Post by Mai Stormschild 26th October 2019, 6:36 pm

In a strange twist of fate, Mai had been sent out by the guild specifically to take care of a mission in Hargeon Town, as she was to meet her companion for the mission at Hargeon Town. This was, admittedly, a bit confusing to the Slayer. Generally, if she were to go out on a job with someone else, it would be with Luna, or at least someone in Sabertooth, but instead she was to be meeting up with a complete stranger for taking down this mission. She remembered Luna saying that this would be a task that Mai could easily deal with, even with her Slayer style not being designed to kill demons. Luna had her own jobs to take care of before the S-Rank quest the two would go on, and so it made sense for Mai to do much the same.

The train ride to Hargeon was largely uneventful, save for a few strangers wondering if Mai was a lost child. This was a common occurrence, but each one of them was assured of Mai's status at the reveal of her guild tattoo. The initial arrival in the town was much the same, with little fanfare to her arrival. She was informed to meet her teammate in a nearby inn, and that she would get the debriefing on the mission from the client first due to her being the higher-ranked wizard between herself and her companion. She presumed this meant that she arrived into town before the companion would, but, as Luna was all to happy to remind her, she was still to focus on the job first as opposed to viewing the sights of Hargeon. Sighing as she bounced a few times on her heels, she skipped along to the inn in order to meet the client.

Upon entering the inn, she was immediately bombarded by a bombastic voice of an eccentric man whose hairstyle strangely reminded her of Papa's. "About time you arrived, Stormschild! You're two minute and fourteen seconds late! This sort of carelessness will get you killed if you have to deal with demons or other beasts!"

His mild-mannered cohort sighed, placing a hand on the man's shoulder. "Yes, yes, father, it's certainly a shame that she was late, but she's here now!"

"And to think that Sabertooth sent a little girl like this! I don't doubt her power, that much is to be certain, they were quite insistent on her deceptive appearance, but to think that they would slight me by sending a small child like this! The nerve of those-"

"You can trust me to take those demons out." Despite her calm speaking, she was certainly irate at the man's outbursts. "Miss Luna said you would tell me about this job before my teammate gets here, so what do I need to know?"

The client was visibly angry, but he sighed after a moment and obliged. These demons had possessed him and caused him to launch a valuable family heirloom onto the beach, where it was promptly stolen by the demons. The local police was not confident enough to explore the area, and the Rune Knights were "much too expensive and inquisitive as to the manners of my work!" as the man emphatically said. He warned that these demons would not be an easy task to deal with by any means, but having a wizard like Mai on the case would be a relief, as he said. With that, he emphatically ended the debriefing before storming off to his house in a huff.

"I do apologize for my father. He's a bit...eccentric, I guess you could say. I can assure you that you'll get your payment for this task, as well as our gratitude. While you wait for your companion to arrive, feel free to help yourself to anything the restaurant has to offer. Our family owns this inn, so we told the staff to to give you anything you need."

The daughter smiled before following off after her father. Mai took a seat in one of the booths in the lobby as a waiter came by, offering her an ice cream snack and a pouch of juice as she waited for her job companion's arrival.

