This had not been the first time Illya had been betrayed by her idols. Her mother had done so many awful things, and the Fairy Tail that she had grown up adoring was so different. She had initially joined Fairy Tail for the idea of camaraderie, and the hope that it was the same guild that her employers had told her about. The fun, the incessant devotion to ridding the world of evil, it was nonexistent in this new Fairy Tail. Everything seemed mechanical. There was such little life in it, and they seemed strangely apathetic towards those lofty goals that she had in mind. That perfect image of the white knights of Fairy Tail, riding in against the forces of evil was dashed in favor of what seemed to be little more than a business. Her bosses told her of the times that Fairy Tail's guild hall could be easily confused for a tavern, and the loud noises that could be heard through the entire city, and that seemed absent here. She had desired to rid the world of dark guilds, and Fairy Tail was apathetic towards her goal. She needed something drastic, and Fairy Tail was simply not enough.

Since she had awoken, she figured that if she were to be failed to be admitted into Fairy Tail, even as something as simple as a maid or waitress, she would move to join the Rune Knights. She did not realize that she had capabilities for magic, and so she could at the very least enlist into the ranks as a footsoldier that would be able to fend off against the forces of evil. However, since she had discovered her magical prowess, she came to know about a new guild that was devoted to ridding evil from the world: Dies Irae. The Rune Knights had to worry about keeping the entire country under control, and Fairy Tail perhaps was too in the public eye to be able to do anything drastic, but she nonetheless felt as though it was her obligation to rid the world of this scum of the earth.

Perhaps Dies Irae is still too drastic, child.

Yemaya was always too quick to keep Illya in a place of peace and contentment. Despite the subverted expectations, Yemaya still thought that Fairy Tail was a fine enough place for Illya. Illya could never accept something like that. She needed to do everything in her power to eliminate every dark guild out of existence, and Dies Irae was the right place to do it. From what Illya could understand, Dies Irae seemed to almost be above the law when it came to the handling of dark guilds. Vigilante work had always seemed strange to Illya, but this was a circumstance in which it seemed necessary. Dark guilds were a blight on the world, and Illya needed to remove them. She was not much of a fighter herself, admittedly. She hated combat and violence, but she needed to swallow her apprehension for the sake of the world. None of it made sense. Why had Fairy Tail rejected her requests to take the fight to the dark guilds? Why had they and the Rune Knights alike failed to assist her all those years ago in her time of need? None of it made sense. She knew that, for her own sake, she needed to join a guild, but there were so few that made sense. Sabertooth had held a rivalry with Fairy Tail. The Rune Knights and Fairy Tail had betrayed her in the past, and Fairy Tail had betrayed the girl's expectations. As such, for the purposes of her goal, the only option that remained was Dies Irae.

It'll be fine, Yemaya. Their atmosphere can't be much different from Fairy Tail's, and they specifically want to destroy dark guilds. You might not like them, but it's what's necessary in order to get revenge on mother."

Yemaya closed her eyes, still soaring in the air. Illya had thought long and hard about this decision. She was a girl that had painted Fairy Tail as this shining beacon, only to find it to be little more than a bundle of employees too focused on work to have fun. Yemaya had always warned that her expectations were too high, but Illya brushed her aside and it led to Illya's downfall. Of course, the tipping point was the lackadaisicality towards dark guilds. All the stories she had heard of how Fairy Tail nearly singlehandedly wiped out the entirety of the feared Balam Alliance, all of it seemed to flutter away in a flight of disappointment and betrayal.

Betrayal was the worst feeling Illya had about everything. There was no fault but her own for this. It was entirely because of her sky-high expectations, but she could not bring herself to even look at the town of Magnolia the same. A tickling in the back of her head brought her back to the days of her childhood. Even all those years ago, Fairy Tail failed to notice such a heinous, evil woman such as her mother living in Fairy Tail's own town. The stories she had heard from all her employers and even those from the kids who were so close to her personal hell led her to believe in an unwavering devotion to family, camaraderie, and the utmost protection of the innocent from the world of those that would dare to slither in the dark. If her childlike vision of Fairy Tail was a lie, then what else about her entire life was a lie?

