top of it.
The new man introduced himself as Weiss, and told Frederick who he really was wasn't of much importance.
But then he slammed his cane down with a clacking sound, and floor started to appear. Spreading out from the very point he touched with his cane. The floor started to expand into walls, and those started to expand as well. Until Frederick's old home was standing front of him an Weiss.

He gently plucked a white rose from the gardens surrounding the mansion. And sniffed briefly at it.
"Ah...a sweet scent. Only by being raised with love could such a scent be acheived. Your wife's every finger must surely of been green."
All that while he looked at Frederick. With no emotion what so ever. Neither cold, or warm. Just a plain look.
'ask me your questions and maybe i will give you some answers'

There were a million questions that Frederick would wanted to ask, like how did this so called man called Weiss know about that wolf creature. Or why did he mention Cecilia. Even Frederick's curiosity about Weiss, what was he. Was he some kind of demon, a ghost. Or some spirit from some higher order.
After a short while of thinking it all through Frederick could only come up with one question.
'Why here... of all places why this place of personal torment?'
His tone sounder bitter as Frederick looked pained at the white rose in Weiss his hand. The same color of roses that Frederick loved so much.

"I did not choose the place." the man said and then pointed the cane at Frederik's forehead. "Your mind chose it. I merely provided a means of travel." He lowered the cane and tapped the ground again. This time he tapped twice. The door opened and from it walked a figure that Frederik would recognise instantly. "This time it was not your mind, but your heart." Weiss said as the figure walked through him and looked at Frederik with a smile.

"Its been a while Frederik." she said with a faint smile, but sadness clearly laced her voice. "You've changed so much...I barely recognise you."

"You may ask more questions of me if you like, or you may talk to her. It is your choice." he said and backflipped onto one hand then sprung himself upwards onto a small ledge above the door, which had mysteriously closed itself. "She cannot sense me in any way. To her I am a mere fiction, but you are real. Very much so." Weiss looked at Frederik with a look of knowing on his face, the cane across his lap and winked. "There is a lot you can learn...if you ask the right questions."

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Godlike Frederik 18th July 2013, 1:31 pm

Frederick was shocked, he didn't saw this coming. In front of him stood Cecilia. The one and only he had ever loved. But it was not like an hallucination, she looked far too real to be like that. But then again this world wasn't real. As Weiss said that Frederick choose this locations with his mind, and then called for her with his heart. Then this place has an reaction to anything you feel or do or at least that is what he guessed right now.
All this was going through his head until Cecilia spoke to him.
Her soft soothing voice, always kind even when she was sad. Like it could tame the wildest beasts by only whispering to them.

"Its been a while Frederik. You've changed so much...I barely recognise you."

    'Cecilia...'

Frederick could barely utter her name, she sounded perfect. Just like she always did. Then her words about how much he changed reached him. Frederick himself never really though about it, as outside appearance he probably didn't change much in those years. Maybe a little thinner after always searching for her. But it wasn't on his outside that made him look different, it was how Frederick was currently on the inside. The caring eyes he once had were gone, and were now replaced with a cold and always tired look. Her death and Frederick's years of darkness had made him far more bitter then he himself even realized.

Frederick walked up Cecilia and laid his hands on the side of her face. Gently stroking her left cheek.
    'She even feels the same...'
He then focussed on Weiss, if there was a lot he could learn. Then he knew there was something hidden here. Something he had to discover.
'Something I can learn huh.. then tell me first. What is this place, is it part of my subconscious or am I on a different plane of existence'
Frederick noticed that when he spoke to Weiss that Cecilia could indeed not sense him. Apparantly she could only interact with Frederick. And didn't had the slightest sense if Frederick and Weiss talked with each other.

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Rosetta Crawford 18th July 2013, 1:46 pm

Weiss seemed to consider this for a few moments. "You are in a place called the Dreamscape. Sometimes when a man or woman is on the cusp of acheiving great power a great weariness overcomes them. This weariness is no ordinary tiredness, but instead it is the Dreamscape calling out to them trying to ensnare them." he said and looked into the distance. The actual house and its garden were just a bubble in the great blackness. "Your friend Naraku visited here once and faced a great challenge and became what your world call a B-Rank mage. However, your mind is different to hers. Hers was filled with battle, desires for revenge and a craving of power. Her mind's purpose was to conquer...whereas your mind does not rule you. No what rules you is your heart. A rare occurrence." The man pointed upwards with his cane and a pair of doves flew down and landed on it. Symbols of love as a pair. He smiled at them briefly. "So rather than testing you in terms of power...it will test your mind and your heart...like so."

