Magic Name: Post Modern Magic; Indissoluble Arsenal
Magic Type: Holder (primary) / Requip (auxiliary)
Description:
Post Modern Magic; an application of Clarke's third law as a form of sufficiently analyzed magic pertaining to study, research, and exploitation of history and artifacts through semiotics, semantics and innovative practices. Arthur C. Clarke, renowned writer and scientist of the Neutral Zone, once wrote that all sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. On the coin's other side is the belief that intuition and lore alone are simply not enough. To properly understand the how and why of magic empirical evidence and expirimentation are necessary. Such an approach is termed sufficiently analyzed magic. Post Modern Magic puts a foot in each camp, attempting to use both sides of the coin, combining the scientific method of hard sciences with the fields of history, archeology and the studying of symbols and meanings.
From an early age Whisper has been fascinated by two things; arcane items of old and what makes magic tick. Pursuing an education in magical theory and engineering only covered half of those. So, in an attempt to satisfy both his passions, and pay for tuition, he spent his studying years also working for the institute's Archeological Research Department. Half of his time was devoted to studying and researching magic using the modern approach of the scientific method. The other half was spent on expeditions with the ARD. Exploring tombs, site excavations and the occasional, not-always so careful, expirimentation with whatever findings they both yielded. It was through one of these expiriments that he found the key to combining both of his passions. The Mask of Sovereigns, an item which innately provided its user with long lost knowledge. Whisper theorized that by applying the concepts of modern magical theory, available to him through his degree, to the mask's inherent powers he could not only bring his two passions together, but find the basis for a new magical system. Thus Post-Modern Magic came to being. A theory which fused today's analyzed magic theoris with the lore and intuition of yesterday. The above passage is the beginning of his thesis on his newely created magical system.
Indissoluble Arsenal is an example of Post-Modern Magic theory put to practice. It uses both ancient and modern knowledge to portray aspects of history. It puts a strong focus on history's aspects of war and combat, portrayed through the creation and enhancement of various weapons, items and armors.
Preferring fast, close quarters combat over largescale, exploding attacks, Whisper focuses on enhancing his speed and melee prowess. Majority of his spells are buffs, increasing his attack speed, movement and strikes. These are supported by a selection of few, melee requip weapons. While Indissoluble Arsenal does offer some mid-ranged options, long range fighting is an area it lacks in. Contrary to what one may think, as a lot of emphasis is put on speed, the longer the battle draws, the more Indissolubel Arsenal shines. The longer Whisper fights, the faster and deadlier he becomes.
Mobillity and illusion spells are occasionally used to support his fast, up-front fighting style. After all, a magic practicioner's best friends are misdirection and a drunk audience. Unfortunatelly you can't count on the later in the midst of battle.
Plot Abilities:
Like History, War Is Eternal: When one studies history it is more often to talk refer to peace, rather than war, in periods. From the dawn of civilization, people have engaged in warfare and strife. Sad as it may be the more civilization progresses, the more brutal and damaging wars become. This, addmitedly macabre, aspect of history is also portrayed in Whisper's magic. The longer he keeps on fighting, the faster he becomes. The longer he keep battling, the more damage his strikes deal. Needless to say this has no actual effect on his stats and only serves RP and plot purposes. It cannot be used with other roleplayers without express permission and has no effect whatsoever in PvP.
Annals of History: The Mask of Sovereigns is an extant connection to the past. By wearing it, Whisper gains access to the past in the form of knowledge. Commonplace or forgotten matters not. If it has existed, happned or occured the mask can grant it to him. This only covers information that can be regarded as history or historical, uncoverred or not, cannot be used for anything other than plot purposes and grants no ooc knowledge.
Connaissuer of Relics: Simillar to a historian or archeologist, Whisper can appraise and identify items of old. He can understand they heil from with a single glance. Understanding their usage and qualities, be they magical or mundane, takes but a few moments of interaction. Of course such an ability is only used for the sake of plot and roleplaying, without providing any ooc information. It can also not be used on items and personal effects of other roleplayers without permission.
Unique Abilities:
Rapid Strikes: Whisper's magic is designed to be fast and deadly. Through usage of complex arcane matrixes and lost knowledge both he is more agile, more dangerous. As a passive effect his speed and melee damage both increase by 25%, ranking up to S and capping at 45% each. In order to keep up with his movement Whisper's reflexes, perception, as well as hand-to-eye coordination are enhanced to levels beyond human. This only affects plot and cannot affect PvP, unless permmited. Additionally, to further extend how long he can stay in combat, his magic is designed to provide him with a 5% regneration of MP per post.