Her hand tightened against Yemaya's back. The expanse of blue ocean was all that could be seen, save for a small speck of what must have been land. Yemaya began her dive towards the island, landing on its beaches. The two looked around, Illya noticing a figure approaching the landed duo. Yemaya craned her neck downwards to allow Illya to slide off. Illya made sure she was presentable as she looked at her guardian. Yemaya, too, did her best to look majestic, her head craned some forty feet in the air. Illya straightened her posture as the figure came closer.

A Girl Betrayed by Her Idols HOtaKzb

There was little the Ambassador enjoyed more than the ocean. The fresh breeze, the briny smell, and taste of salt, the ever-present rush of clear waves that slowly but surely crawled their way towards the shore. It was simultaneously nostalgic and soothing. The cool winter winds were still relatively mild and the gentle crashing of the tides provided a surrounding that was not easily found. Johann remembered walking these shores with his mother when he was younger, simply absorbing the beauty of the endless horizon that stretched out before him. He'd always wondered what the world beyond Amber Island had been like when he had been younger, his desire to venture past the horizon driving his ambitions. That had been, of course, before his life had taken a dramatic turn.

These days, the silver-haired Rune Mage was thankful for moments such as this one. Moments where he would get to remember, to let go of authority, of responsibilities, and simply reminisce days long since passed while feeling the soft breeze of the ocean wind on his skin. Between paperwork, guild duties and other official business he seldom had chances to spend free moments in contemplative solitude. Not just that, but solitude was a rare good when once shared their body with another entity. Mars was oddly quiet, perhaps retreating to his own moments of silent rest, although the God of Ishgar did not know if the Second Seal actually had any necessity for something of that sort, nor did he necessarily feel the need to break the silence he enjoyed to inquire. It was what it was.

Sometimes, so the Ambassador thought, he wished to return to simpler days, when life had been a little more two-dimensional, though that wasn't to say he wasn't happy with how things had ended up falling into place. He had everything he'd dreamed of not so long ago and would do what he had to protect this image, this reflection of happiness he had captured from the world he had discovered out there. That was the sole reason for the existence of Dies Irae, after all. To protect those that couldn't protect themselves, to exact punishment where others couldn't, to avenge the fallen and restore the balance. It was a delicate affair, naturally, but the business of bounty-hunters and soldiers was, by now, well-established, and the people knew what to expect from the mages clad in white and red, and while their methods were sometimes necessarily radical, the people did not care whether it was a Rune Knight or a mage of Dies Irae that helped. The main thing was that they were, and would remain, a force of good in Earthland, and as long as Joh and Sivvy were alive, that wouldn't change.

Lost in thought, the man paid little mind to anything but the endless expanse of waves bathed in glistening sunlight before him until, from the corner of his eye, he saw it approaching. A shadow at first, way off in the distance, gradually getting closer, however, until it could no longer be ignored or overlooked. The form of a massive, bird-like creature that soared through the sky drew closer, and it did so quickly, heading almost directly towards Johann, who simply stood and watched, hands in the pockets of his black cloak, a nigh serene smile on his face, as the creature landed close enough near him, sand thrown up with every flap of its massive wings until finally, it came to a still. For a few seconds, the God of Ishgar simply stared at the creature, examining it from head to toe before looking up with a smile. Magical beasts were not a rare sight on Amber Island, as they were native to the region, of course, though the Ambassador couldn't say that he knew what or who exactly had found its way before him today. He figured, though, that the bird was not aggressive. If it had been he'd already found out.

To his surprise, though, it didn't seem like that was everything. Unceremoniously, someone seemed to slide off the creature, a person, landing in the sands of the beach below. The Ambassador took a few steps forward, the creature and what appeared to be a young woman, a girl, some might say, at this point undoubtedly having noticed the man, who raised a hand in greeting, the other one remaining leisurely inside the pocket of his coat. "Hey", he greeted without much official tone, a simple smile, friendly, warm, defining his expression. "I don't suppose I can help you with anything? You and your friend here seem ... lost", he joked, looking up to the bird-like creature once again. The two didn't appear to be from around these parts, at least the Ambassador hadn't seen them around before while being certain that a creature like this one was memorable, to say the least. This really only allowed for two logical scenarios: The two were lost travellers who had stumbled upon Amber Island, or they had deliberately sought out this remote piece of land. Whatever the case, Johann was glad to assist the two, should they at all require it. Johann was always eager to talk to new people, or creatures perhaps, if the same could communicate, and as such was curious what they had to say.

