Things had certainly gotten a lot more complicated. And a lot more worrisome. Akeya was now flying high above the seas, invisible as she usually was while tracking a trail which she wasn't even entirely sure was the correct trail. Not that she doubted her own tracking ability, but this kind of thing was difficult to do even for an expert.
The prologue of her current situation was that she'd invited Leila to enjoy the summer festivities together, yet somehow that get-together had gone horribly horribly wrong. In fact it'd gone a lot more wrong than she'd even pessimistically expected it to go wrong: she had been prepared for something like monsters or dark mages interrupting the festivities, or maybe just the two of them having an argument which dampened the mood of the entire event. What she hadn't expected was that the two of them would end up staring each other down as if trying to figure out the best way to stab the other without the favour being returned.
Of course Akeya wasn't completely oblivious about the fact that her own personality made it difficult for people to enjoy her company. It also wasn't something she particularly minded, although part of her motivation to invite Leila in the first place had been an attempt to make it easier for the both of them to interact with the other. While they'd built up something of a history of working together they hadn't made a lot of attempts to just hang out and get to know one another, once again because Akeya's social skills were somewhere on the level of a not too hungry shark.
Still, she couldn't help but feel like Leila's reaction to her disappearing for at most a dozen minutes had been a bit beyond what could be excused by the dragoness's own poor attitude. Although she was willing to be lenient on the suspicion that it wasn't entirely Leila's fault that she'd behaved like that. The wolf lady didn't have a habit of throwing around void as a weapon. Or suffering from acute and persistent memory loss.
All that aside, her current task was to figure out where Leila went, and figure out what the hell was going on. There were a bunch of motivations for this task, one of the foremost being that with how strong Leila was it wasn't a good idea to lose track of her when last seen she had a state of mind that couldn't exactly be called stable. Another one was that since Akeya had been trying to create maybe a little bit more familiarity with one another it stood to reason that she also had to show some amount of concern for Leila herself.
The problem she was facing was that a goddess wasn't exactly easy to find if she didn't want to be found. The dragoness had been flying for hours already, and given how fast she could travel if she felt like it that was saying something. Even invisible her emerald eyes were still the origin of a gaze so fierce that any creature subjected to it might almost feel said gaze like a physical force bearing down upon them. Having made herself intangible she wasn't disturbing the flow of the air either, so for most purposes she herself was as hidden as one could be while she was trying to find her partner in jobs.
The trail she was following was the trail of Leila's mana. While the silver-haired goddess had been throwing about some kind of void ability during her bout of fury she still had mana inside of her, although mana contained inside a being was a lot harder to track than external mana (such as from the usage of spells). If it wasn't for her having honed her skills and being finely attuned to the flow of mana as a dragon Akeya was pretty sure she would have lost the trail hours ago, after which she'd have no method left for figuring out where Leila went other than asking around whether anyone had seen a silver-haired wolf girl, possibly consuming parts of the area with large blobs of void.
As it was she was wondering how long she'd be up here following a trail which felt as thin as the single strand of fur from a rodent when she finally spotted something other than endless ocean in the distance: land. More specifically, an island. And now that it was close enough that she could see it from her airborne position she could also feel a strong presence from it... or more like an aura? She squinted as she glared harder at it, trying to figure out what that island was all about. She was approaching quickly so it didn't take much longer before she could see figures flying about above the landmass. Not a lot of them, but on the other hand they were also a lot bigger than average.
The assassin dragoness wondered what kind of place Leila had decided to recuperate in as she changed her course so she could begin trailing large circles above the island. She'd land soon, but first she wanted to do a couple of scouting runs to see if she could find something that she'd rather not first discover up close.
