It took him some time to arrive at the edge of the Mysterious Canyons, where a few villages had made it their home to stay at. It was difficult to wrap his head around why people would decide to build a settlement here, but he doubted he would understand it all even if they told him. As he jumped down from the back of the caravan, Shane did a few stretches and cracked some stiff joints with multiple pops. The final one, releasing the strain on his neck, gave him a satisfied smile. He gave three slaps to the side of the caravan, causing three loud smacks on the wooden carriage before putting up a thumbs-up. The driver of the caravan replied with the same gesture and began moving again, on his way to another village just south of the one he had arrived at.

At first glance, the village was small and rather backwards, but then Shane realized that it wasn’t bad as he thought. Upon further inspection, the houses near the entrance of the village, rather downtrodden and dilapidated, was actually a farce. They had done it on purpose to trick any marauders or raiders who would prey on their village. Shane was trying to peek in when he heard multiple footfalls coming his way. He turned around just in time to see a hardy and tough man in his fifties, betrayed only by his greying hair, lead a group of four other men that bore the same tough disposition.

“Mister Stern?” the man in the lead queried as he neared, a questioning glint in his eyes. Shane raised an eyebrow and then nodded.

“Yup, Shane Stern. Rune Knight,” the silver-haired man said as he pulled out a chain from around his neck, showing his identity badge. It was his easiest way of identifying himself, as he was always dressed casually. He was sporting a grey long sleeved T-shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, a pair of black-on-grey camouflage patterned cargo pants and a pair of black boots. Huntsman, his red and black large caliber pistol, sat in a holster strapped to his right leg while the other one of the pair, Knight was in a similar holster on his left leg. He looked like the typical mercenary or adventurer, which was why the group of men hesitated slightly when they heard his answer, trying to discern if he was speaking the truth.

“I’m Arthur, village head of Mirros. We are the ones who had put up the job request,” the man before further introducing the other four men, identifying them as the village heads of the neighboring villages. Shane stepped forward and shook all of their hands respectively, before stepping back to where he was originally.

“I would appreciate a sit rep but let’s do it when my partner has arrived. She should be here soon,” Shane replied. The partner in question was Sara Ravencrest, a reliable ally that he had found in their previous job taking down an extremely powerful guild called the Syndicate. The two of them had cooperated well together. Sara had mentioned that it would have been a better opportunity to explore how well they could work together if they were to face the same foe, instead of fighting their own battles as they had done in their previous job.

Shane had agreed with that opinion, which was the reason for him extending an invitation to her to join him on this job. From the job description, it had been implied that they would find themselves facing off against a monster that has been dormant for years. Personally, it was a great test for Shane as well, to see how far he could go if he went all out. The Rune Knights are bound to face even bigger threats than the previous invasion, and he was sure as hell going to get himself stronger before that happened.

Sara shadowed her eyes or in her case, eye as the other was covered in an eye patch from the sun that shined brightly, with little to no clouds to hide the sun it was quite hot today. Stretching, the petite girl groaned from the slight soreness that her body had from all the rides she took. She had first taken a train from Clover to Magnolia, which was quite comfortable, but then she had to take a carriage to the Canyon that her current job was, and that was what made her body sore. It wasn't the carriage's fault, as the road here wasn't one of the best of current time. She had reseaved the job offer from Shane, the Rune Knight that she worked with to take down a dark guild that went by the name of Syndicate and had occupied a resort town and they worked together too free it. He had even extended an invite to her to join the Rune Knights, but she had to decline, as she was already part of a guild albeit not an official one as it was mainly a trading company. Not that she had a problem with it, it felt like she had more freedom that way, even though being part of a company had its own personal jobs that rested on the member's shoulders.

The red-golden haired girl was wearing something quite unusual for what she usually wore at a job, it wasn't her company cloathing as she didn't want to get it dirty being in light colors, and for some reason she didn't feel like going out with her usual job outfit, something more casual was what she was wanting for this time, leaving her hair unruly with a pair of black shorts, and desert camouflage hiking boots. She streached again and moved towards where the supposed village was located that had sent the request. That same request was currently in her hand as she moved along the road. The village chief Mirros had talked with the other elders to send out a request after a group of dark mages had started kidnapping the locals. Sara folded the request and put it back in one of her jacket's pockets.. She was soon going to be near the village's location so she wanted to take some time to take in the scenery as this was her first time traveling to the Canyon. There wasn't that much that she could look at, mostly being some stone formations, it probably had its own spots of beauty, and most likely she wouldn't get to explore them, the job took priority currently, if she had time and she wasn't exhausted she could get a chance too look through the caverns and whatever else this place may be hiding.