Illya looked confusedly at the man who had approached. The stories she had heard of Dies Irae painted the guild as something more serious, more brooding, and more edgy. Instead, the first person to greet her was this casual-looking man, who simply asked if she was lost. "Um, I don't think I'm lost. At least, I'm pretty sure. This is the location of Dies Irae, right? Uh...if it is, I'd like to join, I guess? Oh, right! I suppose I should tell you my name. I'm Illya Pegasus, from Magnolia!" The mention of her hometown struck her heart. "You might be thinking 'What's a girl from Magnolia doing here when she could've just joined Fairy Tail?' Well...about that, I did join for a bit, but I just...I wanted to do more to eliminate dark guilds off the map, and I heard that Dies Irae was the place to do that!"

Illya realized how stupid she must have sounded and quickly planted her hands against her mouth. She had just met this strange person and she was not even certain if he was a member of Dies Irae, and yet she fully explained her entire life story in the past few weeks to him. If he was not a member of Dies Irae, or if he was perhaps a part of the Rune Knights working towards an investigation into the guild that Illya had heard so many dubious things about, then she could have placed herself into an unfortunate situation. "Oh, I suppose if I want to join I should probably tell you about what I can do. Would be weird for someone to want to join a wizard guild if they can't use magic, right?" She laughed to herself, trying to lighten her own mood. "I'm honestly not too familiar with it, but some people said I'm something like a 'Sound Slayer,' or something like that? I myself just kinda found out a couple of months ago, and it doesn't really make much sense to me and-"

Peace, child. Yemaya's voice rung in Illya's head. The two were bound somehow, and Yemaya could speak directly into Illya's mind. Perhaps it was a way to spare Illya's sensitive ears, but Illya had become used to it. While Yemaya had few reasons to speak to others, she tilted her head towards the man that had approached and telepathically spoke to the collective. "I will fully admit that I am not aware of how this guild operates, but the rumors I have heard paint a dubious picture of your guild. At least, one would assume someone of your magical prowess would be a member of a guild, or at least would have some reason for being in such a desolate area. I do not ask for much. Simply let Illya participate in some battles. Though she will admit that she harbors no love towards violence, she will see such matters as necessary when it comes to the destruction of dark guilds, which, even in the cloud of rumors and hearsay Dies Irae has, seems to be a widely agreed goal. I would ask that you provide companionship to her as well. She has a...murky history with betrayal from her idols. Despite my best warnings, she harbored too high of expectations for Fairy Tail, and I do believe that it has contributed to her current predicament." Yemaya craned her neck into a bow. "I make this humble request to you, sir."

To say that the Ambassador was confused was an understatement. Not only had these two just landed on the beach, the girl, in particular, seemed inherently uneasy, or at least Johann interpreted her accelerated speech and somewhat all-over-the-place introduction as such. It was hard to get anything from the girl aside from the overload of information she presented, Johann opening his mouth with a sheepish smile, though the girl kept going on. The Ambassador, it appeared, would confine himself to taking the role of listener. Despite the flood of words, the silver-haired man, his hat hiding a headful of messy, argent strands, kept his gaze upon her, smiling while listening intently. Firstly, the Ambassador had to acknowledge that his initial assumption had been way off the mark. It would seem that the girl and her companion had purpose on Amber Island, the girl, who would introduce herself as "Illya Pegasus from Magnolia", specifically making it known that she sought to join the guild of Dies Irae, which was, of course, located on this very island. Johann had to suppress the urge to sigh under his breath. All he'd wanted was to admire the beautiful ocean, take in the breeze, the sound of the waves, and yet, guild business seemed to almost haunt him even out here, even when he was "off-duty". Truly, the God of Ishgar wondered if there was no escape from it, quietly cursing the Magic Council for, more or less, directly and indirectly, forcing this position and this guild on him.