Post by Rhyolo 26th October 2019, 7:48 pm

Rhyolo had woken up in his hotel room when the the sun's light assaulted his eyes when they had first opened for the day. The young man sat up straight in his bed rubbing the crusts out of his eyes, his non-existent pupils would would dilate and contract to adjust to the sun's ray's shining bright upon him. Once his pupils had gotten used to the sudden light change he hen took in his surroundings and began to look around the hotel room. He saw a nice little wooden table next to his bed. on the table was a vase with a single flower inside. The flower was a black and red rose, a mutant flower that didn't seem like it belonged in this world, reminding him much of himself. He then looked toward the tiled bathroom door where he saw his clothes thrown on the floor next to the doorway. He then looked at the source of the light. The fire mage looked at the open window and saw that the purple curtains were flapping in the wind. Rhyolo then got up out of his bed and sleepily walked over to the window, using his arms and lowering it using his grip, closing off the outside world from his enclosed space. He then stretched his aching back by pushing it forward with both of his hands. Once his back was stretched with a few satisfactory pops, Rhyolo then let out a relieved sigh.
He then thought aloud, "Why does my back hurt when I'm only 18, or am 19? This doesn't make any sense to me any more. Either way it's life, a mess of confusion and emotions no one can seem to control no matter what they try." Rhyolo then walks into the bathroom and proceeds to runs some hot water for a shower. As he waits for the water to warm up to a steaming point he goes ahead and puts the old dirty clothes in his bag after setting out the extra pair he had brought for himself. once the water was warm enough for him, Rhyolo bathed himself and then proceeded to dry himself off after turning off the water in the shower.  Rhyolo then put on his clothes. Instead of his usual Red hoodie and shorts, Rhyolo had put on a white sleeveless shirt with a red lined collar vest on top, the vest also coming with a hood.  He also wore long white pants, looking rather poofy and swaying. Rhyolo then put on his usual leather boots, tying them in a formal knot. "For god's sake, why do we have to wear white all the damn time?" The revived soul then sat on the bed and crossed his arms with a sigh. He then began wondering what to do, or trying to remember what he needed to do. The young mage then remembered what he came here to do, he was here on a job and he was supposed to meet his partner later on at an inn somewhere in town.
The new member of Onyx Moon then stood up and straightened out his pristine white clothes before slinging his bag over his shoulder and leaving his hotel room, making sure the door was closed behind him. He would then walk through the halls and lobby of the hotel, heading out into the outside world. He would begin to walk the streets of Hargeon town, following his mental directions of where the inn he was supposed to met his senior partner. As he strolled, he would begin to think of what his partner would be like. They were a class B mage, so that meant they were stronger than him, or more experienced, or both. As he began to think more and more about the strength of his partner, it would begin to remind him of how he had been killed. There was a small chance that this job he had taken could lead him to be partnered with his murderer. There was also a chance he could find out how he was revived, by person or by some other force that be. He would then force those thoughts aside as he would come to the inn's entrance.
Rhyolo would take a deep breath before entering the inn, opening the door to the establishment. He would look around the place, seeming rather lost as he had no idea who his companion for this mission was. He would run his hand through his red hair instinctively, his forearm being shown to having a red West Fiore Trading Company guild mark. I am sure this is the right place. Where could they be? He would begin looking over the booths as he tried guessing who his partner could be, his eyes almost immediately skipping over Mai, not knowing she was who he was looking for.

Post by Mai Stormschild 26th October 2019, 8:30 pm

The man that burst through the door was certain huge, with his height towering over Mai, though she suspected he towered over many-a person. Mai thought little of the man until she saw the tattoo resting on his forearm. She could not remember what the guild's name was that bore that mark, but she was sure that it was the correct one she was to be looking for. Luna had drilled it into her head that she was to memorize that marking and the guild associated with it, as that would be the tattoo for the guild her companion would be a part of. She had also told him a name, but she could not remember what it was. Nonetheless, she was sure this would be her companion. As much as she wanted to ease the man's likely discomfort from her stature and age, the mischievous side of her was looking forward to seeing the look on his face.

Finishing off the last of her ice cream and juice, she leaped down from her chair to approach the perceived giant. Taking in a deep breath, she spoke up to the man. "Are you the other person I was told to meet here? I wasn't really told who to look for...okay, I was, but I wasn't really paying attention. I just remember seeing that guild mark from Miss Luna and I think I might've been shown a picture of you or something. Anyways, I'm Mai Stormschild! I hope you're actually the person I'm supposed to be looking for, or Miss Luna's gonna get really mad at me for not paying attention, or mad at you for not being who I'm looking for or something like that." She offered a tiny hand for a handshake, should he accept it. "Anyways, I met with the client, so here's what we all know." She explained it in the best way that she could given her lackluster attention span. "So yeah! There's apparently a door somewhere on the beach, and that leads to a den with some demons in it or something like that he kinda trailed off there at that point or he might've just been making things up or something like that, I wasn't paying too much attention. I really dunno how powerful they'll be down there, but that's fine! Miss Luna said that I'm a 'God Slayer' or something like that instead of a 'Demon Slayer' but either one works, still should be able to beat them up real nice and good, especially if they use lightning or water or wind magic because all that stuff's real tasty! Oooh, what about you? What kinda magic do you use? Do you punch bad guys, too? It's really fun to punch baddies!"

