    "Following the stream"

While wandering throughout the forest he had come to know quite well by now, Solmar had all of his senses on high alert at all times, even though his rather careless posture seemed to indicate otherwise. After being imbued with a foreign magic he still knew very little about, his sense of smell had been increased to the point where he could smell it whenever some unwashed beast would come skulking out of their den, looking for something to eat. At the same time, his hearing had been heightened to where he could now hear the creaking of twigs and leaves on the forest floor, or something moving in the trees above him. If nothing else, the strange magic had been a gift that kept on giving as it was perhaps the non-magical portions of it that had brought him the greatest benefits of all. After all, he was a traveler who did not venture into the human dwellings all that often, and for good reason.

Having already been there quite recently to gather up some supplies that he could not get anywhere in the wilderness, he wouldn't need to return there for at least a week or so. With what he had in his duffle bag, he had everything he needed to catch fish in the stream, set up some traps for bigger game and to make his outdoor living a bit more luxurious. With some small bottles containing spices as simple as rock salt, black pepper, chives, coriander and red pepper, he had the means to make even the most bland of food such as deer taste good. Continuing to wander further into the forest, he listened to the birds as they sang their songs, he entered a portion of the forest that was so incredibly pink that it almost gave him a stroke. What with the trees themselves owning pink leaves and the forest floor beneath it being covered with them for the largest part, the only things standing out were the stalks of grass sticking out from under them and the stream passing by it.

"Are we gonna catch some icky-slickeys?"

When a high-pitched voice started coming from under Solmar's coat, he watched as something was rooting around in the sleeve of his oversized fur coat. Since the coat primarily acted as a blanket for him, it had become something his cat Fellis had started using as a mobile home, often using one of the sleeves to sleep in and storing his belongings inside of Solmar's pockets. When it had finished rooting around and made its way out, a white furry head came sticking out right next to Solmar's own. Crawling out and sitting down inside of the hood, Fellis had front-row seats to everything going on behind Solmar. So when it saw how lively the stream was with small fish, it had to bring it up.

"Maybe later, the fish here don't seem big enough to even work out as proper bait. We might be able to find some larger ones up-stream though."

"Ah. Well when we do, I'll be sure to catch one this time."

Grinning a bit at the notion of Fellis actually catching a fish instead of just reaching for one, falling in and scaring quite literally every living thing within a few kilometer radius with his cowardly screams, the young man figured that he should at some point sit down in order to make the cat his own make-shift fishing rod from some leftover lines and a sturdy twig. While it seemed unlikely that he'd ever catch something worthwhile, it would at the very least keep the little guy out of the water, thus making his job of providing for the both of them a whole lot easier. With that thought in mind, the two kept trekking onward, following the stream and hoping to find a good spot where they could sit down and catch something decent.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

It had been a while since Ada had taken a break. After she had dealt with things for the company. She decided to take a vacation for a little bit, and let Tammy choose where they were going. The little purple exceed was dressed in on of the local clothings while Adalinda was waltzing around in a white tank top and black pants and some boots. The exceed had felt she needed to be fashionable regardless of where she was at. It was a wonder some days to the slayer how she and her cat could even work together with this exceed being a bubbly little thing, while Ada was the type to punch a tree down if she could. She had her black hair up in a high ponytail, and takes a deep breath as she walked with the flying cat. Tamaria had decided that she wanted to see some cherry blossom trees, and figured what better way to see some, than to go to Sakuramori? Ada didn’t quite care for the pink trees, they weren’t her style. That wasn’t including her lack of love for plants. She shuttered a bit as she runs her hands through her hair and shook her head. She could do without plants… especially if they were able to move about… There was probably none here, but Ada kept her wits about her as she didn’t want to have to deal with some coming out and surprising her. The two weren’t concerned about getting lost in the woods. If anything, Ada’s nose could get them out, and both of them could fly, but more Tammy on command than Ada could. Ada would probably destroy the forest on accident if she were the one to start the flying though.