It was then that Frederik would realise that Cecilia had stabbed him in the stomach with a small knife and why did he noticed only then? Because it was at that point that she twisted it. Yet the sad look never left her face. "You're not the man I love." The image of her faded as did the surroundings, but Weiss still sat there as if something was beneath him. The doves that sat upon his thing flew away from each other and turned black before fading into the darkness.

The man remained silent looking at Frederik who was still wounded by the knife despite the fact it had vanished along with Cecilia. Again he had that look from earlier. He had answers and all Frederik had to do was ask.

Frederick wanted to say something back to Weiss when he felt something dripping down his side. And then a sudden shock of pain was to be felt through his body, and when Frederick looked at what happen he saw Cecilia, who held a knife stabbed in his body. Her face was filled with sadness, something what Frederick. And just like back when they were together he hated that, he didn't want to see her sad.
'You're not the man I love'

With those words she slowly faded away together with the surroundings. While Frederick grasped his wound and pushed against it to stop the bleeding.
'Cecilia.. why. I am still the same..'

But it was too late, she was already gone before she even could hear him talk. Frederick then turned around with an angered face. He was about to burst out into anger. Something he barely did. Frederick always kept his cool.
But this time he was on the very edge on that. Little did he know this was just the first of the very things he would face in this dreamscape world.
'You insolent men! How dare you to toy with me like that. Even if this is a dollplay from my imagination. Cecilia would never do that to me! I would never betray her like that, and she would never do that to me!'

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Rosetta Crawford 19th July 2013, 4:01 am

"A man is angry at what he cannot understand." Weiss said without even looking at Frederik. "Yet his anger is not at me, but himself for he knows, even if he does not know that he knows, that in this particular world of the dreamscape everything he sees is a projection of what he feels in either mind or heart." The man known as Weiss sighed and slowly floated down till he was level with Frederik. " You serve the Lichborne, one of the darkest creatures to roam the world, you have worked with Naraku, now known as the King of Mutilation, Disaster Zone, Hell Queen and Guildmaster of Divine Torment. You have killed more people then you can count, some you even devoured with your magic. Yet through all this, in your heart you have always wondered if Cecilia would approve the path you have walked just to bring her back."

The man tapped the ground again and once more scenery formed from the tip of his cane, but it was not the house of Frederik and Cecilia that formed this time. It was a house of royalty. The house where Lord Frederik had grown up. "Ah a man see's his home for the first time in what feels like a life time. Yet he wonders why Weiss has brought him here, no?" he turned and began to walk up the stairs. "It seems your heart wishes to tell you something...something which occurred here that your mind has scrubbed away or perhaps hides. Does a man wish to follow his heart?" Weiss removed his hat and ran a hand through his long white hair before replacing the hat. "Remember at any point a man is always free to ask questions of Weiss."

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Godlike Frederik 19th July 2013, 5:57 am

It was true, It was exactly what Frederick was afraid of. Even if he didn't want to admit it, so hearing someone else say what Frederick himself always knew was even harder. But Frederick always told himself that it didn't matter what Cecilia would have thought of it. That what he had to sacrifice or kill was all being forgotten once he got her back.
With anger in his face Frederick looked at Weiss for being right, and watched the scenery change once again.

This time it was something from his early live, when he lived with his parents in their mansion. Carefree without problems, just as any aristocrat lifestyle. The impressive victorian mansion of which Frederick had grown tired of after his fiancee's passing.
'But why here, my past before Cecilia has nothing do with her dead right?'
This time Frederick's imagination took him on a different route, this time he wasn't confronted by a painful time in his life. No it was something that had happened but he had long forgotten.

Frederick saw a young men, from around 18 years old. Noticing a silver winged shaped necklace that hung around his own young neck he saw that this time was when he got just engaged with Cecilia.
'How weird... I don't remember this moment.'
Then there were voices to be heard, it was the stern voice of his own father. Talking with someone who sounded weird. Almost disgusting with a soft voice slithering like an eel.
The younger version of Frederick appeared to notice it as well, and started listening at the door. The current version of Frederick, did this as well.

