Magic
Magic Name: Twisted Realities
Magic Type: Light-Make (Primary), Caster (Secondary)
Lineage: Bearer of the Cosmolight
Holder Item: Item of Balance
Description:
Twisted Realities is a powerful illusion magic that uses light-make magic to bend light to the user's will, using it to create visual illusions. In addition, the caster's own innate magic, mixed into this magic, allows for the creation of auditory and tactile illusions as well. Because the spells are all illusions, they do not cause any damage or, in fact, any physical effects at all. However, its effects often feel very real as they are happening, even though they quickly end once the spell in question is over. Of course, illusions, being effects, can be countered by mages of a rank equal to the spell in question. However, trying to counter the effects of the spells can ultimately be very costly to an opponent's MP, meaning this magic can sometimes be good for harmlessly reducing their magic power without negative impacts on the caster.
While Sayuri can and does use this magic to damage her opponents (in a non-physical sense, relying on perceived harm rather than real effects), its primary use is to confuse and distract them. It can be used to completely alter her opponents' perception of the situation, and is often very disorienting for those fighting her. In addition, she is unable to see/hear/feel any of her own illusions. She simply has to trust that they are working. For most illusions she must picture what it looks like, meaning this magic takes a lot of concentration to use.

Unique Abilities:
- Master of Disguise: This ability allows the caster to dramatically alter her appearance at will, although always remaining human in appearance. However, any features can be changed, and dramatically so. This can even be used to duplicate another person's appearance. This can be used freely as a plot-ability. In combat, the illusion cannot last longer than user-ranked maximum spell duration, and cannot be used again for another 3 posts after the duration ends. This requires OOC permission to copy player characters, player-owned NPCs, or event NPCs.
- Telepathy: This ability allows the user to communicate non-verbally by creating an illusory version of the words they are wanting to say. This communication is given directly to certain targets, not heard out loud, so only those who are intended to hear this can hear it. In addition, the caster can choose what voice this sounds like, be it their own, mimicking someone, or even a totally made-up voice. This can be used freely as a plot ability. In combat this ability can be used at most once every other post.
- Ability: Unlocks at S-Rank
Spells:
- B-Rank:
Name: Gloom
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: As the spell travels outward to its range, the entire area appears to grow pitch dark, rendering it very difficult to see inside. However, this effect does not affect the caster or their allies, who do not perceive the spell at all. This is a rather simplistic illusion, and as such does not take much concentration.
Name: Hush
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: This spell creates an illusion of total silence inside its range. Anyone can still talk as normal, of course, but opponents within the range cannot perceive any sound- even that made by themselves. This spell does not affect the caster or their allies, who can still hear normally, and thus is excellent for allowing allies to strategize without being overheard, or to prevent opponents from being able to stretegize with each other. This effect only applies for one post every other post.
Name: Babble
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: Creates the illusion of loud noises of all sorts. People talking, animal sounds, mechanical noises, screams and shrieks- any sound the caster can imagine, and usually the most irritating ones. The noise is jarring and disorienting, especially for anyone with extremely sensitive hearing. While it is still quite possible to communicate while this is active, it can be quite difficult to hear over the racket. This spell does not affect the caster or their allies- only any opponents in the range.
Name: Agony
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: All enemies within the spell's range suddenly feel as though they are in excruciating pain. While the pain is not actually real, and slowly decreases over the spell's duration until is disappears completely when the spell ends, it can be extremely distracting, and even debilitating for those who don't handle pain very well. Unfortunately, this is one of the only spells in this magic that can affect the caster, as in using the spell they themselves are also subjected to the sensation of pain, albeit less severely than those targeted by the spell. This spell will not, however, affect the caster's allies in any way.
Name: Insensate
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Single Target
Damage: None
Range: 200 m
Speed: 200 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: When a target is hit by this spell, their limbs instantly go numb, and they lose sensation in them. They can still use their limbs, as their is nothing wrong with them. However, the loss of sensation will often make their actions seem awkward and uncoordinated, and it will be more difficult to move effectively.