It was long before Sara finally reached the village that was her current location, her lone green eye darted through the figures as most of them were turned with their back towards her. Sara's eye stopped at a mop of white hair that stood out of the crowd of bulky men. With a small smile she started walking at a higher pace, she would have been almost unheard if it wasn't for the small rocks that were everywhere on the ground. "If I didn't know you in the slightest I would have said that you started without me." She said with a smile as she made her way between Arthur's men that gave her rather surprised looks, and stood in front of Shane and raised her left hand to high five the Knight. "Its good to see you again Shane, I hope you have been doing well." She said before she moved next to him and looked at the men that still had their eyes on her. "Sara Ravencrest, West Fiore Trading Company, at your service." She said as her eye moved through each man, their looks of surpise gone.

"Arthur Fish, head of Mirror, Its surprising for a Trading Company to send out a mage to do this  kind of request." He said and waited for the petite mage to give him an answer.

"We take merc like jobs from time to time, we are mages at the end of the day, even when we work for the company." She said clearing up the question Arthur had to which he nodded.

"Lets go to the village, I'll fill you in on the way." Arthur said and with his men they began to guide the two mages. Sara following in suit but staying close to Shane, if something happens.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Arthur was surprised when Shane smirked, thinking the Rune Knight was messing with him but then he realized that Shane wasn’t even looking in his direction. The silver-haired Knight had heard the crunching of feet on the small stones that littered the ground from behind the group of village heads. A tiny adjustment of his head allowed him to peek through a gap between their heads, watching as the pink-haired petit mage made her way into the group from behind them. Arthur and the rest of the group turned around to watch the female mage wind her way between them into the middle of the group, a look of surprise on their face. Shane could see where their surprise was coming from, and his smirk grew wider, knowing that the village heads would be flabbergasted later on when they saw what Sara was capable of.

“Good to see you too, Sara. Been well I hope?” the Rune Knight replied with an equally casual manner. Chuckling, he added, “I wouldn’t dare start without you.”

Sara then promptly introduced herself to the Arthur and the rest, and when they were done, Arthur led them into the village. Every once in a while, Shane would catch one of the village heads turning back to look at Shane the mercenary-like Rune Knight and Sara the small female mage, skeptical of their abilities and their chances of pulling the job off successfully. Of course, being a non-confrontational person, Shane decided to ignore the looks and acted as if he was none the wiser, merely nodding and smiling when they caught him looking back.

When they were finally in Arthur’s office, with Arthur sitting at the head of a rectangular table that could only house six chairs, he began to explain the entire situation. Shane and Sara had chosen to sit to one side of the table while the other was occupied by two of the other four village chiefs, the two oldest in the group while the younger two stood behind them. The sixth seat on the shorter side of the table, opposite Arthur remained empty.

“We have had a series of disappearance from our villages. From my village alone, there has already been three cases, while as a total from the five villages, we have as many as fifteen missing. All of them are females, ranging between sixteen to thirty,” Arthur said as he opened up a folder on the table, spilling out the contents for all to see. On each sheet of paper was a photo of the missing girl and their respective information. Shane scooped them up and browsed through them, passing those that he had already seen to Sara to see if she could find anything he could have missed.

“Was there anything that happened before the disappearances? Any suspicious groups or activities?” Shane queried, while keeping his eyes on the papers in front of him, skimming through them as quickly as he could.

“There was a group of nomads that appeared about two weeks before the disappearances. We have sent some of our scouts to try and see if they were related, and after further investigation, we found out that those people were mages. All of them wear long black cloaks with hoods over their heads, dark mages from Iron Corpse, a dark guild that used to hold some power around here some twenty years back. They’ve made their new settlement about twenty kilometers east of here.”

Before Arthur could continue, the older of the two village chiefs sitting opposite Shane and Sara quickly spoke up.

“We believe that they are using the girls as sacrifices to the ancient monster Kalthur!” the old man said as he slammed both palms on the table, before clenching them into fists, gritting his teeth. His eyes were closed and Shane could see in his face an expression of frustration and desperation. Shane looked to the others, who were also looking at the man with concern, before Arthur gave him the answer he sought.

