Darkness, cold, lifeless, repressing. Anyone within the room, would see nothing but endless back, no lights, and no colors. The silence was deafening, endless, total. Not even the roaches could get through. For most, the totality of it would be maddening. For the Chaos Mage, it was comforting. Despite the darkness, he could see perfectly. The room was probably no more than fifteen feet in one direction, and ten in the other. Along the far wall was a solid metal door, the slit currently close. Not far from it would be a table, and two chairs. The table had an iron ring within the center, and all of the furniture was bolted to the ground.

Beyond that would be a wall of metal bars, the allow unknown to the Progeny. Though, he had no doubt they were as close to unbreakable as one could get. Within the bars would be his ‘room’. A mostly unadorned stone cell. Dark stone walls, floor, and ceiling greeted him in all directions. Along the back wall would be a bed, and other ‘necessities’ would be scattered throughout the room.

Sitting on the floor, along the western wall his back to stone, his arm mere inches from the bars Markus was leaning back. His eyes were closed, and if it was not four the occasional breath, he would be completely motionless. Being so solitary was… strange… for the chaos mage. After all, up until their spat Markus had always had at least Aporia to speak with. Yet now, whether out of choice or some other reason she was silent. Not that he cared.

In truth, Markus had found himself caring about less and less since his quest to find, and kill, his father had started. The man had eluded him, somehow always remaining one step ahead, always remaining just out of grasp. The chaos mage could not understand how none of his avenues had worked, he had hunted down almost every member of his father’s inner circle, and killed many of them. Each leading him one step closer, yes still the monster of a man evaded. Then, one day, Markus found himself confronted by the Runeknights, and not just any members. But, Mythal and Serilda. Two of the most powerful mages in Fiore, and leaders of the Runeknights. Though after reflecting the chaos mage fully understood why it had to be them, he had never expected such a turn of events.

Although he did not go down peacefully, the result was the same. Here he was. Rotting away. While his father continued doing as he willed. Markus had no idea how long he had been within the room, it could have been days, or weeks. Time seemed to have lost meaning. Not that it was the first time for such a thing. This room was nothing compared to the maze in Void.

Suddenly, Markus’ ears would prick as the silence was broken. In the distance, he could hear a door opening, before closing. Followed by footsteps… which was strange in itself. Generally, when Markus got ‘visitors’ there were no more than two sets of steps. His curiosity however did not last long, as he could tell with certainty that they were headed in his direction, and soon enough with a blinding light, the far door to his cell would be open. A man in Runeknight uniform would then step in, touch in hand.

Markus, blinded by the light would turn away as the man spoke. “Get Up. You are coming with me.” He would say forcefully, as sternly as possible. Yet, Markus could hear the slight crack in his voice. After all, the difference in their powers was very much noticeable. Without saying a work he would stand, as the Runeknight unlocked his cell door, and gestured for Markus to go first through the back metal door.

Without a word, Markus would walk forward to find half a dozen Runeknights standing around the door, surrounding him. Non would meet his eyes. Seems they had something against looking at an H+ ‘murderer’. With a sigh, he would remain passive as one of the men attached metal rings to his wrists, and feet, all of which were attached by heavy chain.

“Walk.” The first man would say, pressing into Markus’ back. As the group walked, Markus would keep his eyes forward. Flanked on all sides, he was forced to shuffle at the pace set by the group. As they went from one level to the next the Markus realized they were headed for the same place he had entered. Curiosity plaguing his mind, he would finally step through the final door into the courtyard beyond.

Seems it was time to learn what was next for him.

It was a comparatively nice day, even for Amber Island, the bright summer sun breaking through the space between the curtains of the Ambassador's bedroom, a small stretch of light illuminating the space dimly. The sky was cloudless as far as the eye could see, the inhabitants of the province controlled by Dies Irae and the members of the guild alike probably enjoying the mild, oceanic temperatures and the nice weather as long as they could. Johann, however, had other plans for today, throwing the black coat over his shoulders and placing the matching hat on his head, completing his Ambassador uniform. It wasn't often he had guild business in Fiore to attend to, as most of his work was, bar a few missions, related to the guild directly, though this was certainly different, and an unexpected occasion no less. The man took the red sword from the stand by the window, spinning it around with a practiced motion before sheathing it, turning towards the door. His way would lead him out of his apartment and through the East Wing of Dies Irae's guildhall into the Throne Hall itself, before finally finding his way out of the massive granite archway that comprised the entrance to the same. The fresh ocean breeze, as usual, carried the briny scent of the sea all the way up the hill the HQ. A sensation that did not fail to induce nostalgia every time the silver-haired Ambassador experienced it. Today, the wind would carry him to his destination ... to Era. Unceremoniously, Joh's form faded away in a small swirl of wind, leaving behind not a trace, before, just seconds later, rematerializing in a similar vortex.