'I won't stand for this! I never have heard such an outrageous request before in my life!' That was the voice of his father. Stern and direct, but angry as well.
'kekeke, off course you haven't. No one has, but your bloodline is bound to us.'
That was the other voice, the soft speaking voice that gave Frederick the creeps.
'No! I just won't put all my investments, my life work and family in jeopardy for you. And definitely not for a pact that my great grandfather made with you over a 150 years ago!'
'Tch, you can't back away like that. A pact is a pact, time doesn't let you break free from it. So I suggest that you do what we say or else I have to take more drastic measures'
'You can try! But I will make sure that you won't touch my blood! And even if I recall correctly, due to the pact you can't hurt us.'
'Maybe so.. but there is someone whom I can hurt. Someone who recently joined your little family'

The the doors to the room were pushed open hard enough that they banged loud against the wall. And at the same moment the younger version of Frederick stormed in.

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Rosetta Crawford 19th July 2013, 9:25 am

"Ah a man has always suspected this, no?" Weiss said walking through the wall, doors weren't really his style. "That the illness that took away his beloved might be no natural thing?" Weiss said nothing more than that really. The whole situation now was up to Frederik's heart and mind. Did he believe all of this to be reality? Mere thoughts that his mind had locked away or did he think it false? That perhaps his mind and heart were merely making things up to try and keep with his suspicions. In truth not even Weiss knew the answer. He was merely a guide in the Dreamscape, nothing more.

Weiss in all honesty was quite curious as to what would happen next. He had no control over it except to move the man from one projection to another. He had no knowledge of what would appear, but everytime something appeared he gained some knowledge of it, which was why he could make such comments. "A man must make up his own mind." he said as a last thought before returning to his silence to watch what was happening.

The father had turned to the younger Frederik and looked at him slightly aghast, but with a look of recognition on his face as if he'd finally understood the point the creepy voiced man had made. He looked at Frederik for a while in silence and a faint smile came to his face as he turned back to the creepy man. "I do not care what you do to Cecilia. I never approved of their union, she was far beneath his station, but I did not speak out for his happiness." he turned back to Frederik with an apologetic look on his face. "If it is the only way to keep the rest of my family and all our investments out of harm's way then so be it." he then spoke directly to Frederik. "You will understand me one day boy. Sometimes for the greater good decisions must be made"

With those last words Frederick's farther stepped forwards and laid his hand on his son's head. Frederick's younger versions eyes became empty, as it stared into nothingness.
'Now go, you will remember nothing of this'
With that the flashback ended, faded away once again. Leaving the present Frederick alone with Weiss again.

Frederick himself couldn't comprehend what he just saw, he was just standing there staring at his hands. Processing everything what he heard. He knew that his father always put the family name first. And that didn't made him a bad person, but Frederick didn't knew he would go that far to protect it. To sacrifice the love of his own son.
'This.. can't be.. all this time.' It.. it did cross my so now and then, but to actually hear it. That the disease that struck her was not by natural occurrences. How could I be.. so blind that I didn't want to recognize the facts that were laying around...'
'Weiss... is my resolve of bringing her back nothing more then a shallow hope, nothing more then a lie?'

"A man wants answers to questions that he already knows the answer to." Weiss said and swirled the staff before tapping the ground twice. This time the situation was again different. It showed the cemetry where Cecilia was buried, surrounded by white roses, a flower the two had both loved. "A man must continue or a man must give up. A man knows though that if he gives up then here he will remain, another man trapped in the Dreamscape like Weiss." The man shook his head and then twirled tapped the top of the grave with his cane.

"The path a man walks is a decision only he can make. He will meet many others, their paths may even join for a while, but a man's path is always his own." he said placing a hand on Frederik's shoulder companionably.

"I cannot give answers to you that you do not already know in your heart or mind, even if you do not know you know them." Weiss said with a slight note of sadness in his voice. He truly did wish in a way that he could tell Frederik more. Perhaps more of his memories would show more. He did not know. "But know that the path you walk at the moment leads to a destination that is almost impossible to reach." Frederik would already know this, but this was perhaps the only way that Weiss could show some reassurance.