At least, the Ambassador thought, the girl eliminated a whole bunch of questions he would have for any new recruit right off the bat, her reason for travelling to Amber Island laid out clearly. There was not just that, however. Illya, as the girl had introduced herself, would go on to explain details about her particular, well, capabilities would adequately describe it, the man thought, in what was almost the same breath as before. In honesty, the man, both hands on the pockets of the black pair of pants in an evidently leisure manner, could make very little sense of what she was attempting to convey to the Ambassador, in the given context, at least, something Johann undoubtedly would need more of to truly understand the bigger picture being portrayed. Still, as she went on, Illya would stop suddenly, cutting off mid-sentence. Silence would not have a chance to take hold, though, for as soon as the girl had stopped, Johann sensed the attempt at mental intrusion, the bird-like creature turning its head into his direction.

While normally any attempt to reach Johann through these means were automatically thwarted by the Second Seal, the man allowed it to pass this time, reckoning that the two newcomers' intentions were anything but harmful. And so, sure enough, the voice would find his thoughts, echoing within his mind in a sensation the Ambassador was all-too-familiar with. Of course, the Ambassador assumed that this was the voice belonging to the magical creature, the tone certainly more stringent and collected than the girl's, though also evidently concerned. There was something else, though. A request? Joh's smile would dim slightly as he shook his head, not in denial, but in a manner that would be made more clear when he raised a hand, waving it dismissively. "Please, "Sir" won't be necessary", he spoke firmly, but not with unfriendly voice, the smile returning to his face. He disliked having to deal with this situation now, but it was what it was. He would treat the two as he would any other new arrival, an attitude that seemed like it was seldom found these days and would hopefully be reciprocated: Mutual respect.

"Allow me to start from the beginning, one thing after the other", he gave a nod to the bird before turning his attention to the girl. "If you would like to join the guild, Dies Irae, that is, you have arrived on Amber Island, where the guild is located, though you undoubtedly know this already", he explained briefly before pausing for just a second. He thought about how to continue, as normally, he would have taken a more relaxed approach at the girl's recruitment, though her directness and way to circumvent most casual conversation that normally would warm a person up made an easy-going introduction less applicable. Normally, he would've liked to discuss this over lunch and tea. Johann figured it would be best to simply present her with the facts that she seemed to seek in her own insistent manner. "I suppose you are lucky, in a sense. My name is Johann von Weiss, and I am one of the Ambassadors of Dies Irae. The guild masters, if you will", he stated, raising his right hand and presenting the guild mark located on the back thereof. "Now, Miss Pegasus, what you are requesting is entirely within the realm of the possible. Still, ...", he shifted his gaze from the girl to the bird-like creature at her side, "... if you or your companion have concerns about this guild, or require more information, I would like to ... clarify some of it, if you don't mind. The guild is built upon one principle, one goal, and that is conviction. If you are unsure about your ways or unsure about our ways, Miss Pegasus, and ...", the man stopped, realizing he didn't know how to address the other, deciding to settle on "... friend, then I must ask you to listen to my explanation first before making a decision of that order".

The Ambassador took a deep breath, the salty air and briney scent filling his nose and lungs once more, before sitting down, cross-leggedly anchoring himself in the dry sand below. "I apologize for this rather crude approach, but please, relax, if you wish, and sit with me. The same goes for your friend as well. The journey was probably long and tiring, so why don't we calm first. Tea?", he asked with a grin. It probably wasn't the best environment, but if he had to sacrifice what was essentially his break, he would do so in a way that he enjoyed, at least, waving a hand. With the faint glow of a runic magic circle before him, a teaset would appear seemingly from thin air right before the Ambassador, the man not hesitating to pour a cup of steaming liquid for himself, and, upon confirmation, for the girl and the creature as well. "Forgive my poor palette of selections, but all I can offer is Earl Grey at the moment. I did not expect to have tea with others. In any case", he began, setting the cup down after placing a simple, white teabag within to let it soak in the steaming water, "I would like to address these ... rumors, as you have put it. If you permit, I will explain what Dies Irae does, it's modus operandi, the way it functions, its goals". The man paused once more, this time for a few seconds as he took another deep breath, his focus on the explanation he was trying to form and how to best convey his ideals, the ideals of Dies Irae.