He took a deep breath before exhaling with a sharp sigh, raising his eyes towards the structure before himself, letting his eyes wander for a few seconds before centering his gaze on the gate ahead. Undoubtedly, this was the place the Field Marshal of the Rune Knights had mentioned. He stepped forward, slowly, but steadily, a determined stride carrying him closer to the gate. "Hold!", a guard in Rune Knight uniform hurried forward, gesturing for the Ambassador to stand, Johann willingly following it. "What's your business?". Johann gave the man a calculating look, but a controlled, polite smile would quickly adorn his face nonetheless. "I do believe Field Marshal Sinclair announced my arrival. I am Ambassador von Weiss, Guildmaster of Dies Irae". The man pulled back the sleeve on his right arm, exposing the carmine cross on the back of his hand before lifting it, the Knight giving him an acknowledging nod. "We expected your arrival, Ambassador. Please, follow me". "Thank you".

The Knight gestured something, and the massive gate that led inside the courtyard behind opened, Johann following the other inside, up to the large "building", more like fortress, inside, the Knight indicating for him to hold. "They should be here shortly". Johann nodded once more in response, his eyes again exploring the area. The Rune Knights seemed like they really did place a great emphasis on security. They would be prepared to hold most likely anything, or at least, so the Ambassador assumed. He would have continued the thought, but a solid steel door slid open before them, taking his attention back to the situation.

As the small group stepped outside, the light smile on Johann's smile widened upon spotting the man he had come for. It had been a while since they had met, of course, but his red hair made it unmistakable. "Hello, Markus. Long time no see. You're probably surprised to see me here". The Ambassador took off his hat, holding it by his side, eyeing the other up and down, his eyes wandering to the men by his side. "I think it would be easier to talk to an old friend without these, if you please", Joh pointed to the shackles around the man's hand and feet. The guards looked to their leader, who gave a nod, the men beginning to remove them from the other. "So, I heard you got yourself into a little bit of a predicament with the law. Unfortunate, but it seems like it was unavoidable. I think I have something I can do about that, though". Johann placed the hat back on his head, the smile on his face turning somewhat more serious. He had an offer to make, after all.

"Tell me, Markus, how much have you heard about Dies Irae?"

The light was almost blinding, impossibly bright after Markus’ time underground. For a brief moment his heart would contract before increasing to a rapid pace, and his breath would catch. The Chaos Mage would remember his extended years trapped within the labyrinth, and the first time he re-entered Earthland, before all of this had had started. The Chaos mage would briefly remember the fear he felt, and the pain he had been in, before remembering where he was.

Luckily for him, the feeling was short-lived and soon replaced by confusion, and questioning. Suddenly, Markus found himself face to face with Johann, the new leader of the up and Rising Dies Irae, and a fellow Vessel. Markus had come to trust the man after fighting with him, and learning a few things, even if the chaos mage did not truly know him on any kind of personal level. Still, Markus was wary. Johann was immensely powerful, leader of a guild, and a Wizard Saint. The chaos mage doubted he would be able to take on such a foe if it came down to it. In fact, he wondered if perhaps that was why Johann was here, one of the few mages who could handle Markus’ execution…

When the other man talked, the chaos mage would cock his head but remain silent. He was indeed surprised to see Johann, and far from willing to open up. Though, he did give a coy smile when Johann requested the guards remove his chains. With a quick look he would stare at the guard as he worked the metal, unwilling to meet his gaze. As soon as the metal fell from his wrists he would grasp at his hands and flex. Even if it had been a short walk, the heavy chains had been uncomfortable. For a brief moment Markus would take a deep breath, and feel as his magic power surged, his eyes would flash with chaotic energy causing the guard to back up slowly. Closer to Johann, who obviously provided the most security.

Freedom… Markus would briefly speak to himself before looking at Johann once more, his eyes once more were clear and devoid of magic or emotion. “Johann.” He would finally say, giving the man a nod willing to listen to the rest of what was to come from this change of predicament.