Frederick fell down to his knees at the grave side, while Weiss kept talking and putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I cannot give answers to you that you do not already know in your heart or mind, even if you do not know you know them."
"But know that the path you walk at the moment leads to a destination that is almost impossible to reach."

Frederick let his hand slide over the top of some roses, the scent and touch reminded him of that day when he put her into the ground.
'I actually started to hate these roses at some point... I guess it was once again me trying to flee away from my true feelings'
He then stood up again and looked at Weiss, seeing in his eyes that the strange man of this world had also felt a kindred pain. Frederick felt some sort of a connection with this man, maybe their stories are different. But their pain is something they shared. But there was something he said earlier about being trapped in here, and that was something that Frederick didn't was planning on doing as well. He needed to discover the truth about Cecilia's death. And somewhere in his memories there was the answer, something he had missed in his daily life, a small thing probably. Something he thought was insignificant to who he became to be.
"You were talking about the path that I currently walk on, but is it truly the path that I should walk. But is it my own path... I feel that there is somehow more to the story about her death'

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Rosetta Crawford 19th July 2013, 3:14 pm

Weiss smiled slightly and the scene faded away to be replaced by another scene. A scene that this time involved a strange man trying to sell books to a younger Frederik on a market day. "A man has always wondered why this man would mention a book of necromancy when such a book might be the only thing to give the answers you seek, no?" Weiss had a strange way of talking. He made a statement and then ended it as a question as if he didn't already know the answer. "A man thought the merchant strange, but in his excitement his mind locked the thoughts away, no? A man now wonders why on such a warm day a merchant would keep his face cloaked, no?" He looked at Frederik and bit his lip deciding to try to help thhe man some more. There was an idea in the very back of Frederik's mind, one which was furrowed away as an impossibility yet Weiss, being someone who had seen such things many a time knew the thought had more credit. "A man thinks there may be a connection between this man and the one who spoke with his father, yes?"

Weiss could see, using the thoughts of Frederik as a guide, that an answer was very close. An answer that would help Frederik and remove some of his uncertainty. Perhaps enough to free him from the Dreamscape, but only if he had enough strength to do so. Weiss could never leave this place and in all honesty he'd like some more company, but there was something about Frederik that prevented him. Almost as if a voice was whispering in his ear. Frederik had to be freed and that meant Weiss had to try and steer him onto the right path, but he couldn't just tell the answers. No, if he did Weiss might have to face the Dreamer. He would not take that risk. "A man wonders if his path is truly his path, no?" It was the best Weiss could do. If Frederik looked into his eyes he would see that Weiss was hinting at the thoughts he needed to think about. However, Weiss knew that this path, whilst one of the few to Frederik's freedom from the Dreamscape, was like walking along a knife. If he strayed just a little he might fall and then he would be trapped. The Dreamer would be able to use his real body as he saw fit.

Post by Godlike Frederik 20th July 2013, 12:45 am

Frederick listened as he watched another scene from his past, something he remembered clearly. It was the first day after two months that he left house when Cecilia died. The day that he had bought a book with tales and myths about necromancy and reviving the dead.
But now he looked at it with a different perspective, and then he noticed it. The voice of the merchant, it was the same as the voice of the man who talked with his father. A soft but slithering voice, but just slightly different.
He watched as the pst Frederick was handed the book from the merchant.
    'What?!'
    The current Frederick saw something,
'How could I have missed that?'
When the book was handed to Frederick he could see for just a moment the hand of the merchant. NO it wasn't a hand, you couldn't even call it that. It was more like a scaled claw. That quickly retracted when it released the book.

Frederick got angry again, but this time at himself. He couldn't believe he didn't even noticed it. He was cursing some words but then the got suddenly silent. With his eyes wide open and his mouth hung a little bit open.
'Weiss....if this merchant had some connection with the man my father talked to. And if that man killed my Cecilia with that disease. Then wouldn't this mean, that this moment was also part of the plan.
No that can't be, I walk my own path right. But..'