“One of the girls was his granddaughter,” Arthur said, his voice a strangled whisper. Shane’s frowned for the man, and then looked at Sara.

“We should get this over with as soon as possible,” Shane remarked before standing up from the table and then leaving the room. He had all the answers he needed. Now he just needed to take action.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Post by Killua 11th June 2019, 11:10 pm

"I've been well, nothing special happened over the week and things at the company weren't hectic." She answered as she eyed the rune knight next to her, he was dressed quite differently then on their last job, this time looking like a merc instead of a soldier, but then again he did know requip so he could most likely change in an instant. Soon Arthur had began to lead them inside his village.

Ignoring the looks that the villagers gave both her and Shane. They were outsiders and with the current events according to the little bit of intel before hand that there has been kidnappings from this and the villages around, so it was normal that their escort as well as the rest of the villagers would be wary of them. It wasn't long before they had reached Arthur's office, with the other village cheif's sitting on one side, her and Shane on the opposite and Arthur himself seated on one end of the table as well.

He started to explain the situation to the two mages, bringing out a folder with pictures, that he spilled on the table for the two mages to see. Shane took picture after picture and after looking through them he passsed them to Sara for her too look at them. Each picture that she her hands one, was looked upon in full detail, incase something was in the picture but there wasn't much to make out of them exept try to remember their faces. The village chief then told them how everything started, with the appearance of the nomads to the start of the kidnappings and to the reveal to them that the nomads that had come down to the canyon were actually dark mages from Iron Corpse.

Sara didn't have much to say in the conversation as Shane had asked all the questions that needed to be answered. He had stood up and told the petite mage that they needed to get these things over with. With a nod Sara looked as Shane exited the building, she turned back towards the elders and Arthur. "Were there any kidnappinds these past days?" She asked and Arthur nodded, moving his hand on one of the spilled pictures and slid it towards the red-golden haired mage. Taking the picture she looked at the girl in the picture, she looked young with short brown hair, maybe one of the sixteen year olds. "She was kidnapped yesterday, we had tried our best to stop them, but they are too strong for us.." He said and clenched his fist in frustration. "We'll get her back don't worry." She said as she exited the building and looked for Shane.

As she saw him, she walked next to him with the picture of the girl that was recently kidnapped. "This one was the last one to be kidnapped and it happend yesterday, with some luck we may be able to save the poor girl." She said with a small pause. "We should find someone to take us close to the sattlement, going on foot would be to slow." She said and made a gesture for the Rune Knight to follow her.

Moving through the village Sara noticed a man jump of his carriage and she quickly went to him. "Um excuse me sir, could you take me and my friend about fifteen kilometers easy, we will pay right now if we have too." She said as she looked up at the man that had his attention now turned towards her.

"No way, I'm not getting near there, with all the dark mages swarming that place."
He said and turned away but Sara quickly moved in front of him. "Look here, were mages sent to help you out with your problem with the dark mages, if you want us to save some of the missing girls, then you would take us there." She said her right eye changing its pattern with a small glow to it for a small menacing effect. "Alright, I'll take you there, but I'm not getting too close." He said as sweat dropped from his forehead as he climbed back on top of his carrage, the petite mage was successful in intimidating him.

She turned back to Shane and spoke up. "If your ready we can go, the sooner we get there, the sooner we could try to save someone." She said as she got ready to board the carrage that would take them close enough to Iron Corpse's settlement.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Post by Shane Stern 13th June 2019, 2:40 am

Shane was the first to exit the room, noting that Sara had stayed behind in the meeting room. Based on her more thorough approach, Shane knew she was probably asking for more information that he might have missed. It had been inconsiderate of him to just up and leave the room after hearing about the village chief’s kidnapped daughter, not even offering a word of consolation or any form of assurance that he would be able to bring her back. He wanted to promise the man something to give him hope, but it wasn’t his nature to promise something he wouldn’t be able to fulfill. And that had put him on edge, forcing him to vacate the room while keeping his emotion in check. He was a Spec Ops personnel, and emotions should be out of the equation when on a job.

When the door opened again and Sara came out, the girl approached him and took out a photo of a girl. She looked like seventeen or eighteen years old from the picture. Shane nodded as he listened to Sara elaborate on the girl’s disappearance.