The chaos mage would raise a curious brow as Johann spoke of possibly being able to do something with Markus’ current state of affairs. However, when the man spoke of his guild the chaos mage suddenly got a worrisome feeling.

“I have heard of them, and their… nature. Though, I will admit to being preoccupied with offer affairs.” He would say simply, but with a twinge of interest. “So my knowledge of might be lacking…” Markus would look towards the guards.

“Why don’t we walk and talk? I haven’t had much chance to stretch my legs.” He would say glancing about, turning his head when one of the guards spoke up.

    “I... I’m not sure if that’s a good idea.”

The Ambassador watched as the guards removed all of the other's chains, Markus seemingly enjoying the newly regained freedom that had come back to him, or rather, had been bestowed, if only for the time being ... at least for now. "So I have heard. I'm glad our reputation seems to precede us", Johann would comment when the Chaos Mage confirmed that he had indeed heard of the organization, a satisfied smirk marking his expression. Of course, there would be ample time to talk this over, Johann content with rolling what the Chaos Mage suggested, trusting that he wouldn't try something. Then again, who was Johann to tell? He didn't quite know Markus well enough to discern the other's intentions and aspirations, not to mention the lengths the man would go to to achieve them. He would rather not be forced to explain to Serilda that one of her prisoners fled. He decided to take the chance. "Very well, Markus. Let's go for a little walk, shall we? I'll explain along the way"

The guard looked like he was ready to say something, opening his mouth, but held for a second before closing it again, swallowing his comment. He wouldn't be able to sway the Ambassador's decision his way regardless. With that, the silver-haired man turned slightly, inviting the Chaos Mage to follow him for a stroll around the walled-in courtyard before beginning to walk. "So, Markus, from Fairy Tail to prison? That's quite the change of pace, is it not? I would ask you why, but I suppose you do have your reasons". The man didn't mean to pry into the redhead's affairs too much, though from what the Ambassador had gathered the other had been detained on some serious charges, murder perhaps being the most severe. Joh couldn't really talk, not from a position of moral superiority, at least, but he was curious as to why exactly the former Fairy Tail mage had started going on a murder spree. It was none of his business, either way. Not as long as the murdered were dark mages, evildoers, lawbreakers, and so on and so forth. "I take it these people were not exactly innocent?", he inquired about the nature of the man's "crimes", something that, depending on the context, Johann possibly wouldn't even consider a crime. "If so, perhaps I can offer you a way out of this ... predicament."

He would expand on that after a brief pause. "Dies Irae, as you might now, is a guild that hunts dark mages, dark guilds, lawbreakers, the whole lot. Now, I recognize that you might be considered one by the standards of the ... broader public, perhaps even the Magic Council as well, but ...", Johann took a deep breath, the smirk formerly adorning his expression changing to a somewhat proud grin, "... perhaps not in the eyes of Dies Irae, or my own. Markus, can you explain to me why exactly you were hunting these people down and why you killed them, one after the other?". If Johann's assessment of the other was right, his doings had had a purpose, a good reason, and hadn't been volatile, committed as random acts of violence. Johann's next actions depended on the Chaos Mage's reasoning behind his acts and how he would present it to the Ambassador, and depending on what Markus said, Joh would be able to offer the other a way out of this ... and even further, a legal way to continue his "work", lest it would be in vain.

Markus stretched his legs and popped his back as the well-dressed Johann debated and agreed to his request. Truth be told, Markus had no plans for escape, or assault. At the moment, he could care less about what happened from here. He needed time to sit and plan, time to decide what he would next do. His father had gone into hiding, meaning Markus would have to wait either way, wait for him to once more show his head. If anything, though, the best part of this whole ordeal was the fact that it caused chaos to enter his fathers’ affairs, and if nothing else Markus was certain he was still completely unknown to the man.

Either way, with a heavy sign Markus would give a sidelong glance at the guards, who were not all too happy with the decision. Markus would listen as the other man asked his questions, or more so… stated the current state of affairs, before gesturing for Markus to walk with him. He did not disagree with Johann, Fairy Tail to Prison was certainly not what Markus had expected to happen when he first said his goodbyes. Nor was it the change of pace he had been wanted. There was something maddening about prison, isolation, and even darkness. Markus had felt it before, and was reminded of it during the short time he had been waiting…

Markus understood why the questions, for whatever reason he was here due to what Markus had done. As such, it made certain sense the other man was trying to get him to talk. To open up. Though, Markus had a feeling. Whatever it was Johann had wanted. His first assumption, Markus’ execution, was becoming less and less likely. Though, that did not mean the chaos mage would drop his guard, not yet, and not ever. When, finally, Johann got to his point. Markus would turn to look at him and raise an eyebrow. “Help me? Interesting… Your assumption was correct… Innocent. They were not.” He would say calmly as Johann paused.

