While Cerise had done the odd job here and there, none of them are what she would call 'official' so far. As fun, as picking pumpkins, and pulling up weeds was, she joined Silver wolf for the research aspect. She loved making new discoveries and finding out more about the world around her, and seeing as Silver Wolf specialized in magical research, there was no doubt as to what her choice of the guild would be. It was almost like fate, within a week of obtaining her passport the guild had issued a job looking for mages to locate artifacts across Earthland. As one could expect, Cerise immediately hopped on this opportunity-as it would not only give her some spending money but would also allow her to get out and fulfill her sense of exploration.

Of course, before she went all gung-ho into some land she had no knowledge about she was required to read up on the magical know-how and lore about the area. While personally, Cerise had no issue with reading-she knew how boring it could get, and if she wanted to be properly prepared she would need to find a way to keep herself focused. That's when the idea of getting a partner for this mission came along. Having another person there would not only make the entire experience more fun but being able to talk about the topic with someone else would keep her focused on the subject matter.

Thankfully the pack of Silver Wolf was a very friendly pack, and getting a partner was rather easy. The partner in question came in the form of a young woman named Maelie Prisca. She didn't really know much about her despite being in the same guild and figured this would also prove as a good way to bond with her future allies.

They hadn't decided on a region to study yet, instead choosing to decide once they were both in the library and had their options in front of them. Cerise had arrived a bit earlier than the designated meeting time, mostly due to excitement. It was only by about five minutes, so she wouldn't be waiting for Maelie for too long.

I am worthy enough to fulfill my duty, no matter my age
It wasn't long before Maelie joined Silver Wolf, after receiving the Celestial Tiara. She knew that whenever she was blessed with the tasks held within the item, that she had to get stronger. There was only one way for her to do this, and that meant training her skills through jobs. Of course, it was going to be a whole lot easier with a guild, than without one. So, she joined something that greatly suited her. With her curiosities towards finding rare artifacts through exploration, and her need to gain more knowledge, was something super important.

Due to Maelie being new in the guild, she decided to take on some easier jobs, before needing to do something as drastic as combat. She wanted to make sure that she was smart with everything she did, because it could be the one thing that could lose you the fight, or even start the fight in the first place. So, whenever she looked up on the guild job board, and saw that there was a research job, that would later turn into something more, she hopped on the job immediate.

Ever since joining the guild, she had learned that the guild members were like a pack. They worked together on a lot of things. That was especially important to Maelie. Since she was an only child, Maelie had never felt anything other than loneliness. It's one of the things that fueled her desire to explore. Not only this, but also the fact that one cannot just do everything on their own. They need a team, and Silver Wolf wasn't just a team, they were a family as well. So, whenever she found out somebody else would be working on the job with her, she was pretty excited. However, the words of her training rung through her mind, "Don't trust anyone too quickly."

So, as she entered the room that held her partner, she looked ever to her, and gave her a very pleasant smile. She hoped to not break the smile, whether that be it turning into a frown or bigger smile, as she said to her, "Hi, my name is Maelie Prisca. It's very nice to meet you." With that, she reached out her hand, hoping for dear life that this would become a good friendship.

As her partner entered the room, Cerise could help but gain a face splitting smile at the warm greeting, immediately reaching out to shake the woman's hand with vigor. "Name's Cerise, and likewise!" She was slightly scared that her partner would have a personality that wouldn't mix too well with her own, but the way things were looking she and Maelie would be getting along just fine.

Without missing a beat Cerise would immediately step back, before pulling five books from some of the shelves and laying them out onto the table in alphabetical order. All of them displayed information on various regions around earth-land with a central focus on magical lore as per the job request. In order, they were Desierto, Iceberg, Joya, Sakuramori, and Seven. "These are the options that I picked out for us to choose from. There were other regions I could have chosen, but I personally wish to stay within Earthland-and these five look like they'll have the best chances of having artifacts for us to find. Well..besides Sin, but I'd rather not provide an extreme risk to our lives."

Moving over to the four books, Cerise would point towards Seven and Joya first. "These two are topographically similar, with both harboring largely forested areas ripe for exploration. Joya is more dangerous than seven but is also less explored, giving us more opportunities to find new artifacts to bring back." Taking in a deep breath, Cerise would then move over and point towards the remaining books of Desierto and Iceberg. "Unlike the last two, these are total opposites with Desierto being a largely uninhabited desert, and Iceberg being well...a giant iceberg basically. Both have plenty of opportunities for us to make new discoveries but the extremes in climate might prove to make exploration a bit more of a hassle than the other two."

Without missing a beat she would then shuffle over towards the book that detailed Sakuramori, holding it up since it was by itself. "In all honesty, Sakuramori is probably the easiest one-not only is it in Fiore but it also has many magical creatures and items, making it a prime choice. Truthfully, the other options are only there to give a variety. Sakuramori not only the most cost-effective, but also removes the need for any external items like passports or ships."