She giggled. "So I guess whenever we're ready to go and beat up those baddies and get back the weird man's family...thing. I don't really know exactly what we're looking for, but if we just beat up all the baddies in the area, we'll be fine, right? And that's what I do really good! Miss Luna wants me to think about dealing with problems in different ways other than punching them in the face, but that's boring, and if I can punch big baddie bad guys, I'm definitely going to!" She giggled once more, taking close look at the expression across her companion's face. She was far from certain if her surprising appearance would cause as much shock to him as it would to non-magic users. "Oh, right! I know you're part of a wizard guild 'cuz I saw your guild tattoo, so I should probably show you mine!" She twirled around, giving a quiet "Ta-Dah!" sound as she presented the tattoo on her shoulder. "There! Now you know I'm part of a guild! I'm part of Sabertooth! I dunno if they told you what guild I would be a part of. I'm pretty sure they told me you would be a part of..." she mumbled, trying to bluff her way through the lack of knowledge she had. "...so I recognized your guild tattoo! Anyways, whenever you're good to go, we can go and find that weird door thing that the weird old man told us to look for."

She skipped outside the inn, her cares completely gone. Despite the limitations being a youthful Slayer had, Mai enjoyed being young. Aside from the potential that others would always ramble on about, she always was able to use her cuteness and stature to fool others into believing she was not a threat. Papa always taught that to her. "They'll let you in close 'cuz you're cute, and then you can punch 'em right in the face!" Mai chuckled to herself aloud, remembering Papa's words. As tall as this man was, he was nowhere near the height and stature of Papa, so Mai would not be afraid. The cares in her mind were completely gone as she made her way to the beach to do this mysterious job with this mysterious stranger.

Post by Rhyolo 5th November 2019, 10:54 am

Rhyolo would have continued to search around the room, his eyes continuing to scan the room for anybody who looked like a mage. As the hell spawn's eye continued to wander, they soon then began to focus on a person coming toward him. A little girl? Please do not tell me what I am thinking. His fear was confirmed as the girl began to speak. He would listen to her as her she began to speak. He would then begin to scream internally. Why the hell are all these little kids stronger than me! Ruvel is a damn Wizard saint and my boss!? I swear I am going to start training my ass off once I get the chance! After composing himself, he would take a deep breath as he kept his rage inside of his head, not showing any of the emotion he had thought. He would then begin to note everything she said and nor doubt it at all, after all, the leader of his own guild was a child himself. He was pretty sure she had expected him to be shocked, however his face did not show any sign of it. Instead, it was one more of annoyance of the all but too familiar scenario he was in once again. He would take her hand as she extended it to him. He would shake it as he nodded. "Yes, I am the mage you were supposed to meet here. My name is Rhyolo Ruby. I am of the West Fiore Trading Company."
As she began to ramble on about the job, giving her own abridged version. From what he could tell is that there was a door on the beach that led to some sort of demon stronghold. Maybe this is some sort of gate to the underworld. I would much rather not go near it but a job is a job, an I already am here and I can not back out now. I would tarnish the name of the guild and ruin what iI worked so hard on. Plus i have numerous reapers in the guild willing to send me back to the under world. He would then listen on as she would begin to give him a simple explanation if what kind of magic she had. He would be happy to hear she was a god slayer as it would reinforce their strengths in unholy magic, as well as cover his weaknesses in attack spells and elemental diversity. If any demons used her elements or they were weak to her elements, that would make their job much easier. As she would ask him about his own magic he would only look at his hands he would begin to think. He really only knew what his magic was capable of, not really any history or the name of it really. He would would then look up after a moment and look to her as her would not know what to say. But before he can even respond to express his ignorance of his own magic, she would have gone on and moved along about her deduction of him being a wizard in her own child-like way.
Soon enough, the hell escapee would have been chasing her out of the door. She had just suddenly started to go out of the inn's door as he would follow her trying to keep up with her youthful energy. He would smirk a bit as he would chuckle in his mind. She reminds me a bit of myself when I was her age. That seems like so long ago.

Rolling a few enemies. Job calls for 10x dice rolls, but it's in the old format, so we're gonna bring it down to four. As a note: Boss rolls are 2x strong, and here they are so it's easy on me so I don't have 100 tabs open

    Weak: Demon
A very large creature, standing 30 feet with 10 foot wide shoulders. Its arms are as thick as tree trunks, and its claws are a foot long. It doesn't seem particularly intelligent, but it does known how to swing its arms with a high degree of accuracy. It has moderate (20mph) speed, and isn't too keen on blocking attacks. Countering all its negatives, this guy is extremely durable...

    Normal: Demon
This one's only fifteen feet tall with four foot wide shoulders. They're faster than the other one, better at fighting too. This type dodges your attacks and blocks, unlike the larger version, and will even display a degree of unholy/corruption magic that's non-elemental. This magic can be consumed by God Slayers (all types). This creature is twice as fast as the larger version, and has just a bit more durability than it does. This creature will use its claws, and a strange type of jagged bladed weapon...