When Johann started to explain Dies Irae, the chaos mage would listen passively. Markus was not surprised, both men had come to the same conclusion. Truthfully Markus would certainly fall under the category of mages they would hunt. At least… on paper. Though, it seemed like Markus, Johann understood that paper, and truth were not always aligned, and what other perceived was not always the case. When Johann would grin, Markus would wait with a inquisitive eye.

When Johann asked for Markus to explain each kill, suddenly, the chaos mage realized… this was gonna be a long conversation. Taking a deep breath, he would look seriously at the man before speaking. He did not share the same grin, though Markus never really did. “Truthfully. There are many reasons for what I did. Though… and I think you understand… I was not always the one controlling the show.” Markus would say looking at Johann with a series look. Normally, he would not go around telling people that he was not always in control of his actions, after all what better way to be locked up permanently due to being crazy. Johann however, Markus knew would understand.

Now that that was out of the way, Markus would continue. “I am searching for a man. A very bad man. He is part of the upper Magi of Belem, and though there is much suspicion if his… ties… to darker entities, none of it can be proven, and… his money gets him out of most questions. Those ties deal with the rest.” He would explain as they walked.

“Some time ago, I went on a job with Nessa Lux which involved us sneaking into their compound and saving some of their… slaves.” Markus would say, with distaste in his voice. “In Bellam, those born without magic are worse than nothing, and servitude is very common.” He would add, assuming, but not certain if Johann would know the politics of the land.

“While there, we did not run into the man, or his wife. However, we did have a running with his daughter, and when the job was done I used the connections we made, and the people we saved, as a way to learn more.” Markus would breath, looking away. He knew, one way or the other, Johann would have to learn who the man was. “Victor Eldridge, head of the esteemed Eldridge Family was always a monster of a man to his family. However… I learned after that job just how far his push for… power… would go.” Markus had no doubt that the paperwork would show his last name, and whether or not Johann knew it, and was able to put the two together was really of little consequence. Unless he asked.

“While tracking his activities, and… letting myself be known to his network. I found myself up against quite heavy odds on multiple occasions. Luckily… Aporia, and my own power was enough to see me through, relatively safely. Honestly, my power is exhausting, and having to limit it to protect those sorts of scum put me in danger, in a way I felt was not worth the risk.” Markus would say with no emotion. “It is easier to kill, than it is to let them live.”

Markus would pause, waiting to see if there was any sort of reaction from the other man. Whether he would agree or disagree. “Either way. I could not let my identity get back to him, and when I found a new compound it helped if his men knew their lives were in danger. They were much more willing to give me the information I wanted to know.” Markus would say, explaining more his exact reasons for killing. “Most of the deaths were hidden from the public. However, there was a rather… Messy occurrence that I think led to the Rune Knights finding me. In total, twenty-six people were counted dead on arrival. I was wounded rather deeply, so was not able to clear the mess before Rune Knights arrived.”

Taking a deep breath, Markus would try and decide what it is he really was trying to say. Truthfully, he could not explain why he hunted each one down. Most of the men were lackies to worse men. They were in the way. “Johann. I do not regret what I did. The men I killed, while having just chosen the wrong side, were working for bad men. I took down two of… Two of my fathers’ generals.” Markus decided there was no reason to hide the truth, even if he did not know already. “And many others within his organization. I would love to blame the deaths on Aporia’s chaotic influence or say that there was no other option. But the truth is. I killed bad men, so that I could get to worse men. No innocents were hurt, and any innocents on site, such as the various magicless ‘servants’, were either freed, or… smuggled away.” Markus would say, admitting to another crime without care.

Turning a new leaf... Kinda Empty Re: Turning a new leaf... Kinda

An acknowledging nod answered the chaos mage, shooting the man a quick side glance before centering his eyes on the path ahead once again, all the while keeping a steady pace, walking alongside Markus' side. Naturally, they weren't innocents. He hadn't imagined otherwise. "Of course", Johann responded simply and confidently to keep the flow of their conversation going, Markus explaining that he was not the one to "control the show" at all times. That also was to be expected, especially when meddling with the darker sides of society, as the Ambassador had learned, although the silver-haired Rune Mage, at current, couldn't tell what exactly this meant. Hopefully, he would soon learn, though, as Markus would continue to explain exactly what had occurred, clarifying what Joh had asked for.