"Dies Irae is an organization that, in essence, seeks to make the world a better place", he started out simple. Of course, any given guild could say that for themselves. "We do this through the same means as any other legal guild, with one crucial exception, of course, which likely marks the origin of any rumor, any whispered word you have heard about our methods. Some people condemn these methods, and they have the right to do so, of course, but at the end of the day, we have adopted these methods that were sanctioned by the Magic Council of Fiore for one reason and one reason only: Because they are effective". The friendly smile had given way to a more professional, stoic look, the Ambassador's tone shifting to something that better suited the subject he addressed. "Dies Irae is a guild that will allow you to do what is necessary to save those who cannot save themselves, to help those that need it the most, to avenge those that have not the chance or the power to fight for themselves. Regardless of what you have or have not heard, if you forgive my presumptuousness, we are not savages". He didn't wish to ascribe intent to the new arrivals, of course, but Johann had heard what people said about the guild. The idealists that described them as too harsh, or those afraid of the unknown that feared they might be too volatile. "Our methods stem from the fact that Dies Irae is comprised of many of those men and women who have suffered under the very yoke that we fight. Dark mages, dark guilds, and criminals disregard the law. They show no mercy, they grow bolder by the day, and their numbers are ever-increasing. We have seen, have felt what the forces of darkness in this world are capable of, and we will stop them from bringing more harm to those that do not deserve it. Indeed, we decided to fight back against those that have hurt us so dearly. You will understand that this is a fight where sensibilities cannot be considered. It is a battle for order, a battle for justice. It is war".

The Ambassador reached forward, lifting the cup of before placing it at his mouth, taking a sip of the now lightly cream-colored substance. "While that might not dispell your doubt about what you have heard", he continued after a few seconds, holding the cup in his hands, "this is my point of view on the matter. None of us, as you have said, harbor much love for violence, but it is indeed a necessary thing to combat those who will not hesitate to use weakness against us", the silver-haired man stated in a matter-of-fact way, motivated by his beliefs. "If you, Miss Pegasus, and your friend, of course, care to tolerate this sentiment, perhaps even understand or share it, Dies Irae will provide you with everything you need and stand by your side, no matter the cause. It matters not if you possess magic, if you are strong, if you are weak, who you are, where you come from. If you work with your brothers and sisters in arms towards this goal, to uphold the balance, to serve those that need your help, to keep the darkness in check, you are welcome".

He sighed, realizing that now he had been the one to ramble on, undoubtedly boring the girl and her companion with information that they had quite possibly already known, already considered, the smile returning onto his face. "I apologize for the lengthy speech. Sounds like I made quite the fool of myself there", the cheerful tone would return in a similar fashion with an audible chuckle before he downed the rest of his tea, placing the cup upon the tablet before himself before sitting up. He'd gotten caught up in his own philosophy, his own will for righteousness, and had quite possibly made given a bad impression of not just himself, but the guild as well, seeking to at least address that particular mishap in a somewhat sheepish fashion. "Ah, I hope that you will give consideration to my words, at least. In any case, if you two have any questions about the guild or Amber Island, I would gladly answer them for you, if you are still interested in joining, of course".

To say that Illya was shocked by the man suddenly planting himself in the sand. It took her another few moments for her to event comprehend that he had summoned forth a tea set and offered it to her. Slightly disoriented, Illya took a seat as well. She looked up at Yemaya, calling the Aviaku down to herself. Yemaya nodded, her body slowly shrinking from her towering dragon-like size down to be as small as a cat, perching herself on the shoulders of the God Slayer. After her hasty and panicked introduction, now she herself waited for the man who had said he was one of the guild masters. Illya felt herself tense up slightly. It was a reflex to give greater attention to those of importance. Her bosses drilling into her brain the need to make a good impression on those who have impact on the world certainly was a key factor into that thought. Of course, she was not making the greatest first impression either. Illya lifted up her cup of tea to Yemaya, who sipped from it calmly as the duo listened to Mister Weiss's explanation of Dies Irae.