“Hey Ada! What do you think of the trees?!” The purple exceed exclaimed as she looked back over her shoulder to her slayer. Ada just snorts as she rolled her eyes. “You know full well what I think of them.” She tells the cat as she put her arms behind her head. With her wearing a tank top, her guild tattoo was visible for all to see on her right shoulder blade. Tammy had chuckled to Ada as she knew the high disdain for plants. The only plants she cared for, were the ones that made alcohol for her. Everything else was moot. “Look Ada! A river!” She calls out while skipping towards the river. Ada’s ice blue eyes followed the cat rather calmly as she was trying to figure out what the purpose of coming here was. “What would you want with a river? It’s just water. Don’t cats hate water?” Ada snickers as Tammy stopped her skipping and looked over her shoulder to the black haired girl. Tammy had turned to look at her, and put her paws on her hips. “Ada! Will you stop that? Nature is beautiful! Despite you being a sour puss and hating it. Just enjoy the fresh air for once! Relax!”

The black haired mage takes a deep breath and stops her own walking. She looks to her exceed, before she just shakes her head and grabs a horned flask from her hip, taking a rather large swig of it. “Tammy, you know full well relaxing isn’t in my books. Even on vacation. It would be the death of me. I’d rather not risk it.” She caps the flask again, and put it back on her hip as Tammy takes a deep breath. Adalinda usually was like this. Always on edge, but she slightly understood, especially with Veles in her head too. She had gone through a lot in her life, but she also had overcome a lot too. Despite her hardships, she wished Ada would still could relax, if anything, at least a little bit. As they had walked, Ada stated to hear someone’s voice not too far from where she and Tammy were. “Careful… there’s someone up ahead…” She says, though it was more than just ‘up ahead’ as her senses were hiked up. Tammy freezes a bit after she hears her say that, and quickly lets her wings pop out and flies up above a bit. “It looks to be someone fishing. No danger.” Ada just grunted to the exceed, but she didn’t believe so. Looks could be deceiving.

Moving through the forest and just following the stream, the sound of water gently rushing down from the frozen tops of the Phoenix mountains, passing through Sakuramori and heading out to the open ocean near the town of Cedar, he wondered why the forest had been so quiet lately. Normally, when he moved around on his own, most of the animals just went about doing their own thing, having recognized his scent as something that had more or less become part of the furniture around these parts, if one could accurately call it that. While this could mean a bunch of things, the fact that he had encountered another mage in these parts quite recently meant that there just might be more wandering about. After all, the forest was big, really big, though this particular stream was just about the only one that was wide enough to sustain life for fish, who could swim against the stream from the larger lakes up north or came in from the eastern waters. Some even made their way in from the ocean in order to lay their eggs and die in the waters nearby, making the place a feast for bears and other predators turned scavenger out of sheer laziness.

When his ears picked up on voices in the distance, he signed at Fellis to get back into the hood of his coat, thus making sure the flying feline was tucked away safely within his reach. If anyone tried anything, at least he would be able to defend the both of them at the same time. For what it was worth, his senses were quite well developed, especially by human standards, allowing him to either sniff out or hear things most people would not pick up on until much later. That, and he could sense magic, even though he had not really managed to develop his magical senses… or magical skills all that much for that matter. Waiting at the stream as the footsteps got closer, he heard one set of footsteps stopping while the other got closer, though he also heard something else that came closer to… soaring. Knowing the sound all too well as Fellis managed to make it all the time when he was floating about, he wondered what kind of flying creature was accompanying this person. As time progressed ever so slowly, a woman seemingly around his own age entered into his line of sight, accompanied by what could only be another Exceed such as Fellis.

"Fellis, you might want to take a look at this."

As soon as he uttered these words, the white furred feline looked out of the hood hanging loosely from Solmar's back, peeking over his shoulder in order to get a good look at what Solmar was refering to. Narrowing his eyes, it locked in on the other exceed as if trying to figure out whether he had seen this one before or not. While it did so, Solmar turned his attention to the woman who was being accompanied by the other feline, sensing that she was at the very least a powerful mage in her own right. While his senses were probably not that sharp when it came to the sensing of magical sources, especially when their origin was other people, he could tell by the way she carried herself that she was not afraid of roaming these woods. Knowing full well what one might encounter in this place as he had been out discovering just about every single nook and cranny in the place, that meant that the woman was more than capable of taking care of herself and her flying companion.