“Sure, it would be better since we still don’t know who we are going up against,” Shane agreed with another nod as he allowed Sara to lead the way while he followed behind. They walked through the village, often drawing suspicious stares from the villagers going about their business. Some parents quickly reached for their kids’ hands or pulled them closer when Shane and Sara walked past. He wasn’t offended at all by their reactions, understanding what they were going through. They were strangers after all, and the two of them made a very suspicious couple with Shane looking like a mercenary and Sara wearing an eyepatch.

After ten minutes of walking, Sara suddenly sped up and approached a man that had just alighted from his carriage. He had probably just returned from a trip to the neighboring villages to deliver items. Shane watched in amusement as the petit girl negotiated with the caravan driver and got the better of him in the end.
“Yea, let’s go. I would like to see what this Iron Corpse guild is doing as well with all these girls they kidnapped,” Shane replied, his voice almost dropping into a growl at the end of his sentence when anger returned.

The fifteen kilometers was over within an hour by caravan, and the moment Shane and Sara had gotten off the caravan, the man mumbled “good luck” before hastening away. His speed was almost double of when they had come over from the village. Shane ignored the man and turned his attention to the valley that sprawled beneath the rocky hill they were on. It was actually a crater, with jagged outcrops of rock jutting out over the lip of the crater. The one they were on was one of the medium sized ones. In the middle of the crater was an unusual structure, an extremely large octagonal tarp held up by poles.

The activity within the crater seemed to be centered around the covered area. Kneeling down while signaling for Sara to do the same, Shane continued observing the layout of the place before coming up with a plan. Surrounding the center of the crater were tents and grass huts for the members of the dark guild. Shane continued looking until he finally found what he was looking for. At the side of the crater opposite to theirs, was a large detention cell made out of the earth itself. Within the cells, Shane could see multiple silhouettes which he believed to be the captured girls.

“Over there, I think that’s where they are keeping them,” Shane said as he pointed to the large holding cell. It was rather weird that there were no sentries to keep a lookout above the crater, seeing as how open the entire layout of the place was. Any mage much more powerful than Shane or Sara could easily just walk past and wreck them completely with a powerful spell. Shane turned around and gave a look over at the entire edge of the crater, trying to see if there was anything he missed. "Shouldn't there be some sentries defending this place? It's so... vulnerable."

As he focused on the far side of the crater, danger was striking close to home. Barely making any noise, five trails of earth was snaking in their direction quite fast.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Post by Killua 21st June 2019, 6:15 am

Sara noticed the slight anger in Shane's voice as he spoke, it was normal in her opinion even more as he was an official authority being in the Rune Knights. The girls didn't deserve anything close to what was happening to them and even she was slightly angry but she kept her emotions from showing and for sometime she felt that she was turning quite cold hearted, she was trying to open up a bit more on that topic as she believed it showed a more human part from the person, that they weren't a walking drone or uncaring for anything around them, as it was also something that had to be slightly adjusted if she wanted to reach her goal of Wizard Saint. She would be someone that people who cannot defend themselves would turn to, a beacon of light in a dark moment is what she wanted to be, to bring hope with her presence alone. At first she didn't have those thoughts, she wanted to be one because of the fame that came with the title, it was in a sense a way to make her mark in the world, it wasn't until she had met the CEO of the West Fiore Trading Company and one of the four gods of Ishgar, Ruvel that had changed her view on that. He had made her think why she would really want to be one. Just for her selfish goal or for the responsibilities that came with the job of being one. It was a whole lot that fell on your shoulders when you became one and now she was going to try to hold them, she had a lot to learn before she would join their ranks and would give her all to prove herself.