Frederick started to mumble at himself trying to lay all the facts in front of him. And he saw that there wasn't a way around it. The path that he currently walked on was made for him.
"Was it all for nothing, Is my cause for naught and nothing more then a lie...'
He then looked at Weiss again with eyes filled with unbelief. Hoping that he could provide an answer.
But then Frederick recalled something that Weiss had said earlier on. He already gave Frederick an answer that he probably needed.

'Weiss.. You have given me an answer all along haven't you?'
Frederick's voice was once again firm and strong, not the soft weak voice of unbelief anymore.
'The path a man walks is a decision only he can make. You said that earlier... and then the Dreamscape showed me that with the merchant. As if my path wasn't my own, but that isn't true isn't it. Even though I was send in that direction by someone.. maybe something even. It still doesn't mean I didn't choose it myself.
When I stood at the crossroads of light and darkness, I choose darkness. That was my own decision, my choice alone. Regardless of who laid that path out for me. But if I made that decision myself then I haven't lived up to it. I started to serve the Lichborne and bound me to his darkness. Losing track of what I truly wanted. But not anymore.. I will abide by my own darkness from now on.

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Rosetta Crawford 20th July 2013, 4:19 am

Weiss smiled broadly for the first time. Frederik had understood his points, which he had tried to make subtly and now he was almost free to go. He had made a decision to walk his own path of darkness and not serve under others. He would walk his path for his own purpose. It may at some point have the need to work under others or with others, but it would be his path. "A man knows the path he walks and knows he is close to freedom, no?" Weiss said and then his smile faded as the scenery too faded around him. "A man must know that if one person escaped through battle then so must he, no?"

A white platform formed beneath their feet and Weiss stood on it. He looked at Frederik for a moment and then stepped backwards. As he did a spectral figure was left behind which slowly formed itself into an exact replica of Frederik, though without his cloak. Other than that he was the same in all, but one aspect. "A man knows this is no clone, yes? A man knows of the parallel dimension theory, no?" Weiss said and then explained a bit more. "The Dreamscape does not exist in one dimension, but all of them. It is a space between worlds sometimes called the Howling. The man who stands before you Frederik..." and this was addressed to both of them. "...is a man who made a different decision at the bookshop. One of you chose the path of darkness, the other the path of light. Freedom from this world...can only be acheived by the survivor."

    ------------------------------
Basically you are battling yourself. He will have identical magic to you, but rather than being darkness based his will be light based and he will not have a devouring spell. His fighting style will be less destructive and brutal as yours for he has chosen the path of light.

You will be playing both parts and I will not post again until the battle ends. The battle must take at least 3000 words and can be divided into as many posts as you see fit. Feel free to have conversations to develop plot as you proceed.

Frederick's A rank exam Empty Re: Frederick's A rank exam

Post by Godlike Frederik 21st July 2013, 1:03 pm

His last trail before he could escape the Dreamscape world, and it was something he did not expected. He though he would continue on with the fragments of his past but not to fight a mirror version of himself. Someone who took the different route in live.
The other Frederick was a dressed in white, a white waistcoat with golden edges, and beige blouse with white pants. The only thing he didn't wear was the cloak. That basically is a trademark for the darker Frederick.

It symbolized that the light Frederick didn't hide behind the darkness, that he was out in the open. Living a life of peace. He had moved on from the pain that the dark version had tormented all this time. And to even finish it the symbol of Blue Pegasus was majorly huge knitted on the waistcoat. The very guild that Frederick had destroyed. It was truly insulting, the legal guild, the happy life. And especially the part that he had moved on from Cecilia's death.
'How could he.. the love of our life. How dares he to move on!'
It angered him, not the fact that he had achieved what he couldn't. But that he had betrayed her, for not pursuing the same things to bring her back. For the darker Frederick it felt as if the light one had abandoned her.

He was boiling of anger now, and it was to be seen. The dark black aura started to expand from his own body becoming a visible sickening mass that looked like it was attached to the man himself. Like an extension.
Then ten featureless black tentacles shot out from the black aura, towards the light version of Frederick. Twirling and moving their way to him, an almost sicking sight.
But the light Frederick reacted to that with the same spell, and showed him a grinning smile before he did so.
'Tch at least we have our arrogance in common..'