"You, you smell different from most of the people who wander through here. There's a sense of familiarity about it, though it feels entirely foreign at the same time.. Might I ask who you are, and what you're here for?"

"I'm not sure who these people are big bro, I don't recognize 'em."

Listening as Fellis spoke softly to him, it at least settled the matter at hand by proving that these exceed had never seen one another before, just like how Solmar had never seen this woman before either.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

The black haired slayer started to walk cautiously in the direction of the person. There was no telling what crazy would be out here. It wasn’t too terribly long till she was able to actually tell that there was a guy up ahead. “Stay close Tammy…” She says in a stern voice before she put her hands behind her head and grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her elbows past her face as she walked on. She heard the man up ahead talk to someone, and then noticed the little white exceed poking their head out. Tammy squealed excitedly as she noticed them, being up a bit further than Adalinda still as she didn’t want to listen to her slayer too much. “Another Exceeeeeeeed~!” The purple one shrieked out in an all too happy tone of voice.

Ada keeps a calm expression on her face as she walks on a bit. When she got close enough, he seemed to address her a bit. A smirk came across her lips as she shrugged her shoulders to him. “Slayers tend to have a slightly similar scent to them, but they’re still distinct in their own right.” She was copying Veles’ words, passing it off as her being smarter than she really was. Ada walked right up to the man, standing her whole five foot, five inch height, she looked up to him and snickered. “Have you not met another slayer before? Dragon? Demon? God?” She chuckles and holds her fist out to him for a fist bump. She was prepared though, for this guy to attack her for her going right up to him. Like she told Tamaria before, she was always on guard. Her ice blue eyes were steady as she looked at the man.

Regardless if he returned her fistbump or not, Ada lowered her arm a moment later, and put her hand on her hip. “I’m Adalinda Ortinbras. A Vice President over at the West Fiore Trading Company. The squealing purple exceed is Tamaria, my copartner I suppose you can say some days. I’m just traveling for a little vacation, and this is where the brat cat chose. What about you two? Who are you guys? And what brings you here?” She had pointed over her right shoulder to where her guild tattoo was, and slightly turned her arm for him to peek at the symbol when she mentioned her guild. When she mentioned Tammy, she pointed over to her. She crossed her arms over her chest as she stands there.

‘You talk too much.’ Veles complains to his host as she stands there. She ignores him though as she looks over to the purple exceed landing and seeming to be bouncing up and down on the ground next to her. “How many exceeds have I met by now, Ada?!” Tammy questions as she snorts and shrugs her shoulders. “Hell if I know! Fourth? Sixth?” She shrugged her shoulders as she shook her head. She didn’t keep track of how many friends the cat made. It wasn’t her job to do so. Hell… she didn’t know how many friends she really had, or people who considered her a friend either, not including her husband. Ada shakes her head at that thought, and snorts to herself as she looks around. She was sick and tired of these plants. They were the bane of her existence by this point. And standing here in this forest… frankly wasn’t helping her case.

The way this woman made it sound, those possessing slayer types of magic possessed a scent that deviated from that of the average mage, which wasn't something he had ever really heard of before. He had also not been all that aware of how people went about naming things like magics and spells, for if he had been spoken to about "slayers" a week or two earlier, he wouldn't have had a single clue as to what the woman had been talking about. Now though, he was at the very least aware of the fact that the magic he had been granted when he absorbed the essence of a dead god was called "Demon Slaying Magic" of the fire element. Wondering if that made him smell different from the other people who possessed a type of slayer magic, he felt it odd that this woman knew so much about the subject. But it wasn't until she brought up whether or not he had ever met other slayers before, also bringing up different types of slayers such as Dragon and God slayers. Truth be told, he had no idea what a dragon was, though he knew that his powers had been given to him by a half god's remnants.

"Uhm.. no.. I don't think I have. I don't meet a whole lot of people out here, and those that do come out here are often not here to talk."