And, of course, Markus would follow up with that. From what Johann could gather, in a short summary, Markus was after a man that headed some kind of enterprise in Bellum, which seemed to be in contact with the same darker sides of society that Johann had thought of earlier. Not just that, it seemed to be dealing in slavery as well, something that was neither unheard of nor illegal in Bellum, but was detestable still. Johann had no reason to mistrust the man, either, especially considering he brought Nessa into the equation. Johann had known Nessa for a while now, and if the Starlight Maiden was involved he trusted that the cause was just. He knew the Ace of Fairy Tail wouldn't get herself involved in any ... shady business, for the lack of a better term, not to mention it seemed like they had actually saved people rather than go on a mission to exact some kind of vendetta. Johann once more acknowledged Markus' point with a nod.

Though there was something that caught Johann's ears. "Victor ... Eldridge? ... I see". That was certainly an intriguing twist. From what Johann could remember, Markus had introduced himself with the same name when they had first met a while ago within the Cursed Lands, and it wasn't outlandish to assume that the two were related, especially considering Markus specifically brought up family. It seemed like a particularly sore nerve, though, the Ambassador unwilling to pursue the matter further. At the same time, he would be sure to remember that name, however ... just in case.

Markus further explained that, if the Ambassador understood it correctly, the Chaos Mage had a much harder time holding back than was appropriate for the type of people he was dealing with, Johann finding himself agreeing wholeheartedly. In fact, the Ambassador could relate to the other's actions, and while he would afford mercy and reserve himself when he could, he understood that sometimes it just wasn't possible ... especially when one of the Seven Seals influenced you. The Ambassador could follow the man's line of argument if that was what it could be called, but the man's words only reinforced the believes he already held about the other.

"I wouldn't have thought you did, Markus. You strike me as a man of integrity, in your own way. The fact remains that the Rune Knights, and Fiore at large, view the killing of others, bad or not, as a crime". The grin would phase from the man's face, his expression now, too, turning to a somewhat more serious gaze, turning to Markus.

"I believe myself insightful enough to trust that your actions were not just warranted, they were just. You sought out evil and destroyed it using the tools at your disposal. As far as I am concerned, no crime has been committed, and as such your imprisonment in this facility is unwarranted". At least, it would be under a set circumstance, but Johann would get to that next.

"Members of Dies Irae benefit from that privilege, at least". Johann was certain that Markus understood the implication the Ambassador was going for. "Let me go back to what I said earlier. Dies Irae, as you may or may not know, is a guild that aims to uphold natural order and destroy the darkness that seeks to corrupt the world. Much like what you did. And I have the feeling that what you have done, Markus Eldridge, doesn't make you a bad person, and I imagine that you do not desire to be one either. In any case ...".

Johann now fully turned to face the Chaos Mage, stopping in his stride and taking his hat off. "... I can offer you a way out of this prison. As a member of Dies Irae, you will be absolved of all your "crimes" up to this point. And if you are true in what you are saying, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, then Markus, you will be able to pursue your goal and finish what you started. With a guild to back you up, assuming you adhere to the guild's rules".

Joh took off the glove from his right hand, holding it with his other as he extended it towards the Chaos Mage, metaphorically and physically offering him the deal he had proposed.

"So, Markus Eldridge, what do you say?".

    Markus Eldridge

Markus would take a deep breath, once more looking about the open sky in front of him. He wondered for a brief moment whether he should run. After all, if he was to make a portal to the void right here and right now… what was the worst that could happen?... With a quick glance at Johann he would shake his head. If it were just the Rune Knights, or even some other mages Markus might have been more tempted, but he knew Johann, trusted the man… and more importantly. Markus was not sure if he could beat him.

The chaos mage however did not have to wait long after his explained his situation to learn what Johann himself though. It was strange, to think that his fate… at least for now… was at the discretion of the man in front of him. Markus would cock an eyebrow at Johanns first comment. It was true, Markus certainly hated dishonesty, cheaters, and liars. Though he might be considered a murder, at least he was honest about it… When Johan continued speaking Markus would listen passively, somewhat surprised that someone actually agreed with his motives, and choices. It was not common, his morality.