Then twenty tentacles collided with each other, one consisting our of pure darkness that was colored black. While the other tentacles were white in a sterile kind of way. They smashed in on each other, trying to twirl their ways around each other, or blocking an other tentacle. All aimed towards the other Frederick.
But it appeared that no one could get a foothold here, which wasn't that much of surprise seeing that they were similar in most ways. The same fighting styles, tactics and way of thinking made sure that they were evenly matched. That mostly mirrored their own moves from each other.
They both retracted their tentacles and let it twirl around themselves, but at that moment Frederick noticed a quick devilish smile on the light version of himself.
Something was coming, the other one had something planned.

And as quickly as the tentacles they disappeared only to be immediately followed up by an attack that Frederick knew to well. His dark void, no that wasn't correct. It was a light void, the usually black pillars of darkness that were shot down from the pentacles were now pillars of light. That were raining down on Frederick, and exploding on impact.
The several explosion made sure that he was blinded by the white light, and the only thing he could do was protect his face against it by holding his arm before his eyes. All while he was slung over the place by the impacts.
Until the bright light of the impacts faded away and revealed Frederick laying on the ground face down. His cloak ripped and scorched, he himself roughed up and hurt.

    'How can this be'
Frederick voice sounded low and was hard to hear from the position how he was laying there.
'You are the same like me, the same tactics and moves. How can it be that you are faster then me..'
The other Frederick didn't react to him at all, he just kept smiling
'But.. you are not better then me. No you are faster then me because you know what I was planning on doing. You just anticipated my own moves.. so that means all all I have to do is..'
Frederick started to crawl back up his feet while he kept talking and slowly took off his cloak only to let it drop besides him.
'come up with a new way of attacking, and beat you!'

Frederick didn't know yet what it was he was going to do, but he thought it was better to come up with it on the spot then calculating a move before hand. With the enemy he was facing calculating was out of the question because that was exactly what the other Frederick would do too. So he started to run, and that was something the other one didn't expected, and what he never could. Frederick had realized the biggest flaw of having come to terms with Cecilia's death. There was no need to change, no room to use new methods to get to your goals. Something what Frederick himself did had, he was always changing for his goal to bring her back. New methods, new magic. it was always changing, where he lived, how he lived. From the comfort of a guild and an own office to a simple little sleeping bag in the sand of a dessert. Frederick had learned to change, and that was all because he had lost someone and never truly accepted her loss. Not unlike the light version of Frederick, who had walked a different path. Whom had found redemption and joined a legal guild. For him there was no need to change he had never chased after her. Probably never even thought that there was a way to bring her back.
'We will see if this will work...'

He was still running at the light version of himself, who know looked surprised. Not like he was caught off guard but trying to figure out what his other half was planning to do. But that would be his downfall, because Frederick didn't really had a plan. He was going straight for impulse.
Frederick ran and readied his hand and made a straight swipe with it right under his own feet and jumped immediately after that.
    Corrupted Explosion!!!'
A multitude of explosion occurred right under Frederick's feet while he was already in the air, but with the extra kick of the explosion he was launched straight over the light version of himself. And in that moment he called for his whips which he lashed out on him. Grabbing the light version with himself, and pulling him back with such an excessive force that he was slung all the way beneath Frederick's only to be slammed in to the ground several meters away.

'It worked!! He..I can't really handle this'
This light Frederick really couldn't calculate and predict his enemies move. He was still thinking that the dark version of himself was nothing more then a mere mirror in attacking. And there was it where he was wrong.
    'It's not over yet!'
Frederick swung his left whip at his nemesis again and this time it wrapped around the man's throat and pulled him back up so that he was sitting on his knees. Trying to loosen the grip of the whip by trying to pull it from his throat, which was useless.
Then Frederick remembered that this was probably not the best move to use on his alter ego.
There was a move that was highly effective against users who would pull this kind of attacks. And the moment he was realizing that a wall build up from pentacles had appeared behind Frederick. Generating pillars of white light that shot towards him. As quickly as he could he tried to move away, but without luck. One of the beams hit him.
He let out a small grunting roar because of the pain, luckily it was only one shot that hit him. But it felt as if it did more damage then it should be. Probably because he was hit with the full force from the previous attack.