That much true, though it might have sounded worse than intended. Most of the people he encountered were hunters, poachers, loggers and in some cases bandits, though he did not care a whole lot for any of them. Most of them left him alone as they did not venture far enough into the woodlands to actually get to where he was, though he had encountered a few bandits that had made their way over to his den as they believed it might have been a good place to stash some stolen money. That had been a good day for him as they had funded quite a few supply runs for him with the money he had taken off of them. Looking on as the two cats were getting better acquainted, he watched as the woman extended her fist at him. For a moment, he wondered if maybe she was challenging him to something, but when she started introducing herself to him Adalinda Ortinbras, followed by a whole mass of words he did not understand the meaning of, he'd attempt to grab hold of her fist and shake it awkwardly.

"I don't know what most of those things mean, but my name's Solmar, that's Fellis, and we live… well, here. We've been living out here for quite some time now, at least a few years since Fellis likes it here and there is plenty of wild game around. We fought a bear that owned a den further back along the stream and won, so it's ours now."

    "I'm Fellis!"

Once he let go of her hand and looked back at the bear den that was a decent walk away from where they were standing now. With the cat screaming for attention, Solmar reached into his pocket and tossed it a piece of jerky for it to nibble on. Thinking about some of the words Adalinda had spoken of as if it were a really big deal, it made him wonder what all of it meant. He knew that Fiore was the land that they found themselves in, as well as it being the western portion of it, though he had no idea vice or a president was, or what an exceed was, even though she pointed at her cat when she used that word. Usually refering to his own cat as either a cat or a flying feline, he figured that Fellis must've been an exceed too if he was to believe what the woman said. More importantly, something he had more or less forgotten to ask about was whether she was also some kind of slayer just like him. Feeling like he had missed his opportunity to do so when they more or less continued with their conversation and went straight towards the introductions, he figured that he could try asking about it later, or just leave it for what it was as it wasn't really that big of a deal anyway.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

After hearing that this guy didn’t meet a lot of people out in the Sakuramori, Adalinda put her hands on her hips. She wasn’t sure what one would like about the forest to actually live there… but she guessed that it was to some people's liking. Hell if she would like it though. The forest would probably of been leveled otherwise. When her fist was grabbed instead of it being bumped with another fist, Ada raised an eyebrow to him. Her eyebrow rose even more when he started to shake it. “You don’t know about a ‘fist bump’ do you?” She honestly couldn’t help question. When her hand was let go, she did a slight fist bump to herself with her own fist to kind of show how it was to go. She takes a deep breath and thinks for a moment ‘Idiot, just tell him you’re a second in command of a business or something. Clearly he’s not a bright bulb for a slayer.’ Veles growls to the dragon slayer, who clenched her jaw for a moment. “Most of it means I hold a position of power kinda where I work at. Nothing too important really. But it's nice to meet you Solmar.”

Tammy was excited as she looked to the other exceed. “Hi Fellis~! I’m Tamaria! You can call me Tammy though! Either is fine with me!” She waves eagerly to the other exceed, smiling happily. The purple exceed was more than happy for dragging her slayer here now. If not, she wouldn’t have met this other exceed. “You like it here too?! I find the trees to be pretty! Too bad I can’t stay here forever, Ada here hates plants with a passion.” The cat pouts as Ada has a look of irritation on her face as she glares to the feline. “And you know full well why… Tamaria…” Ada rarely used Tammy’s name, but the purple exceed didn’t seem to care as she stuck out her tongue to her. ‘Maybe you should try seeing what all he knows…?’ ‘Shush it. He may be on guard and just doesn’t want us bothering him.’ ‘Kind of impossible when the cat there wants to make friends.’ Adalinda sees that Tammy had taken a couple steps forward.

Ada leans forward a bit and couldn’t help but give a grin as she looked to the male. “Say, what kind of slayer are you? I’m not sure I’m familiar with your scent fully… Were you raised by a dragon?” “Oh! Ada! Ada! Show him your scales!” Tammy got excited as she grabbed onto Ada’s leg for a moment, then rolls her eyes. “As per request of the exceed…” She mutters in a monotone voice. Her skin instantly turned grey and scaly. She crossed her arms over her chest as she snickers softly to herself. This was actually an armor of sorts on her, and she liked showing it off and using it constantly. “I’m an Iron Dragon Slayer, both was raised by my foster father with it, and have a lacrima.” She pats her stomach as she gives a toothy grin, feeling proud of herself for this feat. ‘Dumbass… you just asked him what he was… now you’re showing off?’ Veles was mentally shaking his head at his host, but she was attempting to ignore him. She actually thought this might be a way for the other party to show off their powers to her as well.