As Johann turned the conversation back to Dies Irae Markus would realize exactly where this conversation was going, exactly what it was Johann wanted of him, and exactly how he was going to get free. Though Markus might not be a good person, it seemed his sense of character, or at least his power, was something the other guild could benefit from. In truth, Markus had made his decision before the other man had even stopped talking.

“I say… Yes.” Markus would say after but a moments pause. “However, in the interest of clarity how about you tell me of your guild laws?” He would ask. He assumed at least in part they would act much like Fairy Tails. Truthfully though, Markus knew if he needed to run or escape it would be much easier to do such from outside of the Rune Knights Compound and prison. Besides, this could be fun. After all, Johann was the vessel of Mars, one of Aporias Siblings, and the chaos mage had no doubt the two of them could find common ground.

Turning a new leaf... Kinda Empty Re: Turning a new leaf... Kinda

Post by Shen Kadokawa 11th January 2020, 8:18 am

A faint smirk crawled over the Ambassador's lips when the other responded in an affirmative fashion, an outcome that Johann viewed as highly desirable. Markus, in the Ambassador's eyes, was at the same time both not a criminal, but also a valuable asset to the newly established Dies Irae as well. While Johann couldn't exactly boast with the fact that he was closely familiar with the Chaos Mage in a capacity that entailed more than the surface knowledge he had acquired over the course of their few meetings, Johann knew, or rather, had seen that the Starlight Maiden from Fairy Tail, Nessa Cordelia Lux, seemed to trust him, a fact that was more than enough for the Ambassador. He reckoned that the company she kept was, at his core, anything but a bad man. On the other hand, Johann wasn't known for his outstanding interpretational skills when it came to people in particular. At the end of the day, all he could do was wait and see what would become of this decision. In any case, though, it was safe to say that he based his offer and the consequences of said offer on one thing and one thing alone: Trust.

It seemed, though, that Markus' agreement did not come unconditionally. Johann had expected no less. Only a fool would blindly agree to a deal which was not clear to them in its entirety. "I'm glad we could reach an agreement", the Ambassador nodded before continuing. "As for the guild's laws ...", he paused briefly, gathering his thoughts and laying them out before presenting Markus with the basis for Dies Irae. "... I honestly believe that we aren't too strict with our rules. Regardless, if you were to join, you would have to adhere to the guild's purpose. The only reason we exist is to protect those who cannot protect, to avenge those who cannot avenge, to uphold balance and order by destroying those that seek to disrupt it. To a degree, you will be expected to follow the orders of the guild masters as well when necessary". He didn't know how Markus would take that last rule specifically, Johann, based on man's previous "work" reckoning that he was more of a free spirit than anything else. Of course, Johann could be persuaded to be a little more lax with his acquaintance, as he tended to be, as long as general discipline and efficiency were sufficiently maintained. He figured, or hoped, perhaps, that, in the long run, this would be the least of the other's worries. "Lastly, Dies Irae exists to fight in a conflict on behalf of the ordinary people of Earthland. As such, it is natural that one of our staples is respect for those that make our fight possible. All we require is a degree of decency, etiquette, and discipline when dealing with civilians and their ... sensibilities".

The Ambassador took a deep breath, letting his gaze wander over the courtyard and the sky for a few moments as he gathered his thoughts once more to continue in a cohesive manner. "Apart from these basic guidelines, you are free to pursue most given contracts or cases you desire as long as you remain loyal to the guild. Sanctioned by the Magic Council, of course. You will also find that the line of work we engage in provides a rather decent payout, should you take interest in such things. Apart from that, Markus ... well, just be yourself, and I'm sure that we all will get along just fine". That concluded all the Ambassador would have to say on that matter, as, in honesty, there wasn't much more to explain. He figured that he had laid out the parameters of their cooperation in a matter most genuine, leaving only one question open.

"If you agree with these stipulations then I would say we can get you out of here. You've spent enough time here, don't you think? Is there any unfinished business you need to attend to before you join me and my comrades or would you rather accompany me on the way back to Amber Island?". Of course, Johann wouldn't stop Markus from dealing with any urgent matters he had to deal with as soon as he was out of the confines of this facility, but wouldn't mind the latter option either. He figured at least offering the man the choice was not especially constricting. If Markus would be busy, he would simply let the other know to come to Amber Island when he had dealt with what had to be dealt with.