'You rotten excuse for a mage, you are nothing more then a blight for the human existence. Something that shouldn't be alive!'
The other Frederick finally decided to speak up. And as suspected he wasn't to happy anymore.  Besides the damage he had caught there was something that hurt even more, and that was the man's pride. The very same arrogant pride that Frederick himself had as well. But by fallen into darkness he a to learn to pride and arrogance didn't really matter anymore. Not in what he was to achieve.
'Tch, look who is talking. Calling me an excuse while you abandoned Cecilia. You gave up on the very idea that you could find her again. And to make it even worse you joined the very guild that is filled with sentimental mages. All glueing together to share their feeling with each other. It's despicable.
'Despicable do you say, you are nothing more then just jealous that I have moved on from the painful loss that we have endured.'
'No.. I haven't. But that isn't what is annoying me the most. I can deal with jealousy but the fact that I can't deal with is that someone who is exactly like me is just doing nothing with power he has. Just sitting there stalemate, not trying the reach for the greatness that he could be destined to be. Be it for the good of the world... or plunge it into darkness.'

Frederick found a small dismay on the other Frederick's face. He knew he had hit the spot of annoyance on the other one, because they were the same he could know what would truly bother him. For Frederick was that the remembrance of Cecilia's death and on the second place was that he couldn't truly live up to his own potential. So for the other Frederick it should be just the other way around. With moving own from her death means that the most bothering thing for him was that he couldn't reach what he wanted. He had no goal, he was a sailing boat on a lake without winds. He didn't move forwards.
    'You.. you..how..'
'Because we are exactly the same, you and I. The things we chase and lifestyles are different but how we are is exactly the same. I know exactly who you are, like you are probably the last person in the guild that others want to go on jobs with. Probably because you are always bitter by not knowing what to do next. Nobody listens to you and even though you have friends in the guild you still feel alone.
Not like me, no I have reached a position in my guild where I am alone. But also people listen to me. And sure I have acquaintances who I probably could call friends I am still a loner. And I like it that way, because of what I want in life requires me too. And that my alter ego is your biggest flaw, you can't handle to loneliness!'

'Shut up!! You worm! Exalted Explosion!!!'

The other Frederick swiped his arm towards Frederick creating a multitude explosion in the same linear direction from the swipe. But it was poorly aimed, the other Frederick's anger made sure that the explosions were nothing more then a scare tactic. Giving Frederick only to deal with the force that came off from the impact. But he stood firm, not moving an inch while his hair and clothes fluttered because of the power and wind that came off.
    'So let's finish this...Frederick'
This was the feeling he liked the most, that he had the upper hand in this battle. All this time he felt he didn't know what to do, every image that Weiss showed triggered anger, sadness and unbelief in him. But know that he has recovered that one certain feeling. The feeling where he could see the ending of a certain event coming was nothing but pure bliss for him.
He had killed, pillaged, leveled towns and even attacked guilds in some occasions but nothing was more rewarding then that feeling when something big and personal was happening where he saw all the paths ending in his victory.

Once again he ran towards the other version of himself, ready to engage him head on. Lashing out at him with the whips that were still hanging as extension at his arms sides. The other Frederick couldn't react fast enough and was hit a few times before he reacted, calling out his own whips that were white instead of black. Now it became a head on battle, Frederick versus Frederick. Lashing out at each other, wrapping the whips around body parts trying to swing the other one away or slamming them in the ground. Frederick didn't know for how long this clash went one. It could be a few minutes or it could be half an hour. He didn't know but he did know how that he should end this battle soon. He was getting tired, his own fatigue was dropping rapidly. But he had something in mind, but it was putting himself at risk as well.

The light Frederick lashed out at him with his left whip, but at that same moment Frederick lashed out too. But not at the other version of himself. No at the other whip, strangling the two different colors together. But he used the force of the two colliding whips the swing the other Frederick all the way around above himself only the land right behind him.
The light Frederick came down with a huge smack and a cracking sounds of the white floor. Frederick himself reacted immediately he didn't had time to fall back and move to a safe distance he had to do this know. He had to deal a fatal blow to his mirror self.
    'DARK OBLITERATION!!'