Paying close attention in order to figure out what the woman was doing, it seemed that what she had planned was for the two of them to do a gesture similar to a handshake, but still quite different. As it turned out, he was supposed to bump his own fist against hers. Had he known that this was how people did things now, he would have done so, though he decided not to really dwell on it for too long. Just looking at his own fist for a little while as he listened to what words were being thrown around, she explained that she was a person holding a position of power where she worked. Knowing what work meant, he remembered how his mother had been a hunter, a butcher and a seller of pelts. His father had been rather knowledgeable on plant life and sold enchanted lures to fishermen to help them catch more fish. Though the lures were relatively cheap and the fish brought in could be sold for quite a handful of jewels, Solmar didn't think his parents cared much for it.

Though he remembered how his mother sold her pelts for quite a bit, she never really sold her meat for a whole lot of money, figuring she might end up with some of it which would just be left to rot. And since rotten meat made no money and couldn't be eaten, she reasoned low prices would be better. While his parents did at times argue about the price of his father's lures and how they should be sold for more, or be made less potent, the case was always made that the people of the town should be able to look after their own families just like they did. But that was how Solmar remembered his parents, as kind people. Unfortunately, that was exactly all that he remembered about them, as much had gone lost over the last eleven years. Thanks to the memories he did still have, at the very least he knew what the woman meant now. Nodding as if to prove that he understood now, it seemed the two cats had also started up a conversation.

"I like it here a lot lot, Sol does too. There are a lot of beasties to eat, stuff to play with and not a lot of people. That's why Sol also likes it here."

While it sounded odd coming from the flying feline, he was quite correct. There were plenty of deer around here to eat, especially since a member of a wildlife preservation society had come to him and asked him to trim down the amount of deer and keep count so as to make sure they didn't eat all of their natural food. As that would cause a great deal of them to starve, which would in turn have affected the entire ecosystem of the woodlands, Solmar had decided to oblige, killing only as much as he could eat. Aside from that, there were not a lot of people in Sakuramori either. When Adalinda started asking him as to what kind of slayer he was, the conversation took a turn when her cat asked her to show her scales, which she did. Looking at the strange appearance with narrowed eyes, he could honestly say that he had never seen such a thing before, nor did he know what it meant or what a dragon was, or what a lacrima was for that matter.

"Uhm, I'm not really sure what a dragon or a lacrima is, but the magic I got was called demon slaying magic. A few months ago, I came across a place where this white flame was sitting in an old building. On the walls, it said that it was all that remained of a being that wielded a flaming sword and killed demons with it. When I touched it, I got this mark on my arm, and now I can do.. well, this."

Rolling up his sleeve to show a black tattoo on his lower right arm, he held up his hand and spread his fingers a bit as a white flame formed in the palm of his hand. Since this was one of the only things he could do here without running the risk of setting the surrounding plant life on fire, he dimmed it down until the flame disappeared again. For him, witnessing white flames had always been quite odd, though he imagined someone from the city might have already seen something like it before.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

Ada couldn't help but snicker as this guy looked at his hand after she demonstrated fist bumping to him. When she explained about her job in simpler terms, he seemed to nod in understanding. If he really did or not, that was another story to her really. Then the exceed spoke up again. She raised an eyebrow to the cat saying that both he and his slayer liked it there in the forest. Something like that still boggled her mind, that people like living in forests around plants and the like. But, him not including the plants in his explanation of why they liked it, made it seem a little better than it looked at least.