Since being made aware of her status as one that can, as the members of Fairy Tail put it, "eat sound," Illya had slowly begun to truly get a taste on how people talked. Aside from the slightest hint of the taste of tea and the salt of the sea, the taste of the man's matter-of-fact tone was astringent. It was noticeably different from the sweet tone his other words were outside of his explanation of Dies Irae, but it was genuine nonetheless.

He had finished his tea, leaving Illya in a state of contemplation at the man's words. She had been gripping tightly to the cup in her own hand as he spoke, the motivation clear in his voice. "So with Dies Irae, I can finally get rid of those scum? I had always thought that Fairy Tail would have that same motivation, as would the Rune Knights..." She had finally spoken, muttering to herself softly. Her grip managed to get even tighter yet, threatening to shatter the cup. "Apologies for if I rant a little bit about myself, Mister Weiss, but if destroying Dark Guilds is what Dies Irae is about..." She swiftly bowed her head. "Then please! Let me join! I apologize if it's selfish, but my mother was a Dark Guild wizard that did horrible things to me as a child, and I've always wanted to help out those that were in situations like I was as a child! I had heard so many things about Fairy Tail, and they didn't help me when I needed it, nor did the Rune Knights. Even if I don't have any experience in combat, or if I have to rely on Yemaya for everything, or if I'm only able to muster up the strength to do nothing more than scratch with a single nail, I want to destroy the Dark Guilds! I had always believed that the Rune Knights would be the ones trying to uphold justice, but if Dies Irae can do what's needed to be done, then please, if you would be so kind, take my assistance!"

Yemaya sighed. Lift up your head, child, and be calm.

Illya took a deep breath before lifting her head up once more to speak to Mister Weiss. "Ah, sorry about that. My bosses all used to say I can get pretty passionate at times." She scratched the back of Yemaya's neck a bit. "Anyways, I'm sure that I can help you out! Even if it's not in a combat sense, I've got experience in other jobs, plus the people of Magnolia always said I was good with music. Of course, this is all your choice, Mister Weiss." She beamed a bright smile at the Ambassador. "I just hope that I don't have to, like, turn in a resume or anything like that, because I forgot to pack any paper from..." Her voice trailed off for a moment, unable to finish her attempt at a joke.

Did I forget to pack anything?

You were in quite the hurry to make your way to this island.

So I forgot all my sheet music?

Yes. It's all still in Magnolia. You also forgot to tell your landlady that you were leaving Magnolia for this island.

Illya felt her face rapidly growing flush with embarrassment. She had completely forgotten about packing things from her home. Her extra clothes, her makeup, her sheet music, even her physical instruments. All of those stayed in her Magnolia home, along with her forgetting to even mention to anyone that she was leaving. She was so focused on leaving Fairy Tail, scrubbing out her guild mark that she bore on her ribs, that her house had completely slipped her mind.

I don't suppose you would be able to pick some of that stuff up?

I certainly would be able to.

Illya hesitated for a moment before returning to her telepathic connection with Yemaya. Are you going to?

It would be much too big a hassle, child. At full height, I would not be able to fit inside the house, and at this size I would not be able to carry much at all.

Illya turned her head away from the Ambassador in embarrassment at the conversation that could not be heard by any but the girl and her guardian.

The girl in front of him seemed as if she paid little mind to the face that Joh's explanation had gone a little further than what he had initially planned, Joh relieved that Illya seemed interested in joining still no less than before, even if she was still just as talkative. He couldn't fault her. He'd behaved much the same way, after all. "Well, Miss Pegasus ...", he began, the gentle, almost serene smile returning to his expression as he spoke, nodding towards the girl, "... the choice is not mine, it is yours. The guild will, of course, accept your assistance. With that, the Ambassador reached into one of the pockets of his coat, producing a vial that shimmered with the faintest of magical auras, a crimson liquid seeming to swirl gently within. "All that is left is receiving your guild mark, in that case. Now, where do you wish for your mark to be placed?". With those words, the man would solemnly uncork the small vial, a fluid motion of the hand beckoning the sanguine liquid out of its container as it, in a seemingly magical fashion, followed the Ambassador's command, floating through the air and hanging suspended above his open palm for a few moments until Illya would answer his question and show the desired location. Upon the girl's prompt, the magical substance would float towards it before gently embedding itself onto the skin, seemingly combining with the same as soon as the liquid touched it before shaping into a red cross that momentarily shimmered with its distinct sanguine hue before changing into her desired color. With nothing more than this, Illya would be an official part of Dies Irae.