Their trip was mostly uneventful and rather fast and sometime on the way there Sara had made her hair in a ponytail so it didn't get in the way., as they got out of the caravan the man had mumbled something that she didn't hear and sped away, with speed that was quite faster then the speed they had used to get to here. The Rune Knight didn't say anything about it and went towards the edge of the cliff where the settlement was supposed to be. Sara decided to also not comment on the man and took of her eye patch as it was going to get messy really soon in her opinion. Following Shane, she moved next to him on the edge to look towards the masses that were below them. The Rune Knight had spoken up and pointed at the direction where the girls were probably held, it was something like a prison made from the earth itself but was quite smaller. "Most likely, we should try to sneak up unstead of getting all their attention to us." She said and her eyes trailed from one tent to another, there were quite a few and with the grass huts alongside them meant that they were most likely at least ten mages down there that they would have to fight. If they didn't fight with them and just sneaked out the girls the kidnappings would just continue. They had to deal with them, one way or another. Shane had grabbed her attention when he said that it was awfully quiet "I don't like it, even if they know that there were no mages to stop them initially, they should expect the villages around the area to call for the help of ones.." She said moving her gaze through the edge of the creater, unknown to her that danger was soon going to find them. "We should go then, before someone comes here, maybe they are changing post or whatever." She said and closed her eyes for a second.

Her eyes instantly opened and she tackled Shane to the side both of them landing on the ground, she looked to their previous location only to see five spikes made of the earth itself try to impale them from underneath. She looked to the left to see five nomad looking like figures approaching them. "Sorry that I didn't say anything." She said in a low voice as she got up and looked at the coming figures. "I looks like they did have someone up here.. guess we should just beat them up a bit and we can go." She said with a small smile as she got ready to battle the five mages that were coming in their direction. Finally some action was coming their way and Sara's blood was pumping faster and faster, it was finally time to start their cleanup job. "You ready?" Sara said as she turned her head towards Shane with a grin, before looking at the mages that attacked them.

Sara dashed forward with speed that suprised the mages, two of them holding their hands up as they shot a few earth spears towards her. It seems that they had something like maker magic from the small interactions between them. Still Sara was able to see them clearly and dodged them. One of the mages rushed towards her and met her in hand to hand combat. At first it seemed like they were even but Sara was quick to prove that wrong as she started to push the mage back. Jumping slightly in the air Sara attempted to roundhouse kick the mage in the head for a quick knockout but he dodged it, another spike of earth throw at her direction from one of the mages on the side which she easily sidestepped. The mage that she was fighting tried to capitalize and attack her but she used her small frame to narrowly dodge the fist, using the moment that he needed to slightly lean down to try and hit her, she delivered an uppercut to the man and and stumbled a bit backwards before he few to the ground. He wasn't getting up from that anytime soon. The petite mage looked towards her next closes target and didn't give them anytime as she dashed and engaged the next one. This time she didn't play around as she moved in between his guard and delivered a few punches to his stomach making him stumble and lean down to hold his stomach and Sara used the moment to deliver an axe kick her heel descending on the poor mages head as she slammed him into the ground.

She jumped to the side gaining some distance as one of the three other mages shot more of that earth magic towards her. She had dealt some damage to the group with taking out two out of the five mages. From their fightign style alone she knew that they were low ranked and using magic on them felt like a waste of energy. It was just time for Shane to clean up before they could move forwards with their mission or at least take one or two down before she would move in to take the third one out if he was still up.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Post by Shane Stern 25th June 2019, 4:29 am

Shane was just nodding in response to Sara’s words when the Rune Knight was tackled off his feet and ended up rolling on the sandy ground, before quickly finding his balance again. He got into a crouching position and saw five spikes of earth taking up most of his sight. The man stood back up and when he finally looked past the spikes, he saw the five men, clad in outfits comprised of large cloths of the same color as the environment, allowing them to better blend into the surroundings. Which was why the two mages hadn’t seen them until the last minute.

“No worries on that, rolling on the ground beats being impaled by a huge margin,” Shane said with a laugh, before continuing. “I’m always ready.”

Sara was already moving when he spoke, her confident lunge forward surprising two of the five mages. In their panic, the two men had formed earthen spears to shoot up from the rocky ground but it would have been too easy if the girl could be taken down by such crude attacks. Shane watched with his arms crossed across his chest, watching the battle play out for a short moment. The teamwork between the five men was average at best and their attacks repetitive. Within the short time frame, Sara had taken out two of the men, while leaping aside to avoid the sudden cluster of earth spikes thrown in her direction.

It was his turn. A round shield appeared on Shane’s back, secured by a harness that was strapped around his shoulders. Its appearance wasn’t all that impressive, the surface of the shield almost devoid of all its original coloring and littered with fine scratches. The equipment had seen plenty of battle, even more than Shane himself, and still held up well against the passage of time. Circling around the spikes of earth, remnants of the first half of the battle, Shane pulled out the shield with his right hand and slid his left forearm into the straps, gripping it tightly in his left wrist.