After Adalinda used her magic to show her dragon scales, she couldn’t wipe the smirk off of her face. Her scales were her pride and joy, basically. It defined part of who she was, and showed elegantly in her opinion. At the mention of not knowing what a dragon was, the iron dragon slayers jaw dropped. “Really?! You hadn’t heard of giant lizards that fly in the sky before?! Were you living under a ro-” She stopped as she glanced back towards where he said the den he had been living in was. It probably was a rock. She scratched her head a little and clears her throat before she began talking in a slightly more level tone of voice. “But yeah… dragons are giant lizards that can fly in the sky. They’re quite majestic. And lacrimas… they’re… crystals that have magic powers inside of them. They power a lot of things... like lights and some technology or whatever. Some lacrima even have slayer powers in them. Similar to what we got, but it’s not exactly the power.” While she was trying to pass off as being knowledgeable about this stuff, she was more being fed the information by Veles.

She quickly stopped the speil so she could look at Solmars tattoo and nods. Demon slayer… She taps her chin a bit as she wondered if Veles knew any demons. ‘No dimwit… I know dragons… demons are another altogether.’ The dragon hissed at his host in her mind. She shook her head and chuckles as she lightly punched his shoulder. “So you’re a fire demon slayer. Pretty gnarly dude! Means you have the power to slay demons with some hot ass fire.” She chuckles and releases her scales to show she didn’t mean harm. “I never seen white flames before though, bet it’s actually pretty hot.”

Tammy looks to Ada, then to Fellis. A grin starts to form on the exceeds face as she skipped over to her dragon slayer. “Hey Aaaadaaa?” The purple cat was holding her paws behind her back as she made her eyes big up to her. Ada raised an eyebrow as she glared down to the cat. “Can we go fishing here for a little bit with them? I’m hungry for some fish.” She muses happily to her. Ada takes a deep breath as she pinched the bridge of her nose. “Tammy… chill. You should ask Solmar and Fellis if they’d like company anyways.” Ada huffed as she actually didn’t want to impose too much like that. She wasn’t a fisher anyways. But it seemed her little purple cat wanted to play with her newly claimed friend, and hang out with him for a while.

Tammy quickly spun around to the other two and her purple eyes were wide as she held her paws up in little fists by her chin with her tail seeming to wag excitedly. “May we?! May we?! May we join you in fishing? Please?!” She excitedly cries to them. Clearly her expression was hoping for a ‘yes’ out of them and wanted to witness it near immediately. Ada takes a deep breath and rubs her temple a bit, shaking her head. She was too hyper some days for her…

Trying to picture large flying lizards, he did not really see what all the fuss was about. In fact, they sounded no more interesting than your average bat or chameleon. Since bats were the only mammals that were capable of flying and chameleons were lizards that could change colors to mask themselves among their surroundings, a lizard capable of flight did not seem like it was all that interesting. Still, he just nodded at her as he at least understood how some people found it to be really interesting, just like how he liked looking at wolves and other woodland creatures. Lacrima on the other hand sounded more interesting, even though he was having trouble picturing it in his head. While he had seen crystals before in a cavern to the far east, he had never seen any magical crystals before. Finding it odd that these crystals contained magic and were somehow used to power things, it made him wonder how people had figured out how to do that kind of thing. Personally, he would likely have never figured something like that out, nor did he really need to.

"Dragons sound strange, but so do these crystals. I think it's pretty strange that slayer powers could be stored inside of a stone, because it feels like that would make the stone melt or explode in my case. I'm actually having a bit of trouble controlling it once I really start using my magic, which is why I don’t really like using it. I don't want to burn down the forest and hurt the animals.."

Being rather honest about his magic and why he personally did not really like it, he had grown to hate more portions about it than just the fact that he could not handle the intensity of the fire itself. He also hated how he had gotten this particular magic and scoured the earth for it so he could get rid of the demon inside of him, though it had refused to do so once he attained it. Instead, all it would let him do was to use it against other kinds of demons or dead things, instead of being able to cure himself of the demonic influence coming from within. In that sense, it was rather ironic how he had gained his magic and could only help others with it, but not himself. Continuing to ponder on it, Fellis wandered over to him and hugged his leg, which pulled him out of the gloomy feelings that were building up for a moment. Once he did, he heard how the other Exceed that was not his started talking about how she apparently wanted to come with them if they went fishing. From what he could see, it seemed like the dragon slayer did not really know if she wanted to come along, or rather, if Solmar would like having them tag along.

"Uhm.. sure, I guess that's fine. But do you have a pole for fishing?"