"I'm sorry that I cannot give you a more ... ceremonious entry into the guild, but considering the circumstances, this is perhaps as ceremonious as it gets on this beach. In any case, I welcome you to Dies Irae, Neophyte", he spoke in a rather official tone, corking the now empty vial that would vanish in one of his pockets with a swift, practiced motion.

It, however, seemed also that Illya had one more thing on her mind, at least from what Johann could understand of the part of back and forth conversation between herself and her companion, Yemaya, as the girl had called the creature, the Ambassador not meaning to listen in on her personal matter, though being left with only little choice in regards to this. Well, now that he was here, he figured, he could just as well offer his assistance. "I don't mean to be intrusive, Miss Pegasus, but you're from Magnolia, as you have said, correct? If you wish to return for a bit to ... sort things out, I could transport us to and from Magnolia in a matter of seconds, should you desire my help in this endeavor of yours". Johann, waiting for an answer, raised his eyebrows. To be honest with himself, the man understood little of her situation, though, if he could at least help her out, he wouldn't mind doing so.

Illya's mind was dragged down from the clouds from the mention of the guild mark. She was ready to burst forth in anxious yelling once more, before the memories of Fairy Tail flooded in. Yemaya nuzzled her neck briefly, bringing Illya once more back into the fold. "Right! Guild mark! Most important part of being a guild member, right?" She laughed nervously to herself, still trying to snap herself out of her frantic, constantly starting and restarting mind. She quickly patted her hands against her cheeks twice. "Right! Guild mark! If it's fine getting the guild mark through clothes, then right on my ribs here. If not...um...can we wait a bit? I don't really think I'd be all too comfortable with, you know, a guy...and..." She shook her head once more to refocus. "And color, maybe? If it's fine with you, Mister Weiss, then can I get it in a pink shade? I know it probably sounds a bit cliche, but I just love pink a lot."

Almost as quickly as she had gotten there, she was now a member of Dies Irae. Her new title of "Neophyte" was strange to her, sounding much coarser than any other title she had had in the past. She had been used to the frills of cuteness and pretty-sounding words that something that held such a bitter, crunchy sound like this was odd. Nonetheless, she did not mind. Even with Mister Weiss's explanation of Dies Irae, Illya still held her apprehensions. As much as she wanted to strike down any dark guilds that would dare to even think of existing, she was unsure if she were capable of it. "Apologies if this is a bit of a strange question, Mister Weiss, but even if I can't do much in the way of combat work, would you still have me? I can work as a receptionist or a maid or...or something. Maybe I can work as an ambassador-" She cut herself off, realizing her choice of words. "I-I mean maybe I can go out and tell people what Dies Irae is all about, so you, er, we, don't have any misunderstandings like I've gotten. Not saying I won't try to stay out of combat or anything, just that I'm not exactly the best or most experienced or most willing in a fight, but I think if you need, like, someone to heal up companions or take more of a....um...what's the word for it? Well, I think I should just make it easy and just say less of a front-line role in a fight, but I still don't really have much experience and-"

    Breathe.

Illya stopped in her tracks. She seemed to have this tendency to get a bit motor-mouthed at times, and Yemaya being able to cease her in her ramblings was of use, lest Illya just keep talking forever.