A multitude of thirty black pentacles appeared all around them, forming an inescapable dome. Where from every side pillars of black light were beamed towards the center. Exactly where the two Frederick's were standing. Well one was still standing the other one tried to crawl back up. But that all didn't matter, it all happened in a flash, the black beams that hit them. The explosions from the impact. And then the moment Frederick woke up several meters away from the impact zone. Heavily panting and grasping for air, he crawled back up but when he finally stood back on his feet he noticed that he was damaged severely. His left shoulder had a gaping hole in it, from which he was heavily bleeding. Also his right side was heavily damaged. It didn't had a piece missing but a beam had grazed him there good enough for him to leave a open wound there. He was bruised and cut all over.
    He was a pure mess.
The he looked over at the other one, who was laying there also heavily wounded. But still he was intact. Also breathing heavy.
'I am a tough piece to handle hmm..'

He scurried over there, slowly but steady. There was one thing he still had to do to his other half. His other signature move, something that he was curious about what the other one had for that.
He dropped down to his knees next to the other Frederick. And laid his hand on his chest, while two eyes looked filled with anger at him.
'I..know.. what you are going to do... it's the exact opposite from me...you are going to take instead of giving life aren't you.'
'Yes.. Frederick I am...tch, so you give life force instead of taking it away. I could have known, it almost seems fitting to us doesn't..it. To give instead of taking away.
    'It.. does doesn't it.'
'It's over now..I would say it was an honor... but we both know that isn't true.'
'Ha...haha.. at least I will see her again'
'Yes, you will. Farewell.. Lord Frederick.'
Then he started it, the soul absorption. The very move that made Frederick the very person he is now. After Cecilia's death that was the first personal step to the road of darkness. But that is for another time to tell. For now it is the spell that made an end to the other Frederick.

He drained his life force away, till the last drop. And with it the light version of Frederick breathed for the last and final time. Falling away into the eternal slumber called death with a relieving sigh.
Frederick stood back up, he filled refreshed not much just barely enough to walk around a little more. His wounds were still there, nothing he could do about that. But he had won and that was all that matters. There was just one more thing he needed to no before he wanted to leave this place.
He walked over to Weiss, and looked at him with companionable eyes. He had taking a liking to this man, he who knew his pain. And who was stuck in here for some sort of reason.
'Weiss.. thank you for everything. I don't thank much, at least not sincere as this. But before I go... there is a thing I want to know. Not why you are stuck here or what for a reason that might be. But is there any way possible for me to get you out of here. To bring you back to the real realm. And not live here as a mere phantom of your former self, here in the dreamscape?
If so... please tell me. Then I will do everything in my power to do so. I will use my guild, at least what remains from it to make sure you will breath real air again'

Weiss paused. He had watched the battle with interest for it was a rare battle to see someone fight themselves. It was more a battle of will then a battle of strength. The dark Frederik seemed to have more of that than the light. An interesting concept. Good did not always triumph over Evil. Weiss said nothing at Frederick's question, but instead walked up to him and placed a hand over the man's heart. "Only the defeat of the Dreamer can release me and he is too much for any one guild." There was emphasis on the word one, but there was little emotion. A flare of power surged through Frederik and his eyes opened. He was in his bed. He had not moved at all.

Was it a dream? Of course it was a dream, but Frederik would know by the feeling of power surging through him that it was also very real. Who ever said a dream could not be real?

His bed felt strange, like he never truly rested in it. The he quickly jumped up, feeling the places were he was supposed to be hurt. But he couldn't find anything. Luckily.
But the dreamscape it felt just all to real to him. It was a revelation for his power and him personally. He didn't know what he was going to achieve after this, but he was sure it would be massive at some point.
The Weiss last words echoed through his head once again.
"Only the defeat of the Dreamer can release me and he is too much for any one guild."

Frederick was saddened, for some reason he saw Weiss as a friend. Something he rarely did. The cryptic words were also mysterious.
'Any one guild... what did he meant with that'
He walked over to his cabinet and pulled on some clothes and swung his cloak over his shoulders.
As last he pulled the hood over his head, concealing most of his face. Only leaving out a small part of the chin and barely the mouth. He took the scroll he was studying for some time now and headed to the door.
He had to visit someone, a former collegeau. Someone who had also entered the dreamscape world.
She was maybe able to provide him with some answers, and there was also her pet that knew something about himself as well.
And with that he walked out of his office, ready for the next part in his life.
