The Flaming Fairy (Intro)

It was a gorgeous day and the cheerful purple haired woman took that as a sign that she was making the right decision. She had been travelling from one town to the next for what had seemed like an age but given her dislike for vehicles, walking was the only option, not that she minded that much. There was so much more to be seen by foot anyway and the slayer had experienced her fair share of close encounters during her trip, both friendly and otherwise. It had all been great fun but Ashaiya had come to the conclusion that it was finally time to commit herself to a guild and what better one to join than Fairy Tail? It was the most well known and even Vesta, her mentor and mother figure had known of it, which was saying a lot. So, she had packed up her gear and started her long journey, which had finally led her to Magnolia.

A smile would cross her features as she made her way through the town, occasionally having to move out of the way as children ran past her, playing and having a good time. The town gave off an incredibly friendly vibe and the mage was already feeling at home, even if her smile did briefly turn wry as one of she shopkeepers decided to make a pass at her as she headed for the guild hall. It didn’t bother her and the blue eyed woman took it as a compliment, laughing and giving him a wave as she continued on her way.

Her keen slayer senses guided her well and she soon found herself standing outside the guild hall. It didn’t look quite as grand and prosperous as she’d expected but looks could always be deceiving and with a simple push, she opened the doors and entered. The moment she did so, she felt a few pairs of eyes turning towards her although their gazes were more curious than ones of dislike, which soon helped her to settle. Her eyes would quickly hone in on to the bar at the back of the room and she couldn’t help but wonder over and take a seat.

“Never seen you before,” the barkeep would say cheerfully, walking over to her, “New to the guild?”

“That’s right,” Ashaiya would answer with a grin, “Travelled a long way to visit here.”

“In that case, this one’s on the house,” the friendly figure said in response, placing a glass in front of her, “Make yourself at home.”      

He would then leave in her peace, while Ashaiya took a sip of her drink, turning a curious eye towards the patrons. She didn't feel any feel nerves at all and seemed to just blend in to her surroundings. It was something that she'd always been pretty good at.

The patron beside her, was probably a bit rowdy. The sound of another pour and the slide before a lithe hand took the mug. The mug in question was larger than the hand holding it, and lifted to a mouth smaller than what would be normal of a drinker of such a mug. Foam stayed on her lips before wiping it away with a hand and rubbed into a cloth. An unladylike burp escaped those dainty lips who had the politeness to excuse herself, slams the mug down before ordering another in a happy cheer.

"Ah the alcohol here doesn't compare to Caelum," Winchas told no one in particular, letting the barkeep take her mug. "Back there, the beer was so brown it could topple giants with a swig. It was the brew for the brave and true. You'll find never another one like it. But I'm glad to always enjoy a drink here..." Winchas smiled. Her boasts of her hometown contrasted her small lithe figure. It sounds like the talk of men big and brawny. Instead, it came from a woman who looks like she could barely lift the mug being handed to her. Soon however, her attention would fall on the newcomer.

"What about you? You came from far and wide," Winchas had a welcoming grin, clearly from the high of alcohol but not drunk. "I bet you got stories of your own. What could you be here for? Power? Money? Oh the propositions of like a guild like ours spans far and wide! Were you a crook? A lone warrior? Men and women have set foot in this guild in search of a way to go beyond who they are now! AM I RIGHT!" Winchas lift her mug, spawning cheers from the crowd. Her charisma was something, to raise the morale of the guild with her rousing questions to the newcomer. Leaning over, she whispers. "So... tell us your tale."

Ghost was indeed done for the day as he finished off the last twilight beast. He would open a gateway portal back to earth land. Looking on at his world all was at peace at least for now. Ghost would quickly walk through the portal. As it made its way into the fairy tail guildhall. It stood ten feet wide and tall. It took on the colors of pure white and jet black. Soon enough Ghost would walk through it. Smiling as he looked around the guild. Not many of the main guild mages were here as of yet. But it was okay, as Ghost would start to scan the room each person magic power level was darn right not strong enough to help him out. However, his scanning would stop on a new figure high in the most.