The first mage that he encountered used the same spell, a diagonal spear erupting out of the earth with frightening speed. It would have taken Shane’s head off had the Rune Knight not leapt up into the air, smashing the still rising spike with his shield and using it to vault over the spike. Shane dropped back down with an axe kick firmly planted on the man’s right shoulder, the cracking of his shoulder blades very audible alongside the man’s strangled shout of pain as he collapsed to the ground. Two more spikes flew at him from the ground, crisscrossing as they extended, forcing Shane to drop down low and charge forward from the gap between the two spikes.

The second mage of the remaining three, his face covered by his robes, thrust his fist forward, and for once, he was using a new spell. He had been standing behind a large rock, and as his fist moved forward, a large fist was formed from the rock behind him, aiming for Shane. But Shane had been through more. Shane dropped into a slide, the rock fist looming over his head, the wind generated from it blowing through his hair.

But this wasn’t a one on one battle. Another spike began to rise out of the earth, its sharp peak peeking out of the ground when Shane saw it and he quickly pressed down his shield on the spike. The upwards momentum pushed the Rune Knight into the air, flipping himself in position for a roundhouse kick to the side of the man’s head. A whipping sound was heard as the kick impacted, and the mage was down, flung a few feet sideways from the momentum of the kick before touching the ground again.

The moment he landed, Shane released his grip on the shield’s straps and hurled his shield with his right hand at the remaining mage. The shield cut through the air and smashed itself into the mage’s chest, crushing his windpipe and effectively putting him down, as the shield soared back towards him. The Rune Knight snatched it from mid-air, fully aware of its trajectory before securing it to his back again.

“Great warmup for a tag team,” Shane remarked, grinning as he walked back towards Sara. He was slowly getting used to using the shield, Patriot, in combat and he was glad that he had stuck to training with it despite the awful failures in the beginning. He resumed his position at the lip of the crater, knowing what to look for this time. The number of sentries were staggering, cleverly camouflaged to hide in plain sight to ambush any trespassers. “It seems like this is gonna be Crescent Island all over again, Sara. Look at the number of mages they actually have.”

As he watched the enemy, Shane looked back towards the fallen mages. He pondered over it for a few seconds, and decided that it would probably be a good idea to try.

“I have an idea. The five mages we fought earlier. They were all wrapped up, faces covered. We can sneak under disguise,” the Rune Knight offered, waiting for Sara’s reply to see if she had any objections.

Sara stood on the side and watched as Shane went sprung into action, a round shield appearing on his back and it wasn't long before that shield was tightly in his grip as he moved towards the remaining mages, she was quite surprised when he destroyed the spike made of earth with his shield. It was quite amusing to watch him fight, it was different style from what she had seen when they had fought the Syndicate guild. She was quite impressed from the style it was fast paced and at the same time he was able to move in the front line with a sturdy defence. It wasn't long before Shane had dealt with the mages in quick success, the last one getting struck down by the flying shield of the Rune Knight soaring back to him like boomerang back to him.

"Indeed, but they were just small fry" She said with a smile before looking around the crater's edge. "There are probably all around the edge, so we should be careful" She said and looked back at Shane and nodded at his remark about the Crescent Moon island. "Lets hope we don't have to deal with another nine part executive team" She said with a smirk, the last time they had to deal with a whole lot of people that tried to murdered them with every bit of their living spirit. She wanted to fight strong opponents, but currently she didn't feel like endangering the lives of the other girls.

Sara looked at Shane as he mentioned his idea and adapted a thinking pose with her hand on her chin. "Lets do it, it would be better if we can get in close." She said and walked towards one of the falled dark mages, the shortest of the three. She quickly took of his robe that was covering his whole body, the thing that was giving them the nomadic look. She draped on herself, the cloathing was a bit over sized but it was nothing it couldn't be fixed. A small light spear appeared in her hand and she used the tip to shorten the sleeves and the bottom part so she was free to walk around and move her arms. The singed part wasn't going to draw that much attention, it gave an even more nomadic look to things if you looked closely. She patiently waited for Shane to get dressed, moving a few strands of her hair to cover the red eye to not draw attention, before bringing the hood up and covering her face so only her eyes could be seen, or rather eye as one of them was hidden by her hair.