Mister Weiss's offer to bring her to Magnolia was another point of note. "Thank you for the offer, Mister Weiss! But, I can't even think of having you bother with that. It sounds like you weren't exactly expecting a visitor, so that means that I bothered you enough already and I don't want to keep bothering you further because then that just leaves a really bad impression on me and on the guilds because then that means that it might seem like I'm just relying on others for help and then it just keeps going on and on and then rumors start swirling and then-" Yemaya said nothing, she merely made her presence known in Illya's mind. "Oh, sorry about that. But I thank you for the offer, Mister Weiss. I'll admit that I did kinda forget some of my stuff at my home in Magnolia, but...I can find some other time to pick it up. Just might be a bit awkward right now since a bunch of people know me in Magnolia because I worked in a bunch of places there for a while and I would perform concerts at their festivals for a really long time, and then I joined Fairy Tail, and even if I wasn't really well known in Magnolia, I'm really bad at sneaking around, especially if you ask Yemaya." She bounced on her feet a moment in realization. "Oh, shoot! I haven't introduced you to Yemaya! She's my guardian, of sorts. I think she already talked to you a bit, but she's been with me as long as I remember, so I suppose it might be best if you know her as well if I'm going to be a part of your guild, Mister Weiss, and-"

Illya kept rambling on about ultimately unimportant things, barely taking in any regard to the man in front of her. As adept as she was at listening from her service work, she much rather would prefer to chat with others, as she did now, only stopping when either the other person would interrupt or Yemaya would stop her with either a mental presence or a word to get her to stop. Even despite her apprehensions, Illya was still nonetheless excited to be a new member, a "Neophyte," as Mister Weiss called it, of Dies Irae.

"Very well, that should not be a problem", Johann responded simply, sending the magical mass of liquid ink over to her hand, or alternatively, any other bit of skin the girl was comfortable showing, where, as soon as it made contact with her, it would rush across her body to the desired location, changing to her desired color. Where exactly the mark had placed itself, according to Illya's will, Johann didn't quite know but discerned that it had to be somewhere on her torso, at the least. The location was of no matter, though. As long as she had the mark, she was part of the guild regardless of circumstance.

The Ambassador went on to listen to Illya's part of their dialogue, which admittedly bordered on monologue at this point, though nonetheless paying attention, lowering his gaze for a few moments in thought, his expression turning somewhat contemplative after the girl has stopped, his tone carrying a sense of raw, but well-meaning honesty. "Miss Pegasus, not I, nor anyone else in Dies Irae, can force you to fight if you don't desire to do so. There will come a time, however, where you will find yourself confronted with the need to do so. That is something I am certain of". He paused briefly. Considering their line of work, Johann knew that conflict was inevitable, especially given their general assortment of targets and contracts, but cases such as this one were not unheard of in Dies Irae. The guild existed, after all, not just to hunt dark mages, but also to encourage and assist their members on their quest to become their best possible selves and attain the strength some of them desired, needed, craved for, whether it was physical, mental, or spiritual. The Ambassador took a shallow breath coupled with a soft sigh. "When that day comes, Miss Pegasus, you, along with your comrades, must be certain that you can rely on your strength to do what has to be done. It's not wrong to rely on others, but others similarly must be able to rely on you. Dies Irae can help you to become stronger, to prepare yourself for that moment, but what you do is up to you. That freedom is, and will ultimately remain, yours entirely".

When Illya seemed to almost dismiss his offer Johann quickly relegated the matter to something of little importance, though accepting the introduction of her companion as "Yemaya" with a nod clearly aimed at the bird-like creature, a mix of both acknowledgment of the other and official greeting. That said, if it made her uncomfortable, the Ambassador would by no means insist on forcing his support on her. Instead, he simply stretched out his arm, a small portal, framed by spinning, runic scripture opening before him, reaching into it with his hand and pulling out a simple keychain that held nothing but a single key and a numbered plaque, with one swift motion, tossing the object for Illya to catch, barely listening to her ongoing chatter. Still, he turned, raising his voice as he shot a look back over his shoulder for one last time, smirking briefly.

"The East Wing of the guildhall is where you will find your new room when you're ready, Miss Pegasus. Welcome to Dies Irae". With those words, the man haphazardly raised his arm in a gesture of farewell. He'd figured everything that needed to be said had been said, and with Illya now being an official part of the guild, there was no reason she would need any supervision. The Ambassador, set in his ways as he was, had come out here to enjoy the ocean breeze, however, and enjoy he would, making his way in the opposite direction down the beach away from her for some much-needed silence.