Her magical power level was well above his. But was she new to the guild? Clearly, she was as he has never seen her before. His scanners would not lie to him. A smile would soon come across his face as he would make his way to her. He plans to introduce himself to her as she could be a new guild member and maybe an epic adventurer of her own. Ghost was curious to know more about this new member. Granted it was his job to do anyhow. Soon he would walk past most of the fairy wizards there only to stop two seats away from her. Ghost would order the usual drink as always. Looking on at her he would say. "Are you looking to post a job or join the guild? Either way, it goes nice to meet you. But tell me this miss. What made you even to consider fairy tail? he would ask that slowly but surely. Looking over to see another guildmate has already introduced thyself.

Ashaiya couldn’t help but grin once again as the petite figure next to her began to bombard her with questions. She certainly had some fire to her and the speed of which she could speak was unlike anything that the purple haired woman had heard before. The mage had nothing to hide and she always preferred to be open with her past. Besides, if she wished to join this guild then lying would be the worst possible way for her to start her new life. It was simple common sense and given how rowdy the group of patrons were becoming all of a sudden, she’d feel like an absolute scumbag if she didn’t at least tell them a bit about herself.

“Well I’m not a crook for a start,” she said with a chuckle, “My name is Ashaiya and II was born and raised by a dragon, many miles from here and learned how to use magic from her. She was a massive creature, crimson in colour, with a powerful yellow pair of eyes that could melt the hearts of anyone who looked her in the eye when she was angry. Vesta was her name and the closest I’ve come to having a family. I learned a great deal from her and although I annoyed her all the time, I think she thought of me as her daughter or that’s what I hope anyway.”

“Since she passed on, I’ve been exploring the lands of Fiore,” she’d continue after a short pause, “Getting into scrapes, helping out those I could and drinking everyone I meet under the table. I guess you could call me a great number of things: Warrior, wanderer, bounty hunter, pesterer of men and women, I’ve done a bit of everything in my time. As for what I want? Well, strength and wealth are all well and good but what’s most important to me is making the most out of life, as corny as that might sound. That and an unlimited supply of booze.”

There was a ripple of laughter among the patrons as she finished and most of them seemed happy enough with her answer. All Ashaiya could be was honest and be true to herself.

It was then that her attention was captured by the second figure and after a few moments of thought, she would answer his questions too, “I was hoping that I could become a member of the guild, as the reputation of Fairy Tail is well known and the life of a sole wanderer is a rather isolating and lonely one. I guess I’m a little tired of that and wish to join a guild in order to find friendship more than anything, perhaps find a new family, now that Vesta is gone.”

Seems it's a time for new beginnings in Fairy Tail, sorry if I'm a bit distracted, Aviel. Aven relaxed back into his chair, sitting near the middle of the guild hall. Normally, the young man would have gotten up to greet a potential member, but he was currently near the end of a telepathic conversation with the Seraphim, Aviel, updating the angel on current events. At the same time, he'd been listening in on the boisterous crowd, dividing his attention between the two; as important as his work was, the guild was family, and any new members deserved his notice. I don't know if Markus will still be able to help, but there are comparable wizards that we could find to replace him... Yes, I know his Void attribute would be a big help, but I can't force him to participate if he's busy with his own problems. I'll see what I can do... Alright, just don't make the Valkyrie Court angry again!

The link ended, and Aven had his full attention to give, at last. The young woman introduced herself as Ashaiya: a fire dragon slayer, from the sound of it. Critical as always, his eyes scanned over her form, his senses reaching out to assess her magic. The results checked out, especially given her description of her past; she was far stronger than any newcomer he'd seen before, A-rank at the very least. She hadn't been kidding that she was trained by a Dragon, though he did question one part of her story. With a light smile, Aven rose from his seat, making his way over to the bar, sitting a few seats down from the two chatty women. "Well, if you're looking for a new bunch of friends and family, there's no better place than Fairy Tail! So, then, I hear you can drink anyone you meet under the table, Miss Ashaiya?" He gestured over to the bartender, who got the hint, effortlessly pouring a pair of shots and sliding them across the bar from where he'd been cleaning a glass. "How about we test that theory? The drinks are on me, of course!" Aven wore a bright smile, hoping Ashaiya was as fun loving as she looked.