"I suggest that you do the talking if someone stops us, they are using girls as sacrifices so they may not have any females around their ranks." She suggested, it was plausible and she didn't want to risk it, being swarmed in the center of their encampment as that would prove quite troublesome for both mages. Once Shane was dressed, Sara spoke up "Lets get this over with Shane." She said with a small smile that could not be seen from the cloth that was covering her face.

When they had made their way down Sara's eyes moved from one position to another counting every mage she saw. Her mind rolling each number as she thought of ways to deal with everything as fast and smoothly as possible. "I've counted nine so far, if anything happens and we need to talk, I'll follow your lead, even if we got to beat them up in the center of everything." She said in a quiet voice so only Shane would be able to pick it up. She was going to try her best to hide the fact that she was a girl, as the cloth around her had encased her entire frame and made it a bit harder for them to just go from body. Sara was about to continue counting when two other nomad looking mages approached them, and she cursed their luck as one of them spoke up.

"Hey you two, what happened up there, and where is the third guy, did something happen to him." He said as he approached the disguised duo with his buddy in tow.

Sara hoped that Shane was going to get them out of this in some way, the only thing she would do is nod in the situation and hope that no quesitons were going to be thrown at her. But if they had to fight, she was ready the second they tried to do something she was going to be on them instantly. Now it was up to Shane was going to happen, she already told him that she was ging t follow him no matter what happened.

Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara] Empty Re: Destroyer of Mountains [Shane | Sara]

Although he was the one who had brought the incident on Crescent Island, Shane still groaned when Sara brought up the nine executives that they had painstakingly fought and brought down. It had been a close call, with the two mages expending all their trump cards in the battle from the beginning till the end. It made Shane recall how Sara had tapped into her hidden abilities, one that was purposely held back and only utilized when she had no choice. The small traces of smile appeared on his face as he wondered if she had already mastered using it, or at least made any progress in controlling that power.

Sara accepted his idea, and was quick to put on the cloak from one of the shortest mages, as well making modifications so that it would fit. Shane look for the biggest one and quickly put on the outfit as well. The moment he put it on, he could already feel his body temperature cooling down, the sudden absence of the sun’s rays directly attacking his exposed skin. Looking himself up and down, Shane found it to be a near perfect fit and saw no reason to make any modifications. The only thing that he lamented was his shield.

Even with his broad shoulders, the shield still extended beyond his frame and thus had to be returned to the storage dimension, lest he appear like a cloaked turtle. With only Breaker sheathed to his back, the only weapon that would be able to be kept hidden, Shane nodded in response to Sara’s prompt to enter the lion’s den.

“Yup, let’s get this done and the girls out of here,” the male mage replied before taking a slight lead in front of Sara, two paces in front of her so that if anyone approached them, they would naturally be talking to him first. With the hoods pulled down over their faces, the two of the managed to scout out of the inner perimeter, with Sara counting the number of guards stationed. The other people in the crater were barely giving the duo any special attention, allowing them to move around conspicuously until someone called out to them.

Shane cursed mentally, but then turned around when the two men walked up to them from behind. Walking forward to put himself between the approaching duo and Sara, Shane made sure that his hood wasn’t lowered so much that it would scream for attention and yet just enough to keep his identity a secret. He would have liked to impersonate the voice of the guard he had taken down, but Shane had never had the time to hear him speak.

So he took the only method he knew. Moving closer to the first guy, Shane swiftly smashed his right fist into the man’s abdomen, pushing the wind out of the man’s lungs as he doubled over. Quickly reacting, Shane held the man by his shoulders with his left hand, and then shouted out loud.

“Anyone here? He’s having an attack of some sort! Anyone!” Shane shouted out, instantly pulling everyone’s attention to them. Even the second guy who had been following behind was completely oblivious to what happened, equally sucked into the panic that Shane had created. A few other cloaked figures ran over as well, a few of them squatting down to inspect the man’s condition. With everyone tightly squeezed, the Rune Knight slowly edged out of the crowd and grabbed Sara’s hand before running to one of the quieter zones.

He ran into an alley between the huts before letting Sara’s hand go, moving close to the wall of the hut as he peeked out. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that no one had followed them.

“That was a close one,” Shane said as he turned back to look at Sara. His hood had already been removed from his head while running.
