What's this? Another Flashvote? But we already voted for our featured mage.
Mhmm, yep, we did. And now I'll explain to you, why we're voting again.
It seems that I have very unfortunate news for the forum. You see during the last two votes, we decided that we would keep a track of all members vote totals, to ensure that people weren't abusing their alts to cheat the system and cast extra votes for their 'favourite' candidates. What we found is that some members used their alts to cast an additional vote on this poll, because of this, we then looked back at the previous poll and found this was done on that vote as well. All votes are supposed to be limited to one vote per person, as such this is seen to be cheating and as a result, the vote has been invalidated.
On behalf of the admin team, I will say that we are extremely disappointed with this behaviour. Not only is cheating in such a means completely unfair to the other nominees but a complete breach of trust. At the end of the day we're supposed to be a community and as admins, we wanted to believe that our members wouldn't try to abuse the system to work things in their favour. However this wasn't the case and as a result, all future votes held by staff, whether they are magazine features or major site decisions will be done by public comment based voting.
I'd like to apologise to everyone who didn't cheat for having to endure this, one of the nice things about the poll was you got to vote anonymously without worrying about upsetting those you didn't vote for. But because of your fellow member's decision to cheat on this matter, this seems the fairest way to go forth. So that no one can manipulate the voting system, staff nor non-staff member. In addition to this those who were caught cheating will be penalized for their behaviour and will not be permitted to partake in this vote. If anyone was informed that it was 'okay' to use multiple accounts please message us, as we will be thoroughly investigating all cases.
That being said, we can only try to move forward and hold a fair vote for the featured mage;