Oh man, this new iLac was amazing! It could put numbers and measurements into literally anything that he wanted - and with that requirement, not many things were listed, since Mura’s imagination concerning the word ‘numbers’ were scarce. He was alright at math, so leave him alone, but alas; this device could track his ‘health points’, which he assumed was a meter that showed how healthy he was for some reason. It had stayed pretty stale for a while now, so he guessed that everything was alright, no big chances that could turn for the worse. It wasn’t always the case that changes were good…

But when they were good, he’d cherish them. Just like this new app called ‘Strange Things’ that was, in its entire essence, a ‘press-this-button-and-something-random-will-show-up’ app. It was labelled in the ‘humor’ category, but thinking about it just a little more would let you believe that not everything random was funny. Humor was rather subjective and also depending on the time and trends of today, but for a guy who, as a toddler, ran around with a wooden stick all day and hit people with it for hours on end, and who also didn’t get to know what stools were until he came to Fiore, and who didn’t know that his father was a huge, tragic pervert whom Mura to this day still felt pity and compassion for, having an app that showed him a funny picture of [insert here] sure made his day. It also applied to Kyuken, but Zirconis never really had a good sense of humor.

“*chuckle* What in the world is that? Ahaha…!”
“I don’t know, and I don’t want to know. Its legs are abominating.”
“P-Press again, Mura, let’s see what else there is- AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, WHAT’S THAT?! LOOK AT THAT HORSE! ITS LEGS, ITS LEEEEEEGS-AHAHAHHAHAHAHA…!!!”

Mura chuckled with a heart-warming smile that showed his teeth reflecting light from the lights inside the guild hall. It happened to be that a new lady had made herself present to Winchas, and they were having quite the talk. Aven joined in too, joyous and rather competitive to the newcomer. Mura originally didn’t want to butt in and become an addition to a crowd that just popped in right in front of Miss Ashaiya, but something that Aven repeated from her worried him. He couldn’t help but stand up from the stool and walk towards them, Harusame firmly strapped to his left hip along with that red blade with the unnecessarily long name.

“W-What do you mean by that?” Mura asked Aven in response to the words that he heard about ‘drinking anyone you met under the table’. Kyuken floated up to Mura’s ear and whispered: “It’s exactly what you think, you perv~” With those words, a vein popped up on Mura’s forehead despite his pleasant smile still standing.

Winchas did not even hear Ghost, mostly because the crowd grew rowdy and loud as they awaited Ashaiya's answer. And the crowd was sure happy. Both spirits and spirits were lifted. Everyone was off, a happy high from booze. It was certainly the mood of a family among friends. Slamming her mug down, Winchas cheered for the idea of unlimited booze.

"That's totally fine dragon girl! Everyone loves jewels in their pockets and a few legends under their belts. I bet ye mother would be proud of ya today if she could see you!" Winchas hollered, and the crowd agreed with a cheer. Then the more prominent members came in.

First was Aven, who offered drinks. Winchas scoffed at the choice selection. Followed by Nessa, who had remembered having a birthday a few months back. Then the guild master himself commenting on the drinking slang. Winchas then slammed her mug down again, grabbing the shots and pouring them down her throat. Wiping her lips, she slaps Aven and Ashaiya hard on the back.

"Ya call that drinkin? Only hopeless drink from shots! We are men and women with dreams! Drink like REAL DRINKERS!" Winchas slams her hand on the table. "Give them a real chugger barkeep! And Aven is still paying for it!" Winchas laughed, her guns rattled with her cheers as the barkeep poured them both large mugs of beer and passed them to Aven and Ashaiya. With her own mug refilled, she toasts.

"Cheers! For tonight! We got a big spender!" Winchas slaps Aven on the back again, before giving Ashaiya a round the shoulder hug. "NOW DRINK!" Winchas roared before chugging her mug.