Though he did not see anything, he figured he could at least ask if they had any fishing tools on them. Not knowing what these modern folk had up their sleeves, he figured it was quite possible they had a pole on them, but that he couldn't see it. After all, they could store magic inside of stones and use it to do all kinds of stuff, so it wasn't that much of a farfetched idea, or so he thought. That said, his own pole was just a sturdy twig with a piece of line attached to it, a bent steel needle for a hook and a small piece of tinder he used to tell whether he had actually hooked a fish. If the piece of tinder went under, he would know something was tugging at the line since the tinder would not sink on its own, a fairly clever invention if he did say so himself. Since he always packed extra line in his pocket and had plenty of tinder on him for making fire to cook his fish over, he had all the means to make an extra fishing pole easily enough. When he caught a big and strong fish, there was always the chance that it pulled part of the string off and made it out with the hook still in its mouth, which was why Solmar always came prepared when fishing.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

As the other mentioned that both Dragons and lacrima crystals sounded strange, the black haired girl paused for a moment. She supposed it did sound strange to someone who has never experienced them before. She slowly nods as she shrugs her shoulders and smirked. “Well, I guess it depends on how one is able to wield magic that they are able to store them in the crystals. Probably special skill too…” She shrugs her shoulders again. At the mention of him having trouble controlling his magic, she purses her lips. “Why not try to go to a grassy field or something to try controlling your magic. Will it to stay a certain distance from you. Train yourself.” That was something Adalinda could tell him on her own. She made a fist with her hand. “Practice can be probably the best thing you can do. I could help ya if you want!” She chuckles and puts her fists on her hips. “Don’t have to say yes, though.” She chortles before Tammy got all excited.

Tamaria seemed rather delighted that Solmar had given her and Ada the ‘Okay’ to go and fish with him. A snort came from Ada though when he asked if they had a pole for fishing. “Pshhh!” Tammy giggles as she shakes her head. “We can catch it with our hands! Much more exciting than a pole!” Ada stuck her nose up as she chuckles. This would be fun. Yeah, she could make spears and hunt for fish that way, Adalinda liked the challenge of using her hands sometimes.

The duo had walked over to the nearby river bank and Ada peered over the water. “Tammy, do me a favor and check over the water for other fish?” The dragon slayer chuckles. Tammy quickly nods as she snaps her wings out and jumps up off the ground while fluttering her wings. She makes her way over towards the center of the river and started flying low to the water to see if she could find some fish. Adalinda made sure her hair was tied up tight in it’s ponytail she had it in, and peeled off her shoes to step in at the edge of the water. She didn’t mind getting dirty or wet. That was the fun of things. Besides! She was on vacation! Doing these things is what made living fun! And she was here to have fun on her vacation. “There’s some fish over here Ada!” The purple exceed calls out quietly, knowing her slayer would be able to hear her. Adalinda smirked as she nods and makes her way over towards where Tammy was slowly. She knew if she went fast, she’d scare the fish off, so she had to go slow.

The iron dragon slayer peers in the water as she walked, seeing what all she could see in the water while making her way over to the cat. “You sure?” “Yeah! Come on!” Adalinda snorts to the cat and nods as she makes her way closer. Sure enough, by the time she was under the exceed, she had spotted the school of fish and was ready to go and snatch one. "Slow down, Ada." Tammy whispered to the slayer. Ada's ice blue eyes turn towards the exceed and she sticks her tongue out at her a bit. She knew better. This actually wasn't the slayers first rodeo with fishing with her bare hands. She actually had done it when she was younger, just after her adopted father left her. She had to fend for herself. To survive, she had to do what she had to do. Luckily that didn't result in her doing anything she would regret later.

Ada seemed to slow her breathing down as she lowered herself into the water more, eyes following one of the many fish swimming around her. This would be a yummy meal if she caught it. Tammy flew a little higher so she wouldn't seem like she was going after the fish while ada was readying herself to grab one. Her hands were slowly moving in the water. Her eyes peered at her hands for a moment as she spies a few little fish swimming around her hand. Snacks. That's what those were. They weren't worth her time as the bigger fish were. Her hands slowly moved forward to the one she was targeting, trying to not alarm it. Most people don't take the time like she was to actually get near all the way in the water to catch a fish. She's seen people just standing on the bank and swiping their hand to grab a fish. That was both luck, and a rare grab the majority of the time as one could actually miss or not have a good grip on the fish and lose it. Ada had perfected the art of fishing like how she was. She could technically do it with her eyes closed. But if she did that, then she wouldn’t be catching her meal.