Stepping back she would give Maelie a moment to gather some thoughts, while also giving herself a break from the rapid-fire talking. She honestly had no opinion when she first started talking, but as she reviewed the facts she came to a clear opinion as to what her preference was. "As I said I'm thinking Sakuramori simply for accessibility, or Iceberg as secondary option considering we are already used to extreme cold. Do you have any thoughts?" She honestly was still a bit indecisive as to what she really, wanted and having a second opinion would really help cement a chosen place.

I am worthy enough to fulfill my duty, no matter my age
As Cerise went over the many different regions in and outside of Fiore, Maelie knew the obvious choice. It was less of the fact that it was obvious and more so the fact that she couldn't do most of the options listed. The fact was, was that she had not yet reserved her passport. For someone who loved adventuring as much as her, you would expect her to have one. Yet, she didn't. She had been meaning to get one, but with the need for her to get money from jobs, and train for her title of princess of the celestial realm, she hadn't gotten to it yet. Not only this, but also the fact that she heard about the beauty of the area made her choose it.

As she looked at the book labeled "The Mysticism of Sakuramori," she picked it up and said, "I think there's an obvious choice here." She smiled as she opened it up, saying, "I don't have access to other countries at the current moment, but besides that point, the area of Sakuramori is very unique. I've been there once or twice during my trainings, and it'll be nice to revisit it. Of course, I'm not an expert. So, we'll still have to read through all the research on it. Now then where do you want to start?" As she asked this, she looked back down towards the book, and at the table of contents.

On this page, there were 3 different categories. These categories included the beasts of the area, the plants of the area, and the environment. All of these things would most likely be magical in nature, whether it be a living plant, a ghastly animal, or even a dense air created by the high levels of magic flowing through the air. Each of the categories were interesting, but deciding where to start first would be interesting. It wouldn't matter too much, since they would most likely read all of it anyways, but the choice would decide whether or not they would be falling asleep while reading the book. In all honesty, Maelie would love to start reading through the environmental nature of the area, in order to get through the boring stuff first. However, she decided to let her partner choose, since she chose the area itself.

Hitting the Books(job w/ Musicalbunny) Empty Re: Hitting the Books(job w/ Musicalbunny)

Post by Cerise Arledge 4th December 2019, 3:33 pm

Cerise gave a smile and a nod at Maelie's choice, glad that the woman was happy with the location even though she was technically forced there due to her lack of a passport. As much as she loved to travel and explore, being able to stay in her home country for her first job of this variety gave her a sort of comfort that she knew she wouldn't have felt had she had to choose a foreign place. Despite never going there herself, she had heard many stories of the exotic yet beautiful state of Sakuramori-and with her partner having gone there before she was sure the experience would be even more enjoyable.

As Maelie went and picked up the book that detailed Sakuramori, Cerise zipped over to one of the bookshelves to grab herself a copy of the same book before returning to her partner. She seemed to want Cerise to choose what they would start studying first, most likely due to the fact that Cerise had let her choose the location. Looking down towards the various sections Cerise had no trouble picking out where she thought would be the best place to start. They hadn't really expended any energy yet so they would be less likely to get tired if they went through the boring stuff first. That's not to say that environmental studies were completely boring, just in comparison to monstrous plants and animals it didn't really hold much of a candle.

The reading went just as one would expect, with the environmental studies being extremely boring which in turn made it feel like it lasted forever. Things like general temperatures were studied alongside the various reactions the environment had when exposed to different types of magic. Cerise wouldn't lie and say that the section was completley boring, as there were a couple of sections that peaked her intrest-but with the thought of scary plants and animals on the horizon nothing really stuck too well with her.

Once the environmental hill was crossed, Cerise actually managed to become invested in the studies. The plant section detailed everything from carnivorous magical plants, to what was edible(the latter section being especially ingrained in Cerise's mind). The last thing Cerise wanted was to have her life ended early by accidentally ingesting a poisonous berry. After that section was over they moved onto the wildlife section. To say that this was the most fun section would be an understatement. Various types of magical beasts were drawn in great detail, with their various strengths and weaknesses displayed proudly. Cerise knew that she would need to remember a large deal of this information, as wild beasts and monsters were truly the biggest threat that they would have to be facing. Being surprised while hunting for an artifact was the quickest way for things to go awry, so being prepared in advance would prove to be a great boon.

Once the last bit of information was read, Cerise happily slammed her book shut and let out an audible yawn. As 'fun' as reading a 700-page information book was, the mental strain that accompanied it made the whole experience ultimately worse. Of course, it was over now and complaining about it wouldn't really do much to help in the long run. After standing up to stretch a little bit, Cerise would then turn towards her partner with a beaming smile on her face, glad that she could take solace in the fact that someone was with her the entire journey. "Now that the ordeal is over, do you have any idea on when we should meet for the tough part of the job?"