Ghost would watch the group get rowdy as fast as the newcomer cane in the guild. How fast did a drink offer become a drinking game? Seeing the guild Master and Ace get involved. That was something of the sort. But it was Aven who offer up such a kind gesture to all involved in such a game. Ghost looked on as each mentioned what they could do. But it was just a silly drinking game. Most likely the winner would claim bragging rights over the others. But Ghost simply did not find it wise to rapidly down mug after mug of beer. He would slowly but surely step back to be a spectator in all this. "Not to bring sex into this but there is no way a female could out drink a male. The organs are very different in size. But at last if one uses one's magic than it's anyone game. " Ghost would look on as he was thinking out loud.

Looking at the Dragon Slayer thinking on how could one be raised by a living breathing dragon. That was very interesting, to say the least. But if that was the case her inhuman conditions should give her the edge least Ace Nessa or Master Mura had a trick up there sleeves. But what about the loudmouth brat she should put up a fight as she is drinking already. But no matter how one put it Aven is buying. So that must mean he believes he himself could win. This will be interesting so very interesting to see who metallic is stronger. " You know what we say in the Science World. The only thing matters are the end results. I will be watching this one." Ghost scanners we're working fine as it was scanning everyone nearby. He would wait to see the games began.

The atmosphere was becoming rowdy very quickly which couldn’t have suited Ashaiya any better. There were smiling faces and cheers coming in her direction from all over the place and it definitely made her feel at home. She’d been there for mere minutes but it already felt as though she’d been a member for years. The men and women around her were such a colourful bunch and no sooner had she finished her little round up of her life so far, she found herself being approached by more and more people. A part of her thought that she probably should have come sooner but there were lessons that she’d needed to learn while on the road and they had shaped her over the years. Life was one big adventure, after all.

She was originally going to answer the challenge to a drinking contest straight away but as the group around her began to grow, the slayer briefly paused and gave everyone time to find a spot to sit or stand. It was surprising how much you could learn from a bit of banter and the reaction’s were absolutely gold, giving her a little bit of insight into those around her. There was obviously a lot of history here and Ashaiya couldn’t help but get the feeling that Aven had a habit of regularly ending up unconscious on the guild hall floor.

“I mean that people who drink with me end up passing out, not what you’re thinking of,” she eventually said with a laugh, her gaze briefly turning towards the brown haired male, a grin on her face. Seriously, how quickly the male mind tended to jump to such things.

Shaking her head, she would then wave back to Nessa as she introduced herself, “Hi there Nessa, my name’s Ashaiya Ventress, a pleasure to meet you.”

A slap on the back followed by a round the shoulder hug would suddenly catch her attention and Ashaiya happily joined in with the embrace, placing one arm around the petite girl's shoulder in return. She was such a peppy character and the idea of changing the idea of shots to something a little more substantial was definitely a great idea in her book. One thing was for sure, the bill would be absolutely massive by the end either way.

Still grinning, she would swiftly pick up the shot glass, gulp down the liquor and place it back on the bar, “You’re on, Aven,” she would then say simply, turning her blue eyed gaze towards him.

O-Oh… that was what she meant. Uh… it didn’t help Mura’s embarrassment. “Hahaha… uh, can she see me?” Kyuken asked nervously, not wanting to be immediately put in the same boat as the perverted shaman known as Mura- the tables had turned for a brief moment there, hadn’t they? Mura’s face pouted as hard as possible in order to hold his composure, and his face had reddened up.

A drink would help a lot, really.

And since Nessa-neechan was doing the honor of officially enrolling Ashaiya into Fairy Tail, Mura just opened his palm and grabbed a random tube-like straw of wood. Then he put the straw into his mouth and sipped occasionally. That was also when he noticed something through Zirconis’ next message: “Hey, Mura… she reeks of Dragon Slayer Magic. Who is she?” “Ah, she wants to join our guild. Calm down, she seems very nice and non-anti-Dragon; you heard her, she was even raised by one, just like Althea and Arcadia.” “And once again, this world proves its overpopulation of dragon-empowered indi-… w-wait, what are you drinking?” Zirconis looked at the wooden straw that was discreetly connected to a certain tank behind the bar filled with a certain beverage that Mura rarely touched.