It took her a moment, but her slow going had actually worked. She grabbed hold of the fish she was going for with both hands and yanked it out of the water fast as she laughs out loud about her victory. “Haha! Beat that! I got it!” She laughs to Tamaria who seemed like she was pleased with her slayers catch. "It's not the biggest I've caught, but it's still a decent meal!" She cackles as she holds the fish up for Tammy to grab hold of. She would repeat the process a few more times to have a some more fish to munch on, and when she was happy with her catches, she made her way towards the river bank once again. A grin was on her face while she held the fish out to Solmar. “Why not give them a little heat, hm?” She chuckles as she raised an eyebrow. She then heard something a bit, and glanced away from Solmar to see what was going on. ‘Brat, I sense something over there akin to a dragon… I don’t give a damn about your date, investigate it for me.’ Veles hissed at her and Ada frowns. “Hey… I hope we meet again, but apparently there’s something I need to investigate.” She tells the two guys before she passes the fish onto them and motions for Tammy to follow her. If this was a lead for Metallicana, like hell would she miss it.

The way he saw it, he could have gone to some place that wouldn't burn easily, a place like the Phoenix mountains where there was a lot of rock and soil, and not a whole lot of green stuff that disliked being touched by fire. That, and there weren't nearly as many animals there as there were in this particular forest. Truth be told, part of that was the reason why he settled here, because he disliked being alone almost as much as he liked having to be around a lot of humans. As such, he had come to a place where he always felt like he was surrounded by life, by animals and even a monster here and there. It was really odd to him that this woman did not like nature the way he did, but was still out here with her flying cat for some reason. Solmar really only made his way over to a human settlement when he really needed to get something that nature could not provide for him, which was rarely ever the case. That said, since he had done a job or two to help out some people and got paid for it, he had been purchasing some things he wanted to have, but really did not need. While often being things like spices, he just felt like things like that enriched his meals a bit and made them more fancy.

Pondering on the matter for a moment longer before it seemed that the two were about to start catching fish with their bare hands instead of a pole, he figured them doing so would likely not work out that well for him, but would let it slide for the time being. Watching as the two were actively scouting for a big enough fish to aim for, he did so while taking into consideration the fact that it might be a great help to him to have someone to train with. Given the magical prowess he possessed right now and how it was barely enough to keep him alive at times, he could only hope that he would be able to get himself to where he needed to be. If nothing else, he owed it to his parents to become the best version of himself that he could be. When a loud splash broke his train of thought, it seemed that the dragon slayer had already pulled out a fish with her hands, just like she said she would. Finding it quite the nice thought that she was not all talk and would actually make an attempt at remaining true to her word made her unlike most of the humans he had met up until this point in time. Figuring now would be as good a time as any to let her know that a training session or two sounded like a good idea, he was handed a fish and got told that she had to go somewhere as something seemingly spooked her.

"Oh, I see. Well best of luck to the both of you I guess, and until we meet again."

Nodding his head at the woman, he turned around and took Fellis with him so they could go further up the stream. While it had been fun to see someone try and catch fish with their bare hands, it had started the other fish and made them flee into different directions, making pole fishing in this particular area rather hard. Even though this particular spot was his favorite place to fish due to the sun not managing to penetrate the thick roof of leaves above them, he wasn't exactly angry about it either. Putting his pole over his shoulder, he started walking further and further with Fellis following him around. While he kept his eyes on the makeshift road and his surroundings, Fellis kept his eyes on the water, as well as any fish that might seem tasty. Figuring the latter would not likely be the case since the exceed only ever ate fish when there was quite literally nothing else around, it still beat having absolutely nothing at all to eat and going to bed on an empty stomach. With that, the two made their way deeper into Sakuramori, leaving the woman to pursue her own goals.