    Strong: Demon
This one is a bit smaller at 10 feet tall... It won't attack you initially, and while fighting it none of the others will attack you. You'll be constantly hearing whispers in your head, hundreds upon thousands of them all trying to pull you into insanity... While fighting, this creature has more speed than the "Normal" demon (60mph) and twice the durability. It can use a variety of magic, but nothing too advanced. The weapons this one uses are its claws and a sharp sword that it seems to be adept at using...

Post by Mai Stormschild 5th November 2019, 11:47 am

Finding her way to the door that the eccentric client had mentioned, Mai slowly opened the door, humming to herself as she made sure her lesser-ranked partner was beside her. Almost as soon she opened the door, a tall demon stood, towering over Mai, let alone her partner. Mai waited a beat, before quickly shrieking and firing off a Tempest God's Bellow right into the face of the demon. It roared in pain, grasping at its eyes. Mai sprinted between its legs, firing up her Galeforce Boots to sprint up to the top of the demon's head. She wrapped her fists in Tempest Element, punching the beast in the face and firing herself higher in the air before unleashing her element into a Tempest God's Spire, engulfing the beast as it crashed down to a knee. Mai landed gracefully on her feet as she slowly walked up to the demon's face, looking into its eyes. "You guys look like meanies, so..." After saying that, she wrapped her arms in water, striking forwards as the demon crumbled, defeated. Mai turned to her partner. Despite the fact that he did not seem shocked by her youth and being a wizard, she had hoped that her display of power would be able to at least serve some purpose in impressing him.

"Sorry, he kinda scared me, so I decided to beat him up without letting you get involved. If we see any more of the meanies, I'll let you get a chance to beat them up!" She grinned, doing her best to act smug. "It wouldn't be fair to have the better partner get all the combat experience." She smiled, turning on her heels to enter further into the den. It was strangely beautiful, this weird cave. It had a strange feeling to it, like it was part of another world. There were mysterious, purple-ish lights, which Mai naturally tried to eat, getting nothing more than a slightly bitter taste. She whined about it for a moment, before continuing to wander further down the cave. Outside of the demon at the entrance, there was little opposition until the duo reached the source of the stream, where what appeared to be a small village was. In there were five other demons, one looking larger than the others. She turned to her partner. "I kinda feel bad about stealing that first battle from you, so I'll let you decide how we move in to fight the rest of these baddies."

Post by Rhyolo 4th February 2020, 5:57 am

Rhyolo would have walked around with the younger child as they embarked on their journey to find the door their, rather eccentric client would have told them, or rather Mai, about. as they approached the door, Rhyolo would feel his magic getting a bit stronger, something told him on the other side was supernatural or demonic. Almost as soon as they got through the doorway, they would be greeted by a rather large demon. He would take a moment and look up to it before he would think of taking a move. Before he would even bend his knees to make a move he would have watched the smaller mage fire off some sort of elemental breath attack at the large demon.Rhyolo was about to dive straight in and perhaps do something wreckless, but decided he should watch her as he stood back up and crossed his arms. He would study he movements as she would run up and attack the monstrous being fr the under world. He would see her run up to it's face before punching it using magic loaded fist. Hmm, she is quick, and seems to have a good head on he shoulders too, she shows a bit of an ability to think as well as raw power. Note to self, don't fight this kid. Rhyolo would continue to stare on and analyze her as she would then send aagic attack down upon her enemy. The blast seemed overwhelming as the demon fell, but still was not done, it somehow still had some life left in it as it looked as if it trying to get up, wasting it's energy in a futile attempt. Soon Mai would land in front of it as she walked up slowly to it. He would listen to what she said before she would completely erradicate the being as she then turned to him, smiling all innocent like. He would listen to her smug comments about her being higher rank than him and about it not being fair if she got all the combat experience. He would looked down to her as he shrugged and followed her deeper into the cavern. As he saw her try to eat a couple of the glowing purple crystals along the walls of the cave., he would chuckle a bit to himself. He would feel his power getting stronger as they would near the village as he looked at it. As Mai spoke to him he would get slightly annoyed as it seemed she was talking down to him. He then listens as she says that the plan of attack was his to make. He would then smirk a bit as he cracked his fists
"From what I have seen, you earned your rank and have the power to match it
So the plan is what happened before, except I'm right behind you with support and attacks. Given how proficient I am at this new magic, making me the source of attacking and dealing damage would be a poor decision.