“I’m drinking my unbearable embarrassment away.”

"..."

"... I'm sure you'll feel at home here easily, Asha-neechan. Arcadia and Althea were also both raised by Dragons... and we have a literal one right here." Taking another sip from his straw, Mura grabbed Zirconis and pumped magic power into the green spirit ball head that was him, manifesting him in the physical realm so that non-FT members like Ashaiya could see his grumpy appearance. "C'mon, say hi Zirconis..."

"*sigh* Greetings." the ghost dragon greeted, tired of how Mura was slowly beginning to treat the ancient dragon like a child who needed such simple directions by their parents.

The purple haired slayer hadn’t actually heard the comment regarding the organs of men and women, with her only becoming aware of it as Nessa responded to it. She was uncertain as to whether the boy had been making some kind of joke or was genuinely trying to be insensitive and so she didn’t actually say anything in response. It was in rather poor taste either way and she simply shook her head in response, musing to herself that he certainly wasn’t going to have much luck finding a girlfriend or any kind of friend for that matter, if that was he always conducted himself around others. She’d give him the benefit of the doubt, assuming that he was just a little awkward and perhaps a little naive. He kind of had to be, as the amount of males that she’d koed in drinking contests easily put pay to his ‘scientific view.

Since her drinking opponent seemed to have gone a little quiet for the moment, Ashaiya would take a draught from her glass and then turn towards Nessa once more as she was spoken to, a smile returning to her face. “Please do,” she’d answer cheerfully to the Ace’s question, “Ask me whatever you need to.” There was no hesitation on her part and given that she’d already woven a tale for the patrons about her life before coming to the guild, she had no issues with answering whatever was needed. Honesty is the best policy or most of the time anyway.

Her attention would then be captured by the brown haired boy as he spoke to her and the redness in his cheeks caused her smile to turn wry for a moment. It seemed that she’d been spot on with her previous comment towards him and caught him out. The mention of other dragon slayers within the guild was not as surprising to her as it could have been. Vesta had mentioned that her fellow dragons had always been keen on mentoring young humans although as far as Ashaiya knew, she was the only actual dragon with a human appearance although she’d be happy to be proved wrong about that one day.

Her eyebrows did raise though as suddenly a dragon suddenly emerged out of nowhere and spoke to her. “Nice to meet you, Zirconis,” the slayer would say, recovering quickly from the surprise, before turning her gaze back to the boy, “I look forward to meeting my fellow dragon slayer when I get the chance.” It was only then that she realised that she missed something very simple and asked, “I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced yet. May I know your name?”

As she waited for his response, Ashaiya would then return her gaze back towards Nessa, prepared to answer whatever questions she needed to.

Arcadia stepped backwards from a portal that opened behind the bar. She bowed apologetically to a cat peering out from the portal. A cat with a human face could be seen hissing at the barefoot slayer before the portal closed. She issued a quick apology with her vow as the portal was closing. "Again, I'm so sorry, Sir. I can assure you it won't happen again."

After the portal was completely closed, Arcadia sighed deeply in relief. To her horror though, she belatedly realized she was not quite as alone as she thought. Arcadia also realized she had come during a prospective interview. The barefoot slayer's face burned red with embarrassment, and she ended up tripping over backwards.

She rose back to her feet, and bowed apologetically once more Ashaiya and her other guildmates. She kept her faerie green eyes averted from meeting anyone's gaze. "And sorries to all of you too. I didn't mean to interrupt." She offered Ashaiya a smile, "Welcome!  I'll...  just be right here at the bar."

Arcadia grabbed a spoon and strawberry lemonade juice box. Taking a seat on the other side of the bar, she stabbed the spoon through the juice boys top. Her other hand concentrated magic power and flash froze the juice. The juice box itself was now brittle and peeled out flaked away from the frozen strawberry lemonade, leaving Arcadia with her instant popsicle. She rested her chin on the elbow-supported palm of her hand, quietly beginning to eat her strawberry lemonade popsicle.