Name: Warp
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: This is a spell that messes with opponents' perception of the environment. While the spell is active, something seems, well, just not quite right. Nothing in the area is changed in appearance. However, there is a shimmery sort of effect that makes it hard for the eyes to focus on what is going on, and while this is more of an annoyance than anything else, it can still be rather distracting. This spell will not affect the caster or their allies.
Name: Phobia
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Single Target
Damage: None
Range: 200 m
Speed: 200 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: When this spell strikes a target, the spell can sense the target's fears, and automatically creates an illusion of something they are afraid of. The caster, however, is not aware of what exactly this is, and such this spell does not require the intense focus of many of this magic's other spells. This spell requires OOC permission to use on player characters, player-owned NPCs, or event NPCs.
Name: Obstruction
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 100 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: This simply creates some form of illusory object or feature anywhere within the spell's range that blocks line of sight, preventing opponents from being able to see through it, although the caster and their allies are unaffected. The exact form that this barrier takes, be it a wall, a rock, etc., is unimportant and completely up to the caster. This is mainly useful to cast spells or prepare plans from a hidden location so the enemy does not see or realize what is being done.
Name: Mock Adversary
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Single Target
Damage: None
Range: 200 m
Speed: 200 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: This is an insidious little spell that changes the target's perception of one object, or even a sentient being, within the spells range, making that object appear to be an enemy. The object in question can be anything- a simple tree or rock, or even one of the opponent's own allies! What kind of enemy the target perceived is also up to the caster, and can even be a specific person, such as the caster themselves. The main purpose of this spell is to distract an enemy, hopefully directing their attacks toward a false threat, or even accidentally damaging their own allies! This requires OOC permission to use on player characters, player-owned NPCs, or event NPCs.
- Advanced Spells:
Name: Lupus
Rank: C+
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Multiple Target
Damage: None
Range: 135 m
Speed: 100 m/s
Duration: 6
Downside: None
Description: Creates an illusory wolf controlled by the caster, which will seem to attack opponents. Being bitten or scratched by the wolf feels quite painful. However, this pain is, like all other effects of this magic, illusory, and does no harm, nor does it last beyond the duration of the spell. In addition, the caster must maintain a visual image of the wolf to control it, and losing focus will result in the spell ending abruptly, regardless of how much of the duration is left. This spell's main purpose is to act as a distraction, as it can draw an enemy's attacks to a target that is, in fact, nonexistent.
Name: Doppelganger
Rank: B+
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 150 m
Speed: 75 m/s
Duration: 8
Downside: None
Description: This spell creates an illusory spell of the caster, while also obscuring the caster from view, making them functionally invisible to anyone within the spell's range. The caster controls the illusory version of themselves, and it can move independently of the caster. However, the illusion cannot use any spells, and while it can appear to attack physically, even causing perceived pain from its attacks, it deals no real damage. The caster is still able to be hit by attacks while this spell is active- it's just harder to aim them at them. The spell only conceals them visually- they can still be located based on sound, or scent for those with keen senses of smell. And, of course, any actions they take while concealed can give them away as well.
Name: Wonderland
Rank: B+
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Area of Effect
Damage: None
Range: 150 m
Speed: 75 m/s
Duration: 8
Downside: None
Description: This spell creates a whole new illusory world within its area. Things look completely different, and can be however the caster wants them to look, from spooky locales to whimsical paradises and everything in between. It can even simply look like the real setting, but with the location of objects and the features of the landscape shifted. The illusion is malleable, and can be changed throughout the duration of the spell. However, the appearance or location of sentient beings within the area cannot be changed. Opponents will see only the scene created by the caster. Allies of the caster have the benefit of seeing the normal setting, with an almost spectral overlay of what the illusion looks like, allowing them to see both the real world and what their opponents see. As with most spells in this magic, the caster cannot see the illusion at all.
- Signature Spells:
Name: Flare
Rank: B
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Burst
Damage: None
Range: 50 m
Speed: 50 m/s
Duration: Instant
Downside: None
Description: A brilliant flash of light is emitted from the caster. This blinds anyone within range. Enemies will also feel as though they have been scorched, causing a sensation of pain, but no real damage. Unfortunately, the blinding effect works on allies as well as enemies, meaning it could easily backfire when fighting with a group, if used incorrectly. This can only be used for one post every other post.
